perhaps the reason is that america has the same restriction for eu...
you cannot even enter usa without the new biometric passports, while eu, still allows you to enter with the old ones...

I meet all the requirements and would jump at this chance but I'm from USA.
I got 2 ideas to fix this problem :
1) CCP could move its headquarters from Iceland to USA 2) Maybe we can work on making Iceland our 51st state

Some things that would be interesting to know.... I have sent an application, and I hope they like what they got. but I would like to know some things.
Helgimar, can you or one of the ISD/GM's answer this question: How many people that fill the requirements have actually sent in applications?
I have been thinking and I cant think of a singel person that I have played with for 3 years that has the ability to just drop everything and leave, I mean myself I have to quit my current job to accept the posititon as GM... IF I get applied, and add to that maybe a few days to get rid of my apartment (shouldnt be to hard in an attractive town, already have offers for renting it out 2nd hand).
Even so, I would indeed love to come to Island and work with CCP.
THIS IS POSTED WITH AN ALT.

Pretty close on all accounts Nelix, sure you're not an alt?
Originally by: Nelix Trist Right, to answer all questions here are the answers.
Q1 - Who pays for the flights to Iceland? A1 - CCP will cover the costs to and from Iceland kA (kieron Answer) - CCP will pay for flight/hotel for interviewees and assist with relocation expenses for interns that recieve offers.
Q2 - Can I be considered for an internship if I'm from a non EU country A2 - No. Only EU based citizens can be considered (Shorter time to organize working Visa's) kA - Yes, you can be considered for an internship if you live outside the EU, see Q3.
Q3 û I donÆt have enough playing time on my Eve Online account, can I still apply? A3 û Yes, long as you have relevant experience in the Customer Support industry, or if you have been a GM for an MMORPG game in the past.
Q4 - $600 for working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week? That rubbish! A4 û This is an Intern placement not a full paid job. You are employed to learn hence why you will not be paid a full salary. The apartment, travel, and some food costs will be covered by CCP, so you donÆt have to worry about rent and so on.
Hope this helps a few people.

Well, IÆm no alt. What I can tell you though is that I like to take in as much information as possible, so to provide an accurate answer when replying to questions. Also, to provide a good and stable answer means that the people taking note of the answers provided, will understand you (no need to re-ask the question).
All around, to answer the questions in full, provides a greater sense of customer service, making the customer happy and also your boss *wink*. Emm?"Cant touch this" den der der dum, der dum der dum KILLING THE BUG'S, BEFORE THEY KILL YOU |

can I remote desktop into the office in iceland please? Make it so I cant steal the software, but still use it? I'd be more than happy to answer petitions and such. I was a "guide" in everquest for some time (very very limited GM abilitys)
If you tell me there is a chance I can work from NA, I'd gladly take you up on it. Heck I'd voulenteer my time to help make the game better. I love EVE and up until the 5 bookmark limit thing I loved CCP. I still do, just waiting for the final resoultion and hopeing it comes sooner than later.
Good luck guys, hope you find lots of helpful hands to aid around the office =)

And how many bonus points would that 5000 word essay get me?

With the amount of interest in this opportunity, I would expect a reply any time soon. Although on the other hand, if you are right for the Intern then maybe, just maybe, they might grab you up real quick.
On the note of the 5000 word essay, you might be lucky, and Helgi thinks your good, or on the other hand, he thinks ôI canÆt be asked to read thisö, then youÆve just wasted your time. ItÆs down to your own personal opinion on wither you think it would help or not.

I'm sorry, this is the worst job offer I've ever seen.
$600 a month? Even with provided apartment that's a ridiculously small amount of compensation. I made more than double that as a freaking TA (which, by all accounts, is the next thing up from slave labour). I've been to Iceland, cost of living there is not that low to justify this. Especially considering the relocation requirement.
You want "the best" (no, I don't qualify, I've just had a decent job before) you really oughta be prepared to offer decent incentive. The best can go anywhere, why in the world would they pick this?

well considering that on a normal apprentice pay, you can barely afford a small room and food, and here you actually get food, a good apartment (though shared), and you get more than enough cash to pay for another apartment if you wished so?
i fail to see the lousy offer.. it's not a job.. it's a sort of apprentice thing. It can lead to a real job in 3-6 months if you are good.
And you get to work in the industry you love.
All i see is a good offer...
yes ccp require you to relocate.. but they have always done that.. nothing new there. It's their policy.
Personally i am more than willing to relocate to work with something i like. But then again, i'm not tied down by family and gf currently... EvE-CCG Spoiler Database |

Man, this sounds like it could be a very cool experience. Not that I'd be that interested as getting a career as a GM, I'm a lot more interested in software engineering and that kind of stuff... but still this sounds wicked for what it is, moving to iceland for a while and whatnot. I'd be totally in on it and I (almost) fulfill all the necessary requirements, but I'm in my last year of high school atm. Totally would've jumped on it otherwise.
You better do it again! How does next May sound to you? ;) |

In response to this statement, I see your worry; in fact I see everyoneÆs worry. What you have to think of though, is that I doubt you will ever be given the chance up front, unless you have great skills, and or, a long background of Game Master experience. Until today, I myself wasnÆt sure on what $600 would equal to in Pounds Sterling, as I would have commitments that have to be paid for. YouÆre correct, it isnÆt much, but you have to look at this in the long term not short term. I worked as an apprentice computer technician for 2 years, only receiving on average to be about $495 a month. It was worth it. I got my job with the company I was working for.
This is something many people have to think about, no stability for the long term. The only thing I can say to you, that is one of my own opinions, ôRisk vs Rewardö. The risk you take is nothing compared to the reward you would get if you were lucky enough to be offered a full time job.
LetÆs break it down; Risks: 1: I leave my job for something that could only last 3-6 months. 2: I leave my home, possibly family, for something that could only last 3-6 months. 3: IÆm on a low income, not enough to save on, and I may have to come back home with nothing. It takes me 1 month, maybe more to find another job, how will I live?
There the risks now look at the rewards. Rewards: 1: I get a change of environment, nice peaceful place where I can enjoy myself. 2: I will be working with some of the greatest people alive today. Not only are they the best at what they do, they have pride in what they do, which make it even more worth it. 3: You meet new people, make new friends. 4: You share a flat with 2 other people in the same position as you. Helping each other through there time spent at CCP, hoping to get something great at the end. 5: Nights outà Not only are the CCP employees great for there work. Throughout the community of Eve Online, they are known for there famous drinking habits. You will be able to join them for a few. 6: You get to work on Eve Online, wither it be as a Game Master or another part of the game. This itself is worth it alone.
So as you can see by just some examples off the top of my head, this is an opportunity that should not be missed.
Once again I hope this helps a few people realize what there either, missing out on, or getting themselves into.

I don't see why people are complaining. CCP's not going to suddenly up the pay when they seem to have plenty of people who want the job more than extra spending money.
Something like this isn't for everyone. If I only got $600 a month, that'd go almost entirely to pay my monthly bill for my student loans. I'd still do it.
However I'm not in the EU, I've only played for a year, and writing a 5000 word essay would be painful, despite the fact I did a 25-page paper (which was alittle over 6k words) in my writing intensive course.
