Yeah, reset EVE.
It would be cool if we had the ability to anchor PoSes on day 2 and not have the ability to kill them until day 450. "I got there first, Its mine forever" is a fantastic system for territorial control.

The thing that would be cool about a reset is then those of us that weren't smart enough to get in on the ground floor would have a second chance.
I really wish I had been around in the beginning, when EVE was just getting started. I'm not complaining about skill points or anything, it just would have been cool to have been involved in the early history.

The game released in May of '03.
It wasnt ready for release until December '03.
Theres a reason why population was initially so low.

It was a nightmare doing that once, I would NOT do it again.
Everybody in a rookie frigate with 2k isk, civilian gatling and civilian miner. Do you know how long it takes to build a market with that? Every piece of tritanium has to be mined in FRIGATES, since it will be probably a month before anybody can afford a Cruiser BPO. 4k bounty rats don't make much isk either.
And you want a better frigate? GOOD LUCK! Few people will be building them, and they will be pretty expensive. I think I had to go 25 jumps to get a Probe for 500k, Rifters were around 1.5mil. Not too hard you say? It is if almost all minerals sell for under .5 isk, the only good one to sell for a time was Zydrine at 10-15isk. The only way to make money was to buy up minerals at absurdly low prices all day, then get in within the first 10 minutes after downtime when the NPC buy orders reset.
Nope, defintely don't want to see a reset. I still don't remember how I managed to get the isk together to even start this corp so early, and I do NOT want to give it up.
Speaking of corps, I should contact the current CEO of 3M and see if it's still active at all.

There would be a ton of isk in-game very quickly with the current game mechanics. Mine up minerals for a couple frigates, go to 0.0 and chain battleship spawns.
Unlike 2003, there is a massive amount of isk influx into EVE, even with frigates. Isk buys BPOs which allows more mining which expands the mineral base and allows for a market. What took months to do at release would only be a week or two, tops, now.

Kill the secure cans, sure. I personally reset my account every so often because I want to take things in a different direction, but that's just me. Not many veterans take that approach. Eve is based on building up power bases over the course of years, not a few frantic months of grinding followed by an endgame. That was made explicitly clear from the beginning, and I know that many of today's players weren't around back then to hear it. Sorry, but that's what the game revolves around.
Remember that success is what happens when preparedness meets opportunity. It's not always the big guys who are prepared who get that opportunity. Someone who doesn't have an empire to shape might have the edge when opportunities arise. Some who were counted as down and out successfully transitioned back to being on top again, others weren't able to do so. There are no "winners" in Eve unless you mean in terms of who has fun and who does not. There is no "endgame." There is definitely a stratification of society, but there is also enough movement between levels to ensure that opportunities will come to those who have patience and are willing to be team players.

Honestly I would try a few trials on other games before deciding what to do with my sub money. After all if I had to start from scratch why not do it somewhere else?
I certainly don't have the time to play two MMOs. If CCP ever did this I would have to ask myself if there is a point starting over with the chance it could all vanish into the aether again. This ain't Counterstrike after all.
Luckily I don't think this will ever happen.

Ok, let's say you saving that extra income to buy that nice car you dream about. Now let's say, let's just say that the bank calls you after 3 years of savings "hey, we just reseted your bank account, it's at 0.0 now", we just thought we give the chance to everyone start over again. Have a pleasant day.

The idea isn't new to MMO games tho.
In Shattered Galaxy there is a bi-monthly [or so] wipe of all characters that you can voluntarily sign into. As a bonus you will get higher starting stats every time and some uber-exclusive bonus items [that you can *ONLY* get thru getting reset] so basicly your base stats become better each reset.
Altho I don't think such a system will work for EvE, and a lot of people will leave if they ever do... :o _______________________________________________________________________

I know I would quit Eve and ask my money back if that happened, maybe start playing WoW after all. It cost me a lot of money and time to get my characters to where they are now.
I don't think it would take as long to rebuild though, we now have more skills available to make things easier. Also agent missions will supply you with new frigates and cruisers eventually (probably faster then getting the BPO).
T2 lottery's would be a bit useless though, as noone would be able to build (let alone fly) those things. Also it would get quite busy in empire as noone would probably go into 0.0 in a frigate...

The general idea of the post is quite ludicrous, but the comments of "Asking for my money back" is equally silly.
I've only been here a month. I would not want a reset either.

If the main server was reset, I'd do the following.
Buy a shotgun. Fly to Iceland. Massacre the Devs :)
Seriously though, I'd kinda like to see something like a third server setup, preferably running the release build. Just so all the people who have only been playing a short while can see what it was like and how far the game has come. Might stop some of the whines on the forums too :)

I, for one, would be rather unhappy if EVE was reset. I've been playing for two years and some change, and it's only in the last year or so that I've truly blossomed into what I wanted to be in EVE. I can now do almost all of those things I've wanted to do since the game started, and I would hate to have start over again; in fact, I would rather just cancel my account. I'm happy with where I am and where I'm going; it took me a while to get here, but now that I've arrived it's badass. -Wrayeth

Better idea: Make a second server which starts from scratch.
Dont wanna restart your character on tranq? no problem since your playing on a new server and the data on tranq remains in tranq.
1 fee per month
2 servers to play on
and 1 test server.
Sounds peachy.

The main reason why (if) I could say yes to a reset would be that it would allow CCP to make some sweeking changes that are badly needed and should have been made long ago.
Like removing the ability to have alts and increasing the role of standings, and changing npc corps to be less viable.

I'm sorry there is a slight flaw with that one. One week newbies have great difficulty taking out 0.7 rats let alone 0.0 BS spawns. In fact I doubt many 2003 players can take 0.0 BS in a frig - they just don't have the tank for it.
"What took months to do at release would only be a week or two, tops, now." because newer players have the opportunity to join established corps containing experienced players who take them ratting/mining areas and train them up while helping them to make isk.
As for the massive isk influx, from where? Thin air? If everyone is at mining 1 then not much is being mined, money is not being made and bpos are not bought. Besides people will be mission grinding for skill book money anyway.

... not to mention all the ship changes that needs be cleared, damage type distribution, racial concept cleaning, and more. Oh oh oh, and factional warfare that means something - you'll have to join a player corp eventually to escape PvP since nooby corps will kick you out to a patriot corp, and all patriot corps are at war with their factions racial enemy...
In short, restarting EVE would have mean making EVE2, since the alterations would be fundamental beyond content additions - it would have to affect the very foundations for game play.
Otherwise it is as has been said. The older players do not have a 1-2 year advantage, we have a 1-2 year broadening of our skills. This means that a one-year-old can easily compete and beat me (I'm Intaki, my perception sucks) at flying HACs, but a one-year old can't fly all kinds of T2 ships the way I can. That is an advantage of choice, not an advantage in flight - it simply won't matter when we meet in space since I'm limited to the ship I am currently flying. - Three years old |

Dear CCP, please reset the server.
Once it has been reset it would be great if you could Refund everyone their monthly subscriptions too as our money has been invested in the game development not too mention personal character development.
I know this sounds like a strange request but i forgot to take my medicine this morning and well im not thinking striaght, my doctor says its because i am to hyperactive and cannot stop bashing myself against my padded white walls.
I do hope you implement this rollback, i would really like to buy a new straight jacket with the money that is refunded.

I'm only a year old, and I'm a mean, lean, ass kicking machine, who can duel with the best of them.
When you're a month old, the difference between 1 million SP or not is the difference between being able to do something at all or not. When you've topped off your first 5million SP, you'll hardly notice them any more. Hence why we all lubs EVE. A 6 month old character can kick just as much ass as a 3 year old character, as long as they're good.
