You don't need to justify yourself you made the right move and doing that will always **** the other guy off. When you see the enemy whine about your tactics then you know your are doing a good job. When you demoralize, humiliate, frustrate, harass, degrade, or do just about any other form psychological or emotional damage you are hurting the enimy or a level that wepons alone can not do.
The fact you got your guys out alive instead of doing a bonsai charge into impossible odds is good on many levels. Its show you know what you are doing. The people under you have more faith in you. And the enemy was denied a moral boost. The fact that they whining about it and throwing cheap smack talk is a good sign.
I would fly with you any day.
