I'm confused by this part...
Also showing up are the 8 new Cosmos complexes for 0.0 space, and their attendant 10/10 static complexes.
What does that mean, attendant static 10/10 complexes? Confusing. Anyone know?

I hope that the object description callout box rendering is being worked on. It won't help much if they all over-lap each other.

Complexes: Please rethink the concept of static 10/10 complexes. There are enough other threads about how to avoid farming of complexes. (Most important: avoid respawn at DT)
Seamless map: The screenshots are nice, but can you tell us anything about improvements with usability and perhaps with scanning other ships?

more complexes = bad
why?
complexes = boring grind = boring exploiting = less interaction between players = less fun for all involved
sorry, but I have never heard anyone talking about how much fun this cosmos stuff is, all I saw is people talking about how to maximize profit by exploiting the system
and since the majority of players wont enter a cosmos complex anyway (most corps have designated farmer/grinder for it anyway) could you spent more time on parts of the game which affects most playes (or at least more).
Like making low sec meaningfull, improvements on mining, improvements on npcing?
atm npcing is so dull... its increadible

Even assuming that the game is played as designed, and that there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of it, the comment about gas clouds being interesting as alliances fight over them was an eyecatcher.
Not because I think it will be interesting, but because it's simply more of the same.
You'll get, and I'm just guessing here, more blob-warefare, more lag, and more (the horror) POS ping-pong. POS ping-pong is the single greatest nail in the coffin at them moment, and hell, I'm an optimist at heart.
Look, I'm a hardcore Eve'r. I've been with the game for a long time and have had a lot of fun with both the game and my mates. But the way things work now between decent-sized alliances is just pathetically predictable and dull. Honestly...it's all about who gets bored first anymore. The small gang stuff is unbelievably fun, even up to smallish fleet engagements. Get over 30 or so on a side, though, and a lot goes to pot.
I'm starting to feel like the game I loved is not actually the game itself, but more the idea of what it could become. I'm wondering about that now. In the meantime, I'll just keep training toward those shiny new ships we're supposed to be getting.

The seamless map with the actual Eve galaxy making the background is too cool. Overlapping popups that are unreadable isnÆt too cool. The æYou Are HereÆ popup should stand out more, like having itÆs own color. Color coding for types (Gates, Stations, belts etc.) would make it faster to get a quick bearing, unless of course youÆre colorblind.

The one "problem" with testing anything on the test server is that it is always out of date skill-wise.
I don't see how anyone can be expected to "test" and report bugs if their character is weeks, or in some cases months old.

It's a significant handicap to training specifically to test certain things.
E.g., if I want to test the new BCs, but I don't fly BCs so I only have the skill to level 1, I don't have the option of training for that purpose. As a result, CCP loses potential testers.
Of course, you can train skills on Sisi, but people never seem to think of that.
Still, they would be wise to do a new mirror immediately before putting Kali on Sisi.

Please no more 10/10 complexes. It only benefits a small number of exploiters and farmers and does nothing but aggrevate the remaining 99.9% of the eve population.
Seriously Devs, just take a look at the existing plexes, go and have a look, you will see the same people, 3 times a day (well or every 45mins ) farming the plex forever.
FYI some of these complex farmers are paying real $$$ to alliances to keep farming undisturbed.

I hope the devs realize they have to integrate the background as actual objects at some point in time - as it stands now i think the seamless map will actually make size less immersize than it already is due to the static background textures.

new map = good
yet more licenses to print money for the big alliances = bad
Get rid of the static complexes, make them all random and transitory. Wasn't this in the plans, at one point? The recent mess with the RA/RAT apparently exploiting 8/10 complexes for trillions of isk should underscore how much of a bad, bad idea static high-end complexes are.

Gotta agree with the thoughts on static complexes.
Alliances won't fight over them, all they will do is find the nearest one and litterally farm it and it's not like alliances need yet another cash cow to milk right now.

