So I have almost 7M SP, and I've lost about 50 ships trying to PVP, and have yet to get one solo kill. I'm honestly ready to quit. How many ships did you lose before you started getting kills? The majority of fights I end up in I can't even seem to get any good damage to the other ship, which is even more frustrating. |

Where are you trying to get solo kills? If it's in FW space you might be solo but you'll usually be fighting against them, their boosts, their Falcon alt and their Fedo.
Also what ships are you using and with what fits? (on my phone and can't check the killboards).
Half the fight is knowing which ships to engage whith your current ship and the other half is a mixture of piloting skill and knowledge (actual skill, not SP) mixed with whether they have back up or not and what skills you have trained (eg a pilot with 90% mining SP isn't going to do well against a pilot that has pure combat SP, there are exeptions though).
Don't quit, stick at it. You will eventually get your first truly solo kill, and it feels pretty good. Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

true solo kill? like 3-4 months, before that, only in groups.
join RvB, they have low-skill group frigate fights going every day, you will get solo kills there by nibbling on the edges of the fleet fights and picking off stragglers. their frigates are also free - or as good as free.
Keep at it, you will eventually win. |

Took me 3 months of loosing ships before I popped a cyno on a lowsec station in a moa...
...but looking at your KB you seem to have consistent problems:
1: You engage faction frigates in T1 frigates which will usually end in failure (To give perspective, the faction Daredevil gets a 200% damage bonus for its hybrids = MASSIVE DAMAGE!).
2: You engage ships that are much bigger than you. (That one where you got killed by a hurricane + a few others)
3: You engage a group of people, or you aren't fully aware of your surroundings and have a gang drop on you as the 'bait ship' is holding you.
I use a dessie in lowsec and look for lone T1 frigs in relatively empty systems (I may bump this up to attacking faction frigs once I get a feel for my ship).
Don't give up, test multiple ships and setups until you get one that works for you then buy a lot of them and keep learning, if you keep using the same ship, you will learn it's limits and abilities (And hopefully cut down on those loss mails ). (SISI is also good to a degree for testing these fits if you can find someone to fight fairly with). "Your security status has been lowered." - Hell yeah it was! |

How about never, and have no wish to?
Recently, I came upon a few months old char mining in a retty in 0.2 space. I could have easily reshipped to fit a scram to my cloaked T3. But no, I decloaked beside the guy, said hi, told him I was no threat, and went about ratting in system. Just the 2 of us in system. We continued chatting, and he eventually called out for some help with some rats attacking his mining boat he could not handle. I zipped over, got rid of them for him.
That gave me far more gratification than ganking the guy. (BTW, look at my killboard's ancient history, there are 0.0 and wh kills on it, of all kinds, so I do know a thing or two about shooting others in the game)
A few days later, we had some clown in a Hurricane scan him down while having an alt sit on the other side of the gate (dead end system). I gave the miner a safe spot I had, but it was a small system and could not keep him safe, while I checked out his way out of system (remember the alt?)
It did not take long before the Cane had him found and pointed. Nothing I could do for him in my outgunned exploration T3. He was extorted for cash, with a promise that the Cane pilot would not kill him for the rest of the day.
That miner has not been back to that system in some time, and rarely logs on now (I have him on WL).
Killing anyone you can is one extremely simple and childish way to play this game. There are myriad other ways, but the forum trolls and the people that control the dev's shout down anyone who suggests otherwise. Most people viewed Orwell's writings as a warning. Bookmark relic site. Wait. Warp when the rabbit is in. Its inevitable that one will take too long and let you kill their poor unarmed thieving defenseless self.
In general to get solo kills, you need to either research or learn by remembering which ship types and likely fits will kill yours and you need to seek engagements that are suitable and you need to pass up engagements that are not.
You got 50 engagements because you aren't choosing. Its a lot harder to find agreeable encounters, but not being dead and reshipping helps a lot.

I'd like you to be able to do whatever you want to, while I'm able to do whatever I want to.. and if these come to be at odds (ie: player vs. player) then so be it.

