Could I just ask why, when the patch was supposed to be about balancing rather then new content, everything has been balanced apart from Tachyons?
Regardless of their cap/powergrid usage, they are still grossly overpowered.

- Corporation window does not resize horizontally
-Channels are very very laggy.
-Preferences are not saving properly.
-Member hangars aren't working.
-Modules icons are blurred, fuzzy, or very high contrast.
-Hangars with lots of modules do not refresh and often the wrong icon is showing for modules
-Corporation member list was in alphabetical order pre-patch but now isn't.

-Tracking computers do not boost the tracking. They are increasing your optimal range though.
-The new tags to show members of the same corp. etc are LOW visibility. Bring back the old visible tags.
-The scanner is worse than it ever was.

Edited by: agrizla on 17/09/2003 21:30:08 Most of the "regular" things that an avaerage user sees are bolloxed :
1) Local and corp is broken again; 2) Mouse-overs (or hovering) doesn't work in most instances; 3) The mail box is worse than anyone from MS could ever have designed. Related note here - get someone who actually understands UI design to work on the cosmetics. The current guy excels in making it as non-intutive as he possibly can; 4) TomB needs serious peer review. Sorry but he does. After all the posts on balancing we end up with Tachyons > anything else. Hardeners got a double nerf because he failed to see that the revised stacking algorithm corrected the Scorpion being a tank. He double nerfed all the "little guys" in cruisers instead. Module balancing needs a fresh set of eyes because TomB is (IMHO) too close to it; 5) For the love of god please find someone who is competent with SQL. Every time you guys do "database maintenance" nodes fall over for days on end.
There's loads more but to be quite frank I can't be bothered typing it, and if that doesn't tell you something then quite frankly I don't know what will

Edited by: Sarkos on 17/09/2003 21:29:51 Problems detected so far:
1) Sever choppy lag coming out of warp. 2) New mail is horrible, the old one worked fine. 3) Projectile turrets lock RED sometimes in combat 4) Plotting a course on AP for a system 3 jumps away resulted in a 15 jump planned trip. I needed to try and clear waypoints 5 times for the correct one to occur. 5) I keep getting asked the same prefference over and over, even though I have checked the little 'do not ask again' box each time. 6) My people have reported an alarming amount of CTD's as well as system lock ups. 7) Bring back passwords on secure containers. It was the only way to protect our property from griefers who exploited system lag. 8) Many gates are becoming Black Holes. I'm stuck in one at Amarr right now. 9) The best weapon in the game just got nastier. Tachyon needs a good swat with the NERF bat.
That's about it for now, will keep you posted.
Either free the slaves or we will come and get them.

I didn't mind tac shields being 50% but to mess with the stacking was just too much to bear.
Please introduce 2 slots per hi turret - one for ammo and one for a dmg mod.
Combined with new/revised dmg mods that favour high ROF or high DMG means we can choose either way for a particular gun.

Edited by: H3R0 on 17/09/2003 21:34:41 In the 5 minutes I give u my thoughts from me. Checking ut the new mailsytem, no big thoughts there, seing giant windows covering my whole ingamescreen cant see where I am. Well I just close them ah now I see I am in an hangar, well no big deals I can have the windows closed on chat and things. Well out to mine with my thorax and my 8 harvesters. Noticing I can g really close to asteroids now, more then earlier, cool is 2 metres away and going to send my drones out. Sending out my drones, but what happens now, it goes really slow about 3-5 minutes for 8 drones to go out, starting my mininglasers in the mean time laser 1, 2, 3, 4, ....... To little power for my fifth laser, ah great well no big deal I just go into base and get more cpu upgrades. Another 3-5 minutes to get my drones in and now I start to notice nice lagging in the game to. Well now when I am out again I notice my miningdroneskill work. Great job ccp, have been longing for the skill to work.
In my meaning I cant see big things that is wrong in this patch. Only things strucking me in 5 minutes is:
1. to little cpu for my 5 laser.
2. drones are being polite going out in row causing it to take around 3-5 minutes.
3. lagging really nice.
4. menu windows covering whole monitor. I wonder what I have noticed in like 1 hour.
Ah really sorry I forgot an big thing, the drones is green X now, cool feature, keep up good work, lol?

In galactic map If I choose it to show my corporate members location I see the dots but when I move mouse over the dot I cant see that pop-up window about particular member(s) is in that system. Same applies other galactic map pop-ups too.

The in game lag since the patch makes me think Eve is the second coming of Ultima Online. The new mail system makes my head hurt when trying to figure out the improvement to it. Say hello to our almost forgotten friend....CTD.
The patch was good in theory, bad in implementation. I had more fun reading about it then playing with it.
Oh, and off subject, please put a search option on for these forums. It's really not that hard to do.

Whenever I dock and hit the "items" button or the "ships" button in my neocom, none come up, I cant bring up my ship cargo either.
I have tried using shortcuts and it doesnt work when I'm docked. If I clear my cache and log in everything is fixed until I hit another station.
The temporary fix to my problem is to have my cargo open when I dock at a station, when I do that my ship cargo and my hanger items are displayed, but I cant look at my ships.
Also, I've noticed SEVERE memory leakage. I can play for a long while and everything is alright, then everything starts to seem like there is a lot of network lag (but it isnt, as I am using High speed DSL). I exit by ctrl+alt+delete and notice that my eve client is taking up a whopping 461 megs of memory. Close the client, log back in and everything is fine.
Taken from the May 29th 2003 Devchat at EveGate . <Muaddid> Q: When will sentry gun and station and similar construction pods be introduced on the market? <Hellmar> we have various player owned entities already implemented. Sentry guns, power/shield generators, field repair mini-stations, mobile refineries. We are still working out the last tidbits of how they can be over taken, what is the penalty of having a sentry gun kill a n00b etc. and we have been a bit busy with plugging the holes that people have found.I would say that you'd start to see these items on the market in about 2-3 weeks, very expensive to begin with |

Personally, I just wish to officially request that there be bugfixing patches as soon as possible, and as many as needed untill all the bugs are fixed.
Please, do not do the same thing you did before: delay bug fixes for over a month so you could patch in features and balancing.
Please fix the bugs, we really want them fixed. Most of the bugs are cosmetic, and you normally ignore them, but do you see how extremely detrimental these "cosmetic" bugs have become? Give cosmetics some increased priority.

having read through the pre-patch nerf stuff BEFORE the patch, I somehow missed the fact that 'better' cpu's would somehow magically become WORSE or nearly the same as 'basic' cpu's. paid a frickin' fortune to get better cpu's to run 4 drills and equipment on ship, and now...........example: photonic cpu -7% boost? wtf???
Also, I have been CTD FREE for several weeks....until today. 3 ctd's and one took XP down hard....and nothing changed other than the patch.
The mail reader....I like somewhat...but still needs work. The address book online/offline.....lmao...I'm not holding my breath on that one AT ALL.
So WHO actually tested this stuff before it was implemented? Seems like 4 blind guys and a Quake2 Llama probably. -sigh.
So now with this nerfed up mess, the economic structure fixes and such gets pushed back even further.....what database were you guys using for this again? Oh yeah.....SQL (mickeysoft). -rolls my eyes.

um... ive only been logged in for half an hour or so today, but a couple of quick observations...
- Possible factory slot bug.... went to start a production run on a factory slot. Even though im positive I told it to take minerals from a hangar where there were minerals (confirmed on the summary page before the final "ok") it came back with the message saying I was missing <insert 100% of mineral reqs for my job here>. Ran the same job again and it came up with a different set of missing minerals. Ran it again and it came back with the 16 units of mex I was ACTUALLY missing .
- Mail system: what exactly are the improvements here supposed to be ? I see the graphical changes (which are of dubious value) but did we get a "reply" or "forward" option yet on messages (which would have really been the only changes Id have recommended to the old system).
Did seem to be less laggy in station interface though, even with relatively high number of people logged on, and I was in a noob system that is traditionally very laggy (prepatch) so I guess congrats are in order there.

