It would make no difference. After a while all your desired skills are around a month long train, and the limit will always be somewhere.

Also, how is being able to add a skill within that 24 hours, a barrier?
You can still have a long skill time btw, just add a long skill.

It was possible to que skills beyond the 24 hour barrier, maybe it was two weeks, maybe it was one month, the point still remains, it's a nag to have to sit online for an extra hour or two, or log in every single day at the exact right time to que skill training. I agree that the queue could be longer, but there is still a 24hr window where you can add the next skill. 48-72hr would be nice, or maybe just having a minimum of 2 skills (currently training + next) |

This is QFT and I've been playing since 2003.
Now what would be nice is if one character finishes their skill queue and you have skills queued on other characters on the same account that it starts their queues off...but that's just me wanting more.
24 hours is nice and long. I'm currently training a Level 5 to get specialisation but can't queue the specialisation skills until it completes which really annoys me. Buffer skills added so I can add later.
You've just gotta manage what you have to the best of your ability. I've got a long holiday coming up so I know I'll be taking a skill I need to Level 5 while I'm away...just plan ahead and log in once in a while.
I'd suggest EVEQH, EveMON or similar for monitoring skill queues if you don't want to log in. EVEHQ emails me 30 minutes before I have a skill finishing if I'm not logged in (which is rare).
TL;DR: A month long is complete BS. No to a longer skill queue. Learn to manage.

Yeah it's definitely never been possible to queue up skills for a month. Maybe what you're remembering is "ghost training". Before 2008 your skill in training would finish training even if you stopped paying for your account.
But anyway, I don't see how the 24h queue is a problem. It requires some time management when you're going on vacation, or when you're training a new skillset and you have fairly short I, II and III trainings, but even then, you just queue up a big level V in the end and you're done. I don't see how you can have to log in every 24h to change skills over a long period of time. |

You can queue a skill as long as you need it to be. If training "Jump Drive Calibration 5" is going to take 45 days, you start it today and it will keep going for 45 days without your intervention.
What the skill queue allows is the training of a skill that takes less than 24 hours, followed by any other skill you want. Thus if you have a 12 hour skill to train, followed by a 1 week skill, you can queue the two together so that when you come back in a week you will have a small portion of the 1-week-long skill left training.
There is no requirement for you to log in at exactly the same time every day. You just have to log in sometime in the 24 hours before the last skill finishes training so that you can queue up the next training request.

I'm starting to wonder if you are trolling, but in case you are legit here is how it works.
24 hour queue. This means you can add any skills to it up to the 24 hour limit, but as soon as that limit is reached, you cannot add more. But you can add skills that run well after that 24 hour limit.
So say for example you have 4 skills that run for an hour each and another 2 that run for 3. it would be as follows. 1+1+1+1+3+3 =10 hours, but then you can add a skill that could take you 32 days, making your queue 32 days and 10 hours long.
My queue is at present running Tactical Weapons Recon to 5, I have 20 days left. In the 19th day of this skill, it will allow me to add another. I've actually timed it so I end on 200,000,000 SP. I will then add my longest skill, Amarr Titan 5 and it will take me 52 days 51 minutes and 32 seconds.

The best quick and easy solution that will minimise changes would be a 'holdover' skill slot- so you get 24 hours +1 skill that you can queue.
However it's pretty laughable to think that forcing people to log in to update their skill queue is making them play more (they've already payed, anyway), especially with the idea that CREST may allow us to do queues from mobile devices. The skill queue limit is arbitrarily small and causes frustration and SP loss more due to inattentativeness, mistakes, and EVE having an unresonable time demand. A longer queue is better for everyone. |

OP is an idiot. You have NEVER been able to inject a new skill into a que beyond 24 hrs. You could inject a skill that starts within 24hrs that takes 50 days to complete, but you could never inject a skill today to start after a skill that finishes 3 days from now.
I hate sounding like a bitter vet, and I don't believe in the "it was worse before so its fine now" arguments to any idea, but whenever I see skill que expansion rants, I just want CCP to revert back to the days of alarm clocking to change skills at 4am and having to be around every time a 20 minute skill finished to inject another 20 minute skill. |

