And yeah, I know waffe means weapon in German, but that's not exactly what it's associated with, is it? And why spell it in German anyway?

Uh, what?
The Luftwaffe is the German (not Nazí) air force, and is still in use today.
I said what it was associated with, not what it was. Why choose Luftwaffe as a base for a new name? What are they best known for? All I said was it was an interesting choice, which it is... ___

You might want to re-read your post and see what you actually said.
The Luftwaffe is best known for their blitzkreig attacks, using speed to destroy opposition. An apt name for what GF/GW are doing.

I said they were the Naz|'s airforce, which is what they were. And I didn't say anything about political correctness, I just found it an interesting choice. Given that the luftwaffe has only been used once since WW2, and even then in a minor war, I don't see why the association is so startling. ___

Hmm, divert the topic a little less please Nero (named after a obese, inept fiddle playing Emperor of Rome), and back to talking about Goonfleet.
Nice to see a early pvp focused group, I might look you all up once I get my basic skills trained up.

We always need new and dedicated pilots in this game, keep introducing them to eve, you are doing a top job.

I'm impressed the Goons can pull this kind of membership to Eve. I've enjoyed SA, but never would have guessed it had this much ability to pull to a single game.
Training new players isn't bad as long as you have groups of people to do it and decent documentation. Plus there's nothing like a boatload of cannonfodder to take hits for you while you get the kills from it :)
I actually bet GF is a total blast to fight against. Pure mayhem. Sounds fun.

We've done 1 on 1's on the condition that the other 10-40 goons in the gang get to come watch. But don't count on it being much of a fight--the vast majority of us are pretty shallow sp wise. That and zerging is oh so fun.
The organization of the directors is amazing. It seems to stem from their super secret do only what is necessary for the good of the corp and delegate the rest program. Vets tend to help on their own innitiative regardless, and really goonfleet vets are a huge bunch of care-bears when it comes to setting up new players. I had my first pvp frigate and mining cruiser given to me, skill books at a discount, and was in a pvp op day 1.
As far as preferred ships it's whatever you can afford to lose, as stated. I came at the tail end of the last newbie drive and had plenty of vets get me on my feet income wise. This is the general case for the corp so even our two week old members like me can afford to lose several frigates if not a cruiser or three.
Three weeks left 'til interceptors!

As Goonfleet's chief Fleet Commander I can say that even when I bring gangs of 80 or 100 people out everyone is extremely disciplined. They align when they're told, they kill what they're told, and they don't smacktalk in local. I couldn't be happier.

It's a combination of:
1. Great CEO 2. Directors who know how to show tough love 3. "This is not a democracy, now GET BACK TO MINING AND YOU'D BETTER PAY EVERY CENT OF TAX YOU OWE!" style corp management

Like what was said before, it's a cycle. Last round's newbies now know enough about the game that they can sit in the help channel and answer basic questions - how do I pod-jump, how do I update my clone, etc etc - which frees up the wave before them to be mentors.
Quote: I actually bet GF is a total blast to fight against. Pure mayhem. Sounds fun.
Believe it or not, we're not disorganised. We fight like any other alliance (), the exception being instead of having a fleet of twenty or thirty battleships, we have eighty or ninty frigates and cruisers.

A lot of people scoff at the T1 Frigate, I can fly cruisers and AF's pretty well now, but whenever a PvP op comes up I rush straight for my nearest punisher. There is nothing like MWDing towards that sniping apoc at 100km, seeing the other frigates around you peel off and warp out as they start taking fire, praying to get withing scram range before the pilot warps off. Then when you have him tackled, watching the angry bees swarm and take him down.
The T1 frigate is just REALLY fun to fly as part of a swarm.