Take off the sentry guns in .4 and less systems or make the sentry guns jammable/destroyable at a respawn rate of 24 hours.
Not fair that we get the **** end of the game. We pay 12 dollars a month too you know.
Sentry guns need to be mortal like us, not respawn every 2 minutes and have 400 damage with no accuracy fall off. ---

Ok, its not everybody from what I can figure out, but ALOT of players are now limited from playing in windowed mode. I mean overnight it happened with this patch. What ever you did video-wise it ****ed off ALOT of graphics cards out there or something. Alt-enter just flashes the screen and returns to fullscreen. Hitting Esc and unticking Fullscreen kills the gui and leaves an Eve.exe process zombied in the background. PLease put the fullscreen property back in the prefs.ini file so it can be changed manually. PLEASE!!

I never post on forums, but this time I will.
- Eve-mail needs to be converted back to the old interface. Plain and simple.
- Frankly, there was nothing wrong with having a nice green box next to a Corp member's ship in space. Now, you have to question whether or not you're actually seeing green or yellow on the ship icons.
- Money is not shown when your mouse pointer hovers over the Wallet icon.
- Every time a patch comes out, the cache seems to be deleted. We might as well reinstall the game each patch since it doesn't keep any information about our preferences.
- Shortcuts do not always save when closing the options window, or simply logging out of the game.
- Giant Secure Containers still have no icon nor the ability to have a password set on them.
- Drones have been dropping by stacks of 10 instead of 1's. Unless you're fighting in a Hauler, it's difficult to pick up such loot.
- You no longer can bookmark from the assets menu.
- Implants are in the game, but the skills to use them are not in the game.
- Perhaps it was miscommunication, but many people expected new elements to the game to be added, such as blueprints, skills, and equipment.
- Some of us are confused as to why it takes Charisma to anchor something in place. Does it involve negotiating with your cargo container to make it stay still in space, or do you simply have to have a "Magnetic" personality?
- The character sheet interface looks more primitive than it did before.

Problem: 'Audio hardware acceleration not detected' Comment: my audio worked fine before patch. I have the most current drivers for my hardware.
Problem: NPC pirates too difficult now. Comment: locking at 200k + new uber missiles + tac shield nerf = pirates too tough (at least for cruisers). Were the drop tables updated to compensate, or do they still drop the same garbage?
Problem: Can't run 2 instances of EVE on 1 machine. Comment: Is this a "feature"? If so, can I have the $39.95 back that I spend on a 2nd account?
Problem: asteroid spawn/growth not fixed. Comment: shouldn't this be a high priority, as the lack of bist is wrecking the economy?

I think there's a massive memory leak somewhere. I was running eve no problem for many hours before the patch, and now after an hour windows complains of a lack of virtual memory. the whole system is using 1 gig, and the eve process is using 100 meg - 10 minutes after the warnign, the eve process simply dies...
Oh yeah, the new mail is not good, I'd suggest dropping it back to the old version personally, bu ti guess i'll get used to it if i can stay in the game long enough.
Finally, good luck CCP. this is gonna be a hella bug chase. You have my best wishes and my continued subscription.

The patch deleted my prefs.ini file. i have to set my preferences for everything again
I CTD'd and everytime I try to get back in I get the message "proxy not connected". The problem is not at my end, since I obviously can still post here

I've had the deleted preferences, constant crashes (CTD, server node and a strange transport communication problem too), some agent info missing, icons disappearing in cargo containers and cargo hold leaving just black squares with old quantity.
This patch is not of release quality, and it alledged to improve memory problems where actually it is a hell of a lot worse. This needs to be tested on some low end machines, not on the local network for several horus at a time ... and the develorpes would have a whole host of answers that they have missed for patch after patch! Sort it out CCP, you really made people want this patch, despite the nerfs, and what you've delivered has shocked many of us with its immense bug introduction! We joked that that would happen, we hoped it wasn't going to be true. Way to prove the cynics right!

I've got no major problems.
My prefs were reset, only took a few minutes to get everything back the way I like it.
My station view wasn't rotating, that took all of 3 minutes to figure out.
With the news that the bps will be released tomorrow, I have no complaints.
I imagine you are having to do the BP update tomorrow due to the DB problems today. =)

Whats Bad:
1) Sometimes you can not rotate the camera around your ship properly.
2) Clicking on either the info or advanced market buttons in the market do not work.
3) Still getting frequent CTD errors.
Whats Good:
1) The new mail system allthough taking some getting use to is actually more user friendly once you get the hang of it.
2) Being able to flip Corp members alphbetically
3) the new drones and BP's
4) Miner II's and BP's

Bugs:
-CTD'd twice while initiating jumps at star gates. Appears to be an 'Entering Space' error.
-List of my ships in-station opens when docked.
-Mail system tells me I have new mail each time I log on when I do not.
-Forced full-screen.
Good things:
-Sound bug seem to be fixed, no more looping warping sound.
-I notice a lot less lag opening cargo holds and reading local/corp both of which appear to be operating fine.

Update: Please read this post.
You're quite right in reminding us not to flame & troll, however it's questionable how much people can be expected to behave themselves after the frustrations caused by today's patch.
I can't begin to explain the frustration felt in my corp alone because of the problems today.
- mail system is shocking, bring the old one back - mouse over broken - graphics (especially icons) seem to have taken a step backwards not forwards - CTD have increased exponentially - ship icons/symbols incorrectly applied - massive increase in lag
I could go on but those are some of the most frustrating bugs found by our corp today.
I can't help but say it, there was a massive amount of trepidation and expressions of dismay over so much change being implemented at once, yet CCP still went ahead with the uber patch. There is little wonder it has been an unmitigated disaster.
Take it easy guys and please please please in future give us little and often, not lots in one go.
Hopefully that was gentle enough feedback.

I donÆt know how much more I can add that hasnÆt already been pointed out. My general complaint is plain and simple: poor. Playability, patch quality, implementation... all poor.
Certain aspects that really didnÆt need fixing (mail) got totally reworked and made worse. Things that badly needed fixing were either ignored or made worse. I will likely continue playing Eve, but I am terribly disappointed. Whereby before I would stick with Eve regardless of what hapenned, now I will stick with Eve only until I find something better. If patches like this are what we can expect, ôbetterö won't be very hard to find. Bummer, it really is.

I have been playing MMOs for several years now and seen 30 or more patches in my day. CCP I can tell you quite plainly, the UI content in this one was NOT ready for release. Frankly I was amazed that you would release something with this many immediately obvious bugs. You need to rollback the UI. Never mind trying to hotfix the bugs, there are simply too many and they are too disrupting to game play. Just rollback, properly fix the new UI, and re-release it again a couple patches down the road.

