Shame really. There really should be a gag order until a full investigation can be revealed. A free press is great, but being reckless in reporting that could turn violent is stupid. Same thing with suspected sex offenders, innocent til proven guilty doesnt seem to meet much anymore if theres a good scoop in it.

Its interesting, im reading a variety of online sources and some are saying the two involved "are" and "are not" involved. Not sure about the time delay between these stories though or if they have been updated.

]CNN's reporting is particularly confused, making both claims in the same article. Clearly an 'update' fiasco. CBS is saying '"Involved".

Sounds like JFK again. Patsys on the run, witnesses being mopped up.

Reddit seems to be quite good. WHDH news also seems to be good as thats local news.

USA Today and Associated Press are reporting that the suspects are indeed Russian, the "white hat" guy is identified as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, 19 yrs old.

Something doesnt smell right if you ask me. Granted I wasnt in counter terror or intelligence, I was in the armour but we still had to sit through the basic class and this is just... weird.

maybe they are more along the line of just plain 'ol fk'd in the head assholes who wants to go out in a blaze of glory?

As speculated by my mother: They may not have been prepared for the level of observation - the sheer numbers of cameras. It's possible they had no end-game plan, thought they'd just sit out the investigations anonymously, and have now panicked when they realized that they were found out so quickly.

I just realised being a civilian sucks... I miss my military connections when stuff like this happened here... the disconnect is disturbing.

Which is why I maintain contact with my buds still in uniform. There's less they can tell me than we used to know, but they still have insights they can legally share. Not the same as sourced news, but second-hand analysis from informed sources still matters.

Just heard on the radio that the older brother was enrolled in Bunker Hill Community College to study to be an engineer, and had apparently complained about unable to make American friends.

If true, this is looking more like Columbine with more explosives :/

What I find odd is that 4chan had it nailed in the first few hours. Seriously I was on the threads and it was picked apart thoroughly, and that's one of the guys identified.

Now I get to watch as the conspiracy theorists who were analyzing this one in real time, get it right and see the law enforcement follow it. If they realize that if this happened a week ago, they would be finding every excuse under the sun why it couldn't be them.

I'll never get that kind of thinking.

Have been listening to BBC World News Hour on the way to work this AM.
They spoke with the boys' uncle, who characterized the older suspect as a 'loser' - a dropout who was doing a whole lot of not much, despite having much potential. BBC's Russia Desk has spoken with the boy's father, who seems to have a lot of difficulty connecting teh younger boy to events in his mind. Apparently the younger brother was expected to be a real star. Both boys were into martial arts; wrestling and some form of Asian martial art. The younger is reported to have had a scholarship in wrestling.


Other stories on the BBC include one about the man seen being hustled off in a wheelchair, both legs with rough dressings on; He lost both legs, but when he woke after surgery, he managed to request a pen and paper, wrote out an accurate description of one of the suspects. This was before the pictures had been released - and handed the description off to an FBI agent.

Increasingly, the 'Columbine' angle seems to be accurate.

Thing is Boston news said that one of them was pretty popular and had many friends, they even interviews one of the friends.

Its hard to get a real picture with so many conflicting stories.
