Please, don't tell me that Rokh is for Caldari. Rokh is for Gallente(as usual, they get best equipment i the game). Above everage Gallete pilot requires up to 10 days to get Rokh(Caldari BS 3-4 lvl - thats all Gallente need to catch best Caldari BS). Above average Caldari pilot requires at least 90-110 days to get Rokh. In fact Caldari may with the same level of success jump any other BS, even Amarr's. Add few weeks for average armour tanking - that's all.
Why Gallente will get TWO tier3 BS, Amarr and Minmatars ONE tier3 BS and Caldari ZERO?
Notice, that whole missile branch(the native Caldari weapon) is becoming pure crap. Missile HAC(one) - for PvE only, missile AF - pitiful, missile Command Ship - nonsense, missile BS - only good old Raven.

Railguns were the "native caldari weapon" long before missiles were changed about so they could start to be a primary weapon system.
Likewise there have always been hybrid based caldari ships (Merlin -> Moa -> Ferox)
If you trained solely for missiles you already have a good ship in the Raven, the Rokh is for those who have been wanting a caldari railgun battleship for the last three years. . ----- Apologies for any rambling that may have just occurred.

What are you talking about ?
As a Caldari with more skillpoints in rails than in missiles, and after looking really long and hard at the Caldari ships, I can say a Tier-3 rail-BS for the Caldari race is not out of place, we have a mix of rails, missile and ECM ships at every level except at the BS one ...
Also, if missiles are becoming pure crap, why do we see so many missile boats around, and even a few RAIL ships (Ferox ...) with missile setups ?
Maybe because they are good, even a bit too good considering the skillpoints needed to be effictive with missiles ?

How could you design a missile BS ship to out raven the Raven?
Moreover youÆre ignoring the entire line of often ignored Caldari hybrid platforms: Merlin, Harpy, Cormorant, Moa, Eagle, (Ferox), Vulture. WhatÆs missing from this line up is a Hybrid based BS. Im just hopping that it isnt too crippled with a split missile/turret hardpoint set up, and has a reasonable drone bay.

I think he's trying to say that no Caldari have large rails trained.
He's wrong. I've had them trained ever since I started to fly a scorpion, nearly three years ago.
And there's a lot of caldari pilots who already have T2 medium rails (helloo...harpy, moa, eagle...), so they'd only need to train a couple of skills in order to get the large ones. ------------------------------------------- "Never underestimate the power of language."

Return to reality, dudes. It is not story about Eve world history.
Railgun is Caldari weapon only theoretically. They do not have GOOD railgun ships. No BS, Ferox is used as missile boat(surprise, surprise), commands, Moa is just suxx. Only exception - Harpy. Who will train full LARGE railgun branch to fly Harpy? Only full idiot.
So, all Caldari with brain are specializing only in missiles. It is ONLY RELIABLE weapon for Caldari.
Now Tux gives to these pilots tier 3 BS with railgun weapon. Thank you, Tux, but mor honest is to put this ship to Gallente, because Gallente will have now TWO tier3 BS: one for short range, second for sniping. Just wonderful.
P.S. Go-go to marker to buy Gallente char!

So all those gallente characters with Gall. BS 5 are gonna switch over? No. In its current state (unconfirmed bonuses iirc) it does less damage than the thron for a pointless optimal boost, I mean, with a standard T2 snipe setup, most people have an optimal of 203 or 211km with 30k falloff - that's higher than all the other long range BS guns in the game. Unless you like sniping 1v1 (with crap damage, no less), the rokh is pointless. Long live the thron

You really think gallente have it easier? You seem to be forgetting the fact that caldari almost have totally seperate ships for rails. Most of the gallente t1 ships are dual purpose, gaining damage from both hybrids and drones and as such require more skills to use effectively.
As caldari, you can simply train missiles (which, btw, take much less time to train to t2 large than the guns do), and fly all the caldari missile ships. Not our problem you decided to ignore your second (actually, your first) weapons platform in favour of the more effective one - it's like a gallente pilot complaining because he didn't train drones and now wants to fly a dominix

Now, if you actually trained up your gunnery skills a little higher than Small Hybrid lvl 1 you might actually come to find out that rails, on certain caldari ships aint so frikkin bad as you claim. Ofcourse, you would need an IQ of atleast 35+ to actually understand how to use them though.

It's so laughable seeing people complaine about ships. "Moa is crap bla bla bla, get caracal becouse it has missiles"
**** missiles i say, missiles are so lame and easy to use it's not even funny. Children are complaining becouse they somehow got killed in a Moa and couldn't destroy the enemy ship so they have to get a caracal and stay 50km from them.
And let's not even talk about Raven, it's the most ****tiest ship out there that has ever existed. Press i win button from 1-8 and the enemy is dead.. hurraay!!!

It's obvious that Zixxa is a n00b, so we shouldnt read to much into his wrighting. He's probably a PvE'r!
Eagle sux?? Probably one of the better Long Range HAC's in the game. Actually was awarded best ship on one of EvE tournaments. I have friends flying this thing, both PvP and PvE.
As far as Rail vs. Missiles... Yes, I'm a Caldari Pilot, yes, I got most my SP's in missiles, but Caldari need a Railgun BS. Zixxa, have you ever been to fleet battles?? Raven is usualy not counted as a fleet ship, as missiles are so slow, while all other guns are "insta-impact". If you have missiles incomming, you just warp out, and warp back in :D As for the Scorpion, not realy worth to try making this a rail boat, as you gonna be called primary before you can say COOKIE, cause they expect you to be loaded with nast EW, and nobody likes EW on the other side of the field.
So even tho I can't use Rails worth a damn, I'm happy that those who can get the ship they been waiting for!

