You can see the OS of anyone who goes to your website very easily. So they can see who uses myeve - and it'll scale up probably very accurately.

Ovuer, is there any chance that non cargo NPC Missions could be created.
Like for example. Repairing in space missions "An envoys ship has become disabled udue to priate raids, can you please go repair him"
Or even missions to manufacture items, say the Agent tells you he is in a hurry and gives you a BPC and a stack of minerals, telling you that you can keep any overages.
Or perhaps hacking/archealogy/mining missions.

Browsers tell the server what version they are, and generally provide a few other tid bits of information that can be compiled and interpreted to learn that information.

Hello Sir Oveur,
Thank you for the devblog, which adresses the concerns of many.
I applaud the intention to create new stuff and I understand the need to use the same code for TQ and China.
Since there appears to be no other way to send you a message except these forums, i wish to ask of you to address the following:
Being a mission runner I find I am bothered by the following little problems, which can reduce my enjoyment of EVE :
- The new Reload all (CTRL-R) does not reload all in heavily loaded systems. One has to click reload six times to fix.
It seems the reload all does separate reload commands for all weapons, where the second reload cannot take the ammo
since the first has locked the stack.
- The cargo bay capacity is sometimes not refreshing when looting (fixed by docking).
- The overview is sometimes not refreshing (fixed by docking, not by jumping).
- The righmouse menu over a station does sometimes not appear (seems to depend on arrival angle, both ships in gang
had it at same time)
- The nice music changes to a lot of banging noises when using a warpgate. This might depend on taste.....
- On the F10 map, the "systems i have visited" has not updated for months.
- On Angel Extra, killing the spiderdrone does sometimes not return normal ship speed. Interestingly, this appears a
client side bug, since my gangmember saw my ships speed return.
Please Sir Oveur, consider these small mission runner problems, when assigning developers after the successful and
troublefree introduction of the Dragon codebase.
Kind regards and fly safe.

I have three accounts ... why? I love EVE! I don't even run them as support. I run one account through combat missions while the others run courier missions. It's a lot more fun than doing a mining op!!
With the NPC trade and mining so much less rewarding, I really hope there will be non-combat missions introduced shortly. Without a rewarding activity that my alts can do while I focus on one combat mission, I'll end up cancelling accounts.
While I recognize that CCP is focusing the game on PvP, EVE is such a beautiful universe to live in and explore outside of PvP. It's a shame we still do not have an exploring aspect. (Looking forward to Kali!)

No need to stamp 'Agreed' on anything, a form of a skill queue is on The Drawing Board. We've got some things to work out first, but it is on the list.

Originally by: d00bld0ze Those courier cargo mission level 4, who you can earn huge quantity of money, juste with afk jump, is like afk macro mining. Good to ear that there are removed!
Why exactly do you care? I don't use macros. However, when I've got to go somewhere that is 3+ jumps, you can be sure I'm going to turn on autopilot and alt-tab to something more interesting. Sure, the game is pretty, but it's VERY boring traveling in this game. Before you say it, I don't PvP. I avoid high risk areas like the plague.
Just make the game more interesting. Long ass training times and long ass travel times. How unoriginal.

When one says that almost all courier missions are gone, which of the following does this mean: A) The agents that gave mostly courier will give the few that are left over and over B) The agents that gave mostly courier will now give almost all combat C) The agents that gave mostly courier have gone on vacation
They are all bad, but B and C are particularly bad, as they are basically telling a group of players to stop playing until Kali comes out, or they can reskill to the point they can solo level 4 combat missions. Why not leave courier stuff around until you've got something to replace it with? This is on par with removing Warp Scramblers from the game while you rebalance some ship design.

I'd complain a little more in-depth about courier missions, but frankly I don't think it will help very much if at all.
Regardless I'm not entirely pleased and I think you guys are making a very unwise (and stupid) move. --------- >>Disclaimer: Anything Nukeitall says is not to be taken seriously. Mostly. |

What could be more "interesting" than having your agent ask you to deliver something in Amamake? God I hated those missions. You got 3 hours to deliver something in a system that has pirates sniping at the gates in rotating shifts. Perhaps now the agents will ask for something in 0.0 to be brought back to Empire. I guess that would get more people into 0.0.

