Arduemont wrote:I hate to say it, but your probably right. I've been playing for nearing five years now, and I am starting to get bored. Not because of a lack of Avatar content (let's face it, Eve kept me interested for at least 4 years before I started getting bored), but just because every expansion since Crucible has been a little disappointing. Not massively disappointing, just not quite as good as the one before. Each one has expanded on an area of the game that is really only for a small number of people. Inferno was the whole faction warfare thing, which is great but I had already participated in faction warfare and had no intention of going back to try it again. Retribution was a bit of an exception because I loved the bounties thing, just because It could make me a small amount of my ISK back from PvP, but Odyssey was horrendous. A boring bunch of tweaks that didn't really affect me in the slightest, and I've never really enjoyed exploration and the new crap mechanic didn't change that.(...).
Odyssey are those green circles on my screen, which nobody bothers to warp to, and the red ones nobody cares to scan for. They're pretty the same when i first exit the station and when I'm back to it. Untouched.
I've been clearing green circles with a Noctis -but not long, they're an awful way to waste your time for such puny reward that is only worth the LOLz of actually ratting in a Noctis. Just leave it here:
Arduemont wrote:jujumagumboo wrote:Arduemont wrote:jujumagumboo wrote:prioritizes what the vast majority of its paying customers want instead of the tiny population of disgusting roleplayers?
You've done it again. You're not the vast majority, your just a sad alt of a dumb hick who has no killboard and is afraid to post with his main. Just from counting comments in these threads, the people who want WiS outweigh the opposition. And from my experience being in null corps, lowsec pirate corps, highsec corps, WH corps, the same can be said of people in game. This vast majority you speak of is a figment of your limited imagination. Here is how you can prove you are right: round up all the current players who want to play Barbies in Space and cancel your accounts. If there are really that many of you CCP will stop everything else and make it happen. Here is how I can prove I am right: Look at the population increases of the last two years since they put roleplaying trash on the back burner. If all the people who wanted WiS eventually implemented cancelled their accounts Eve would die instantly. So that's not going to happen because most people actually care about the future of Eve. As for you proving your right, the population increase over two expansions proves nothing. The Eve playerbase has grown every year like clockwork. After Incarna, the population was still higher than the previous year. They had to make cuts on jobs because they didn't meet their predictions, as a result of Incarna being a terrible expansion. The biggest population increase Eve has seen was after Crucible, the expansion that implemented the three remaining captains quarters. The second biggest rise in player subs followed retribution, where they had a really really good advertising campaign. No one know what happened after Odyssey because they haven't said, so your speaking out of your ass. Check your facts. Every post you've made so far makes you looked stupider than you were before. its a great idea. It would be cool seeing everyone running towards their ships when there is a CTA :D one reason a lot of players tend to leave eve in the first few hours of playing is because they don't see anyone else. But if they started out in a station with lots of players walking around then they would know they aren't alone |

DUST coming to PC is the key; WiS won't be worth it without meaningful gameplay. Fleshing out the bio-dome of that one Gallente station would be cool, but better would be missions that require you to get out of the pod and explore some abandoned station.
It'd probably bet better using DUST |

Why is it that the ones most vehemently opposed to WiS are all Goons or Goon wannabes? (I still have trouble believing that such a thing even exists, that really is kind of sad...)
Seriously, is this just another case of the Goons being "here to wreck your game"?
And why the hate for roleplayers? What exactly is it we're doing that's so bowel-clenchingly "KEEP THOSE SONS OF BEACHES AWAY FROM MY GAME!" terrible? I'm genuinely curious, because as far as I can tell all we're doing is playing EVE. An in-character blog and a video: http://verinsjournal.blogspot.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu1mbsgo738

And this! this is the problem, right here. People have got it into their heads that WiS content = playing dressup.
Understand - the people who are calling for this stuff want actual content. EVE content, involving scams and capitalism and opportunity and risk and reward and other players.
Nobody is calling for a science fiction dollhouse where we can brush our hair and get the coffee table just right. that's an afterthought, the thing you do when you're waiting for the FC to wake up. We're calling for the game to expand into stations and bring us now means to make money, new ways to rip each other off, new assets to put on the line, and new rewards for success.
You're right, this is EVE, not Barbie. and what we are calling for is...
Are you paying attention? This is important.
we are calling for EVE in stations
Hell, I'm renaming it right now. We're no longer calling it Walking in Stations. Just walking is dull. As of this moment, forget WiS, Incarna and Ambulation, they're all officially rebranded.
EiS - EVE in Stations. That's the new name . Remember it and use it. An in-character blog and a video: http://verinsjournal.blogspot.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu1mbsgo738

Well if CCP had their way we would be getting closer to that but the vocal playerbase started crying so hard after Incarna that they decided to "focus on spaceships" - which we can see now just means they will rehash and re-release existing content until they have they run out of "spaceship"-content to rehash. Twice.
So come back in five years or so and maybe there will be some visible progress towards your vision of EVE. |

Of course, Eve is only this... Never mind the people who make all the ships that get blown up. Never mind the traders who move the ships to you so that someone can fly them and get them blown up. Nevermind POSes, the people who make them, and their fuel. Who cares about those things right?
We could obviously carry on as normal if no one made any of those things. The fact of the matter is that more people make your ships than blow them up.
Also, nobody wants Barbie. Eve in Stations sounds much better. I'll be using that in future. |

The Goons are just trolls, always whining when CCP doesn't look at them. They just want attention. They don't want real additions to the game because they don't want to adapt their gameplay. So they ***** and complain about the game changing for the better, so they can stay atop the mountain of stupid **** they built. This is, until the game dissolves around them and eventually they are forgotten as losers who did something in an old forgotten MMO. Then I will laugh, and hope the majority of them kill themselves. |

Like a huge mall where you can go shopping For clothes ship modifications, luxury ships for style or even walk In to meet your friends in a bar station and have a drink. That to me would be phenomenal game experience in eve and attract New players because of the social out come of it.
I know that will never happen but I think if it were to happen More ppl would get highly addicted to eve online.
What do you think and what are your thoughts on that?
That was actually planned. It was called "walking in stations" and it turned out to be vaporware. |
