Well my picture of what I think is the Vapor Sea is in here http://imgur.com/a/kkSrz#0 - I compared it to others shots and EvE Travel and I think it's the same nebula, but I don't know a way to check for sure.
And I only got the idea because I see it listed on several sites as the nebula 'in the Stain region' or 'Stain's nebula'. So didn't know if I had to take the pic in Stain. Doubted it but I wanted to just make sure I have the right nebula before the contest is over and it's too late. |

I didn't know F11 did that lol, thank you for the info. I did have the autopilot on before the shot, I'm not sure how I could use that to make sure though. |

Is it just me, or were there more places to visit in Amarr/Caldari highsec than Gallente/Minmatar ?
Being in the Gallente militia, Amarr and Caldari highsec sites had some complications due to faction police.
Week one This was just a matter of setting a waypoint to each site, then flying to them. But two sites stood out for me: - Jita Monument. Since I had never visited this before, and my overview was full, it took me a few passes of the 4-4 station before I could find the monument. Then I simply bookmarked it and warped directly at it. - Choonka's Diner. The only time the faction police managed to shoot me was at this one.
Week two - Politely answering a question in Help channel of any language. People who aren't paying attention might wonder why the help channel suddenly became helpful. - Mini containers scattering in a data or relic site. My first attempt at hacking, which is a fun little minigame. Though I don't like the spew. - Prime Arkonor. I never realized how dead parts of nullsec are until this one. I literally had to fly 10 jumps into null to find an Arkonor site. Then I lost my ship to the rats at the site. 10 jumps back in my pod. Then I realized I forgot to show the chat channel, meaning 10 more jumps. And the loss of another ship to the rates at the ore site. After confirming that my picture met the rules, I self-destructed my pod rather than fly back.
Week three - EVE Gate and Monolith. What Eve sightseeing trip would be complete without them ? Also, I probed out the Dead End system on a lark. There were 3 Dead End wormholes - Wolf-Rayet Star. After the number of wormholes I needed to scan down to find the right system on the other side, I've got to say that I felt like I was fighting against the interface to position the probe formation. I'd hate to see how it was when I had to position each probe individually. - Your pod on fire. It took me a while to find a corpmate willing to help with this one. - Steve. I never realized there were so many different ways one can place bubbles. From a gate covered in so many that I had to slowboat 100km through them to reach the gate*. Another gate had a large bubble on it, with a small bubble set to catch anyone warping directly from gate to gate and a can to decloak anyone it caught. A bubble on the planet I warped to to check the gate. A bubble sitting on Steve's front end, filled with abandoned drones, which seemed to be an attempt to get people to die to the NPCs that were camping the wreck. Also, there was a Caldari militia pilot sitting one jump from Steve. He was there when I warped through on the way to Steve. He was still there when I went back through a few minutes later. Why was a cal mil pilot sitting, apparently AFK, in a nullsec system that far south ?
*Good thing I used a cov-ops. The one thing I really feared in it was jumping into a bubble, which never happened. All the bubbles that covered a gate were on the side I warped to, not the side where they would catch me. Naturally after hitting the gate covered in bubble-wrap, I put it on my avoid list for the trip back. |

Week 3 is so far pretty tough but I learned a great deal. So far 13 deaths: 2x in a gate camp on my way to Steve (in a shuttle). Doing the podexpress 1x Because I joined a corp with jump clone service which is currently at war. Got podkilled in front of Dodixie and was wondering what all the red guys are doing here without Concord intervention 10x self destruct to produce the corpses cheaply and fast and not having to fly to Dodixie again....Very bizarre. Made a contract to sell them. Could be a new Noob profession. time effort ca. 30 minutes. Cost 665000 ISK for clone upgrades.
Lucky moments: -First wormhole I scanned and entered was a Wolf-Rayet.... -cov ops bombers with torpedos and target painters have a hard time to kill a shuttle
Next try to reach Steve and finalize week3: As soon as I can fly a Helios with a cov ops cloak |

The "steve" picture is for sure quite hard to get ;)
Those guys in catch seem to have a liking for bubbles, and they also seem to guard their territory quite fiercly.
Wonder how hard the tenths one that was listed earlier in this thread here may have been. Getting a Sansha Mothership screenshotted in an incursion may actually be a lot easier than flying through tons of gate camps to steve ;) |

Ah, you don't need a covops. I did the whole thing in a Gnosis - and never died!