If these complex's is as most of the rest of the Cosmos complex's, the items dropped inside them is mostly used to complete cosmos missions. These missions you can only do once. So only farming purpose would be to make as many members of your corp/alliance be able to complete the missions. Which would make it a novelity value and so fade for most part I would think.

new complexes ? well have been only in a few. actualy they are very badly spaced in the galay I think.
gas coulds ? I think I'll be turning into a miner as combat becomes more and more unpredictable.

might make territory more flexible - its just lazy farming alliacnes that dont watn em moved - CCP ignore them the RA debacle says enough mvoe em around they will still be in same constellation region that alliances control just means they will be more open and less farmable

New seamless map makes me feel rude in my pants.
One thing I am beginning to fear though, is that there is simply no reason to remain in the North. Substantial new content (in the form of 8 regions and a new NPC) is being added to the southeast corner of the map, and no doubt that these new complexes will be more prevalent in the south where there are more regions.
Can we northerners get some love too?

There's a new symbol in the menu down the left, I notice - seven down from the top. Is that for the new contracts system?

Looks like a contract icon to me, I wonder if you can open up the contracts window while in space?

God made a mistake when he made the orbits elliptical, CCP has obviously fixed this very old bug.

If you look on the orbits of the planets of our solar system, all of them except Mercury (and Pluto) have a very low eccentricity, so you would not notice it in a truely scaled image. You can find the exact data in wikipedia under planets

The new cosmos regions will be scattered all over the map. So yes, you guys in the North will be getting some love too.
As for eliptical orbits, just rotate the view a little so you are seeing the system from an angle.

The new regions are supposed to be accessible from the North somehow. One of the reasons CCP are adding them is because the South has too much territory as it is. As far as we know, they might not even appear in the location they are now, and magically move across the map..

More important:
What kind of cosmos will we face? Last time a dev promised that 0.0 cosmos is no way related to the empire cosmos we know. Cosmos is just a name for new content added to Eve.
In your blog it seems that the 0.0 cosmos is just another grind in addition to the empire grinds we already have. So cosmos and the 10/10 complexes = grinding npc
or cosmos and the 10/10 complexes = player interaction and fun?
I dont realize if you know this, but we dont need more grind in 0.0. We moved to 0.0 to avoid all those stupid carebear grind we would face in empire. 0.0 is all about to minimize PvE interaction and maximize PvP interaction. Whether its shooting, diplomatic or industrial nature.

Nice try, but that won't work, as the star should sit at one of the two foci of the elipse, not the centre.

How can you tell where the new cosmos regions are on the map?

I imagine being a Dev he knows because he saw the plan...
...or do you mean how do players know?
It's going to be amusing if they just release them with no announcement in advance as lots of people scramble - more likely I guess there will be some build up to it!

Originally by: lil'devil Please no more 10/10 complexes.
Dude, I think they are already implementing a fix for this. 2 days ago, a GM came to our complex in NZPK, in Omist. Well, RA has had a god damn carrier pilot and a few others that do NOTHING but stay in that plex and farm it day in and day out. And they stay cloaked and take the keys to the plex after every DT and no oen can do anything about it. But.....
It seems the GM told them to leave and that they cannot "farm" the plex anymore. The warning was given to everyone in system it seems.
To me this is something that has been needed for a long time. They should have a timer that everyone gets when they first activate the entry gates toa plex so that you cannot enter the same complex again for 24 hours or better yet 48 hours. To me this is fair because it gives everyone a chance to run the plex.

Stuff like that gate activation makes it easier for people to do the complexes too, makes it less chance for PvP and risk.
When I was pirating in Ouelleta in Placid (or one of those crappy Gallente borderzones) I'd get countless kills in the 4/10 complex there.

problem is with complexes:
its all about who can log in first after downtime.
when you can only play between 18-22 eve-time you have ZERO chance to ever run a complex in this game! (ok, maybe the useless ones which dont drop loot).
Every decent complex is camped by people logging in 2x per day (or 1x when you could exploit some) and farming the complex and logging out again.

"I hope the devs realize they have to integrate the background as actual objects at some point in time - as it stands now i think the seamless map will actually make size less immersize than it already is due to the static background textures."
I want Ysaneya do the backdrop renders :/
