There is no way that at 18:30 the server can be up and running and be all hunky dory at 20:00.
We cant even download the patch yet.
Why didnt they just rush the patch like usual and end up with about 15hours of downtime ?
why set aside 24 hours when everyone knows the servers going to go **** up as soon as 18k people log on at once, and thats AFTER the server giving us the patch goes **** up .
Prove me wrong please.

CCP realise there has been problems downloading in the past, and i believe they're using another company to help them distribute the patch.

Jesus folks, stop complaining...
The game will be patched when they are ready, would you prefer a game with bugs on time, or a game with less bugs slightly behind schedule?
And you ask why you cant download the patch? Beacuse they are still fixing the last minute changes to the patch, if you would download the patch ahead of time you would get the patch without the last minute changes and you would STILL have to download it again when it has reached the final state.
Just be patient folks, it will be ready once its ready.

If its a finished product when we are able to download it , and there are no server restars needed and no massive petitions, then i'm with you old bean.

Well the server is up, we cannot login though as the patch is not available.
Personally it looks like CCP are checking that the servers are correct, the database is working and that it will be ok for us to use when they release the patch and allow people to login.
I would be have been worried if the server was still down but its up & the dev's are testing it.

If you dont like it quit.
They are doing things right the first time which is a lot i can say for many many MMOGs. Being whiney and negetive in this community doesnt fly as it would in other MMOG communities.
Keep your whiny attitude to yourself until everything is back online. And also keep in mind that the expansion is free? Where you would have to pay otherwise?

I have to agree with the OP now...
15+ fixes to something that SHOULD have been ready straight off.
Honestly, for any major deployment, you backup the original at some point, rebuild it on a replica system, and test that...you don't take down your live one and test that many fixes on it.
I'd like to know why they didn't test this exact cycle on a test environment first. Bugs that the QA guys missed? Why not spend a whole week having them go over the replica build? Rather than taking down the Live one and hoping it'll work. Should have locked up Singularity, and copied Tranquility onto it and do what you're doing today on that...THEN, when you're happy, you do a deployment to LIVE...
Someone at CCP needs to go read a book on SDLC.

Oh, this is most convenient!
I'm going to the theater to watch King Kong at 20:10 GMT, and the movie is almost 4 hours long. Means it fits my schedule perfectly.