If I didn't "discourage" other people by helpfully assisting their hull hitpoints to run out with drones and guns, then I'd never get any of the good content in my system. 3 out of the 4 types of space, and the vast majority of systems in the game are designed with that in mind, and that's why the best content starts out from or is in a public signature of some description. |

You don't hesitate for a second to think that some people actually classify that system (I'm guessing that 0.2 system was Bersyrim, you're always in there when I see you, always cloaked too) as being their home and because that's their home, rougue miners are depleting thier resources or rogue ratters are ratting their plex's. Yes, lowsec technically isn't owned, but certain powers partrol and keep those systems for themselves.
Same with wormholes, if someone goes into a wormhole and starts running the sleeper sites or mining the gas etc, you can guarantee the residents (if there are semi competent) will kill the person or run them out with no questions asked. Again it's their home.
They have put the effort in to keep the system, to protect it, to call it home. Sometimes which is a logistical nightmare.
But of course you don't think about that do you? Your narrow minded view isn't the only view. Getting that first solo kill is going to be a combination of patience, luck, and as corny as it sounds a "can do" attitude. For myself it didn't take too long but things were different then, can baiting was easy, and managed to get a dummy in a hauler as a result of it. Nothing too amazing but it sets you on the right path. Just keep at it, it will come, you will learn what you can and can't fight - who's using links, who isn't, etc. etc. Also as mentioned already don't bother with high-sec the fights are always in favor of the other guy in some way, just go to fw low sec - you'll find loads of similarly SP'd players looking for people like you to test there mettle against.
PS - I highly recommend the minmatar/amarr warzone in particular. |

Buck up little camper. First of all, why does it have to be a solo kill? Eve is an MMO, get some friends. The family that murders together stays together. Don't have any friends or are an introvert? No problem, google up some RvB Ganked. Go on their public roams. Although they have fits for each roam they do, you can literally bring anything.
But to answer your question, pretty sure it was about 6mo. I wardec'd a one man corp of a guy that annoyed me. Killed him on a gate. It was glorious.
The best one after that though is more instructive. I had already murdered some miners in another corp I dec'd. The CEO came in his Harbinger to the station I had chased one of them too. I let him shoot me a bit and then I docked without agressing. Why? Because I had no freaking idea what a Harbinger was or what kind of guns or damage it could do. Checked the combat log to see what he was shooting me with and Googled. Turned out my Hurricane was a good match so I undocked to give it a go. It was a little more tense than I would have liked, but the Harbinger died and the Hurricane still had a bit of structure left. Later a guy in that same corp taught me that a Dramiel will absolutely wreck a Jaguar. Probably should have learned that before engaging.
My one piece of advice: In hisec and lowsec* you can just about always opt out of taking a fight. So only take ones you think you can win (see above) and stay out of the others.
* Nullsec and wormholes both because of bubbles and whs because of polarization "Its the pod I'm after. The ship is just a pod condom." -- Turgesson "You're a d-bag. But you're a caring d-bag." -- Sindel Pellion |

Doing it wrong. I got my first solo kill during my trial account autopiloting between systems doing the career agent missions. I was in an rail corm with ungrouped guns and no basic pvp ewar modules. Some condor dueled me so I accepted it not knowing what it does. I basically did what a nomen does when getting chased down by a tackler was that I burned away without even knowing about transversal and angular velocity which helped me apply full DPS.
Of course the moment I joined FW after my trial ended I lost alot of ships but learned alot in return. Someone even picked me up and mentored me to be better at pvp.
So basically you're doing it so wrong even risk averse carebears get more solo kills than you.
On a more serious note: Looking at your KB you either get blobbed or you pick a fight you can't win at all. Your fittings are also somewhat bad. I suggest you go read some of the pvp mechanics in eve like turrets and how to actually apply dps with them. Also lol at your enyo with damps. The poor thing was just begging to be killed. |

You're not trying at all. You're actually doing it.
I wouldn't worry too much to be honest. If you die and the other guy lives, you should now have 50 statements about tactics. In your current case something like: if I do X I will not land enough damage. I can deal with that by Y.
If you're having trouble indentifying X and coming up with Y, look for a lowsec pvp corp. The ones that dont drop armies on t1 frigs tend to have people with knowledge about what ship to engage with what and under which circumstances.
As for your question: 2
1 industrial when I grabbed "free" ore from a "helpfull" stranger 1 rifter in a oldschool can drop duel in Hek, Pator or something like that.
I killed his in round two and discovered he wasn't t1 fitted as agreed upon at all!

