Edited by: Jakuan on 23/03/2006 13:35:54 Apologies if this has been posted before...
With the upcoming breakout of war between the factions, I read in the planned features page something along the lines that any character can pick what side they will fight for. Personally, I see my involvement in this war as what will probably be my first dip into RP; while that's not especially pertinent to the topic, it does have the consequence that, provided I can choose sides, IÆm likely to fight on the side of the Gallente.
And why would a stalwart defender of the Caldari State fight for the Gallente?
Personally, I hate the Amarr. Not in a, ôI wish they werenÆt in the gameö way; they add an awesome flavour to the proceedings. But from an RP perspective, I have two issues; firstly, me no likely ebil slavers, and secondly û IÆve every suspicion that the Amarr will first subvert and then enslave the State. Fighting alongside those that protect freedom to do business (even if they slaughtered our home world) is preferable to fighting with those that would happily see the State with a chronic Vitoc addiction. The only reason IÆm currently *****ing out to a Caldari agent is in hope of a Navy Ravenà
So, I was wondering û Who are you planning to fight for? Any shock decisions? IÆm assuming we can still pick sides; if we canÆt, IÆd better head to Gallente space to pimp my standings a bit.

Will "no one" be a viable answer to that question? If I must choose a side, I'd fight for the Gallente. But I'd much rather try to be on friendly terms with everyone, except maybe the Amarr. I loathe slavers.

Of course! I'm curious as to how the form of warfare will play out, as I think it'd be a bit unfair to force everyone to fight if they don't want to... Or is that err-ing on the side of political, like the Conscis\conshys of WW2 & Vietnam? And every major conflict, really... Speaking of which, I wonder if those that don't choose a side will suffer the a faction standing hit from the stigma of the above?

I don't know about you but ehm.. most people who start playing EVE don't look too damn deeply into the stats of their toons. Right, up until the missile nerf though the Caldari were overpowered. Hence a lot of people played them.

I will, of course, fight for the Caldari State. It's simply logical.
The Gallente are drug-riddled anarchists, intent on disrupting the natural order of things for a delusional "freedom" that really only places the power in the hands of inefficient lobbiests and keeps their people idle.
The Minmatar are slaves, born and bred. With the establishment of their own republic, they *could* be a productive society... but instead they waste their time cavorting with the Gallente and trying to get "revenge" on the Amarr over things long past.
The Amarr, while a noble people, allow their strong religious beliefs to get in the way of building a better society. Hopefully, as our allies, they can learn to look beyond their narrow viewpoint and see the vast opportunities for profit that lie in the outer reaches, and of course in potential Jovian technology.... but you didn't hear that from me.

The Amarr empire will once again rise up and crush the heathen enemies of the empire. The minmatar are inferior and born slaves (just look at their ships) and will face the wrath of Amarr Lazer Beams Pew Pew Pew.
As for Gallante and their unholy alliance with the minmatar, further more their corrupt government (excluding Quafe corp, because we all love Quafe am i right!) will be crushed by the searing protons of the Empires Lazer Beams.
Why is a caldari citizen siding with the Amarr empire? Well this one time i was on a business trip and this Amarr trader showed me how an Amarr propulsion system works and boy was i surprised. Amarr ships actually employ hamster wheels fitted out with Minmatar slaves.
This idea was so ingenious and cost effective that i instantly fell in love with Amarr ships. _______________________________________________________

Taxes have always been in, you pay a fraction of the cost of selling your wares to the station owners, nothing new here, move along, you got people to see classes to go to!
So where did all this start? Who started this rumour, or is there a dev link?
I had info form a good friend of mine that the four empires will go to war with a station in Yulai being popped.
But Concord would be blaimed for not stopping this act, even though intel was out on the news (giving players time to evac), and it still happened.
Therefore Concord would pull out, each empire would have their own race defending its gates. With 0.4 Between each empire.
With the races cutting off contact with eachother, smugling will become very popular, due to some parts/goods that are only avaliable in each empire.
During this time there will be many npc wars, with players may choose to fight along, with each npc having bounty.
But near the end of the war, when each races has use most of its gear/time/effort, the Jove will see this weekness and attack.
Therefore their agents will finally be open to public use.
Just what I herd...

THE HOUR OF THE RECLAIMING IS ALMOST AT HAND
Be not fools and side with the misguided Minmatar for they and all who support them shall be crushed mercilessly. The path to freedom is the path to an unmarked grave.
It is the Amarrian destiny to rule. The Minmatar shall bend their knee and their women shall lament and wail for their defeated warriors.
Our magnificent golden fleets will blot out suns and extinguish worlds. All who oppose shall be cleansed by the holy light of our lasers.
We shall enslave the rebellious Minmatar and in our mercy enlighten them as to their true value and place in the universe.
In a few thousand years they may just pass for citizens and our job shall be done...
Then we shall start on the next race of inferiors!

Amarr will be burned right down to the bedrock. Their empire will be sundered to bits. The universe will know them nevermore
The Caldari puppets of Amarr will be consigned to prison/mining barges for the rest of eternity.
Together the Republic and the Federation will boldly step forward into the universe and a new age of freedom and prosperity.

As long as you don't have to actually join the corp to take part in the factional warfare, I'm in.
If so, then I will join "The Syndicate" and declare war on the whole of empire as I have always wanted to :p

I'll join either the Gallente or the Syndicate.
Gallente because of their ideals for freedom, and the Syndicate because those ideals don't seem to extend to the Intaki or Mannar, both of their homeworlds are in low sec space, Intaki being 0.1, and Mannar being 0.3.
We'll see what happens.
A devil I may be, but I am trying to help you. You just don't realise it yet. |

In other games I usually pick the most scientific orientated race, but since Eve doesn't have such a race I will stick with the Minmatar. I don't like some aspects of their background, but the ships look quite cool and I hate slavers. [;)] Or maybe I go with one of the smaller factions, if that is possible.
I would like to bring up another Question: Do you think the choice of ships available to you should be limited to the ships of the faction you are fighting for and maybe its allies? From a RP point of view it would definitely make sense, and you would actually see proper, uniform looking fleets fighting each other, not just some ragtag mob of ships. I would like that, but looking at how popular it is to fly other races ships I guess a lot of people won't. (puts on his flameproof underwear)

If they'd come with this a year back, then my choice would've been easy: Minmatar.
But they come with it at the end of this year and my loyalties lie elsewhere. Perhaps SOE comes closest _

Well, the Caldari aren't exactly allied with the Amarr...they support whoever's winning. It's only good business. The only group you can really say is allied with the Caldari are the Khanid.

The Minmatar and Gallentes are an alliance among friends. The Caldari and Amarr are just friends because they hate another empire more.
In any case, I think the end result will be that the old empires will burn themselves away, with the pod pilot empires rising in their place. CONCORD will still be around to protect macro miners new players. ---- "Well in this case, he's being flamed, and rightly so, for whinning about a game mechanic that doesn't actually exist." -Lorth |

just a question, how come amarr and gallente arent on good terms? or dont have any gall/amarr faction type ships?
edit: lasers and drones anyone?
The Gallente armed and trained the Minmatar during their rebellion. Granted, this was partially in response to the Amarr blowing up a Gallente senator (who had come uninvited into Amarr space), though there were outside forces manipulating all sides, which characters in the game are not generally aware of.
