If I can talk my wife into moving to Iceland, does the pay cover for living in there? 600$ sounds pretty lousy to me especially with dollar going down, but maybe Iceland is a cheap place?

Well i would be very intrested in applying to the job, I think i meet all the requirements for the job however i wont leave my safe live for that amounth of money.
It sounds like an adventure and a dream come true but the money is not conform standards in anyway.
Even tough you would add the ( shared ) living and food .
Live in iceland is very expensive from what i have heard

- moving to Iceland (k, is a nice country) - living with 2 other ppl that i dont know (you can have luck r not..) - hearing 8h whinning a day (that cost nerves)
and that for 600$??
dear CCP plz make an serious offer... 600$ is nothing for work as support and that with the 3year old acc. limit is a joke, isn't it? it will be hard (or immposible) to find a good GM who is playing 3 year EVE and want to do that for that crapy loan...

Good luck to all who apply, alas, I've only been here for 2 years and a few months, and I live in the US. But gods, with an offer like this, maybe I should relocate...

then I can apply, I'd love to be a gm and I've spent most of my working life in customer service, yeah it can be crap but there are nice ppl out there I believe.
Although u'd think that most ppl are bad or annoying or whatever, usually its just frustration.

No it does not stop you, it makes your chances smaller, and so does your continuous whining about it on the forums.
Make an application, explain carefully why you don't need 3 years of EVE experience, this might be because you have prior experience with customer support, but you might find other reasons you want to explain too.
There is relly nothing to loose in this case

CCP pays for your apartment, some meals etc and iirc you may get offered a full-time position after a while with a significant increased pay (and living standard?).
So the $600 is just for some food and entertaiment while you are working for the intern program.

When you were living away from home at college, university, etc. how much were you typically spending on food a week?
Im just trying to get an impression of how expensive it might be to live in Reykjavfk, whether the stipend would cover living costs. Is it going to be ramen all but two nights a week, or if you can live modestly but comfortably on the stipend.

Heh. I spent a good 18 months as a guide for Everquest back in the day. These poor interns are in for some "fun". Nothing like ungrateful players berating you for not helping them fast enough.
Pity the internship isn't in England, say, Yorkshire!

It seems to be working, look for the text ôHelgi Marö and click upon that, or right click and then copy and paste the address into an email, remember to strip off the ômailto:ö . Id make a little link here, but IÆm not sure the person would appreciate their email address getting harvested by some spam bot.
Failing that, go to CCPgames, click upon Jobs in the bar across the top and look for the general email address to submit resumes.

Dollars are what was given to me for the announcement and I believe what the Acounting staff is going to use for pay purposes. Subject to exchange rate fluctuations, that amounts to ~470Ç or ~42.2k ISK per month.
42.2 isk wtf and i thought i was bad making $600 to ú300 but 42isk god no wounder you where looking at moving out of ice land. ----------------------------------------------

Thing you guys are forgetting is that the $600 "salary" isnt the salary at all. To get your actual salary you would have to factor in the cost of accomodation and meals that CCP are providing for you as well. The $600 is for "living expenses" (beer & pizza). __________________________________

You have to remember that this isnt a job, its an internship, work experience, an industrial placement or whatever you want to call it. You get fed and watered in return for an opportunity to get some experience and a potential foot in the door with CCP for a real contract later on.

For the people who are shocked to see the salary, keep in mind that you dont need to pay for rent or for much food. ( the lunches are really filling and healty) Just be careful of utsala (sale) in stores when you walk around Reykjavik and you¦ll be fine. Although I did buy some nice boots here.
As I understand it the GM¦s share an appartment but everyone has their own room(ofcourse) and it¦s actually nice to come home and have some people around to talk to and watch tv together when you move to a new country. The current GM¦s do work shifts and sometimes one comes in when the other goes to work, honestly you shouldn¦t worry too much about annoying roommates.
Best advice I can give you is: BRING WARM CLOTHES

That pay offer is truly dreadful. You would have to be very dedicated to EVE, or at a real dead end where you are now to even consider it. Personally I couldn't look someone in the eye if I was paying them that much for a full time job.
I suppose in this industry there are queues of fanboys ready to be exploited.

lets say beer 2$ pizza 5$ .. i would drink 5 beer a pizza a day thats 15$
380$ : 15$ = 25days :-/ thats not enough because on weekens more beer is needed :-P
Hehe that puts a nice spin on it.
Interns in any industry will typically have second jobs. Judging by the number of bars and restaurants around CCP's offices I would say that the opportunities are boundless - for work as well as more free booze and food.
When we interview for interns, if the guy starts the process with "how am I supposed to live on $600 a month?", he's already lost the game... Use it as an opportunity to network, learn some cool stuff, experience a foreign culture and meet some like-minded people. Get a second job FFS!
Edit: A internship is not supposed to pay off your mortgage and buy you a car. It's an opportunity to learn the trade from the masters. -*-*-*-*-

well i currently have an morgage to pay and since everything is imported to iceland everything is more expensive then the rest of the world. this is more something for drop out students or die hard gamers. mabe a local kid from iceland wanting to make an extra buck.
and not for an 28 year old male in the middle of his career to switch jobs and make his hobby his work..
