In order to accomodate the new people we expect this month, GoonFleet has purged every last inactive from the corp in the last three weeks, and has split into two seperate corps - GF, and GW. We estimated that we would break 1300 members during the upcoming newbie drive and there has been no indication from CCP that they intend to release the Sovereignty skillbook (+1000 members per level) on Tranquility.
If you have standings set to GoonFleet one way or the other, go ahead and set them to GoonWaffe too. That's all.

Or do you simply created many trail accounts?
ohh i missed a point. All your alts are in your corp? +the alts of the trail accs which the alts created? ___________________________________________ A wise man said once: 'Violence is the escape of the mentaly poor guys.'

We did a count and had less than 100 alts in the corp alongside 700 actives. We expect 500-600 newbies in this upcoming drive and we get 5-10 applications a day without a newbie drive.

Wouldn't the name ZergFleet have been a better second corp?

It's probably trademarked. I once made a corp called "Karl Rove, President in 2008" and CCP deleted it :(

Wow nice number in your corp. Personally I cant understand how commanders bother to work with that many new players. I would be screaming and slamming my head into the desk every 5 minute. ----------------------------------------------

Edited by: welsh wizard on 07/03/2006 14:07:22 I think you're doing a great job GoonFleet. Introducing new players to pvp in this way is admirable. If I was a new player and wanted to experience pvp these are the guys I'd join. Our corps are sat on different sides of the fence but I still think you've got a good thing going.
Keep up the good work.

We had 149 people in corp last night, but I've seen it as high as 170. Biggest gang was a 110 member combined OSS/GoonFleet gang. Most hilarious gang was a 75 frigate gang that we divided into 25 and 50, then engaged a S*****rdly BS sniper gang on a gate with the 25. After about 10-15 of us had blown up, the 50 warped through the gate and engaged and much fun was had by all.

It's almost always 100+ in corp apart when its not around downtime. During weekends sometimes it can push 200. In our home system in Syndicate there's usually at least 40-50 people in local at off times and pushing 100 at peak.
As far as gangs, I've been in a 70 man but I'm sure there were bigger ones.

The most I've seen online at once in corp chat, pre-split, was 199; that was at the height of our last newbie drive, though.

Great stuff :)
Always good to get new players into PvP as early as possible before empire completly corrupts them.
I do wonder though how many characters you have in these 2 corps that are over 5mil sp's.
Do you specialise in frigs (ive heard alot about u lot and frigs), or do you fly larger ships?

We fly a pretty wide mix these days, although we encourage the use of small ships because it tends to be more entertaining. Frigs, destroyers, cruisers. Our population is growing so quickly that as each wave graduates into more advanced ships, the next, larger wave steps in with frigs and cruisers, so it's a progression. I'd give a lot to know what our percentage of "advanced" ship pilots was, myself, but it's hard to say. Frankly we probably need to start doing censuses.

I'll field this one. People generally fly whatever they can afford to lose in PVP, which for most people is frigates, but a lot of people are starting to train into T2 frigs and BS now. Also there's usually a healthy sprinkling of cruisers as well.
But yes, the majority of our gangs are usually frigates.

We'll really need a % of goon fleet online readout when logging soon. e.g: 14,000 Players online (13% goon fleet)

Experience > numbers, even if they have a 200man fleet and they all have decent skills i doubt they would be able to take out someone like Bob, [5] iron etc, theyve just been at it longer...Ok well maybe iron. ------------------------------------------------------------

Some tasks are delegated down to "veterans". I started playing Eve back in November 2005 after accidently stumbling across the recruitment drive back then. Now I've volunteered to be a mentor and will have a handful of newbies assigned to me who I'll be responsible for training in all aspects of Eve.
So I'll take them out on a mining op, hunt a few rats with them, maybe take them through a few missions, and run suicide frigate patrols up and down Syndicate looking for a fight. After their two week trial is up they'll have a pretty good introduction to everything that Eve has to offer, and from there they can either decide to stick around or quit the game.
Best thing is that 2 months down the road some of these newbies will end up volunteering to mentor the next wave of recruits and the circle of life will continue

Never underestimate numbers... no matter the pilot, ships always have so many hitpoints, and once they turn to pods, they deal no damage.
Apart from smacktalk...

The Luftwaffe wheren't just during the **** period of Germany and exist even today.
Good luck with the newbie drive, Goonfleet!

Uh, what?
The Luftwaffe is the German (not Nazí) air force, and is still in use today.