- tachyon laser (and with shield hardner nerf + stacking nerf these things will rip BS's with not many med-slots to bits - already seen 1000+ wrecking)
- rubbish inbox - rubbish chat - rubbish new attribute layout - rubbish character sheet layout
- online/offline status of buddies still bugged
- weapons sometimes do not deactivate
- drones seem less responsive (maybe just me?)
- promised BP's not for sale
- medium hull repair still only does 50hp repair compaired to 240hp from armour repairs
- tracking disrupter graphics still bugged
- tracking disrupter graphics still don't turn off when the module is turned off either
- prefrences not saved/remembered (except colours)
- and prolly more to come...

- Hangers and other tabs often having to be opened / refreshed repeatedly because they show empty. This happens on all windows, also chat windows.
- Offices at stations not spaced properly - all the text gets cut off - unreadable.
- Recycling tab - icons for "refine" way too big, overlap with number of items, so you can't read how much ore you have as the icon overlaps the number.
- Wasn't there supposed to be an in-context right-click for refining????
- Green corp boxes way too dull to see, need to be much brighter etc.
- Members hangers not openable
- Corp members not alphabetical
- WTF mouse-over all dead, dead, dead.

I second that!
And also..
The game flow seems a bit smoother, so the opening of the local, corp, (you name it) windows, but the Texel bar is gone and before patch my fonts were ok and now they screwed again like I tweaked my gfx card. Mostly the Texel bar helped to correct the fonts for my ATI 9700 Pro with all settings to full detail..which btw make ATI cards run games smoother (than the expected opposite result of slowing down), especially if you donate all the 256k system memory to the said gfx card, which is weird.. but hey!

I wasnt in space long enough to see all of these things. But I agree with Elfman, the Mailbox scared me and was much more civilized before. And while I am a variable noob, having only installed the game last week. I was in beta, and my fond memories from beta, and the fact that I found the box for 12 bucks, drew me back. And for the last week much that I recalled from beta returned... I will go pudder around more, before casting final judgement...

Why bother with UI changes? UI was FINE. Fix the bugs not the stuff that works!
- rollback to the old gui. - box besides corpmates ship in space was fine. - mailbox was fine.
- prefs not saving sucks. - when switching to and from fullscreen mode, I lost the main chat window (local). - CTD unprovoked 3 times today, that never happened before (I was just idling in space, alone in sys)
Again: EVE is full of bugs! Changing the code you are confident about will not do! Roll up the sleeves and fix the bugs. --

- I can't see the difference between player ships anymore. BS or Frigate? None knows.
- Market window is ****** up and get blank sometimes, you can't scroll sometimes, or can't buy stuff at the bottom, cause you can't see the buy button.
- Chat is messed up, same symptoms as market windows.
- Weapons stop sometimes.
- Settings don't save correctly.
- Login window don't get affected by colour changes.

Before the patch the game ran fine. But now:
1. I have choppy framerates as well as longer "load" times when warping to gates, stations, belts, ect. (This is not the same as the chat lag... which has gotten worse)
2. When I pan my camera up or down I am getting these horizontal lines that seem to blink in and distort the background in space. Doesn't matter how fast or slow I pan I always get them. It doesn't do it when panning from left to right. It is nasty as hell and makes the back ground look like it is broken up into strips and not aligned with eachother properly.
Any suggestions?

Very disappointing :(
Almost 5 weeks since the last patch and I'm not convinced that anything has improved much.
If it's going to take another 5 weeks to fix this patch, well, I guess someone will be asking for my stuff.
Good to see that CCP have an abundance of resources working to fix things like the mail system that everyone was complaining about, and the amount of whines about the green box next to corpmates must have been just too much to bear.
Is tech 2 becoming "vapourware"? Ah! no, it was more important to re-balance the weapons so that everyone and their uncle with a battleship will use tachyon beams.
I think it might be an idea to make a list of everything in the game that people are happy with, then CCP will know exactly which items to fix for the next patch. Maybe we could get the colours of the roids changed...omber could be blue to show that it has isogen in it, etc. Haven't heard anyone complaining about the roid colours, so must be due for a change.
Please excuse my frustration, been playing since May 6th.

I can't log in at all after the patch - just get a blank screen when it should go to character select.
BTW for those of you who don't know anything about software developement and are whining that they are upgrading the UI while more fundamental bugs/problems remain, this is because it's different programmers that do these tasks, ie junior and senior respectively. So one doesn't necessarily detract from the other. ____________________________________

It would appear that 100% of all comments are in agreement that the rules and settings of the game shouldn't be changed or altered during gameplay, that is, as long as Eve is running.
These changes are beyond nerfs, they are in fact, complete alterations.
One of the things I look for in a fun and enjoyable online game is some stability. I'd like to play a game that has the same rules of play from when I first learned them, until now, and on into the far future.
With that in mind, I would like to suggest that CCP stop all changing and alterations now. Fix the bugs that are in fact, bugs, and reverse the nerfs.

Framerate and connection are fine for me, but I have to agree with the comments about UI changes. It was fine before and surely there are more important things to be dealing with? Loss of mouseovers (tooltips) is very irritating. Changing the icons for 'permanent' containers i.e. drifting casks and flotsam is great. Having the same icons for the sentry guns is not so great. Why on earth were they changed? The old sentry gun icons were fine. I'm also finding a suspiciously high percentage of 'permanent' containers are empty. Out of around 25 I opened, all were empty.. What's going on?

Well, I'll first say that the graphic seems to have improved alot, crystal clear and great. However. 1. When I buy an item from the market the entire list of items disappears after its been loaded. 2. Lag when loading new enviroment, either station or system. 3. The skill in caractersheet seems to be in no certain order, only the catagories. 4. Local chat is very laggy and doesnt show right until to late (blockade) 5. (Not a new bug) When moving your mouse pointer over a starsystem in the map it doesnt show the system name, instead you have to right click to see it.

1) My Security rating was reset to 0.0
2) Sometimes I can open my Ship Cargo or Items list, most often I click them and nothing happens.
3) Glorified CTD's
4) Lag, lag, lag, lag,lag.....
and on a final note although I can literally see the improvements to the graphics I have to say, the change to some parts of the UI are butt-ugly to be honest....
Why did CCP change a thing that was working rather well and in light of the problems that plague this game has to be considered a low priority?!?!?!?
Was the idea maybe to give a visual change so ppl would be calm and have a sense that of the game changing before their eyes???
If so you flopped miserably, I HATE parts of the new UI eg. the Character sheet and the Mail.

The mail system is terrible... What was wrong with it before to warrant a change? And why waste time on the mail system ?
I have had a visual basic CTD ... never had that before...
Icons are weird some look better, but most of them are fuzzy.
Pirate hunting is not as fun anymore, those damn missles hurt but the spawns are lacking it seems... I really don't like mining and flying around in an indy to trade with nerfed AB's does not sound like fun either.

Don't know if this has been posted yet, no time to read the new replies
Mousing over a result in the survery scanner display points your camera at that particular roid. Now, however, after you take the mouse off the Scanner entry, your cam dosent jump back to the ship. Moving the camera around causes it to go berserk, like it's picking some random point in space to center on.
Mousing over something else, like a drone entry in my drone window, fixes it. But it's freaky =)

Jettisoned Containers (Sharing Cans)
Tried sharing a can between 2 ships while mining and it works really well, thanks :)
1 minor bug still exists: Ship A owns the can and is mining continually. Ship B grabs ore leaving 1-unit in the can. Ship B warps away to unload ore (Note: no docking/un-docking) Ship B returns to the can and opens it. The can shows the previous ore value, i.e. 1 ore unit. *the bug* After Ship B removes the 1 ore unit the can now displays correctly.