Looks like it took me 6 months from starting PVP to win my first 1vs1 against another combat ship. I quite enjoyed small gang PVP then when everything was new (coordinated action on voice comms was like the most awesome thing ever :D), and wasn't necessarily looking for solo in the beginning- desire to solo came along later, now I have probably +600 solo kills in everything from scanning frigs to battleships, majority in T1 frigs.
It's not easy until you figure out the most important thing- choosing your fights. Learn all the ships and their typical fighting methods and fits, and don't bang your head to the wall of picking difficult or impossible fights at first. Stick to one ship, or a select few and learn it's stats and how they compare to other ships. You need to know your range, speed and tank on an intuitive level and have a realistic estimate how it would handle against your target. Source the internet, and spend quality time with EFT. Test and practice with NPCs (or test server, if you prefer that), then fly out with a tactic that suits your chosen ship.
Go through your losses and think want went wrong. You can also look at the killboards of the pilots who killed you, and import their fits to EFT and examine them.
I took a quick look at your KB, and in general you seem to favour relatively light tanks (sometimes even no buffer modules at all?), but often complement that with smaller than the biggest guns- to fly Gallente, I'm afraid you need perfect or near perfect fitting skills so you can fit the biggest guns. Or adjust your fits for either more tank or more gank. (ie. always Neutron blasters with light tank, or heavy tank with Electrons). Don't worry about dropping a magstab or DDA Fitting implants will help until you get Advanced Weapon Ugrades V and IV rigging skills, but I still use them all the time.
Learn to warp your pod out when your ship goes down! You lose too many pods in low sec.
Don't be too hard on yourself, your losses are nothing to be shamed of (1vsMany, against veteran pilots in superior ships etc) and you seem to have a knack for experimenting with fits, which is good. Just keep at it, find a fighting style that suits you and become a master of it, and pick your fights a bit more carefully! |

I got my very first kill, which was solo, after a month.
I simply got lucky, Thorax (me) vs. Vexor (him), both noobs, both wannabe ninja mission invaders.
The following month I joined FW, solo, got 80 kills (mostly solo), 120 losses. All frigs.
At the time I could basically play or research PVP all day long. Like 10+ hours/day.
But, if you're not an unemployed crazy nerd like I was, it's normal to struggle a bit.
Best advice I can give is:
- Study a lot. The internet has a crap ton of EVE PVP resources.
- Don't derp into fights. Have a basic plan on how and why you're gonna win that fight.
- Use FRAPS or an equivalent video-capture software, frig fights are way too fast to fully understand what's going on. |

im going to leave this here for the op http://evedarklord.blogspot.ca/2014/03/carebear-to-killer.html also my first solo kill was hilariously inept, i was disco balling at the last burn jita (before joining the divils) and i got exited and lit the thing in the middle of a massive heap of batthecruisers and attack battlecruisers (none of which i could kill) and net myself a single probe, well the 20 odd other pilots i had just failed to kill made my ship pop faster than concord could even get to me. My first solo kill? About 3 months after I started this charachter. Before that i was an out and out carebear that had never tried pvp, left high sec or thought beyond Lvl4's and industry for a good year and a half.
Best decision in eve I ever made was nearly quiting but on a spur starting this char to just shoot all the things. This became my main after about 3 months.

I took the liberty of having a look at your KB.
I think your fits aren't that good, granted i didnt go thruh all of them, only a handful, but it seems to me you can work on them.
Examples, those brawling Enyos and Ishkurs, tankless except for resists. Slap a SAAR on that Enyo mate!
Or a couple tristans i saw, tankless, with a damp, and AB. Not a good combination. For a beginner, always slap some tank on your ships, especially if you go AB and brawl. Damp on a close range boat is pretty useless, on a 3 mid ship untill you really know what you're doing always go prop mod - scram - web
The only fitting i sw that made sense were a dual rep incursus, only dual rep incursus sucks balls and you won't kill anyone 1v1 with it unless he's braindead, simply because you can't hold him there while you plink at with not so great dps
edit: if you need tips or fittings feel free to drop me a message/convo in game. I'm little more than newbro myself but i know a thing or two by now
edit2: also, remember: playing drunk makes for very embarassing loss mails!! |

I recently got my first solo pvp kill when someone tracked me down during a mission in low sec, I was in my drake with no intention of engaging in PvP.
Having someone just show up startled me and while I've played on and off since 2008 I've got very limited experience in pvp but I am not shy about flying anywhere ( if I got jumped I got jumped, more surprised it took so long to finally happen) and I'm not going to run away.
So 25 mins later with mission rats shooting at us both his tank finally squeaks out and he pops, warping off in his pod. I had no scram or Web so why he didn't leave I don't know but it was an interesting encounter for me.
Most folk I come across in low or null don't hassle me and I don't hassle them (you could probably class me as some kind of care bear) which works for me cause piracy or ganking just isn't my play style (but I have no problem with folk playing that way , it's thier game too).
So 6 years and I got a solo pvp kill and I'm on 58 mil sp ;) |

I know a few soloers who will see a fight through to its bitter end if it's a good one, whether they're tackled or not. Consider me guilty as charged.
Although, if they're using dirty or cheap tactics on you and making the fight crap, you try to get out of there at all costs and blueball them if possible. You don't scare me. I've been to Jita.

