they are actually that expensive because only a few corps/alliances/people heheheh.. can actually build them which means they can raise the price all they want, and people do still buy them which makes it even better. AND no one can get to get the BPO's because alliances and the likes protect them and no one can get to them.
Put it this way, if individuals stop buying them.. then the alliances and whatever than can actually build them will be the only people flying them and giving us all the finger. But yeah, I don't buy them because they are so damn expensive either.. go for combat recon, they are slightly cheaper...

Most likely not. It's just that most of the players are actually playing caldari, in caldari space and doing missions in their Cerberus'es.
This is the way it is with all of the ships. We have just as many Cerberus BPO's as we have Zealots, but there are lot more Caldari pilots out there. None of the BPO's are balanced in accordance to demand, and therefore the whole supply vs. demand-fight is pretty loopsided...
ah well. I won't buy a Cerberus or Vagabond at least. Still hoping for some more BPO's and reverse engineering to make the market in EVE a bit more sane some day.

IŠm a patient man and can wait for Revelations were the prices truly shpuld drop like hell or I`m going to build one by myself.

More like because only a few people who didn't do anything to deserve free money for life and the ultra wealthy who can buy BPOs are allowed to manufacture them.

Nobody rly uses HACs anymore in pvp anyways.
Exceptions: Eagles cause they have kept the prices reasonable.
Cerbs cause there is no alternative the Nighthawk being so useless (to be fixed when the new Caldari tier 2 BC comes out)
Vagas cause they are unique (might be fixed with tier 2 BC)
Also Kali brings some changes to scientific carebearing that will probably also help.

That, and the fact that there are a lot more people playing this game than when they first came out = too much demand, too little supply.
The priciest are the ones that people claim are "uber" like the Vaga and Ishtar, or the ones that are used by mission runners who want to stand out from the crowd (Cerberus).
I haven't bought one since the early days (when Ishtars were 45m!). Or well, I did buy a Vagabond for 220m to try out... sold it for 270m less than two weeks later.
I'll be waiting for Kali to see if the prices change before I buy another.

I'd love it if everyone stopped buying hacs. Then I could pick up a few. However, you seem to be making the assumption that the HAC producers are ripping you off. No, they're not. The price is high, because that's what people are prepared to pay. As more become prepared to pay ludicrous amounts, the price escalates higher still.
Ships are where it's most obvious, as there's no real T1 alternative. The modules where T2 is 'better' than T1 spike in price. Those where there's a T1 that's as good, are pricey, but fairly stable.
*shrug* T2 is an edge, but it's not essential. Well, except in the case of covert ships, interdictors or T2 guns.

Edited by: Alex Harumichi on 26/09/2006 08:30:21 Edited by: Alex Harumichi on 26/09/2006 08:28:06 Well, the alternative is to go for the less popular (and yes, sometimes this means "less good") t2 ships. Eagles are still reasonable in many places, as are Sacreliges and Munnins. In any category, if you avoid the "best ship" bandwagon you can find some other almost-as-good ships, which can work very well if you spend some time on the skills and fittings.
Going for command ships is another path, though that takes serious skill training.
I'm a big fan of the Lachesis nowadays. Cheap, solid pvp ship that's absolutely evil in a small gang. Rooks & Falcons cost 3x more. Are they 3x better? Hell no.

Given how much those BPOs sell for, I don't think they could lower the price if they wanted to.
If you layed out a few bil with a zero tacked on the end, you can't be lowering prices to anywhere near a reasonable level.
Invention will be interesting. Either it will lower prices, or it will let ppl that do science get a whole heck of a lot of money.

Thats sort of true. By a cerb or vaga BPO for 70bil (thats cheap i think) and you'd need to sell 280 @ 250mil each to make that isk back. At 5 per week your talking 56 weeks to pay back the BPO.
Almost a 1 year old player here and i've not even bothered training for HAC's yet. Lets see how Invention changes things, might actually bother with them after kali. -----

QFT.
The devs have stated that they wont give the HAC builders extra skills to increase supply. So I can imagine it will get worse before it gets 'better'. People said that when T2 BCs came that HAC prices were going to drop. they didnt. And people believe with the onset of Kali s Invention ( assuming it happens) that HAC prices will drop. I seriously doubt that the price fall will be that significant in the short term.
Any way back to doing stuff.

Edited by: Spaced Skunk on 26/09/2006 11:31:58 I am not suprised people use stabs on there vagabond's tbh at 270-300M, and you have my word I wont buy one till the price sits around 100M again. Vagabonds die to easily tbh to be that price.
The lottery system CCP implemented was silly to start with in my opinion. In Kali I hope to see more t2 blueprints. I wouldnt mind seeing them seeded.
[EDIT] When I lose my current Vagabond that is :D

Dont know where you get your sources but they are still easily sold for 300M.
I sell Vagabond at 300M a ship. 100M deposit, you can pay me 200M on escrow when you collect them. Not negotiable. --------- Cruelty is God's way of showing kindness and God is kind.

You can always try joining a corp/alliance that produces hacs you are interested in flying.. good luck with that. It may be about the only way you get a hac at a low price.
I buy cerebus's from one guy, because he has a good reputation with peeps I know/trust and comes highly recommended.
You can sometimes find such folks by asking around, make friends with folks who produce t2 ship components and see if you can't find out who they supply to.
failing those options you can jump in a command ship and have as much fun really.
Just my opinion, flame away

The problems is not with HAC builders. There are only so many bpo's and they an't make hacs any faster than 1 every 36 hours even if they wanted to.
THE FAULT IS CCP's. Repeat after me. THE FAULT IS CCP's. They're the ones who had the great idea to release a limited number of bpos randomly. They're the ones who have NEVER increased the supply of available bpos even though the player base has grown gigantically.
Officer and factions ships and mods are the rare items you can only get if you're very lucky or buy them from another player. You find a faction spawn and get a pirate implant or get a faction bpc you feel lucky and have a sense of accomplishment.
T2 ITEMS SHOULD NOT BE RARE. If I spend 2 months to train for a ******* HAC I should be able to buy a ******* HAC. If I want to hunt down rare and flashy items and show 1337 I am that's what faction stuff is for.
It's not the producers fault. There are only so many BPO's. And they're going to take care of their needs and their corpies and alliance mates first. Fact of life. I remember when Khatred put hacs for sale at a reasonable price. People would immediately buy them up and put them back on the market at an increased price. The demand is much higher than the supply. AND CCP HAS NEVER ADDRESSED THE SUPPLY. I'm typing in caps for a reason. I'm ****ed at the situation.
I'm a cruiser pilot. I hate flying a bs. I'd much rather fly the neat HACS and Command Ships. It's my preference and those are the ships I may my couple bucks a month to play. I stopped buying HACs a year ago because I got priced out of the market. At the rate I lose ships I can't afford to keep replacing HACs. This is a game. I shouldn't have to worry about being priced out of the market for my favorite ships.
If I thought it would make a difference I'd encourage everyone to file a petition to CCP everyday that HAC prices are too high and supply is too low. If I thought CCP woukld do anything about the situation and not just ban people.
The last time I got riled up about this very issue I haunted every HAC price thread and did my best to keep them all on the front page for days til CCP announced in a dev blog that reverse engineering would help ease the supply problems. Well it's several months later, I have no clue when Kali is being released and I still can't afford to buy a ******* zealot. T2 market in this game is one of the most frustrating and boneheaded things about Eve. Remove the stupid t2 BPO lottery system and remove the frustration of POS warfare and this game would be so much more enjoyable.
