I think such fail deployments serve a unique purpose:
TO IDENTIFY EVE'S HARDCORE PLAYERS
If you're like the developers involved in this nonsense, you would have a single account with maybe one Jita dwelling alt used for market checking purposes, in which case, this thread doesn't concern to you.
TBH, the only thing well done was the awakening of the most sensitive segment of the EVE community in total rage for this being the most demotivating prelude to an expansion I've seen in my 5yrs playing this game.
The entrance to the game was ruined!.. How can it be messed up any worse!
I understand that CCP is pushing the marketing on re-selling the game over and over again to it's same player base. And I don't disagree.. Apparently there are many who want to have a full house within the game.
EVE players don't want anything back.. no previous log in system, single crap log in, etc. EVE players want this to work!... PLAIN AND SIMPLE. So, go back to your drafts, throw them all away and re-do the thing with your beloved hardcore player base in mind before your marketing strategy collapses. Those who want to that full house within the game already have it. If you think anyone is considering re-buying your game with this crap by acquiring more accounts/alts, you're in the wrong business!
This... thing that was done, acts opposite to the merchandising goal and marketing strategy.
Selling EVE to newcomers is hard: It's an aggressive in-game environment and the learning curve is an indigestion for most.
NOW YOU CAN'T EVEN SELL THIS TO YOURSELVES

Got all happy cause I got EVE working again the way it should with the shortcut from the bin folder. But after reading that no point in undoing the sub cancellations. It may take months or even years to get the new launcher friendly and usable for multi account use. Good luck guys and keep working on it CCP great game will keep eyes out for updates and improvements

So the new launcher.... creates a loading bar screen!!!!! WTF is this about?
In other news - Dear CCP my launcher opened ok, but showing me that opening video is a little of preaching to the converted.
Constructive feedback for you: It might be worth you noting that the only reason you keep you're player base despite the huge amount of upset you seem to cause them, is that you are unique in the game you offer. Keep upsetting them and this will change, someone will create something not even as good, but good for its consumers and they will get your audience. Another thing that bothers me is that we haven't heard anyone from CCP admit that this upgrade was a mistake. And no explanation of why they won't roll it back. It's pretty obvious that a lot of people are unhappy with it, even if they can get it to work at all.
What's up with that?
How about a simple, "We're sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused."
I mean, this isn't a player problem. The players didn't write, or rather fail to write, the new launcher software. CCP did.
Someone mentioned an apology from Hilmar. Sorry to admit it, but anything Hilmar says makes me madder than if he just kept his mouth shut. |

OK, two-factor authentication I would like to have that with increased security does come some inconvenience, but most places that have two-factor authentication have it as an option. You still need to address the multiple account part and the master account.
Regarding issues with bad releases, most people remember having to run and place the largest item in their training queue right before a patch.... Sometime it would be a few days to settle and you never wanted to be part of the people that lost stacks of items, or some other horrible story of patches gone wrong.. They have gotten better at patches, but this launcher needs to be taken back and fixed to match ALL users not just the single account players.

With the amount I pay on a monthly basis for this game, I expect quality service and proper updates from the EVE teams, and this has just ticked me off. Honestly just give me a similar game and better service with lower costs involved and I'll hit the road.
Why should we resort to manipulating or falling back on old files to get the game playing? bullshit, that's poor customer service. i expected this to be fixed by the time I got home, too much credit given I see. |

Whenever I start the launcher, It says Offline Mode, So I run the EXEfile.exe, only it says there is a patch, so I try to install the patch which gives me an error, and kicks me to the launcher..... I had 10 days left to plex, and ALMOST enough iskies AND my training queue want empty last night...... I believe I am entitled to a 2 day plex.. |