Finding good solo fights is hard especially if you are unsure what you are doing. It's not rare that i wander FW space for 3 hours looking for a suitable fight only to be blobed on a gate.
Solo is the ultimate challenge imo. The felling you get after blowing up a guy in a fair fight...

Killing a cruiser with a frigate is actually pretty easy. Do a spiral approach, hold a tight orbit, and stay under their guns. My first and only solo kill was Frigate vs Cruiser. He got on shot on me on my initial approach, but once I scrambled him, and entered that tight orbit he missed every shot. Took almost a hundred rounds, but I got the kill. You just have to be sure to kill their drones before the ship. Drones and missiles are worst enemy in those kind of engagements.

This.
My first frig fight was so fast that i hardly had time to realize what i did wrong. His Daredevil against my Hookbill. It was literally a 25 second fight. (Most of which was me sitting there with my mouth hanging open at the speed of the fight.) I did not understand transversal at the time.
I ended up leaving frigates behind and learned in Battlecruisers. It gave me time to get over the 'shakes' and learn during the fight as the Drake had such a huge tank. So my first kill was my Drake against a Hurricane somewhere in low-sec. I think it was around 3-4 weeks after i started actively engaging in PvP that i got that first solo kill. -áMiko Sunji:-á "There is no better way to find out if you can swim, than swimming for your life."

Dinsdale Pirannha wrote:How about never, and have no wish to?
There are myriad other ways, but the forum trolls and the people that control the dev's shout down anyone who suggests otherwise.
lol, the people who control the DEVs. it never crosses your mind that "the DEVs' are the ones who created (or maintained) the environment that allows people to interact. Underlying all your craziness is your inability to understand that you're the one who is a misfit in this harsh game, it's not the game that has a problem.
We get it, you think you're a nice guy for playing a video game the way you do. Not shooting another player in low sec does not make you a nice guy, it makes you a guy who made a personal choice that has zero value to anyone except you. I wouldn't have killed him either, not because doing so 'is not nice', but because doing so would have distracted me from the activity I find fun (exploring).
The fact that I would have ignored the guy mining in a belt doesn't make me a nice guy either. How I treat my family, my friends, random strangers in real life and how i serve my community makes me a nice guy.
It's ironic that you look down on people who shoot other people's ships in this game when you engage in activities (PVE) which benefits from ships being blown up. Hell, your activities help create the demand for ships being blown up.
Had you blown up the guy's ship, you would have been doing EVE a service. It would have stopped his resource gathering (an activity that lowers the value of all other like resources) as well as perhaps given a ship builder a reason to build another ship. For some reason you're too short sighted to understand how the game you play works.

There are myriad other ways, but the forum trolls and the people that control the dev's shout down anyone who suggests otherwise. That is your opinion and your opinion only. Have you ever tried talking to an "invading" miner? You know, tell him what he's doing wrong and such? Oh wait you wantz teh killz.... Actually, that goes to show just how little you know: Yes, the very first miner I killed in a belt in lowsec, I tried convoing him and he specifically stated "my ore" and closed the conversation. As I was killing him he logged off, so I sent him a mail letting him know that logging off mid fight wouldn't save his ship and that tactic can't be used. The mails I got back were so vile in nature and there were so many of them sent over the course of a few days, that I actually blocked and reported the guy.
The more you know huh...

2 and a half years in sounds about right for my first true 1 vs 1 kill. Once I really started trying it took me at least 5 losses before my first victory. Best feeling in the world. Took me a full 2 minutes to calm down again and realize I should actually finish the plex.
First frigate 1 vs 1 fight was me panicking and smashing random buttons after realizing I was being attacked 3 seconds into the fight and not breaking any of the enemy shielding.
Second time I was kited to death. Took ages by comparison but could not even lay a finger on the enemy.

