OK so heres the stats (not confirmed)
Minmatar Gallente Amarr Caldari
Now is it me, or will these nerf hacs? for example the muninn, medium sized advanced artillery boat...the next minmatar battlecruiser will have 7 turrets and 6 lows and 4 mediums..
Gallente, 250m3 drone space, 6 guns, 5-5-8 layout > ishtar tbh.
Amarr, not to sure, but 7-3-8 layout, 8 turrets > zealot?
Caldari, 7 missile points, 4-6-8 better than cerb?
I like the idea of them, but they seem a tad overpowered...and I hate the dominix, its a solo pwn ship, its overpowered, the stats on that battlecruiser scares me....I mean 250M3 drone and 5 meds :S

Tier 2 != Tech 2.
Did the command ships (aka tech 2 BCs) nerf HAC? Nope. Then you can bet that the tier2 BCs won't as well.

people dont fly HAC's just for the dps, they have smaller sigs and are faster more agile and dont take full damage from BS's. its like saying.. new gallente drone bc > ishtar old gallente blaster bc > deimos

HACs will still be better in most circumstances, after all they do get four bonuses rather than two.
The new BCs might reduce demand (and therefore price) for HACs though.

Hacs are faster, yes they do have 4 bonuses rather than 2..but look at it from my point of view, I fly minmatar HACs, now the vagabond is fast, bit intercepter, nice damage etc, I will always class vagabond in its own ship class as 'Assault Intercepter', now lets look at the muninn.
If the tier 2 battlecruiser has 7 turrets, 6 lows and 4 mediums, as well as a damage or ROF bonus of some kind...fitted with artillery it will do more damage than the muninn...and I hate that!

As someone who specializes in medium-small sized ships (amarr) and stays away from battleships and capitals I look forward to the new Ti2 BC, definitely need something medium sized that's disposable and easy to find and yet has the firepower to be good in fleet(I usaully fly Zealot or Curse/Pilgrim and those aren't disposable and I usaully have to make a 100 jump trip to empire and back to get a replacement :/ )

Battelcruisers are a ship clss higher than cruisers - only fair that they should be able to fit more guns and do more damage.
However - they can never compete with the awesome armor/shield resistances of T2 ships. A DEIMOS fo rexample - does nto do that much more damage than a similary fitted Thorax - but it can tank the crap out of a almost anything....almost ;]

the new gallente droneboat scares me a bit, otherwise i doubt they'll replace hacs, the hideous agility alone is enough to put me off

The Muninn gets damage, RoF, Falloff, AND tracking.
Tier 2 BCs will still likely only get one bonus to guns like now. Even if they did get two, the Muninn still has two more.
Plus, the Muninn has T2 resists, is smaller, and faster. It's not just an artillery boat remember, it can do other things, too.
Similar arguments will apply to most HACs vs BCs. They're different ships. I wouldn't worry too much. You dont see a lot of BCs now even though theyre powerful and tank well, because of the large sig radius and slow speed. Tier 2 versions will still suffer from this. They aren't going to shake things up too much I don't think.

Edited by: Ugleb on 07/06/2006 12:37:12 Personally I'm more interested in what role the new bc's will be intended for. The current tier 1 bc's and their t2 variants are intended as warfare link platforms. Field command ships are simply beefed up versions of the t1 ships with the same warfare link abilities but tougher and heavier armed, fleet command ships are heavily focused on warfare link support with arguably stronger defences but relatively little extra firepower.
It seems to me that the command role is reasonably well catered for there, so what should the new ships provide? A big brother to the logistics cruisers? An-anti frigate role? They could simply be an even bigger assault class but tbh I don't think we need it, that much carnage in one ship would play merry hell with game balance.
Whatever the T1 hull does the T2 in some way evolves from and scales it up. Breachers are missile frigs, the t2 version is a stealth bomber. Blackbird is an EW cruiser, the Falcon is an EW beast. And so on. So what does the tech 1 teir 2 BC do?

does it matter if a Battlecruiser can outclass a HAC? not really because its a Battlecruiser and the HAC is still a cruiser. Tech2 and a 300mil price tag doesnt mean it has to have more firepower or tank even then a larger, slower tech 1 ship.

