Zezzing Nerfed, and forum ******
It's Official.
The Zezman Maneuver is now no longer in the game. Leaving one npc pirate alive no longer prompts further spawning of npc pirates.
Thanks CCP, I really appreciate having another fun challenging part of earning money in a risky endeavor removed. We didn't really need all those pirate loot items after all.
I am now looking for another online game. Any suggestions? I will not tolerate any further nerfs.

Well since you're quitting EVE because of "nerfs" here's a list of online games you might enjoy that don't suffer from the same exact problems:

I have to say that despite the numerous bugs, glitches, and nerfs, agents have gotten a very nice boost. I just did an agent mission which rewarded me with a low slot module that increases all armor resistances by 15% each, 20k isk, and a .5 increase in my sec status

You have to pick an item twice to repackage it. The first time it doesn't appear on the list so you can not rightclick on it to repair it. But if you just pick item twice it will show up on the list.
You have to rightclick the drones now to repair them.. Before, the repackage button would say repair all if the drones were damaged. Now you have to right click and repair the drones first. Biggest problem with this, 100 players a day in the Help channel asking how to repair drones again.
5 R&D Agents, 10months, Zero BPO Offers.. Onboard navigational [Planetary Avoidance] computer.
My account will be suspended at the end of the current play period. Expires on 19. September 2004 |

Well, aside from most of the above...
BAD STUFF: * I always attach my 'drone bay window' to the top of my chat window. When I do that now, after closing it will not open anymore until I relog, then it's open once * in the drone window (after launching), some how the ctrl-select changed, at least for me, to shift-select * would not let me type more then one sentence per 30 sec. in Corp chat *honk* noise (lag?), no problems in other chats * drones still won't attack over 20km * did in-space icons get bigger, changed, what? somehow there seems to be a lot more of them
GOOD STUFF * Mining Drone skills works! Finally! * I like the new graphics on the gear we have * Drones packed quite a punch when I tested them
Just because we are paranoid, doesn't mean you're not out to get us. |

Hear hear.
It's been said before, and even in this post, which nobody other than about 3 posters appears to have read.
The guy who does the interface changes is *not* the same guys that does the weapons balancing, who is *not* the same guy that does the loot tables, who is *not* the same guy that does the network code, who is... etc.
Other than a few CTD's, I haven't had too many problems.
Also, a lot of the people posting here need to learn how to put in a useful complaint.
Comments like 'mail window sucks' aren't very helpful to anyone. Try adding *why* it sucks, then maybe they can improve it. Or if you're just scared of change say something like 'hey! I'm scared of change, and the mail window changed. This gives me the fear. Maybe it would be better if you...<suggestion>'
Personally, I hated the old mail interface with a passion. But it worked. So I had no complaints, really.
The only things that I have issues with in this patch are the scrolling bug (well known), the avatars in the chat/mail windows being too big (an option to turn them off altogether would be nice, or maybe just to shrink them), and I had a wierd problem in an asteroid belt..
I was testing the new pirates abilities, by doing the exact same thing I did before the patch, ie. full rack of neut blasters, 2 gauss mods and two tracking comps, and 'other' items. I then drift to the belt 'marker' and invite the pirates over. This was going okay, and I took out a spawn of two. As I was collecting their guts, I noticed a group of 5 more rats. The only trouble being that they had spawned 65km away from belt-centre. I et up to approach them, and realised they were going in the opposite direction.
I have no idea why they would do this, but it might be worth looking at.
Other than that I found Eve to run smoother than before last night (although this might be due to my foreshortened prefs.ini)
Oh, and the 'not saving prefs' can be a bit of a pain, although not earth shattering.
If I think of any more, I'll add them. .

When I log on, the e-mail icon blinks. When I click it, none of the actual messages blink, so I have no idea which messages are unread.

Why the [blazes] do we tolerate this bull[plop]? If this were a car, it would be recalled every single week. Would you put up with that? No, I didn't think so.
yeah, but for starters, cars don't cost $40 new, and generally cost more that 13$ a month to run.
Not to mention cars are rather simple. 90% of it is bolts and metal.
a bit of a poor comparison.
as for losing your zezzing exploit, you *had* to see that coming, surely.*
Personally, I never used it, I just let the last one attack me until he calls for backup, etc.
*yes, it is an exploit. They are not supposed to sit 10km away and watch you kill their mates. maybe not a 'bad' exploit, but an exploit all the same. But to say you can now no longer farm pirates is ridiculous. You can, and it's still fairly easy.
And I say to you, and many, many others, there's no need to swear. If you think it makes your point look more important, it doesn't. If you think they pay more attention to you because of foul language, they won't.
people, post calmy, and avoid lies/exaggeration/ranting/whining
And maybe read the patch notes, as a lot of the issues raised here are actually mentioned in the patch log. (CPU reduction, etc.) .

There now numbers behind there names to see how mnay unraid mails u have, and u see V when u did. But How can they ever released this patch with so many problemes its like EA with there C&C Generals game... Totaly ruined the game and now CCP does quite the same to EVE, But a MMORPG is far worse to *screw* up for a week then a RTS with 600 people max compare to 5000 in EVE.

Btw, I won't be doing anything risky in the near future, since I CTD a lot now (didn't do that before).
On the bright side, I can now see my ships visually in the hangar when docked again.

