I think there's a massive memory leak somewhere. I was running eve no problem for many hours before the patch, and now after an hour windows complains of a lack of virtual memory. the whole system is using 1 gig, and the eve process is using 100 meg - 10 minutes after the warnign, the eve process simply dies...
Oh yeah, the new mail is not good, I'd suggest dropping it back to the old version personally, bu ti guess i'll get used to it if i can stay in the game long enough.
Finally, good luck CCP. this is gonna be a hella bug chase. You have my best wishes and my continued subscription.

The patch deleted my prefs.ini file. i have to set my preferences for everything again
I CTD'd and everytime I try to get back in I get the message "proxy not connected". The problem is not at my end, since I obviously can still post here
When I get into the game hopefully I will have some more positive feedback --------------------------- (c) Copyright Saladin, 2005. Any editing of this post by a third party will be in violation United States Internet Copyright law 46525 of 2003. |

I've had the deleted preferences, constant crashes (CTD, server node and a strange transport communication problem too), some agent info missing, icons disappearing in cargo containers and cargo hold leaving just black squares with old quantity.
This patch is not of release quality, and it alledged to improve memory problems where actually it is a hell of a lot worse. This needs to be tested on some low end machines, not on the local network for several horus at a time ... and the develorpes would have a whole host of answers that they have missed for patch after patch! Sort it out CCP, you really made people want this patch, despite the nerfs, and what you've delivered has shocked many of us with its immense bug introduction! We joked that that would happen, we hoped it wasn't going to be true. Way to prove the cynics right!

I've got no major problems.
My prefs were reset, only took a few minutes to get everything back the way I like it.
My station view wasn't rotating, that took all of 3 minutes to figure out.
With the news that the bps will be released tomorrow, I have no complaints.
I imagine you are having to do the BP update tomorrow due to the DB problems today. =)

I was running this program fine up till this patch and now I'm getting a "proxy not connected" error.
I was supposed to go out and buy up several of the new BP's for my corp, but I can't log in...

Whats Bad:
1) Sometimes you can not rotate the camera around your ship properly.
2) Clicking on either the info or advanced market buttons in the market do not work.
3) Still getting frequent CTD errors.
Whats Good:
1) The new mail system allthough taking some getting use to is actually more user friendly once you get the hang of it.
2) Being able to flip Corp members alphbetically
3) the new drones and BP's
4) Miner II's and BP's

Bugs:
-CTD'd twice while initiating jumps at star gates. Appears to be an 'Entering Space' error.
-List of my ships in-station opens when docked.
-Mail system tells me I have new mail each time I log on when I do not.
-Forced full-screen.
Good things:
-Sound bug seem to be fixed, no more looping warping sound.
-I notice a lot less lag opening cargo holds and reading local/corp both of which appear to be operating fine.

Take note that ranting, flaming, etc doesn't belong here. Please post your concerns ina civilised manner, refrain from ranting and trolling.
I assure you the people who need to are listening.
Thanks.
Update: Please read this post.
You're quite right in reminding us not to flame & troll, however it's questionable how much people can be expected to behave themselves after the frustrations caused by today's patch.
I can't begin to explain the frustration felt in my corp alone because of the problems today.
- mail system is shocking, bring the old one back - mouse over broken - graphics (especially icons) seem to have taken a step backwards not forwards - CTD have increased exponentially - ship icons/symbols incorrectly applied - massive increase in lag
I could go on but those are some of the most frustrating bugs found by our corp today.
I can't help but say it, there was a massive amount of trepidation and expressions of dismay over so much change being implemented at once, yet CCP still went ahead with the uber patch. There is little wonder it has been an unmitigated disaster.
Take it easy guys and please please please in future give us little and often, not lots in one go.
Hopefully that was gentle enough feedback.

I donÆt know how much more I can add that hasnÆt already been pointed out. My general complaint is plain and simple: poor. Playability, patch quality, implementation... all poor.
Certain aspects that really didnÆt need fixing (mail) got totally reworked and made worse. Things that badly needed fixing were either ignored or made worse. I will likely continue playing Eve, but I am terribly disappointed. Whereby before I would stick with Eve regardless of what hapenned, now I will stick with Eve only until I find something better. If patches like this are what we can expect, ôbetterö won't be very hard to find. Bummer, it really is.

I have been playing MMOs for several years now and seen 30 or more patches in my day. CCP I can tell you quite plainly, the UI content in this one was NOT ready for release. Frankly I was amazed that you would release something with this many immediately obvious bugs. You need to rollback the UI. Never mind trying to hotfix the bugs, there are simply too many and they are too disrupting to game play. Just rollback, properly fix the new UI, and re-release it again a couple patches down the road.

Edited by: s0cks on 17/09/2003 22:53:36 - good gun nerfs except...
- tachyon laser (and with shield hardner nerf + stacking nerf these things will rip BS's with not many med-slots to bits - already seen 1000+ wrecking)
- rubbish inbox - rubbish chat - rubbish new attribute layout - rubbish character sheet layout
- online/offline status of buddies still bugged
- weapons sometimes do not deactivate
- drones seem less responsive (maybe just me?)
- promised BP's not for sale
- medium hull repair still only does 50hp repair compaired to 240hp from armour repairs
- tracking disrupter graphics still bugged
- tracking disrupter graphics still don't turn off when the module is turned off either
- prefrences not saved/remembered (except colours)
- and prolly more to come...

- Hangers and other tabs often having to be opened / refreshed repeatedly because they show empty. This happens on all windows, also chat windows.
- Offices at stations not spaced properly - all the text gets cut off - unreadable.
- Recycling tab - icons for "refine" way too big, overlap with number of items, so you can't read how much ore you have as the icon overlaps the number.
- Wasn't there supposed to be an in-context right-click for refining????
- Green corp boxes way too dull to see, need to be much brighter etc.
- Members hangers not openable
- Corp members not alphabetical
- WTF mouse-over all dead, dead, dead.

