We've also made part of our wiki open to the public. The guides contained within outline newbie information not discussed in the tutorial, such as basic skill sets, how to get accustomed to multiple aspects of the game, and, most importantly, how to make a good portrait.

The newbies aren't as bad as you think. A lot of them get their stuff together relatively fast. Took me about a week or so of being in goonfleet to really get the ins and outs, and I played a week before that solo in empire. I can't imagine playing without goonfleet or another large, talkitive, giving alliance now.

I really of enjoyed mentoring newbies. I handled about 8 'official' newbs last drive, and adopted a few that drifted into my mentor channel somehow. (I did leave that half eaten sandwich at the bus stop in Oursulaert during the first week of the drive. Perhaps they got into that and followed me back to S-U hoping for more...) I'm still amazed to this day how well the GoonFleet leadership (or as I prefer to call them, The Commissariat) pull it off. Just handling a dozen newbies made me want to put my fist through my monitor several times.
To be honest, I think the mentoring was one of the funnest things I've done in EVE so far. Sure, lots of killmails and hangars full of zydrine are nice. However, they kind of pale in comparison to seeing half a dozen guys in corp chat talking about getting their first BS or assfrig and how much fun they're having playing the game, and knowing that you helped make that possible. The excitement that bubbles over into the mentor channels and corp chat when they get their first PvP killmail makes it all worthwhile. I'm definitely looking forward to the upcoming drive, moulding more loyal drones for the hive is always a rewarding experience. Plus if I get bored, I can always pit them against each other in newbship gladiatorial combat

It's the truth, in fact my corp has started taking on some noobs to get out ther ein 0.0 before they get corrupted by empire dwellers and fear loosing ships.

Truth be told, it's due in no small part to pirate corps like yours attacking us and forcing our newbies to either die or fight (and still occasionally die ).
So, uhh, thanks!

I've known the Goons for awhile and shot alot of them down myself, now i'm flying beside them. It's a weird place we live in, and now seeing more Goons show up in syndicate is making my right clicking every portrait an everyday hobby, just to see if they are friend or foe. More GOONS means mor right clicking for me, keep it up I dare ya.

At least people aren't whining about the mean SA goons ruining the game, as I have seen a few times before (And I don't even read SA much). Every time I have seen SA guys they are always pushing and doing something new.
I don't think you trust, in, my, self-righteous suicide. |

You should've seen the amount of people flipping out on the WoW forum, when the Goon guys there posted a complaint how the guild-related game tools break after 500 members... ^.^
(and so uhm.. will the third Goon sub-corp be called Goonmarine, when the time comes? ^^;;

Hey, at least we can't crash the entire server when more than 100 of us gather in one place. If you played with us I hope you were on the right side Josephine
Maybe CCP can provide better customer support than Blizzard and adress our issue, or at least issue a responce

Nah only played WoW for like, a week in the open beta period to see what it's about... so didn't have a chance to see goon raids there ^^
as for CCP support... it looks like they at least recognize corporation stuff need improvements (bottom of the list) so guess pointing out issues in the linked thread might help, eventually ^^;

I doubt it even exists anymore. It happened well over a year ago now, when WoW was in its inception. I was in Goon Squad and remember the post. WoW players(Alliance especially) were frothing in nerd rage for the inane reason that we had a lot of players and had the nerve to ask Blizzard to fix something that was broken.
And if you guys think our numbers are impressive here, the WoW numbers have to be seen to be believed. Its just less impressive because they are spread out amongst the boggling number of Realms WoW has.

Yeah, I was in the first Horde "Goon Squad" on Mal'Ganis WoW server, right at release, and we had 1000 or so members right on the first day. Of course, that's a much bigger deal on a WoW server, where the whole server might have 1500 active players at any given time. I think there were a few months there where we were the only WoW server with a Horde majority.
That's one of the really nice things about Eve, at least for us. The single-server design lets us all play as one group, without having to splinter across multiple servers, and at the same time, ensures that our numbers don't wholly dominate. No matter how many members we get, we're still just one fish in a very big pond here.