I was a couple weeks old. I was doing some exploration in a lowsec system with my Vexor. Guy in a rifter warps in and I didn't warp out fast enough, and I find myself tackled. So, I figure I'm screwed but I should at least fight back, so I pull out my drones and start attacking him. It ended up working because he blew up before I did. I could have gotten his pod too because he sat there for awhile, but I guess I was a little too surprised that I won. It was my first ever PvP experience and I came out on top.
Month or two later, I was in a lowsec system with my Enyo. This time I was looking for a fight. Guy shows up in a rifter, he engages, we fight, and I won. I'm in an assault frig vs his T1 so I know it's hardly anything to brag about but it was still exciting. |

One of the reasons so many people don't do solo fights is because of the learning curve in solo pvp. First and foremost, your skills will matter. Most solo pvp pilots have also focused solo pvp skills maxed out, and depending on what ships they fly, can resort to the use of drugs as well, with other words, if you got mediocre skills, chances are you most likely stand no chance vs a more experienced pvp player.
So step 1. Those main skills, and weapon skills need to be all max lvl, I went as far as having specialization skills also lvl 5. Thermodynamics lvl 5 is a must too, because you basically overheat your weapons in solo combat the most.
Step 2. Basically, here is where you just go and find fights. Chances are you will die horribly the first few times, but you will learn this way. You will get to know people's tactics, what their ships can do, what the limit of your ship is, and you will learn that way.
But it is normal to lose a lot of ships initially, the solo pvp players know their thing, so don't let this bring you down. A good advice is getting in touch with the guys that kill you initially, ask them about their fits, what they recommend, etc. Again, solo pvp is definitely not the easiest thing in eve to learn, but once you learned it, you will become addicted to this game because for some reason I never forget the 1 on 1 encounters or 1 v 4 encounters that I won, and this is one of the things that also keeps me playing.
One more thing. This is an expensive part of eve, so be ready to have a good source of isk income if you are getting into solo pvp, because you will lose more ships, and also, you will need to learn to do multitasking, such as checking people's killboards to see if they are solo fighters as well or if they are gank bait, and you need to check on some ship's what your opponent most likely is flying (example brawl comet or kite), with other words, in solo pvp you are constantly doing your intel/home work, because this increases your survivability the most. The second you start slacking with your homework/intel is when you start losing more ships. |

Why solo? Its easier to learn in a group. Get into some of the public fleets if your corp doesn't have any.
Even the best solo pilots have high attrition rates. There is just nothing you can do if you jump into 10 instalocking t3's in nullsec as a solo pilot except die horribly. Or perhaps sing if they let you try.
Thing about fights is that to win you want it to be unfair in your favor. Hell even duels are a bit of a joke. Without links your not going to do well a lot of the time. |

Not counting the ships I lost when I didn't want to try PVP, I think I lost a couple dozen ships until I learned enough to not be stupid anymore.
And I really was stupid. Not-switching-your-tank-on stupid. I got my first and last solo-PVP kill back in February, hadn't had time to do PVP since then.
A duo of assault frigs had wasted a Thorax I had lying in wait for them, so I went back and purpose-build a Caracal to smash the Wolf I still remembered being there. (I died so fast I didn't even notice the second T2-frigate until I was back for the second round.)
And even though I still ****** up seriously (like not taking navy cap boosters for my ancillary shield boosters and not overheating them until the fight was close to over), I got the Wolf. Right then I violently exploded, thanks to the other assault frigate and my own **** ups, but it was still great fun.
If I wasn't mainly an explorer travelling around Eve like a nomad, I would go back to shooting people directly. Welp, maybe after the balance passes over my two favourite ships have come, I'll go back to shooting people instead of red crosses. |

First true solo: It was my first PVP kill (I'd had losses before that). I think I'd been playing 10 weeks or so at the time.
First 1v2: About 12 weeks (I killed one and drove the other from the field)
First billion ISK solo kill: Same day as the 1v2. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=346564 - a proposal to overhaul the Logistics skill https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. www.minerbumping.com - ganking miners and causing chaos |

