I do agree the PK was not fair, but I cannot hide that I am absolutely delighted that Hiddink was defeated by wrong call. The ref helped him beat Spain in 2002, and its nice to know that what goes around comes around.

Sorry, but you don't know nothing about italian football team  . We HATE our football team, be pride? lol. We have some good players but they have a bad mentality and play like me (very bad ). There are few people that support our football team right now in Italy.
Yes I like when we win, but be pride...we can do better of this.

Who is going to win out of France vs Spain? I didn't see Togo vs France but I do know that Zidane didn't play and France and Henry started to look good all of a sudden. Has Zizou played his last game for France?

In short:
- Materazzi shouldn't have been sent off.
- It wasn't a penalty.
- That said, Italy were undoubtedly the better team.
- That said, fantastic effort from the Aussies.
- Ukraine and Switzerland need shooting.

Losing a penalty battle after having been unbeaten, with no goal taken, for 4 matches, is the ultra suck.  What makes it suck even more is the fact that our boys had the skill to win the penalty match too, but were too nervous. They did not miss during training...

That may account for the reason they played for penalties then. That match was terrible, I think I have been mentally scarred by it. during the 2nd half, a frontal lobotamy was looking like more fun for me. both teams lokede too scared to be beaten, rather than trying to win the match........A STINKER

I think it was more the disapointing effort to not attempt to win the game against probaly the weakest team (aside the guys we beat).
From what i got last night, that was it.
It sounded rather sad tbh.... i was trying to reassure with the fact thats probaly going to be us next week

Some parts were horrible, others pretty good... the extension for example was not bad at all. Problem was that both teams had a strong and active defense, and they hindered each other's offense so much that goal chances were rare. Ah, the good old days. 2-3-5 formations. My dad told me about them, how there was more goals. I argued steady this was b***dy obvious as 5 forwards against 2 defenders was a bit of a mis-match.
Back to last nights game. I am all for good defensive work, but that cannot be the only aspect to your game. Both teams refused to commit any men forward. 2 banks of 4 in front of the keepers almost all the time. This is not good defensive work, this is playing for a draw... in a knockout stage??? IMHO fear of loosing should not be paramount over the will to win. I would rather see a team I support loose 3-2 having a go, than loose on penalties having tried nothing. both teams had good forwards, but with no support they were never going to trouble the opps defense.

It's not the refs fault....
They go there totaly on merit as being the best..
It's a shame that they are given totaly different directive by fifa on how to ref the game.. thats why you are seeing incompetent decisions.
The refs don't know what their supposed to be doing.. fifa should have let them just get on with it.