Actually, after using the new EveMail system for a bit, it's not THAT bad. It's actually more functional than the old system, it's just not very intuitive. And it doesn't help that the patch reset ALL your emails to 'unread' status, which is probably causing more headaches than the UI itself.
Good idea, just not a great implementation. Hopefully they can find something with the functionality of the new UI with the easy use of the old.

few more things; maybe some were mentioned before -- confirming they are happening to me too: 1) sometimes weapons cannot be turned off once activated, seems random occurances. eg. turn railgun on to fire a few shots, then cannot stop it, it must fire all the ammo out of it (like 50 rounds fired uselessly) before it stops (is colored red the entire time as if it is trying to stop). 2) corp hangers sometimes display empty, while the other hangers are displayed properly (eg. hangers 1-4 6-7 show ok, but 5 is empty. then after opening and closing hanger 5 a few times suddenly it shows the items in it). attempting to drag an item into the blank hanger also makes the item disappear until the hanger wakes up. 3) character sheet always closes it's skill menus after exit, it used to remember which ones you kept open last, so i could conveniently glance at the cs to see progress/skeep skill training organised etc.

other then the usual couple of bugs the only thing that really bothered me was lag (which was fixed through reset) and this newly presented mem leak (much worse then the normal one) That would be the cause of your CTD by the way when you got like 512MB mem with 20MB system and 492MB to EVE bad things happen :P (coarse those who have properly set managers have no worries )
As for people whining about the Mail system it's got it's ups and downs. I really don't care eigther way.
only thing that really still erks me is roids apparently suck still. I would like to be able to take the guys back out mining the good stuff, but with micro-roids they can get much more from mining stuff like Scor all day. (then newbs look around and go... "umm and we mine what now?")
Also I would like to point out usualy CCP fixes most bugs within a week of the patches (CTD is expetion as well as roids) so just let em know whats wrong and give it a few. programming ain't exactly a fast paced thing.

Had a whinge before then played some more and discovered a couple of things...
1) The new mail system isn't all that bad (there's as positive as it gets). 2) can't see the contents of my corp mate's hangars despite Director status. 3) Had the worst CTD I've experienced whilst playing the game, got a horrible C++ runtime error and then couldn't get back in game due to black screen of death
Oh and appart from the mail that i am coming around to slowly, the rest of the UI is awful.
Thos new icons/outline's/indicators near corpmates ships look cartoony, out of style and well just downright awful!
I said it before and i think it was QBall who said it again..... little patches more often please, no more of these large patch horror stories.
Waiting patiently for crisis management and quick resolution (patience is worn to a very thin thread at the moment following this debacle though).
Oh and for the record I am one of those who tested in Chaos, although not extensively, and this patch bears little resemblance to the state of Chaos last time I logged in there.
Learn the lessons and move on guys, you have a great game and just uber f***** it, please don't do it again!

Photonic CPU (1.2mil isk) has been reduced to nothing more then a basic co-pro.
Please god for all that is right in the world return this to the way it was.
It still baffles me why a cargo ship has 900 cpu and a battleship has only 600.

1 Mouse-overs dont work in the map. 2 The mail box doesnt show who send you an email, unless you click someone's name. 3 Shield hardeners got a double nerf, i adviced allready what should be done... But Tomb is ignoring me. 4 Alot of server nodes going down like happend 2 patches ago 5 Members of mine had their screen "shake" "go white" and more crap that caused severe losses of ships, we have damage for 100 mil atm. Are we getting this back? 6 I keep getting messages that the visual memory is full, this message didnt appear any time before. 7 CPU load is increased ALOT, from the 60-80% i had before. The pc now is running at 100cpu all times. 8 Why put in modules like implants when there are no skills available? 9 The lag is massive sometimes 10 Local is bugged

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but any item list windows with a scroll bar won't refresh untill the scroll bar is moved. Example: Bills, after you pay a bill the rest won't refresh till you slide the bar. Chat windows, the channel members area won't refresh if there is a scroll bar present. Scroll bar must be moved to refresh the current listing. ------------------

- OMG SORTING:
Ok come on now CCP, can you at least get a simple sorting algorithm right? If you goto corp tab and members, and you sort by name it doesnt even sort right, not to mention the sorting of bookmarks and all that uggggggg. If i give you a cookie will you not make these mistakes? K? THX
- Prefs.ini:
Come on now such a major change to way user settings are stored they could at least made sure such a critical componet was working correctly b4 it was implmented like this. As far as i can tell this seems nothing more like a way to make pref.ini look clean, but all the data is now stored in a folder called settings in binary format. Is this just so programs like EveDude wont be fucntional anymore? or is it part of some other plan for the future direction the code base is going in that really requried this kind of change? How exactly does it make the game better??? I see no visual or prefomance changes because of this. If this is some kind of improment could you at least document it better. Rather then saying it'll be "better" this way.
IMHO the prefs.ini file should have stayed they was it was, at least for the time being. So the focus could be towards FIXING what is CURRENTLY WRONG like AUTO PILOT, and BALANCING ships rather then somehting this pointless. At least thats how I see it right now?

New patch = bad news at least at the moment
1. Numerous CTDs 2. New mail system - ughh...why was it changed? 3. Mouse over doesnt work 4. Some major lag 5. Secure containers - not so secure - logged on after patch to discover my secure containers had all been swiped by someone..LOL..if I find out who that was... 6. Umpteen sentry guns everywhere - PVP is difficult enough why this overkill with the sentry guns? I'm not a big pirate fan but even I feel a little bit of sympathy about this move.
I don't mind patches if they resolve existing bugs etc but some of the changes in this patch have altered things that worked perfectly well and are now knacked.
I agree with an earlier poster - smaller, helpful patches in the future rather than large..buggy ones please!

I am quite sure that MMORPG games are actually not games but a fiendishly designed plot by the CIA to test us! A bit like the SAS endurance test where just when you thinks its over you have to turn around and go all the way back up the mountain :(
I work in real life as a QA in telecoms (yes a test analyst) I know all about bugs believe me :) I dream about bugs and how im gonna find em. I wonder what the QA guys are doing over at CCP? How can they miss these bugs during the test phase? How can they sign off the release in confidence and say yep we tested it these are the defects we found but its ready for release.
These are not hardware specific bugs as they are affecting all in game! This means anyone with any type of PC should have seen them when testing it during test phase?
My conclusion is that CCP cannot have a QA team. they must be one of these organisations that mistakenly thought the developers could produce code thats bug free ROFL LOL Im wetting my pants!! Yes lets save money by NOT testing type of project managers!! Man I could shoot them :)
DR Boris Beizer who is probably the worlds leading tester and software developer to. Designs critical software for military and also NASA states in his book "black box testing" That even he inserts on average 4 to 15 defects in code per 100 lines (he is a code GOD) I wonder how many errors the devs at CCP insert in their code per 100 lines LOL.
Guys get a decent test department please?? If you need help I know some contractors that will help you out in this area. **** I would help you. Oh yes and lose the BAŠs and SA's and the bull**** PM's as all they do is run around writing shelfware documents that no-one EVER reads and not fixing anything!!!!!
Was that a rant?