Still not done it, not killed a player in EVE yet. I'm a PvE-er and usually take precautions to avoid trouble as much as possible, but every now and then I get a fit about my kb and feel I ought to do something about it, but the kind of aggressive play I would have to engage in to learn PvP properly as Barb would go against her character. On the other hand, even when I've started a new pilot with the intent of learning PvP "properly", again, I've never been able to bring myself to play aggressively, attack players for no in-game reason, etc., and the new toon reverts to another goody two-shoes. It's completely silly, I know, but I just can't do it. I can't even roleplay a "bad" character ffs! :)
Having played the game for a while solo PvE in lowsec lvl 4s, I've been in a few situations where I've been scanned down and not been able to get out of the mission area quickly enough (despite the usual precautions, it can still happen sometimes) and I've able to hold players off so they either get scared as they get into structure and run off, or get bored and run off, but with no tackle I'm not able to make a kill in those situations. But then I've been successfully ganked on such occasions just as many times.
I did have one glorious fight once when I was determined to look for trouble, undocked in a triple rep autocannon Myrm in lowsec, got attacked by two guys, and was doing pretty well (one of them was deep into structure, my Mym's tank had hardly broken a sweat) and then their cavalry showed up (tackling frig and 3 BCs of various factions IIRC), the wounded guy scooted, I held the cavalry off for a good long while until I ran out of cap booster (that triple rep Myrm tank is an absolute BEAST). A good time was had by all, and "gf"s all round, but I still wasn't quite able to finish anyone off (in this case my stupidity was changing targets and trying to get the tackler off me instead of finishing off the first guy - I ought to have realized I wouldn't survive, but should have tried to take down at least one player).
I'm well over the adrenaline dump by now, and actually able to think a bit when a fight starts, and I've also got some sense of the rock/paper/scissors of the game, so I think one day I'll do it, either on Barb or an alt. |

For me it was about 2 months until my first solo kill. Corp tournament, so maybe this doesn't count. First "real" solo kill about one year later.
If you want to learn solo PVP, I would recommend RvB. They have an entire system only dedicated to 1v1 with a special set of rules (most importantly to respect 1v1 and not interfere with other fights). The good (or bad) thing about this is that most pilots there are very experienced, so beating them won't be easy as a newbie- but on the other side, all of them were always helpful, so you will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best.
I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

I'm 6 years old...110 Million SP...Never had a solo kill...In fact never had a kill of any kind...I havent been in a corp, (a real corp not my own) forever and I suck at PVP. I find enough to do in EVE to keep me interested but if I had known I would never get a kill I never would have started. And no one wants me in a corp now because of my stats...
So thats how it is...If I ever quit, Brundle is getting Biomassed with all my stuff. (30 Billion worth)...

Anyone having trouble getting solo kills, fit out a Vexor for buffer and burst damage at point blank range, and just go pick fights in lowsec.
You'll lose some, but you will get many wins, including ships much more expensive than yours. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=346564 - a proposal to overhaul the Logistics skill https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. www.minerbumping.com - ganking miners and causing chaos |

Pshh, I was dueling people in Couster on day one. Got into nullsec within my first month and never looked back. Flying solo isn't where it's at anyway, huge fleet and gang fights are way more fun. Which happen everyday in nullsec, the solo pvper in nullsec is just a free kill. Ah, all the solo crows who fly into system to only be insta thrashed on a gate. https://zkillboard.com/character/94658466/ |

There are myriad other ways,

I am not even 4m SP in yet, and I do group PvP. I almost never even deal damage (I scout ahead, set up bookmarks, etc, etc), but I can listen to the group on TS and learn tactics while my skillpoints grow. Far better than trying to gank a lone miner to PvP |

I got my first solo kill about a week after starting EvE. I was in a belt in a 0.9, ratting, and someone else (who I later saw had only been in the game for less than a day) enters the belt and loots one of my wrecks. He was in a Veletor, and even though it was only a few thousand ISK, as a brand new player, that's a lot of money!
So I blasted him.
Nowadays, I feel absolutely terrible about it. I don't think he logged back in after that (I had him watchlisted for over a year before finally taking him off), and there are times I think I, as a few-days-old newbie myself, may have caused someone to quit.
My second solo kill came almost two years after that, when I saw someone slow-boating in their pod through a bubble-****** gate in nulsec. I took pity on the guy and podded him. It was an empty clone, so I don't know why he didn't just take a pod-x, but I forcefully gave him one so he wouldn't have to boat some 50km in a pod through a bubble. My overview has never been the nicest or cleanest (and I'm too stubborn to use an overview pack), but I'm pretty sure he wasn't blue to me.
...those are actually my only solo kills.
...I'm really bad at PvP. Ransoms are accepted in Isk, Ships, Mods, and Dolls. |

You mean waiting for 3 hours to undock and then watching every fleet you come across (1 a month) run when they see you...then after 1/2 hour eveyone has to dock up to go to work, chase the kids, obey the wife...
