It has been my goal ever since I have become a battleship pilot to kill a Raven, solo in PVP Combat.
I have tested many different Battleships except for.. Megathron, Dominix, Scorpion, Raven. For the cases I have tested it just seems like I need a perfect optimal, lots and lots of repairers or hardners and luck that they have not fit resistance specific to my damage type.
So community of Eve, tell me how do you take down a raven in Solo PVP, What ship do you use? What Weapon systems? Are there any tricks to combating these beasts of no optimal, only kill zone and loads of tanking.

Your best bet is probably a Nosdomi...you use nosferatus to sustain your own tank while killing the Raven's tank (shield tanks are very cap sensitive), and five heavy drones (really should be T2) to apply the damage. ECM can help here, although with FoF missiles, he can still keep shooting when jammed, albeit with significantly reduced DPS.

Wow lots of reads. It seems like there are three effective counters to a Raven. A NOSDomi, A blasterthron Is good I hear and a Scorpion...
This thread has a ton of reads for only one reply, doesnt anyone else have any clues as to the weakness of a Raven?

raven weakness... um for anything bigger than a commet nothing. You either have amazing skill/tactics or you die a painfull explosive death. It is quite impressive how their missiles take no cap and hit the same at any range. (just like lasers ) your best bet is to get a couple vagas and tear him a new one. (any fast small ship works BTW, just a matter of MISSILES NEVER MISS)

You should pop a cruise raven with ease. An equally skilled torp raven is a tough nut to *****: best bets are a nosdomi, nosphoon or another raven IMO.

To kill a raven you just need a good tank and NOS/neuts, tanking the raven isn't really a problem on a BS you just need to kill it's cap... - - - - - - I have no strong feelings one way or the other... |

Uhm, no? T2 Raven will rip appart any Megathron/Tempest, regardles how good their tank is. To beat a Raven you need lots of ECM. I doubt a pure NOS domi without ECM will cut it, since the Raven will inject it's cap through a Cap Booster. If it gets a lucky jam or even two it gets interesting... I have been looking to kill a Raven in Solo for many weeks now. With the help of a friend (who was in a Raven and could fit what he pleased every test we did) I have found a semi effective ship. Its NOT a setup for the faint of heart. Expensive items with long skill times and is exretmely skill instensive.
The Apoloclypse is what I have found to work the best. However its not the ship, its the setup. Bascially it boils down to having 8 Tach II's with Gleam L (Short Range).
The Mediums you fit 3 Caldari Specific Racial Jammers and a Cap Booster
Lows are pretty much DMG mods and PG/CPU mods. Med Armour Repairer.
With 5 Explosive/Kinetic T2 drones it will make short(ish) work of the Raven.
Be warned, its not a tanker, and you gotta be lucky too. But its the best idea I can give you. Hope it helps.

against a shield tanked raven I recommend attacking it's cap, like it was said earlier if their using cruise it's easier... torps freaking hurt when your in nos range.
What I fear when in my raven has to be a nos-domi, **** load of nos and t2 heavy drones.
Highs=nos and as many as possible mediums=scrambler/web/ecm stuff lows= armour tank and drones do the killing

A Raven is a very difficult ship to jam, your best bet isn't going to be close range fighting.
The best thing to take out a Raven would be a high DPS med-long range ship with two or 3 T2 Sensor damps.
Or you could got with an Apoc and a rack of Large SB's, T2 Caldari Jammers, and a good armor tank/battery setup. If you space the SB's right you'll knock out most of the missiles while maintaining a relatively effective rate of damage. Nos Domi's are okay but most good Raven pilots carry drones and FoF's, and a SB in the hi's. It'll take awhile but the SB will kill the Domi's drones before a well-tanked Raven will die. And even then, locking the drones and letting 'em have it with missiles doesn't hurt. Despite their added toughness T2 Heavy Drones will die to a sustained Torp volley before they can really hurt a Raven.
A Raven will probably have a solid minute of engagement time before 5 T2 Heavies can kill him off without a shield tank. And in that time a Torp Raven can target (10 secs~) and fire off 5 volleys of torpedoes + Smartbomb, that's enough to kill two or three T2 Heavy drones and extend your combat time. The problem with the Domi is that the Drones are its only true offensive capability, neutralize them and all it can do is just sit there with a confused look on its face. If the Domi doesn't jam the Raven right off the bat, (Which is a 1 in 4 chance from a Scorpion, I've had plenty of fights with a friendly Raven to know, and if he's got backup sensors you'll likely never jam him.) Then the Raven can launch his drones against the Domi's and methodically kill off the drones with his torps or CM's and then turn that firepower on the Domi. (I've gotten caught in a web with a fleet fitted Scorp and was able to keep the ship jammed for four complete cycles but I couldn't hurt the drones, I was fitted for extreme long range with 425's instead of CMs. Fleet fitted scorps have no tank whatsoever, so a tanked Raven, even with a Nos Domi will have at least 20 seconds of solid tanking before the cap dies.)
If I really wanted to kill a Raven solo, I'd go with a 'Geddon at Medium/Long Range with T2 Sensor damps, knock out his ability to lock me and just pulverize him. Stay out of drone range and with 3 T2 Sensor Damps you can effectively remove a Raven from combat. And with a T2 Fitted 'Geddon he'll be dead in less than 2 minutes.

Kill a raven with a geddon...!? most ravens i come across dont double em rank, if they have a cap booster they cant have a decent tank and have a warp scrambler so warp off if he gives u much grief.
Tho most are ecm\sensor dampening so its a tough one then --------------------------------------------------------

Dominix is the most reliable, simply because non-ECM Ravens die slowly and ECM Ravens die/warpout rather quickly to drones. Other than that, any shortrange BS starting at 30km or less will work - with the caveat that the ewar heavy ones are likelier to force you out with a few lucky cycles.
Other than that though, even a permajammed MegaT with T2 heavies will force it out in a pure 1v1. Anyways, ECM Ravens don't have enough tank to hold off even 4 T2 Ogres and fully tanked Ravens don't have scramblers. Faction tanks will rock your world, but other than that most shortrange BS can live through the experience.

Thermal ftw. A typical raven tank includes 2 invulnerability fields and a photon scattering field (or replace the photon scattering field with a warp scrambler). This puts everything but thermal at around 70% or higher if the modules are tech II. Thermal is around 60%, making it the weakest resist. -Wrayeth

I've found when I'm flying a raven, my two biggest peeves are an ECM / Nosdomi and a gankageddon. EM + Thermal is gonna be nasty, and ECM / Nos will give a torp raven a hard time (less so a cruise raven due to FOFs)

Aye, if the neutron II mega gets in range and the Raven doesn't have 2 therm and 2 kinetic hardeners its toast.
Never agree to a 1v1 versus a Raven in a Megathron though, because they will fit the above.

Any type of NOS ship is required to take out a raven tank. Gallente are ideal for drones and blasters, since NOS is (relativly) close range.

to take down a raven solo, use a vamping ECMing domi, or use a domi to take down anything for that matter, its unkillable :).

In my experience, there is nothing that comes close to power of Dominix fitted for Nos+Neut, 3 jammers, heavy cap injector, and double LAR all tank low slots.
I used to get frustrated trying to kill Ravens in my blaster mega, but this this dominix setup, it's very easy.

Are you suggesting a Rage Torp Raven will fight solo, target paint you well, and hold you down so you don't go base speed, nerfing the damage that will already be kinda ****ty?
And that they'll have no problems using cap boosters even faster since they'll have 0 cap recharge?
A Torp Raven won't use Javelins against another BS, since with few exceptions, they're already hitting you full-force.
