Tried the above (changing network settings to disable interrupt moderation) and still getting disconnected constantly.
Running pingplotter, I am having no packet losses and an average ms of 60-70. Still getting disconnected, without the pingplotter showing any difference.
Have tried resetting my router, clearing my cache, reinstalling network card. My cable is not damaged, and I am getting annoyed :p |

It is a big problem that it can be caused by so many different things.. I've had the socket closed problem for 5-6 days and it came from one day to the other, it was happening 1-2-3 times per hour and to all the accounts i had running at the same time.
What finally fixed it for me was a clean install of eve, resetting my router and portforwarding.
I've been running all noon around 4 hours with out a single socket closed error. Maybe if you have the sisi client installed it can screw things up aswell? But similare to a lot of you other guys, my problem was with EvE only. I did'nt lose my internet connection or have had problems in other online games, well except for COH ofc

Yesterday I had no problems, stayed online all day with no disconnects. The day before I could not stay online for more than 5-10minutes, today its the same thing.
Nothing on my end has changed (that I know of). Using the same pc, same router, same everything. Not changed any settings in game or in windows. |

I also have the socket closed issue since a few days.
This MUST .... i repeat MUST be a CCP problem.
I also never had that problem with ANY other game ... only with EvE.
Over 135 pleople have already reported this issue in THIS thread, and there are many more threads about the same issue on the forums.
CCP is not going to tell us that the issue is with HUNDREDS OF DIFFERENT ISPs around the world, and hundreds of different players have a bad Internet connection whereas it works well with everything else EXCEPT EVE, are they?
On a side note: We all know that CCP has had an unusual amount of server issues, including unexpected downtimes, or players not beeing able to connect more often in the last few months than the last 2 or 3 years.
We re all thankful for the skillpoints we got as a reeimbursment though ,-) |

Okay for the sake of variety: I get the closed socket error most during incursions. Jus enough to stop me making ISK. I'm in the UK on Virgin media for my wifi. And after very slow and careful reading of instructions I was able to change the port to 3724. I'm going to attempt to clear the cache then I'm heading back into the game. I will add to this post to let you know how I did. |

Another possible fix: There is another active thread on this subject. And I have looked through both of these for solutions.
One of my computers started doing a lot of disconnect after the Tueday 30th Server reset, while the older computer has never done it. 1st off it was not my ISP as one puter was fine and the other trash.
Someone said to look in my system events, and that was the tip that helped me fix it. (Via Computer --> Manage --> Event Viewer --> System Tools ---> Windows Logs -->System and filter for critical level events)
Some of my services were put on delayed startup, and in the case of my Nvidia updater it was starting after 30 minutes. Naturally when I have a disconnect I do normal stuff like rebooting the computer to refresh it. And that then started the 30 min timer on that update service again. The updater generated an error in the logs because it could not log onto some NVidia server for an update because something had screwed a password field. It was also within a second of the "socket closed" client closed error from Eve.
Put simply a bad service and updater from Nvidia sent a ping of junk like an error log that made Eve think it was not looping with the client, when it just needed to wait a second more or something.
Fixed the Nvidia drivers via uninstall, and update and the socket problem seems better.
My tip is to Google for a site on performance boosting with info on what services and procedures are actually needed on a gaming rig, there are many windows services that simply chew system resources and create more things to go wrong. An example being I don't have a printer on my gaming rig so the printer spooling services are disabled. |

This has been going on for months....and still nothing forthcoming from the powers that be. Shame on CCP for yet another incident of "f*ck the players and ignore their concerns....let's just take their money".
We've been dealing with this for long enough now CCP, pull your fingers out of your ass and do something about it!
I'm seriously getting to the point of giving up for good. Too many years of bullshit issues with these people.

I really don't think CCP had anything to do with it, at least in my case. Well, Eve is certainly extra sensitive to packet loss but it It was Level 3's hardware dropping packets. I was watching it with a friend today and while it took them forever to do it, the routes started changing around 4p my time today and since then I'm not having any dropped packets. MTR @ 300 requests right now and 0% loss. Once that happened, eve fired up and logged in fast as ever and appears to be solid.
If you're having this issue go download WinMTR and fire it at TQ's IP. If you're dropping packets, you'll see it and who's hardware is doing it. This might not be everyone's issue, but all of the symptoms described in this thread are identical to what I experienced and that appears to have been the cause. |

Firstly, my apologies to CCP...I took the advice from Artillio and ran WinMTR...it appears that there are 2 different hosts that drop packets at random times. Yes, CCP can alter their tolerance for packet loss to make things easier for players that keep getting the socket closed but other than that I genuinely have no clue what else can be done...I'm not tech savvy in the slightest, don't know how much of this internet thing actually works to be honest....All I know is it's cost me ships and has gotten significantly worse over the last few months....I just don't enjoy playing now I keep losing my connection.
And, It is ONLY EvE that it happens with...my other online games are unaffected. |

Suddenly started having this problem today. Everything worked fine at first, but suddenly I keep getting the socket closed error. Other games and the rest of my connection works fine tho. I tried changing the port to 3724, which seemed to fix the issue, for about 20 minutes. After that the problem persisted. Attempted to run the EVE Repair tool but received an error while running it. |

Socket Closed, yes well if this happens to me how can I play EVE right?
As it is happening every time I log in and within a few minutes I have a problem.
Never happened to me before and does seem to happen if I use more than one account at a time.
Obviously if EVE is throwing an error then something triggered EVE to throw that error right?
So what little piece of information did EVE want that it did not get?
Anyhow would like to get to the bottom of this as my EVE days are over for now. |

Having the same problem for months, currently having more than 10 disconnects during 15 minutes of "playing"
Please, please do SOMETHING about this!
Edit: I have no problems with any other programm other than EVE whatsover. Downloads keep running, other programmes are completely fine, and my pings are not interrupted or lower than usual, so it's definately a problem caused by CCP. |

Every time I've had the Socket Closed error on my Client IGÇÖve found it was either my ISP or my Router. EVE definitely seems more susceptible to it than other online games IGÇÖve played. IGÇÖm to the point now that if I get a Socket Closed error the first thing I do is go to speedtest.net and make sure my internet has a nice steady speed, no valleys in the graph, if it doesnGÇÖt then I reset my router and modem and then recheck it. If IGÇÖm still getting wide swings in my Internet speed I call my ISP and place a service call. I tell them that the speeds erratic and bouncing around and that I need it to be steady for my needs. As soon as I get a nice steady graph on my speed test, no more Socket Closed errors. Hope this helps.