It's Official.
The Zezman Maneuver is now no longer in the game. Leaving one npc pirate alive no longer prompts further spawning of npc pirates.
Thanks CCP, I really appreciate having another fun challenging part of earning money in a risky endeavor removed. We didn't really need all those pirate loot items after all.
I am now looking for another online game. Any suggestions? I will not tolerate any further nerfs.

I have to say that despite the numerous bugs, glitches, and nerfs, agents have gotten a very nice boost. I just did an agent mission which rewarded me with a low slot module that increases all armor resistances by 15% each, 20k isk, and a .5 increase in my sec status

You have to pick an item twice to repackage it. The first time it doesn't appear on the list so you can not rightclick on it to repair it. But if you just pick item twice it will show up on the list.
You have to rightclick the drones now to repair them.. Before, the repackage button would say repair all if the drones were damaged. Now you have to right click and repair the drones first. Biggest problem with this, 100 players a day in the Help channel asking how to repair drones again.
5 R&D Agents, 10months, Zero BPO Offers.. Onboard navigational [Planetary Avoidance] computer.

Well, aside from most of the above...
BAD STUFF: * I always attach my 'drone bay window' to the top of my chat window. When I do that now, after closing it will not open anymore until I relog, then it's open once * in the drone window (after launching), some how the ctrl-select changed, at least for me, to shift-select * would not let me type more then one sentence per 30 sec. in Corp chat *honk* noise (lag?), no problems in other chats * drones still won't attack over 20km * did in-space icons get bigger, changed, what? somehow there seems to be a lot more of them
GOOD STUFF * Mining Drone skills works! Finally! * I like the new graphics on the gear we have * Drones packed quite a punch when I tested them
Just because we are paranoid, doesn't mean you're not out to get us. |

It's been said before, and even in this post, which nobody other than about 3 posters appears to have read.
The guy who does the interface changes is *not* the same guys that does the weapons balancing, who is *not* the same guy that does the loot tables, who is *not* the same guy that does the network code, who is... etc.
Other than a few CTD's, I haven't had too many problems.
Also, a lot of the people posting here need to learn how to put in a useful complaint.
Comments like 'mail window sucks' aren't very helpful to anyone. Try adding *why* it sucks, then maybe they can improve it. Or if you're just scared of change say something like 'hey! I'm scared of change, and the mail window changed. This gives me the fear. Maybe it would be better if you...<suggestion>'
Personally, I hated the old mail interface with a passion. But it worked. So I had no complaints, really.
The only things that I have issues with in this patch are the scrolling bug (well known), the avatars in the chat/mail windows being too big (an option to turn them off altogether would be nice, or maybe just to shrink them), and I had a wierd problem in an asteroid belt..
I was testing the new pirates abilities, by doing the exact same thing I did before the patch, ie. full rack of neut blasters, 2 gauss mods and two tracking comps, and 'other' items. I then drift to the belt 'marker' and invite the pirates over. This was going okay, and I took out a spawn of two. As I was collecting their guts, I noticed a group of 5 more rats. The only trouble being that they had spawned 65km away from belt-centre. I et up to approach them, and realised they were going in the opposite direction.
I have no idea why they would do this, but it might be worth looking at.
Other than that I found Eve to run smoother than before last night (although this might be due to my foreshortened prefs.ini)
Oh, and the 'not saving prefs' can be a bit of a pain, although not earth shattering.
If I think of any more, I'll add them. .

yeah, but for starters, cars don't cost $40 new, and generally cost more that 13$ a month to run.
Not to mention cars are rather simple. 90% of it is bolts and metal.
a bit of a poor comparison.
as for losing your zezzing exploit, you *had* to see that coming, surely.*
Personally, I never used it, I just let the last one attack me until he calls for backup, etc.
*yes, it is an exploit. They are not supposed to sit 10km away and watch you kill their mates. maybe not a 'bad' exploit, but an exploit all the same. But to say you can now no longer farm pirates is ridiculous. You can, and it's still fairly easy.
And I say to you, and many, many others, there's no need to swear. If you think it makes your point look more important, it doesn't. If you think they pay more attention to you because of foul language, they won't.
people, post calmy, and avoid lies/exaggeration/ranting/whining
And maybe read the patch notes, as a lot of the issues raised here are actually mentioned in the patch log. (CPU reduction, etc.) .

But How can they ever released this patch with so many problemes its like EA with there C&C Generals game... I can imagine a patch that downloads a virus to everyone in your address book, format's your c drive, overclocks the fsb in your bios causing your processor to overclock and start a fire. Your house then burns down, taking with it the insurance documents and killing all of your family members.
If you look at it in this light, you will see that this has been a very succesful patch indeed

Cons:
- Slow redraw or refreshing on almost any window in station. Before it was way smoother. - Market not displaying items in the generalized window. Icon of Show info e market stats not working sometimes. - Pref not saving. - Friend (corp) brackets useless now. It was waaay better before - Local and corp chat bugged (wrong updates) - Windowed mode SERIOUSLY messed up. Exiting the game to fiddle with options while in windowed mode cause game to crash. Playing the game with antialiasing set to quinqunx in windowed mode may cause the game to badly flicker or to stutter. Antialiasing seem to casue problems also in non-windowed mode.
Pros:
- Seems a less laggy now, more fluid gameplay (when it works) - LOVE the new accelerationa and decelleration times.:) - Love the new missiles (speed, req to build, stack size) - Love my new Hybrid.:) - Love new entering-warp times - Love new "orbit at" distances - Love the new "static" ship in station... the old one was giving me nausea after a while.:)
Mixed feelings really... try to fix the nasty bugs arised with this new patch and we're all happy campers then.:)

Edited by: Intruders on 18/09/2003 11:33:17 HELP!!
memory behaviour: There is a huge memory leak after 10 minutes of being in space, its tottaly unplayable, not to mention the CTD's again.
Damage and refire rates: seem to act on their own, sometimes modules stack, sometimes they do not, sometimes it seems weapons do any damage they like by default, sometimes they do none.
Texel alligment: is tottaly screwed up, im an ATI user and no option from the default ATI UI settings helped to fix the garbled fonts and the game seems like the pixel overlay is broken, it is like blurred.
edit:
EVE-Mail: Forgot to mention about the mail client, is screwed, I see mails arriving but they re nowhere to find them, I could be able to find them before the immediate server down yesterday night, now I only get a character list of some people I used to have to my buddy list and were deleted and some that I indeed have them in my list.
Modules: The characterisation of modules is not working when I hover the cursors over them anymore, the icons of the modules in my hangar or cargo bay seem "heavier" now, takes more time to load and seem to consume more memory than before to load in my gfx card.
Map: No characterization of any kind above star systems anymore where I used to hover the cursor and get the details, rendering the map unusable.
Ore: bug is still here. Tinny roids
Targeting modules: They still bugged they wont update/reflect their status on my weapons unless I kill some NPC's first. Before patch used to be that I had to shoot a few times and the stats were kind of properly updated.
Behaviour from Incoming damage: Missiles splash damage push is screwed, it seems they push my ship more and sometimes less by same type of NPC missiles, a disturbing effect then appears, the ship idol seems to be replicated by double and causes frame rate drops, after this and after its fixed by itself the frame rates drop and stay this way untill I relog back. Kind of it seems an extra added vissual effect on this patch was screwed.

A product that is constantly being changed and adjusted is never "finished." If you want to play a finished product, don't play online games.