First of guys the patch has been being tested by people myself included.
I will also say this the patch did seem extremely good on chaos.
But also chaos only has 15 people there on average so it's a wee bit hard to load test it.
All I can say is no more mega patches, just how about small weekly ones eh?

I second that!
And also..
The game flow seems a bit smoother, so the opening of the local, corp, (you name it) windows, but the Texel bar is gone and before patch my fonts were ok and now they screwed again like I tweaked my gfx card. Mostly the Texel bar helped to correct the fonts for my ATI 9700 Pro with all settings to full detail..which btw make ATI cards run games smoother (than the expected opposite result of slowing down), especially if you donate all the 256k system memory to the said gfx card, which is weird.. but hey!

I wasnt in space long enough to see all of these things. But I agree with Elfman, the Mailbox scared me and was much more civilized before. And while I am a variable noob, having only installed the game last week. I was in beta, and my fond memories from beta, and the fact that I found the box for 12 bucks, drew me back. And for the last week much that I recalled from beta returned... I will go pudder around more, before casting final judgement...
Though patches tend to have ways of acting in chaotic ways. As I am a much more chaotic being than most, and have a firm understanding of how truly wonderful Entropy can be...

Why bother with UI changes? UI was FINE. Fix the bugs not the stuff that works!
- rollback to the old gui. - box besides corpmates ship in space was fine. - mailbox was fine.
- prefs not saving sucks. - when switching to and from fullscreen mode, I lost the main chat window (local). - CTD unprovoked 3 times today, that never happened before (I was just idling in space, alone in sys)
Again: EVE is full of bugs! Changing the code you are confident about will not do! Roll up the sleeves and fix the bugs. --

Edited by: Keo Morigan on 17/09/2003 23:54:02 oh my, why did you touched the friggin UI? Why did you messed with everything that was good, and not the bugged ****? Either rollback or fix this within 2 days..
Can't remember all problems but...
- I can't see the difference between player ships anymore. BS or Frigate? None knows.
- Market window is ****** up and get blank sometimes, you can't scroll sometimes, or can't buy stuff at the bottom, cause you can't see the buy button.
- Chat is messed up, same symptoms as market windows.
- Weapons stop sometimes.
- Settings don't save correctly.
- Login window don't get affected by colour changes.
etc. etc.....So when is the rolllback?
If your not a part of the solution, then you'r probably a part of the problem. |

Before the patch the game ran fine. But now:
1. I have choppy framerates as well as longer "load" times when warping to gates, stations, belts, ect. (This is not the same as the chat lag... which has gotten worse)
2. When I pan my camera up or down I am getting these horizontal lines that seem to blink in and distort the background in space. Doesn't matter how fast or slow I pan I always get them. It doesn't do it when panning from left to right. It is nasty as hell and makes the back ground look like it is broken up into strips and not aligned with eachother properly.
Any suggestions?

Very disappointing :(
Almost 5 weeks since the last patch and I'm not convinced that anything has improved much.
If it's going to take another 5 weeks to fix this patch, well, I guess someone will be asking for my stuff.
Good to see that CCP have an abundance of resources working to fix things like the mail system that everyone was complaining about, and the amount of whines about the green box next to corpmates must have been just too much to bear.
Is tech 2 becoming "vapourware"? Ah! no, it was more important to re-balance the weapons so that everyone and their uncle with a battleship will use tachyon beams.
I think it might be an idea to make a list of everything in the game that people are happy with, then CCP will know exactly which items to fix for the next patch. Maybe we could get the colours of the roids changed...omber could be blue to show that it has isogen in it, etc. Haven't heard anyone complaining about the roid colours, so must be due for a change.
Please excuse my frustration, been playing since May 6th.

agreed that the new ui is awful compared to the previous patch. i much prefered the previous version of the character-sheet, and i feel even the factory-slot/sci-slot arrangement was better looking and easier to read in the previous version. pleeeeese at least rollback the ui if not anything else.

You need a relog to see a new member in member list after accepting application. Is this critical? No, but not that hard to issue an update when someone has signed up, is it? --- --- No matter how fast light travels it finds the darkness always got there first, and is waiting for it. - Terry Pratchett |

I can't log in at all after the patch - just get a blank screen when it should go to character select.
BTW for those of you who don't know anything about software developement and are whining that they are upgrading the UI while more fundamental bugs/problems remain, this is because it's different programmers that do these tasks, ie junior and senior respectively. So one doesn't necessarily detract from the other. ____________________________________

It would appear that 100% of all comments are in agreement that the rules and settings of the game shouldn't be changed or altered during gameplay, that is, as long as Eve is running.
These changes are beyond nerfs, they are in fact, complete alterations.
One of the things I look for in a fun and enjoyable online game is some stability. I'd like to play a game that has the same rules of play from when I first learned them, until now, and on into the far future.
With that in mind, I would like to suggest that CCP stop all changing and alterations now. Fix the bugs that are in fact, bugs, and reverse the nerfs.
Chant with me!
REVERSE THE NERFS! REVERSE THE NERFS! REVERSE THE NERFS!

Framerate and connection are fine for me, but I have to agree with the comments about UI changes. It was fine before and surely there are more important things to be dealing with? Loss of mouseovers (tooltips) is very irritating. Changing the icons for 'permanent' containers i.e. drifting casks and flotsam is great. Having the same icons for the sentry guns is not so great. Why on earth were they changed? The old sentry gun icons were fine. I'm also finding a suspiciously high percentage of 'permanent' containers are empty. Out of around 25 I opened, all were empty.. What's going on?