We're patching Dragon exactly because of the many problems plaguing Tranquility.
I'm not worried that you want to patch a troubled system - of course that's what patches are for.
I'm worried because you want to patch a troubled system and have no clue what's causing the regular crashing / rebooting (that's what the "server's down", "server's up", "server's down again" news stated).
Anyway, I have a 8 days skill running so take your time and send Mr. Murphy to someplace else. -----

Well, this sucks. I just added a bunch of gametime recently. If I'd known I'd be forced to take a break until Kali I could have waited.
I'm a level 4 courier mission specialist with extremely high standings. All my skills are focused on my career. I can't fly a battleship or HAC, what about at the level necessary to keep my agents happy if they are about to become kill agents.
And my career is simply removed because someone thought it wasn't "interesting" enough. Well guess what? Taking it away entirely is even less interesting.

Thanks for the blog, Oveur. Very interesting. As far as courier missions go I like the sound of more interesting missions but it's true that some people are flying them afk. I think it'd be interesting to add a little more thinking to them so that you have to plan the optimal route. Also a hauling sequence culminating in manufacturing some item would be good.
If you could link missions from different runners that would be cool - perhaps using the contract system to create a swap-meet.
*But* it's also true to say that some people are running courier missions because they are afk. If it's not actually your intention to stop this kind of gameplay then you should put those simple missions back in. -- (Battle hardened miner)

Fix the drones So that they stop unlocking assigned target.
These are the only 2 problems that matter the rest i couldnt give a flying frack about
1 Fix the drones so that they stop unlocking assigned target
2 After the drones have unlocked the assigned target the drones then randomly choose antoher target and start attacking it
Fix those 2 problems
These 2 problemse appeard when you removed that abillity for the drones to auto attack buildnings.

Originally by: Oveur This is the eternal problem of testing high loads. We can't duplicate the code's native environment (Tranquility), because we have no way to replicate the load of 28k players.
I still say you guys could and perhaps should write headless client bots that do things vaguely similar to what real people do, then connect hundreds/thousands of them to the test server just to simulate load... I suspect that without the 3D engine, the client would take precious little power to run, you guys have presumably profiled this stuff.
1. Mining bots who eject cans, mine, and transfer into the can. 2. Travelling bots who set autopilot to random systems then fly to it. 3. 'Station simulator' bots who load sit in stations, load market details randomly, make & change orders 4. NPCing & missioning bots (in pretty much indestructable ships) who fly through asteroid belts/missions/complexes activating and deactivating their modules on their targets. 5. Fleet battle bots who form gangs of hundreds per side and then warp into each other and open fire, etc.
It would take away those resources from other development and/or fixes while creating these, but it would give you great tools to simulate server load without needing hundreds of players' cooperation, and you could also put a couple real clients in the fleet battles to profile the stress on them there rather than having to attend actual ones on Tranquility.

anecdotal evidence playing on Sisi with a mining agent has shown so far 6 combat missions offered in a row. I'll be back on to refuse and get another when the timer elapses again... (I know it's test server, but I like my 10.0 standing)
that'd be answer B by the way....
the new client also looks slower to me, activating guns and the icon takes a couple seconds to appear next to locked target, and moving items from cans to cargo or cargo to hanger causes pauses.... so far I am not impressed.

This appears to be the Kali plan, but they made it pretty clear that there are NO new missions replacing the courier missions they have taken out yet, leaving a big gaping hole that so far as I can see looks like A B or C. From the other thread where someone posted their testing on Sisi, it appears that it is B, and that the courier agent track has been essentially removed.
Edit: and it looks like some testing posted here while I was typing the above- thanks for checking this out. |

That is not good. Not good at all.
Please Oveur this needs to be addressed. Saying 'some future content patch' is not good enough. Surely your own statistics can tell you that some people only fly courier missions. What do you expect those people to do until courier missions come back? Did anyone at CCP give any thought to it at all?
You know what this makes me think? Not enough people run those missions and of course there's no combat so you just dropped them. That's a really nice attitude you seem to displaying to some of the player base. I hope that there is some other reason why Sisi is throwing up combat missions for courier agents but if not:Shame on CCP this time. -- (Battle hardened miner)