You're missing the point.
BattleCruisers can either tank or gank, not both.
A HAC can both tank and gank.

If u didn't realize, there ARE already Battlecruisers ingame and at least the Ferox (it's the only one i can talk about because it's the only one i can fly) with a decent fitting (nothing officer or faction like only T1 and T2 stuff) kills pretty much every deimos, makes a vagabond running tanks a cerb, eagle easiely (eats a blastereagle for breakfast) ishtar's are somekind of hard, sacri's and zealot's are quite hard too because of the EM damage (but doable) so all in all HACs are the most overpriced ships in the universe for absolutly no reason.
Like some peeps said before the main advantage of HACs is the higher speed but i wonder if the higher speed is worth 225 m (cerberus compared to ferox) not to mention that my ferox runs an AB and therefor is faster then my cerberus ...

tier2 are likely to have smaller tanks, the Ferox Mark II has less grid and CPU then the current rail version. the current reason a missleox has a huge tank is the launchers leave lots of extra power as it was ment for guns.

So what if tier 2 bc will compete with hac. They will cost around 40-50mil wich is close to what hacs were runing for when they got released. I remember i never payed more than 50 mil for my munin back in the day. This guy are very veyr close to tier 1 bs in price, sig radius, agility so i don't mind them having a bit of power. Hac's get 4 bonuses + resistances so they will always have their role. My 2 penies

I posted this already somewhere eles but ill do it again.
The build number of stats is 2.09.3805. Curent EVE build 3913. The read out is over 6 months old and for all we know the ships could have the sig radius of a pos, bonuses for small guns and one gun / missil slot.

Interesting. The ship boni are not in there, though (or, better, they still use the "old" ones of the tier 1 BC, BS, etc).

The plural of 'bonus' is 'bonuses'. Where do you people come up with 'boni'?

even with t2 200mm rails I can still fit the same passive tank on current ferox. with missiles I have 500pg to spare. so a grid reduction will not affect it much, you only need to get better engineering and AWU to make it fit. ------------------------------ if you want peace, prepare for war ... ------------------------------ Removed due to offensive content - Laqum

Edited by: Dearwin on 08/06/2006 08:53:48 I also think something that will make the Tier 2 BCs interesting is the price range. I think one of the reasons you don't see many BCs out in fleet PvP is because of their cost. Their just pricy enough that a nub who raced to em isnt gonna like the idea of loosing it, but anyone with serious cash flow would just take out a BS. I think that the Tier 2 BCs could either change or continue that, I personally cant wait to Gank in my Mini Domi.

Well if you're scared of that and it hasn't even been released then how do you feel about an Eos?
With command Ships at lvl 5 it has 300m3 drone space and has 7 guns and 5 med slots vs 6 guns (8 slots) and 5 med slots.
Don't be afraid, be very afraid

My 0.2 isk:
As far as I have seen in EvE, the BC while designed as a command ship for fleets is very rareley used as such by anyone at all ever! I myself use my Cyclone as a medium range arty boat for killing of cruisers and frigates (and while I can take some npc BS I feel a fight against a Player BS would be very short and one sided)
I think this trend will continue with the tier 2 BC. Let's face it if you are the fleet comander you want something a bit tougher than a BC to command from (BS or Command ship) and a VERY rareley see a command ship anywhere. However I do like the look of the Matari tier 2 (model and slots layout if they stay that way) and am looking forward to fitting one out as a close range armour tanked AC boat

The appearance of destroyers did not remove the need of frigates, the appearance of BC did not make cruisers useless. I don't see how the release of tier 2 BC could make Tech 2 cruisers useless.
Current BC already surpass heavy assault ships in damage output, a Brutix has considerably more damage output that a deimos, a prophecy does pretty much the same damage as a zealot, a Ferox outdamages an eagle, the only exception I can think of is the cyclone. Nothing of this has lessened the obsession for heavy assault ships, so I don't see why anyone would think it will be any different with tier 2 BC.