Yeah, I remember we met the other day on a site. But honestly following the other comments and according to my experiences I think you are either quite talented or lucky for making it to Steve. Either way works fine with me At my first run to Steve I was not careful enough..and died but my second run was an entirely different story. I could escape at least 3 gate camps on my way, made safe spots, was zigzagging through each system but finally in AOK-?? I got caught. The gate was so full of warp bubbles. I think several small ones and 3-4 big ones. I tried from several angles several times and finally some damn tower at a moon shot me down while I was looking for another angle to reach the gate without ending up in a bubble again. Should have done a safe log-off and waited a couple of hours...
But eventually I will make it. Helios or not we will see.

It was all luck - I only ran into a few gate camps and my rather oddly-fitted Gnosis was able to handle them easily. The only trouble I had was flying back to highsec after Steve - in the last nullsec system the gate was bubbled in all directions and camped by 15-20 dessies & BC's. I lost my scout several times trying to find a way, until I finally said "screw it!", warped in at 100 from a good direction, cloaked, and slowboated all the way to the gate. 100 km in an already slow ship, with a 75% velocity penalty, takes a very long time...
The good thing about taking a Gnosis is I never had to worry about the rats - with five large shield extenders I could mosy about and take as much time as I needed to getting the right angle for each shot.

Just the asteroid in space.
Where exactly in the rules does it say this? Or are you making it up as you go along?
In the list of screenshots it says 'Prime Arkonor' not 'Prime Arkonor asteroid' I don't see how you can change it after the fact.
In the rules nowhere does it state your ship must be in space, it only says your ship must be visible and uncloaked. |

You just got the dev response confirming what pretty much everybody else already figured when applying some common sense. Are you seriously trying to argue against it? I'd suggest it would be more productive (and interesting) to hop into your ship and make a new screenshot. |

I'm having fun searching for all these sites. However, I am having some frustrations with the Wolf-Rayet star. I've visited a couple dozen wormholes already. Any strategies/tips? Are the wolf-rayet systems evenly distributed between C1, C2, ..., C6 or are they only found in a certain class? It may be all random, but if anyone has some helpful tips, they would be greatly appreciated! |

I didn't count them, but at first glance looking through the WH database they seem to be pretty evenly distributed through all classes. There are 162 WRs out of 2498 WH systems so your chances are about 6.5% per new system you check. |

How are you checking what kind of wormhole system it is ?
Because some of the obvious methods of checking don't work. |

Scan for wormholes in k(known)-space rather than scanning down wormhole chains in J(WH)-space...that way there are less signatures that you need to scan down. I've seen several J-space systems with 80+ signatures. Also, pay close attention to any notifications that may pop up after jumping through a wormhole. If you do not get a pop-up notification about system wide effects, there is zero chance that the system is a Wolf-Rayet. If you do get that notification, enter the locus signature into StaticMapper to identify the environmental effects of the system. Good luck! We currently have the world's greatest linguists and scientists trying to decode whatn++ you just said. |

I've managed all the parts except finding a Wolf-Rayet Star. I've now checked around 60 systems in Syndicate looking for one of these elusive wormholes and still not found this bloody star! Wondering if we will be able to get confirmation on whether our photo sets are valid (so if they aren't we can re-take them?). It was mentioned as a possibility, just wondering if it may still happen before contest ends.
Secondly I concur with others who have said a medal would be awesome for people who participated (maybe a medal for each week, or a special one for all three?). Something to point at and say, 'Yes, I did almost die at Steve.'
Great contest, I had a lot of fun whether my entries counted or not. Moar live events please! |
