OK, I'm starting to get a little bit annoyed at the perceived wealth levels of us vets so I thought I'd ask.... am I the only retail/beta veteran thats permanently skint?
I've never had more than 250mil, I've never had a BPO, a dread, carrier, starbase, or anything worth more than a couple of Battleships, and I'm starting to get paranoid that I'm the only one.....
prove me wrong, let the community know that you're not a student or a layabout with more hours per day to play games than you've had birthdays. Me, I'm a working parent and I feel lucky to get a couple of hours playing a night.
Is is coz I is not EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEME!?

Edited by: mirel yirrin on 06/04/2006 18:17:09 I've been playing a tad under 2 years, and I have 28mil in my wallet, 2 BS, 5 Assorted TII frigates, several cruisers and a couple of assorted frigs and haulers.
Also, about 600mil in assorted stuff scattered over about 6 regions.

I get to play on average about 3-4 hours a day, more when theres a corp op or something fun happening. ---------------------------------

I've been playing since release, more or less, and I've never really had anything more expensive than a battleship and some random gear and smaller ships. I don't think I've even come close to 200 million in stuff and ISK, maybe 150 million at some point..

It depends on your frame of mind, not your characters age. I'm not a hoarder and ISK is just a number, it doesn't influence my game experience. I'll be just as happy with 20m ISK in my wallet as I am with 900m.

Mm, same. I just can't resist that extra shiney chunk of sexy TII or Faction. I make up excuses that it would be useful for something.

Been playing just under two years, many billions in assets (including some investment-type stuff), but only 50m actual ISK at the moment. Fly T2, any ship I lose, I have multiple backups.
I also have a full time job, but I earned my start-up capital when I was a student, and once you have enough, ISK makes ISK.

I think you might be "isk poor" but "friends rich" right? And add to that your probably relvusion at the idea of pvp\piracy?
Perhaps you've spent more of your time on "mining ops" as a member of a team versus something that is more lucrative?
All these questions I have are suggestive of reasons for your poor isk situation.
In some absolute sense, that is a very very low amount of isk to have after two years.
Last night I ganked a Raven and made three times that in loot I sold. The night before I sold three cap II rechargers for 50 million that I got from a lootcan of a ship I destroyed. That's like 4 times your wealth level and I certainly would never suggest I'm four times as good as you or anything like that. So it's something else to explain the difference m8. Eve offers freedom of choice in terms of what you do in game. Wealth accumulation is not necessarily the measuring stick for everyone.
It is for me, but what do I know, I'm just a pirate

I'll sort of have to agree with you there, I do have a fair amount of modules and tags etc, as well as one of almost every T2 Minmatar ship. TBH though, getting podded would seriously hurt atm, 30+mil for a new clone would put me further into debt than I've ever been

Ive played beta and every moment since. Been a strict PvE player and have ONLY done missions. I am just NOW about to reach 1 billion isk.. almost 3 years to do it. You must also look at your assets, if you dont have a lot of money if your wallet look around you. Funny thing is, once I get 500-600 mil isk more (MISSIONS ONLY) I going to spend every last isk on my Rattlesnake Battleship :) 3 Years for this 1 moment... I hope its all worth it. Sorry I cant post this with my main..I dont want to be anymore of a target for them pirates

I'm not exactly PvP averse, as those who know what I've done and where I've been will attest to, I just can't afford it.... ok, so I probably could afford it, but I'm also a bit hamstrung by my RP morals and lack of RL cash for multiple accounts

it depends on how long you play for and what you do most, a lot of people if they had mined or agent *****d from the word go and avoided any real way to lose isk will be stinking rich, especially if they partook in the old pre-exodus trading system (like uranium trading to 0.0)
the alternative is pure luck of T2 bpos, anyone with the key bpo's like cap recharger II, power diagnostic II, bcu II will be raking isk in by the bucket load for what is a much lower cost in time for producing the units compared to T2 ships.
in my case, im a casual player so maybe a couple of hours a night if im lucky and i mostly pvp'ed for last 2 years so had very little isk, after cold war I only have time to complete a few lvl 3 misisons, and dont play long enough to complete most lvl 4's in the time i play so Im one of the poor ones right with ya Vic though proverbially rich in experience some may say....

It's all good. Hence, my little blurb about ppl being able to define what "fun" is in Eve on their own terms which might have nothing to do with wealth. In fact one interesting answer in a thread about what one would do with 5 billion isks if they had it, one person stated he would "invest in friendships." I thought that was a very good answer. Although sometimes friendships tend to not be as resilent as perhaps they should be when people get too embroiled in this game or what not, but that's a whole other discussion.

I guess I am among one of those OP is acusing. :p
heck I played about 12 or 13 months, with slightly more than 200 mil on hand, and a handful of ships total worth less than 200 mil.
I never considered myself rich, but with the skills I have and the ship I fly, I can make isk much faster than newbies.
And not very much relevant to this post, I can easily afford the lose of my clone(would be another story if it has implant on it), what I can't afford to lose, is my battleship with just standard gears. ------------------------------------------- "Death is just the beginning..." |

Thing is it's the word 'perceived'...
Granted the way these threads allways go, you would think just about everybody in the game is virtualy skint....
So many , never had more thans.....
I dunno, i think it's just the majority of the more proactive players in general.. just happen to involve themselfs on the forum... You get the opinion that everybody is nice and flush from that...
Rounding up a figure id say it's probaly only about 30% (pushing it) that have any serious money in the game.

Not sure if I have crossed the "line" to veteran but, I don't have a lot of ISK.
Simply because making ISK in itself is not fun. PvP, now that's fun. Especially in small groups. I rat when there are no targets...
Currently have about 39 mil to my name.

I've been both rich and poor.
At one point, I sort of lost interest in having a large wallet, and just work towards whatever ship I want to fly at the moment.
I do have a nice collection of ships that I like to fly (no HACs, even though I can fly them).
Then again, I've been largely inactive for a long while now because of RL. I assume that when I finally get back, I'll grind for a little while to get enough isk to do what I want. It's not that hard. ------------------------------------------- "Never underestimate the power of language."