I have to agree with Leggey here.
Some of us have been playing this game for a long time. When you guys (CCP) make changes to the game it seems that our request for changes and fixes are ignored in place of fluffy graphics and pointless sh*t.
It feels like we are moving back in time... say like North Korea 1950
And over the past 2 years you have managed to screw up PICK_A_NOUN
But we, the community, the players are what make Eve successful. We are the ones who continually pull in our friends, girlfriends, wives, brothers, sisters, nephews to come play with us. It's the community that makes the game, not the game itself.
If you continue to ignore us and treat us like idiots, we will leave... and take our extended families elsewhere. We will pull them away from their machines to do other things.
I'll be happy with putting all my toons in cold storage and stop paying you 80+ bucks a month.
As for the launcher, CCP Guard I know your trying to do the right thing, but a FAQ for what is basically a login screen? Who does that?
We dont need more to have the ability to tweet or skype from the login or fluffy graphics, or a warp tunnel each time we gate jump or flashy animated icons that suck power away from our already over priced graphics cards.
Give us the content we ask for and tell those idiots who are asking for the fluff to **** off. They are not paying the bills. |

Hey CCP How about a simple, "We're sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused."
All the people in this thread are PAYING CUSTOMERS that haven'nt even heard so much as "my bad" from you ! WTF
My "new and improved" launcher tells me im working in offline mode (i.e it doesn't work at all) and i have to search through the forum to find a way to fix this issue poasted by other players not CCP. again WTF !
There is 124 pages of posts here from PAYING CUSTOMERS who are unhappy because a) You (CCP) replaced the working, ergonomic, fast, well developed launcher with a buggy, slow, ****** launcher b) You (CCP) post about how you "never officially supported" multiple clients (i.e. all us PAYING CUSTOMERS with multiple accounts/clients can look forward to zero effort to make this "new improved" launcher work unless it takes almost no effort to solve c) You (CPP) dont implement a roll back of the obviously broken launcher d) You (CCP) never so much as say "sorry" to your PAYING CUSTOMERS for breaking the game.
This "new launcher" is some of the worst software development twinned with poor customer relations i have seen in a long time |

Effing horrible. So the updating happened and I was able to start the first client. THen when I tried to log onto my second account.....no. No launch. Checking the processes I see 4 instances of the Launcher.exe,
In game: I can't launch a Vaga because somehow, impossibly, I've managed to load more mods into the highs than there are highs. Um. What?
I'm sure this is a tale of updates and change resistance, but this is easily the worst implemented update to date. We should all get some in game reward for putitng up with this/
We are paying clients, CCP, and you are not providing the service for which you are being paid.

I must be the only person that used the launcher all of once or twice. After it kicked off the real game, I right click on it and select 'Pin to Taskbar'. To start up the game, I click it the appropriate number of times for the number of clients I want open...only 1 or 2. I log in to each, just like has been done for years.
The real login screen still shows incompatible protocol when an update is necessary.
Now if the launcher was one of those irritating auto-launch things in windows, that sat in the task tray, and always kept you logged on, that might be kind of useful except for the irritation. Then we could click that pinned program icon and not have to type each time... |

CCP,
Please give us back the 'Log Off' option button in the settings window. This 'NEW' launcher seems to have removed that option from the settings window entirely. I for one want that back. The rest of the launcher I can live with tho it slows down something horrible if trying to log in two accounts at the same time.
Note, using the regular .exe file does return the Log Off option button.

TASK MANAGER - Multiple Launcher processes.
When I start the game from the desktop icon Eve Launcher starts, and I get 2 Laucher processes in Task Manager (which is fine as I understand it's bootstraping). Log into game and play, everything is fine..... log out and the the 2 Launcher Processes are still there (even though check box for closing launcher after log in is activated).
Try to log in again and I get 2 more Launcher processes are added to Task Manager (x2 per log in attempt) but this time the Launcher will hang. If I manually remove all the Launcher tree processes from Task Manager and re-start the game from the desk top icon, everything is fine again.... until the next time.... rinse and repeat.
Anyone else with this issue? Or any remedy?
My work around: Make a desktop shortcut to the EVE.exe file located in the game folder/bin folder.
This will bypass the "Launcher" completely and you can enter the game as normal, before all this mess (and you also get the Log Off option back,,,, not just Quit the game). |

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD I WANT 2 RUNNING PROGRAMS INSTEAD OF ONE?
really though CCP. I'd bear with the new launcher crap if it didn't clutter up my Alt+Tab menu with a useless icon that i don't need aside from logging in and changing characters.
I'd much rather have the launcher auto-close like the old launcher and then have an option in-game for switching characters rather than the old method of closing the game and re-opening a new instance of launcher/game exe. |