Because in the end, despite all the whiners who insist otherwise, it's worth the wait for a fun and interesting game.

If you had even the slightest glimmer of an idea what it takes to design, implement and maintain an application on the scale of EVE - let alone making continual updates to it while trying to fix existing problems - you would not be on these forums *****ing about CCP.
If you don't want to deal with bugs and problems, and the occasional mishap such as this patch, then I recommend trying a genre outside online gaming. Perhaps 'Scrabble' will be less likely to disappoint you.

From my PoV as cruiser/indy flying pre-BS player...
Good: mining drone bonus fixed; naming and labelling of containers; passwords on huge and giant containers fixed.
Bad: frequent CTD, especially on market screen; anchoring introduced without proper explanation or warning (still waiting for results of petition on two lost giant cans that I hadn't been told were now temporary - or which I didn't know I wouldn't be able to scoop without anchoring skill until I tried and failed!); eve-mail keeps flashing it has new messages when it doesn't, and I'm wary about sending messages since as far as I can tell it doesn't say who they're going to; no notice or explanation offered for secure cans no longer working inside ships.
Neutral: haven't noticed any particular change in lag. No comment on game balancing as not enough experience.
Final word: however cool it may be, please don't add stuff at the last minute if it means it won't be documented properly in the notes or indeed in-game documentation.

Edited by: velox on 18/09/2003 11:50:21 I tend to agree with a lot of the comments before, but thought I would add my 2 cents.
Its very easy when involved in a large development to loose sight of the goals. What you want are for us to enjoy EVE (which most of us do most of the time) and continue paying the subs.
In return for that co-operation from us what we want is a balanced enjoyable game where we only have to worry about in game scenarios, and not what you are going to do to remove gameplay in the future.
Point 1. I am in a small non pirate corp but I have to agree with a lot of other people and say you are making the game too one sided. Low sector space is meant to be dangerous but if there are sentry's everywhere and gate and docking locks when you initiate combat then the shader sides of roleplay are being excludeed. to the point where is your on your own in an average frigate navigating 1.0 - 0.1 is fine.
The NPC Systems should have to live by the same rules as us or are you going to allow us to purchase sentry guns that never miss and respawn automatically when they are destroyed.
You could introduce rules where if sentry guns are destroyed a concord deployment ship has to arrive and redeploy them. you must do something to re-address this issue.
Point 2. added extras. There was nothing really wrong with the old mail system except the fact that the message appeared in a tiny window at the bottom. The new system is on its way to being better but you are ignoring simple rules that you have already used elsewhere.
Q. Why could it have not been done around a chat window so that you could change the size of the icons or remove them to names only.
Q. Why does the system tell me i have new messages when i log on and then there are none.
these are only small things but you should be thinking of them and not relying on our gripes and then your patches to rectify these things.
Point 3. Patches Why is it necessary to leave it so long between patches. You must learn that Less is MORE.
I would much rather have a patch every day that was small and fixed key issues than one big one every few weeks that is full of issues like this one.
Lastly, you have within your control the ability to get it things right more times than you get things wrong so please feel free to exercise that right.

****, they fixed that? Can we get some confirmation? I didn't switch any skills last night.
That sucks though, really sucks.. before, you could be training a multi-day skill, and turn your training to a 10 min skill when you were online. Train up some skills that would finish before you planned to logoff, then set the long one back to training when you are offline.. now, bleh.. =

1. After you use a survey scanner, and mouse over the rock, the camera doesnt return centered around the ship. Eventually it does, but Ive had to just screw with all the zooming and twisting and all this nonsense to get it back right.
2. The Avatars in the chat are too big, they seem to be (to me at least, maybe Im imaginging things) about 1.5 times bigger, and that IMO is no good.
3. The text in the Skill tree is too small, and now you have to actually click show info on the skills instead of just clicking on it.
4. The area for the text in "Members Hangers" as well as "Members" in the corp buttons is too big.
5. The "memebers" arent alphabetized.
6. There seems to be only 2 viable window configs. Ex: My ships and items are merged to the station panel. I have my cargo merged into my chat, and the can I am mining right on top of that. And when I was in station, my corp hanger was located and sized as if it was a station function (as big and located as say the fittings tab). Now, the can I am mining to seems to want to over ride my setting for where my corp hanger is placed. HUGE pain in the ass, as it really small right on top of my chat, since I keep everything as small as possible except the corp hanger.
My biggest comlaint though is the text on the skill tree and the text for members. Its too small on the skills (as well as my avatar not being centered) and too big on the members area. All in all I think the UI should go back to looking and functioning like it did prepatch.
Yes small complaints I know, but, I havent used the market in a good while now, so havent checked that out or many other areas other than mining I hate mining but thats a whole other complaint
Good points, I kind of like the way the corp mates look, but maybe a different color like bright yellow or a royal blue (dont think anyting is blue in eve yet), maybe customizable color as I am color blind and cant see that one color very well, unless its just a plain ugly bland crappy ass color

I love to see people get upset when CCP fixes bugs they were taking advantage of.
The whole point to the EVE skill system is a balance between specialization and diverisification. Choosing to train a very long skill SHOULD prevent you from advancing in other areas. This is the sacrifice you make for specializing in a specific area.
If this is fixed, it's good. If it hasn't it should be.

1. guns keep jamming- cant activate/reload (wont click) takes redocking to sort them.
2. Seems laggier.
3. ship doesnt spin (i dont care really)
4. every time i log i get mysterious text from a factory demanding rent money.
5.i ctd much more- i never had a problem b4 but crashed twice in one night - one time ending up in a belt by pirates when i crashed by a station.
pros
1. i like new ship symbols and corp cargo cans.
2. loot seems marginally better.
3. weapons smartbombs much improved.
4. drones easier to manage.
5. it seems pirates are properly affected by jamming now.
overall
i quite like it

How about this one:
Pre patch unpackaged Nanomechanical CPU enhacers now give +6.6%tf, but pre patch packaged Nanomechanical CPU enhancers now give +7.7%. I tried installing them in a ship and they give different results (I have tripple checked the names and stats). Thus I now have 2 Nanomechanical CPU enhancers one giving +6.6% and the other +7.7%

There were only 3 reasons to go into 0.0 space
Bistot NPC pirates Killing people
Bistot roids are suffering like every other roid.
NPC pirates are insane. They've been beefed up but their boost has been neglible due to the fact they often appear in single units. It takes me longer to warp between asteroid belts than it does to kill the single pirate. I'm returning to Empire Space to exploit the stack-of-10 drones drops in a Badger mk 2 rather than ****-into-the-wind in Stain.
Killing people will revolve around the tactic of "I have more tachyons equipped at jump-in points than you".
This patch has been an unmitigated disaster.

Problems
Gun problems - keep locking and have to dock and re-enter space to sort it out.
Map functions are hosed - lots of stuff you can't look at any more (like colouring stars by security rating etc)
Lots of CTD's although some were when the server nodes were going down.
Memory leakage - had to ctrl alt del to close down after CTD a few times.
Corp Director can't see anything in my hangar or put anything in.
Problems opening npc rat cargo cans/own cargo hold.
Positive My hybrids have better range/damage
That's about it - To be honest I got frustrated trying to play and went to bed.
Why is it that when someone tells you that there are over a billion stars in the universe, you believe them, but if they tell you there is wet paint somewhere, you have to touch it to make sure? |

Plus, instant buy/sell is more often going to an order, rather than instant. This did happen before, but infrequently.
The graphics are even better than they were before, but (and I don't mean this unkindly) I don't think gamers give a toss about the graphics, unless and until all the other stuff is sorted. Roll back.