The 24 hour limit is rather arbitrary. OP wants to increase the limit, but what I haven't really seen from his detractors are good arguments for it existing at all. If we didn't have a limit, would we be fighting tooth and nail to have one? If the limit was 12 hours, would we be fighting to increase it? If it was 7 days, would we be fighting to reduce it to 1?
Sure, bitter vets have a lot of long trains so it effect them least, so would new players benefit more from an extended skill window? Are there technical reasons CCP don't want to make it excessively large? Are we really interested in punishing/alienating/making life difficult people with weird work schedules or intermittent internet access?
People have adapted to how it is now- that doesn't mean it's right. Appeals to tradition/the status quo just aren't convincing. |

Because effort in = reward out.
Let me take an example:
No skill queue: Characters are built that never have to logon in and sold on the Character Bazaar for billions of ISK. No effort = lots of ISK. All the skills are queued when they are created and managed\monitored through EVEHQ or EvEMon.
The queue encourages people to logon and engage and if you don't want to then go and play something else or don't train. Fast Character Switching "XP Stylee" Undocking - More Routes Out of Station Here's my tear jar > |_| < Fill 'er up! |

This. It's not like managing the skill queue is a big time consuming effort anyway. And unless you're really in your first two days, it's very easy to always have a skill queue that goes way beyond 24h. And if you're going to be away for an extended period of time, then plan ahead. |

I suspect that English isn't your first language from most of your replies so yes, that does make sense.
Dual Account Training, IMO, should never have been implemented as it removes the planning need to manage multiple characters training plans. Have used it? Damn right I have because it's there. Now what about the years lost before DCT came in...

Now to your post, it dont make any sense.
If i want to skill a charakter without active playing it, i can do it right now, your statement that "you have to come online to plan and managing" is simply broken.
And to be clear, i dont care if they (CCP) change the Skillqueue or not, its simply a matter of fact that people already do skill Bazar Chars in Jita with or without logging in every now and then.
Because CCP encourage us already with all the changes and discounts.

The skill queue should be 24 hours, as it has always been. Why? There are several arguments against the current scheme, none for it. 1. The queue was meant to eliminate the need for silly hours skill changes. This means you can add or change your skilling, once that 24 hour period has arrived.
2. It gives us the ability to train lots of short time skills, that would have required us to come back and forth to the PC in the days before the queue.
3. It also allows for us to add long skills way past the 24 hour limit. A limit which is only in place to stop skills being added, once the last skill have exceeded that time.
4. It actually adds 24 hours on top of the length of an skill you could add. I.E. My longest skill is the next I have in line for training at 52 days 51 minutes. If I add lots of small skills to my queue, I can train for 53 days.
That's four reasons for it and you have yet to post one against. So far, all you've done is make false claims and misunderstand the queue completely.

The skill queue should be 24 hours, as it has always been. Why? There are several arguments against the current scheme, none for it. 1. The queue was meant to eliminate the need for silly hours skill changes. This means you can add or change your skilling, once that 24 hour period has arrived. Any time within that 24 hour period. Before you needed to wait until the skill finished, before adding another. 2. It gives us the ability to train lots of short time skills, that would have required us to come back and forth to the PC in the days before the queue. 3. It allows for us to add long skills, as we did in the past. At any time we want, or within the end 24 hour period when it suits us. 4. It actually adds 24 hours on top of the length of any skill you could add. I.E. My longest skill is the next I have in line for training at 52 days 51 minutes. If I add lots of small skills to my queue, I can train for 53 days. That's 24 hours longer with the queue, then before without it and with more skills trained. That's four reasons for it and you have yet to post one against. So far, all you've done is make false claims and misunderstand the queue completely.

Your arguments are for the curret vs old (no queue), not for current vs longer Well as his title is Bring back the one month skill queue, that is why.
But why do you need a longer queue than 24 hours? It wasn't ever meant to act as a reason not to log in. In fact CCP specifically stated they did not want that, when they introduced it.
It does exactly what it is designed to do. It add flexibility and does not take anything away from the old system. It only adds to it.

Title and many arguments dont make sence, having the ability to queue over 24 hours should not be dismissed by that alone. Would 24-72 hours be game breaking in any way? Would adding next skill (outside 24 hours) into the queue be game breaking?