Red/green color of required skills on the Req. Skills tab now almost blend into the background.
The more emphasized category headlines in the Attributes tab of a ship makes it a lot easier to read

If i had sat down and thought about the worst patch they could have done I wouldnt have even been close to this abomonation.
I can only imagine they are trying to drive everyone away from EVE so they dont have to bother anymore.

Edited by: Melonie on 18/09/2003 09:37:04 Edited by: Melonie on 18/09/2003 09:35:54 My skill bonuses are not working on my bestower. In the station everything looks fine, but when I undock I cannot activate all my mods and the error message indicates that I have 30 power when it should be 36 (Engineering level 4). The cargo bay shows that I have 3500m3 of cargo room, which is the base value of cargo capacity on my bestower. My Amarr Industrial level 3 skill is ignored, as are my 4 18% expanders. The problem does not occur on any other ships I have

You have avery poor imagination then
I can imagine a patch that downloads a virus to everyone in your address book, format's your c drive, overclocks the fsb in your bios causing your processor to overclock and start a fire. Your house then burns down, taking with it the insurance documents and killing all of your family members.
If you look at it in this light, you will see that this has been a very succesful patch indeed

I can't open my cargo hold. Kinda annoying
Oh, and one more thing. Can you guys at CCP make a patch removing all the whining?
When normal people don't like a game they stop playing it. When eve-ppl don't like the game they whine endlessly on this forum. Bug?

Cons:
- Slow redraw or refreshing on almost any window in station. Before it was way smoother. - Market not displaying items in the generalized window. Icon of Show info e market stats not working sometimes. - Pref not saving. - Friend (corp) brackets useless now. It was waaay better before - Local and corp chat bugged (wrong updates) - Windowed mode SERIOUSLY messed up. Exiting the game to fiddle with options while in windowed mode cause game to crash. Playing the game with antialiasing set to quinqunx in windowed mode may cause the game to badly flicker or to stutter. Antialiasing seem to casue problems also in non-windowed mode.
Pros:
- Seems a less laggy now, more fluid gameplay (when it works) - LOVE the new accelerationa and decelleration times.:) - Love the new missiles (speed, req to build, stack size) - Love my new Hybrid.:) - Love new entering-warp times - Love new "orbit at" distances - Love the new "static" ship in station... the old one was giving me nausea after a while.:)
Mixed feelings really... try to fix the nasty bugs arised with this new patch and we're all happy campers then.:)

Well there is one thing that as been fixed, but I wish it wasn't. The warning that appears when you switch skill training now actually means something. I lost about 12 hours of skill training time. Not going to petition it though as the warning was very clear (as it always has been).

- If it ain't broke, don't fix it
- No more "mega patches"

Edited by: Intruders on 18/09/2003 11:33:17 HELP!!
memory behaviour: There is a huge memory leak after 10 minutes of being in space, its tottaly unplayable, not to mention the CTD's again.
Damage and refire rates: seem to act on their own, sometimes modules stack, sometimes they do not, sometimes it seems weapons do any damage they like by default, sometimes they do none.
Texel alligment: is tottaly screwed up, im an ATI user and no option from the default ATI UI settings helped to fix the garbled fonts and the game seems like the pixel overlay is broken, it is like blurred.
edit:
EVE-Mail: Forgot to mention about the mail client, is screwed, I see mails arriving but they re nowhere to find them, I could be able to find them before the immediate server down yesterday night, now I only get a character list of some people I used to have to my buddy list and were deleted and some that I indeed have them in my list.
Modules: The characterisation of modules is not working when I hover the cursors over them anymore, the icons of the modules in my hangar or cargo bay seem "heavier" now, takes more time to load and seem to consume more memory than before to load in my gfx card.
Map: No characterization of any kind above star systems anymore where I used to hover the cursor and get the details, rendering the map unusable.
Ore: bug is still here. Tinny roids
Targeting modules: They still bugged they wont update/reflect their status on my weapons unless I kill some NPC's first. Before patch used to be that I had to shoot a few times and the stats were kind of properly updated.
Behaviour from Incoming damage: Missiles splash damage push is screwed, it seems they push my ship more and sometimes less by same type of NPC missiles, a disturbing effect then appears, the ship idol seems to be replicated by double and causes frame rate drops, after this and after its fixed by itself the frame rates drop and stay this way untill I relog back. Kind of it seems an extra added vissual effect on this patch was screwed.

I would rather see 1 item only fixed, amd I mean really fixed, in a patch than what we are putting up with in 1215. I would rather see us rolled back to 1166 than struggle with all the broken parts of the GUI...my viuew..thanks

A product that is constantly being changed and adjusted is never "finished." If you want to play a finished product, don't play online games.

Because in the end, despite all the whiners who insist otherwise, it's worth the wait for a fun and interesting game.

I won't bother listing the 15,000 reasons why a car cannot be compared with a piece of software.
If you had even the slightest glimmer of an idea what it takes to design, implement and maintain an application on the scale of EVE - let alone making continual updates to it while trying to fix existing problems - you would not be on these forums *****ing about CCP.
If you don't want to deal with bugs and problems, and the occasional mishap such as this patch, then I recommend trying a genre outside online gaming. Perhaps 'Scrabble' will be less likely to disappoint you.
I can already see your posts on the Scrabble Players Forum. "Hasbro nerfed my letter tiles again! Why do we put up with this ****!?"