Edited by: Heff on 18/09/2003 19:26:05 I posted this same message ont eh patch review forum but I don't know which thread the des will look at. So, forgive me for the double post and forgive me if IÆve posted something that has been previously posted, but I donÆt have the energy to read through them all (there really are so many issues and itÆs really not my job). Anyway:
If opponents both use energy destabilizers, they both CTD
Mailbox GUI is poor and it always tells me I have new messages when I donÆt.
Mouse doesnÆt highlight ship modules and tell you what they are.
Tachyons hit harder than ever.
Prefs donÆt save correctly.
Local channel doesnÆt update, doesnÆt correctly count members.
Ship doesnÆt spin in station (no big deal though).
Pea-sized roids everywhere.
Proj weaps had a boost to damage but a nerf on ROF; they are worse than ever.
In the character sheet, the skill list is ordered strangely. Sub-headings donÆt stay open. Why did you even change this?
Why arenÆt most lists (mail, corp members, lab BP views, etc) sorted alphabetically?
Sometimes guns donÆt turn off.
Sometimes guns wonÆt reload when empty.
Every time I dock with station, my ship hangar window opens (IÆve repeatedly closed it).
Sometimes corp hangars appear empty when they are full of equipment.
When looking at the required skills for another skill or module, you canÆt make out the red/green bubbles anymore (not a big deal).
When shield hardeners are running, it is nearly impossible to æget infoÆ on your ship. The cursor doesnÆt recognize your ship behind the white shimmering bubble.
I keep getting the same dialog boxes even when I click "don't ask me again". Yes, I want to quit the game... I VERY MUCH WANT TO QUIT THE DAMNED GAME!
ItÆs just disappointing to see that so much energy was used to ôfixö things that didnÆt need fixing while the major issues are still untouched. Who is prioritizing this stuff? And who is checking their work?

People shouldent haft to get the uber setups to stay at thair current leval of play because of CCP. I expect change but not Nerf in Space. Narcycis, Dark Empire, FA |

The terms and conditions of the agreement between us the consumer and CCP the provider are that we subscribe to a service which CCP must provide. Node crashes have stopped me playing for the last two nights, what sort of remuneration do CCP intend to provide if this continues? If i go without phone or power i can negotiate a refund from the providers why should CCP be any different? You cannot take money with out delivering your responsibility of service.
I would step carefully with future patches as you have not tested for errors (such as nodes), was a plan in place with proper, qualified test results or are we talking some server on a bedroom floor? (i fear the latter due to the complete 'finger in the air' to judge the server down time)
Most concerned with the complete lack of proffesionalism shown with this, I work as an IT Consultant for the major blue chip companys and this is an obvious lack of planning shown et al.

Some positive comments:
- Heavy Drone BPs. Nice to see these and some of the other BPs like Large SB and siege launcher.
- Ctrl-F9. Nice to be able to make clean screenshots. Very cool!
- Orbit options are much more useful.
- Gang skills. One of our corpmates is very happy now that her speed/shield bonuses work.
- Insurance duration. Saves everbody money.

A boring one to add to the long list, when transfering ore from a jettisoned container to a secured one in your ship you can not see it or does it show up but it's there. When you get back to a station it appears in the secure container One door away from Hell |

- Still have local and corp chat bugs. As soon as somebody leaves or joins the chats icons disappear, leaving the chat as if nobody was there. Resizing or scrolling the chat restores the status.
- Map doesn't display basic data (view by number of pilots doesn't diplays the, ermm... number of pilots)
- Bookmark window messed up, doesn't retain the setting you give it.
- Large Neutron blasters are badly messed up. You can hit NOTHING with these weapons. Xcpet if it stands still in front of you at no more than 2km. Something with the tracking speed of this weapons is wrong.
- The Blackbird is a F-15 striker fighter airplane now. This cruiser is waaaay more nibmle that ANY frigade... i think something got horribily wrong with this cruiser. Accelerating, with one MWD, from 0 to 2000 ms in 5 seconds...alting is the same.
This patch has some serious issues, and echoes frightening moments of old beta patches...

more bugs: - assets list no longer keeps tabs open after closing its window- very difficult to keep track of assets when u have 100's of locations in there without being allowed to keep the important ones open. - to make things even wierder- sometimes assets list opens up it's own tabs seemingly randomly after u close the window with some tabs open. -skill window tabs are similarly bugged- they do not stay open, or randomly open. - research lab no longer reports what type of research is being done- there is no way to tell what is going on in each slot, you just see the completion time. - opening a can from inside cargo bay while in space, often shows empty even though there are items in it. refreshing the window does not help. adding more items to the 'empty' can results in the items disappearing until you reach a station. - too easy to accidentally cancel out a long skillup with the next one by clicking once in the warning window (the one with the warning 'you are still skilling up <blank>...bla bla' i accidentally clicked on the wrong button which cancelled my previous skillup when i just wanted to close the window. an 'are you sure?' check would be good here before you cancel a week of waiting;) - hangers not showing what is in them, need to be refresshed a few times before they wake up. -map almost useless since you can't get #data/stats off it anymore (like #pilots in space etc.), just generalized colors. -chat window much worse than before- much more buggy not showing people in system, sometimes my chat window just goes blank, not even my char is present. - in general too buggy to fight npc's (without crashing somewhere in the middle of battle and losing your ship).
cons: - was nice to have the graphical progress bar in the ui for researching and manufacturing progress, it has been removed. also was easier to read with lines dividing the different categories, now it is harder to see how the stats line up.
pros: -yes new orbit distances are great

Edited by: Grankor on 19/09/2003 08:33:21 Too many pointless replies......How about posting something consructive? Bugs I noticed: When in space, using ship functions, they dont always turn on/off, and dont always work. I.E. Shield boosters, missle launchers. Autorepeat things were turning off on me. An example of another problem I had, in my MOA (6,4,4 slots) I turned highslots on, switched to mid slots, turned some of them on, then When I switched back to highslots, the only slots I could use were the 4 slots that were availble in the mid.
Serious rubberband, several times after warping, manuvering.
Menus not appearing until the scanner on the right was drug down.
global assests not appearing.
*not a bug, but something I didnt like. The new message system. The email blinks saying that you got a message, and when you clickon it, it no longer tells you what was new. I liked the old evemail system WAY better.
Huge and Giant SECURE cans still cant be passworded.
Autopilot is turning itself off a LOT more.
After a while of being online, when selecting info on a character or item, the space where the sec rating and name is blank. *fixed after relog.
Chat window showing people chatting tends to go blank.
All I can think of right now. I play too much, so, I see a lot. :P

It seems to me that there are 2 source code streams here, kinda like I used to have to deal with at an old company I worked for.
Basically, Source Code A is the one thats "out there" and gets the patches to make the game work from day to day.
Source Code B is the current "in dev" one, the one that may be active on the chaos server.
In theory any patches made to A should also, immediately, be applied to B. This often doesnt happen and devs tend to avoid putting the "work around" in and would rather code things "properly". However, this is then not really tested as much as the "work around" in the live version is.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, if you suddenly see the re-emergence of a swathe of bugs that were "fixed" in the previous "large update" it invariably points to the fact that there are, in fact, 2 versions of Eve and the devs are a tad lapse in maintaining proper source code control across the two.
So, I think you will find that *alot* of these bugs are simple old ones re-emerging and that a major update will fix this.
My theory is that the previous source code (pre patch) is now frantically being updated with all the chaos stuff and will then be re-applied back into the live version.
Of course, I am probably totally wrong about this :)
Oh, fix that annoying auto-target-camera view thing where your view gets "fixed" on your target and you cant get it back to your ship. Might only be in the Scanner window.

