I would not mind "ambulation", as long as it was meaningful for the game / Dust514 connection
Sure, since we are dreaming up things here anyway: If you're on a station in HS, you can shoot one avatar, then Station Security fries you. If you're in low sec, Station Security only guards doors of offical buildings. Shops are unprotected. If you are in Null Sec, you don't call it "Station" anymore, but "battlezone", but the Alliance owning the station can decide who can land.
Also, since you are a pilot, with absolutely no close combat or personal weapon experience, you regularly get beaten up by DUSTies, especially when there is a bounty on your head. Good enough to slake your bloodthirst?
Quote:... and did not draw too much from the core bussiness of blowing ships up.
As your usual industrialist or trader if that is the core business for them. The fact that it is the core business for you, keeps them in business. But the same is true vice versa. Although people always say EVE is PVP-centric (...and come up with pretty weird examples for "PVP"...), basically EVE can be many things. Just not 100% secure. Unless you are a station trader.
Had they done ambulation the way they originally imagined it, there would now be more career paths in EVE. Hey, even in APB Reloaded, that is clearly PVP only, you had guys famous for creating the best collection of clothes. In EVE we would call that "market PVP". There people just got cool looking stuff for themselves and their cars from others that had a talent to create it.

I had dreamed of capsuleers launching drone clones into combat for fun, like gladiator combats. Already conceived some of the imagery, the capsuleers in their pods and the drone clones caged, then released like puppets under their bloodthirsty masters' control.
They would duel with swords, with muzzle-loading pistols, with 6-shooters like in Western movies, you name it. Everything human mind could conceive could be done -billionaires and their expensive games.
Pilots would fly to the stars to bring money for their landborne amusement. Some would earn a living without ever piloting a ship -maybe some wouldn't even be capsuleers but implanted commoners with special skills paying a lower subscription, maybe, or even F2P.
Others would use NPC agents to play card games (didn't EVE had a card game once?), unlocking abilities, meeting other NPC and eventually triggering events for other capsuleers and generating dynamic PvE content for mission runners.
And yes, some of us would dance together, sing along or play Monkeyheads in a pool. With OUR money.
Instead, we're gonna get some restats for HACs in the future and CS too just with Odyssey 1.1. How lucky us, that's such an awesome way to put 100 million dollars to work that words fail me. CCP Unifex: -á"lurking single players (...)-áare the majority of characters on Tranquility"
...And so now we know why CCP hasn't done anything for soloers since Apochrypha. |

I have to admit, sometimes I do get a little tired of watching a dull brown/gray/gold ship in the middle of a black screen. I wouldn't mind docking up in a station environment and just watching an avatar fashion show once in a while.
Would be kind of interesting in low sec. You know, station games, all that. 'Loki pilot, if you're a real man, get out of your pod and bring your toon over here to the bar!" |

Quote: These fairly standardised digs will allow some limited customisation - sofas, tables, pictures on the wall, "frozen corpse display cabinets" - but they're mostly there as a default showcase for your avatar, and somewhere any player can immediately call home.
Quote: You'll be able to rent a "socket", buy a bar blueprint and insert it. Set your own restrictions on the clientele, hire NPCs to populate the bar (including dancers), even craft dialogue rules for them to create your own little quasi-missions and adventure storylines. Then sit back and watch the beer money roll in. Maybe.

I don't play EVE for internet spaceships. i play EVE because it's a complex game with a set of social features never seen in any other game, sandobox, a complex and pretty realistic market etc...
I play EVE because every one who's not blue is usually red, because if you get distracted you die.
I play EVE for things like spies, betrayals, politics, turn of power. I really enjoyed reading logging in and find PL litterally invaded my 'home' system for the war in Fountain. I enjoyed reading and watching the war, the propaganda, and the turns of events.
I play EVE because seems like PL won the AT XI over INTEL.
because THIS is EVE. THIS is why it's still growing after 10 years, because of the community and interaction between players.
don't be fooled - I love internet spaceships. but they are mostly used as a gauge for power and possibility in EVE. hell, i would play EVE even if it was about internet giant rabbits as long as the feeling of the sandbox, market, power and politics was the same.
you don't have to undock to play EVE sometimes - tbh, if i learned one thing in these years, you don't even have to play EVE to be playing EVE. clicking on a propaganda video on youtube? you are playing the game.
there's lots of people / characters who don't even undock or they do it only from time to time... would be nice to improve the system for them too... imho more social tools will just improve the game |

I think it says a lot about the human condition that when people on the internet were given a toolbox that allows them to create anything that they could imagine decided to build an entire world made up of strip malls filled with strip clubs and brothels. |

Stealing ships? That's silly. Why steal when you can politely ask, I bet some scrub would let some guy walk up to his hangar and say "Hey, wow that is a cool ship! I was never in an Abaddon, can I try it out?" and then the scrub says "Aw yeah you can, but don't steal it lol:D" and then the thief is like "Of course not man ;D" and gets the rights to fly the Abaddon of the scrub, prompty gets in and undocks and flies away, then docks it again and doesn't give the rights back. Now that is more EVE-like.
Just going up and taking a ship? Sounds horribad, even though I am sure it'd be fun. Just the prospect of seeing hundreds of ships un/docking and people walking around sounds great though. Granted, it might be a little lonely in some nullsec stations, but Jita would be fun as hell to see. And laggy. pâ+(*GîÆGêçGîÆ*)n+ë pü+(pé£GêçpÇü-¦)pü+ (GùòGÇ+GùòG£+) |

Also, why would anyone need to get out of their pod? You have implants directly in your brain, so you can basically experience any feeling or emotion that you want via direct brain stimulation or have synthetic hormones released into your body via the life support system. VR + brain implants + IVs means never having to interact in the flesh with another human being ever again! Mahahahahahahahaha..... errr... no, I'm not affiliated with Sansha, why do you ask? So - what you're saying is capsuleers basical drop out of the repoduction pool (and out of pretty much every other economic activty which involves puchasing for ones' own gratification), eh? Plausible. |

Because the plethora of Avatar based RPGs are for people without imagination. Just confirming that games like Neverwinter Nights (where people created/modded/scripted entire worlds and server with custom lores and completely new story lines with massive player-bases of role-players) are for people who lack imagination.
