Where is that fine line between the coward and a brave idiot? Its always amazing how people get upset when you try to take out a mining barge in front of 3 battleships and warp away when it gets hot, and call you a coward. Or they call you a brave idiot if you decide to stay, take your chances and die. You could say that a good pirate would not lose, but then pirate who doesn't ever lose has to hunt people who are much weaker than him; thus he is called a coward....
And as for killing destroyers and podding new players. First reason is that targets are rare, and usually sit in stations for hours even if you try to stay around. Secondly, no kill is a waste. Let them hate us as long as they fear us.

Having (very) recently become a pirate, and having been podded and ransomed several times, I can see both sides. I used to feel, pretty vehemently, that pirating (at least of a certain kind) was just robbing people of their enjoyment of the game. Getting popped by Ginger Magician in an Apoc when I was three days old was not a good first impression .
Later on I lost some ships (Ruptures mainly) that I had spent a lot of care and attention on to pirates. One or two of them were just gits and deserved the completely impotent flaming I gave them on local . Others (like Mr Da Vinci) were a bit kinder and spent some time explaining their point of view to me.
Now I'm just incredibly bored with missions, so just joined a PvP corp and just popped my first Brutix . But I am determined to be polite, sympathetic and honest with people.

To be honest, I have no problems podding a noob. If you're in lowsec or 0.0, you're either aware of the risk associated with being there, or you were just made painfully aware of said risks.

In comical sense, it means "I pod, therefore I can".

Coward will warp at any sign of warship presense and save own life and money. Brave idiot will attack warship and die.
Quote: Its always amazing how people get upset when you try to take out a mining barge in front of 3 battleships and warp away when it gets hot, and call you a coward.
Aggression in front of 3 BS leads you to the your death. Or you require afk battleships?
Quote: Or they call you a brave idiot if you decide to stay, take your chances and die.
They are right. You are brave idiot. Much more simple way is selfdestructing. And this way is quite annoying for other people.
Quote: Secondly, no kill is a waste. Let them hate us as long as they fear us.
It is difficult to fear such buisance as pirate in boat. Isn't it? Particularly having PvP fit.

Its true that the #1 human motivator is Money. But in the end, money is used to satisfy your interrests.
If you have the tools you need todo what you like, you dont need more Money.
If you are hungry and you see food on a table and next to the it is money. Do you eat the food or take the money? All depends on how hungry you are.
It is true some eat the food and take the money, it all comes down to a choice.

1. They didnt pay the 9 mil for ransom which is really low and surprising only about 10% of people podded take that option
2. They were too close to the gate when their ship got destroyed
3. they were war targets
This is one of the reasons you got podded if I was there.

don't see me paying 9M isk in stead of having you annihilate my destroyer :)... btw don't you adjust your ransom to the target? you'd make more money...
I don't thnk I would ever pay a ransom, unless it's realy low compared to a ship loss... for most people it's a pride thing I guess :p

After a month of flying with -c-f- our 0.0 op team was asking everyone for 25 mil for pods about 50 pods later and no isk we decided to alter our ransoming policy.
Most people can't stomach paying someone who just blew them up, but if its gonna take you an hour just to get back to the same system and it's even less then a new clone alone then less than ten figures seems very reasonable.
For pilots who don't do much to make isk outside of loot 3 mil a piece is way better than hearing the squish.

I just got podded about half an hour ago, because I tried to comply with the pirates and pay their toll, but could not transfer ISK to them because I am on a trial account. I understand that there is a risk associated with going into lower security level space (0.4 in this case), but does this do the community any good to blow up a newbie because of a trial account restriction? I may very well take up their line of work one day as I have in other games, but I can't see that I'd go after absolute newbies. What's the fun in that? I'd rather get them when they have more to offer. There's something so unappealing about being able to shoot someone once and blow up their ship.

News flash.
We're all murderers, we are all control freaks. You want to control your safety, your experience. I want to control your lack there of. He who is stronger wins.
In the end I am the only one in control. My safety and my strength are my and brothers' manifestation. Many of you pay out your souls for Concord to control your world. A brittle shell, a simple illusion, that safety is no more tangible then a dream. Reality is that empire is no safer then 0.0.
Every day so many pay dearly for that lie, the precious whispered reassurance in their ear. There is only one inevitability, your number will come up one day. When the warriors you so faithfully entrust roll over and show their bloated bellys, fat with the life and freedom they've taxed from you, you will realize how vulnerable you really are. How vast and uncaring the universe can be.
This is the fate you accept. I do not. May you find your enlightenment as I have, before it is too late. You still have a chance.

Exactly my point. If one warps away, he is a coward. If one usually decides to fight, sooner or later he will lose, so he is a brave idiot.
Ladies and gentlemen, its now a proven fact that all pirates are either cowards or brave idiots. However all credit goes to the one and only who showed us the light - Iberi!
I am sorry about this being a bit off topic, but I just could not resist the opportunity.

Most pirates are just playing counterstrike in space - especially so the lone hunters. I far prefer the pirate corps, the hunting packs and people who try to lock down systems.
They all gank me the same tho, just I feel more involved if I'm properly ganked :)

It is a sad reality. Warship is testing tool for a pirate.

Quote: Lifewire > just go away
I told you to warp away - without paying. Since you had a trial account you cannot pay a toll. You should have warped away. However, it was a trial account and you could test how tolling works, or not?
Next time have a real account, then you are able to pay a toll, ok?
All this is a general problem: CCP cares a lot about coding new stuff, but every patch they forget to code the "strike colors button". This would be an option for a player to surrender and imobilize his ship for the time being in "Strike colors mode". This mode would offer time for roleplay tollings. Try to see it from a pirate view: if a ship is able to warp or move to the gate, what can be done to stop it??? Sure, you can web and scramble it. But then tank the sentrys for the time of the convo and tolling??? Hm, no - we simply shoot it down if the pilot doesnt offer to pay a toll and pays in time. It¦s CCPs fault and i really hope that the next patch offers some good pirate features like the srike colors button.
Until there is a solution our way is to open fire at any target that didnt offer to pay a toll directly after entering local chat.

Wow, a native latin speaker! What was it like growing up in Vatican City or ancient Rome???
So, Cogito Ergo Sum roughly means "I think, therefore I am", everyone knows that.
Since Podito doesn't have a Latin equivilant that I can find, let's the use the Spanish verb poder, 'to be able': "I am able therefore I am". Or "I am a little pod therefore I am"? Thats no good.
How about: iugularo ergo sum, I murder because I am. I think that's the right ablative tense, but my Latin is ****.
Love, K'reemy G'udness