I don't know what to say really without sounding to dissapointed.
But this is embaressing, unprofessional and unacceptable.
Game worked fine untill wednesday patch, then it got really bad, ontop of that the so called "Hotfix" made it even worse. This new black hole of a memory eater is insane, where did that one come from? For some unknown reason the game now just loads and loads and loads stuff I don't know what... but a few minutes in the game, a jump or 2 or 2-3 docking procedures when getting ore makes it unplayable, I must do a hard boot clear the game, I cant shut it down since it is halted while loading something.
Ohyeah, the new billboards, the new random bounty picture showing is also really badly done, it loads and loads and loads there aswell making long distance traveling a real pain, each gaet the game halts due to this new billboard crap has to load some picture I never look at anyway, if I want to see bounty ratings adn the pic it belongs to I do it in the station.
I'm dissapointed beyond beliefe, bad form people. Just really really bad.

I love eve, unlike so many games of recent times it puts you in an environment and lets you get on with it.
The open nature makes a refreshing change from the "get key, open door, kill boss etc.." mantra that many modern games follow.
The skill training is an excellent system and doesn't punish people who don't have 24hrs a day to level their character up.
Pre-wednesday, the bugs that I had encountered might have been annoying at times, but were generally avoidable.
Unfortunately the situation is now a lot worse. CTD, relog, CTD, relog, stuck, relog, still stuck, petition, wait.
Then when I can play I have to work with a UI that is hit and miss. My guns won't stop firing. I can't reload the ammo. I can't transfer items between cargo containers. Agent Missions still bugged - damn VIP's :( 100km warps from stations. Okay i can dock at 25km with some of them - but that still leaves a 75km journey.
Hmm, maybe the honeymoon period is over :(
Anyways, back to work...... |

This Patch is a pile of SH1T!!!! This game is an even bigger pile of SH1T!!! I can't mine now, due to an Asteroid/Camera bug that makes my camera uncontrollable. My CPU's are NERFED so I can't mine at the capacity I was used to for the past month and a half!! And half the time I have to worry about a CTD if I get into a fight with my drones out!! WTF!!! I'm an AVID online gamer with a very high end computer and extremely fast internet connection = IT'S NOT ME. I was pretty happy till this latest patch. Why don't the "programmers" take their heads out of their a$$es and put out a quality product. This game should be FREE until everyone is happy with it and it's bug free!! Personally, I'm letting this current month run out, and if there is no big fixes, myself, and a few other people I know are not going to renew. I've recommended this game to 7 people that later bought this POS and joined up. I will NOT recommend this game to anyone now!! In fact, I've passed how much of a POS this game is to the owners of the video game stores in the mall here and anywhere I see this game!! EQ was NEVER this buggy, nor Planetside, BF 1942, nor ANY game from Lucasarts! Get some experienced people on this game CCP, if they even exist in your company! Pathetic. Revenge is a dish that is best served cold. It is very cold...in space. |

I have to say, this patch has really left me devoid of any confidence in CCP. I have supported all of the previous patches up unitl now because the bugs were minor annoyances and I could see that CCp was genuinely (at least it SEEMED to be) trying to improve things for the majority of the people so I didn't ***** and moan too much. However... this last patch was waay to much IMO. Nerfing the hardeners while boosting NPC damages... this is totally screwed up. I play this game with my 2 sons online and due to an ISP outage my son was disconnected on Sunday night in between spawns at a pirate base in his MOA. This is a spawn that he could handle with ease prior to the patch. Our internet connection was down while they upgraded their systems until Tuesday evening. He logged in to play for the first time Wednesday night after applying the patch. Of course he appeared in the middle of 5 terrorists and an Ascriber, was instantly webbed and scrambled and beofre he could even acquire a target was down to about 2/3 of his structure. Shields and armor were almost instantly gone as the one ascriber seemed to be firing missiles fast enough for 2 or the pre patch ones. Before he could fire 2 shots he was floating in a pod. This is totally screwed up. If you want to bring the strength of NPCs up then do it in stages so people don't lose equipment they spent isk on that took them long hours of play to earn. lets say in your collective opinions the NPCs are at a level 4 and you want them at 10.. then take the damn things there in stages... dont go from 4 to 10 in one freaking day. Get your heads out of your asses people. Instead of making the damned cruiser rats so hard you have to have a damned BS to solo them.... why not add pirates in BS's? I mean damn... If you are trying to make it so that the only people that are able to play are in large corporations you are merrily heading down that path CCP. Also fix the damned loot tables. and the roid spawn. I also see that the map is pretty much useless now as a means of doing anything other than plotting a course... if that was the intent you succeeded there BUT as long as ther is a freaking option to tell me how many pilots are in space... give me the damned info. Also, trying to recycle stuff now? Yeah thats a ROYAL pain in the ass with the way the slider bar automatically jumps back up to the top of the list every damned time... almost as much fun as the NON-alphabetized Blueprints in my hanger and Corp's hanger when I try to mfg or research something... not bad with only 3 or 4 but we have hundreds... I am just saying that if this stuff isnt ironed out QUICK then you can take my 3 accounts off of your recurring revenue list...
I have to say based upon your customer sat ratings so far PLUS this last patch... if you are working for CCP I wouldn't buy property or make any long term financial commitments.... just a bit of friendly advice...

Dunno if it was a "one-time" happening, but my defender missiles managed to do splash damage when exploding to a asteroid. Which is cool.
But - doing splash damage to a player that is in the neighbouring system - is a bit over the top. The explosion radius for the defender missiles aren't THAT big.
Can't see this as a big problem - but thought you'd be interested - as a curiousity, at least :P Yggdrassil |

well, played first couple of hours after patch.
good things first: not as catastophic as i imagined (could log into game at once...) BUT this could be, because i did both patches at the same time.
didnt notice any positiv changes so far.
game feels very slow to me (was doing angent missions). traveling is a pain.
got stuck one or two times.
one ctd.
lots of weird graphik effects.
listening to friends on TS who talked about weird combat effects. (aggresions to people who aren t present ...)
my conclusion: it s crap. even if i m positiv, i can t call this an improvement.

ADDED to my list of stupid crap this idiotic company is doing to this game:
STARMAP: USELESS sure would be nice to see my corp members in space!! But since you can't mouse over anything and get a label, it's totally GONE, why bother keeping it in the game?
I agree about pulling your heads out of your asses. This latest patch has got to be the single biggest F up I've ever seen in a massively multiplayer game. The playability is GONE. FIX IT, or I'm gone, my friends are gone, and hopefully one day, CCP will be gone. Just another one hit wonder from a soon to be defunked company. Idiots!! Ive played for a few hours and have not crashed or gotten stuck. Hopefully it lasts. But here are a few things ive noticed while playing:
1. The market screen does not refresh after i buy an item. Have to close and open the market to display market.
2. The station name does not appear when i mouse over a station.
3. The preferences are not saved.
So far everything is pretty good. Hope to see more improvements.