Thats why i said outside 24 hours, meaning that you could add a new skill to the queue on friday when you leave for a weekend away and your skill finish saturday evening/sunday morning.
There are also times when you wont know that your unable to log in for 24hours, where a longer queue would be very likely to help you continue to train |

and to those claiming the que used to be longer than 24 hours I'll link the notes for apocrypha, where it states the que was added with a 24 hour limit https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Apocrypha |

if you pay for it what does it matter?
theres always a reason to log on every other thay other than to update your que so there no argument about that it is to keep players active. either they are or they are not.
and i dont see any danger of cheap pilots with lots of skillpoints flooding the market cause the min value will always be plex needed times intrest |

And I have been playing on and off since 2006, which was before skill queues existed. (As in, you needed to log in every 15 minutes to change a skill.) The queue wasn't even added until 2009.
Since ghost training was removed in 2008, I'm not actually seeing the link between it and queues here. |

The reason for a longer skill queue is simple: because the current limitation doesn't accomplish anything except getting in the way and padding metrics.
It's not a hard limitation on 'you must log in and check every day': queue up a long skill and you get to ignore it. It's not preventing characters from skilling up indefinitely while unsubbed: that was already changed. It's not preventing characters from being made, skilled, and sold without interacting with the game, for obvious reasons. It's not preventing people from getting in over their head with permanent decisions: the queue can be changed at any time.
The only thing that it absolutely does do that a longer queue would not is force people to log in even when they're not interested in actually playing right now - whether that's for a few hours or a few days or so on and so on. Whether 'active players in the last 24 hours' as a number is more important than user-friendliness is a thought exercise I leave up to the reader.
Personally, I wouldn't be adverse to allowing you to queue up until the end of your current subscription time, though managing that might be a bit awkward. 7 days is probably the best balance, as most people are going to have the time or interest to play at least once a week without it feeling like some kind of chore, or losing time to not having a long skill in queue when something comes up that keeps them away.

Thats the reason i did not quote anyone, its a general statement and not a personal attack on any spesific person :D Its still true that a longer skill queue would help those with connection problems, dont realy mather what cause those problems be it technical or just RL stuff getting in the way.
The changes dont in any way hurt anyones gameplay as far as i can see, and it would help some to a better experience.
No negative other than dev time that none of us realy know how much would be, and real positive effect on an unknown number of players.
Can even go as far as saying it could bring more players to the game, or at the very least make it easier casual players to stay. |

You just won't listen, will you?
There was never a queue longer than 24 hours, period. Never.
You absolutely did have to set a new skill training manually before the queue was introduced. You had to set a long skill before bed, before work -- basically whenever you logged off. Since the queue was introduced that hasn't been needed and it's been a pretty major quality of life improvement for early character development. It's less critical when all your skills are multi-day affairs but it was pretty crazy having to sit there and just wait for the "skill training completed" voice to know when to start the next one. |

A skill could be added to increase the skill planning time by X hours per level, allowing a little more flexibility in refreshing your skill queue.
I dont like the idea of expanding this too much, but I would personally benefit from having 48 hours rather than 24 hours to refresh my queue in case something came up and I couldnt login for a day. |

I don't like the change. The skill queue in its present state got implemented on the 10th of march 2009 with the launch of Apocrypha v1.0. Before that time there was no skill queue whatsoever. If training ended on a skill, you had to manually insert a new skill to train, more often then not on the weirdest hours of the day. Or night for that matter. At that time it was widely known as 'alarm clock training' as people set alarm clocks to wake up, log in to EvE to insert a new skill to train and go to sleep again.
So you may of course propose a change in the skill queues length to a month, but please do not do so on the premise that it was historically so. It wasn't. ISD Ezwal Commander Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) Interstellar Services Department |

I recall a time when paying me vast sums of isk or assets gave you a year long skill queue.
Well if I am gonna invent history why not make some profit :)
More on topic though
No there is no real reason a month long skill queue would be game breaking however there is no real reason to change from the existing 24h system either... So lets stick to the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
OK so you may not have a stable connection well 2 step solution :)
1. DL client onto a laptop 2. Go to Starbucks (having lived in various countries around the world the godawful coffee shops (personal opinion) are everywhere) they have free internet, sufficient to change a queue :)
Although I would like to comment that in my humble opinion if your home internet is too unstable to log on for a 2 minute skill change then paying $10 a month for the game may just be wasting money. Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.