Erm, no. Plenty of Caldari ships use rails, there's no theory about it; 100% FACT.
Originally by: Zixxa They do not have GOOD railgun ships. No BS, Ferox is used as missile boat(surprise, surprise), commands, Moa is just suxx. Only exception - Harpy. Who will train full LARGE railgun branch to fly Harpy? Only full idiot.
You're right there is no rail BS, that's why we're getting one .
I use the ferox as a rail platform quite often sucessfully. It's basically a 1/5th price Eagle with 2/3 of the range but same damage output...
The Harpy is arguably one of the best assaul frigates. The moa makes a nice cheap rail platform for support damage in gangs.
Originally by: Zixxa So, all Caldari with brain are specializing only in missiles. It is ONLY RELIABLE weapon for Caldari.
Well no...rail guns are extremely reliable on Caldari rail ships. Such as the new tier 3 BS for example.

Yes a lot of Gallente players will be able to train BS to 4 quickly and have a good sniper platform. But a lot of Gallente players use blasters since this is what Gallente ships are designed for. A lot of Gallente ships lack the powergrid to fit rails effectively, and therefore a lot of Gallente players wont have T2 rail skills trained.

Well, first of all it's an ugly box design, typical for Caldari. To say it's Gallente is a gross insult to all Gallente.
Second of all, it does go on Caldari Battleship skill. And to fly it properly you need it at at least 4, if you haven't got any pride, that is. But let's examine how long this will take to train... Caldari Frig about 2 days, Caldari Cruiser about 5 days, and Caldari Battleship 8 days for a grand total of... 15 days. A bit above Zixxa's estimate of 10 days for sure. Now, let's examine how long it takes a Caldari pilot to train for it. Large Hybrid Turret to 5 takes about 25 days. Any respectable Caldari pilot will have Med Rail Spec 4 with Sharpshooting 5 already. So, it'll take a Caldari pilot about 10 more days than a Gallente pilot. Right. But Kali isn't due for another 25 or so days, so let's examine that for when Kali is released instead. Gallente 15 days or more(*), cause we don't really want to fly that ugly sod Caldari already done cause any selfrespecting Caldari pilot with ambition to fly it will have his skills ready.
As for missile ships being crap, well I'm sorry if you don't want to train skills to max and then think a bit outside the box.
(*) Seriously, aside from Pottsey, do you think a Gallente pilot has his shield skills maxed out? - Three years old |

Yes, the Eagle sux, it's hands down the worst HAC and isn't even impressive as a sniper (and I've been on both sides of the fence with this). It was once good in a tournament because of... crystal implants. It's easy to fix though, like the Moa, it only needs a 5th turret slot.
The only decent gunship for Caldari is the Harpy. I have large rails speceialized (and large blasters too...) so I hope Tux doesn't screw the Rokh.

Last I knew it took less than 10 days to train up to large hybrid turrets and decent support skills. All you need is gunnery 5 and lvl3 in the other skills to be able to properly use them.
You know you don't HAVE to use T2 or have everything at lvl5... Imho specialization and smart are mutually exclusive. If you train something like cruise spec 5 before large hybrid turret 1, your training is extremely inefficient. I'm a missile specced caldari pilot. I'll be training hybrids as a next priority, because I want to fly the Rohk. 70 days to Large Railgun spec I. Yes, my gunnery skills are that bad. No, that's fine, now I've got a BS grade rail platform, I'm a happy happy bunny. Especially with it's shield resists. I was actually expecting it not to get 8 turrets, and even with a 6/4 turret/missile split, I'd have been happy.
I focussed on missiles, because there was no caldari rail battleship. Now there is. IMO it's 'about right' in terms of potential. Extremely long range (so longer anti-matter optimals) and a good solid tank.
And looks cool.

Quote: i know what you meant, starting from 150k in gunnery to large railgun specialization and every gunnery skill at level 4 or 5. then - if you draw that comparison, add the shield tanking and missile skills to the gallente skilltree, too.
For shield tanking required at most 600k skills. But Rokh could fly without shield tank. Just deadly ECM/armour tanked.

Truth. Missile boat sucks in PvP. So, you are agree, that Rokh is not Caldari, but for the Gallente.

Again. Nighthawk was total crap before patch, nighthawk will be WORST command ship after patch. WORST! It still lacks raw dps. Cerberus is missile boat and "missile boats suck at pvp most of the time."

What? No really, what? Because YOU didn't train hybrid skills you're now whining about the Rokh? Would you want an even better Raven? For missiles, our Tier2 BS is top of the line, maybe even over the top. The Raven is at the very top of the food chain, only few current BS can rival it in a straight 1on1 and she's the undisputed queen of PvE. You want something even better?? Bah. Don't get me wrong, I'm heavily missile specced as well, but I'm really looking forward to the Drake (missileboat btw, Caldari are Rails AND Missiles and we get ONE of each with kali) and the Rokh. So I need to work on my gunnery skills fow a while... so? I'm currently also training for Minnie BS and projectiles, because I think Minnie ships are fun to fly. Noone forces me, I just train what I want to. Don't like hybrids? Don't like the new BS? Then simply don't train for it and don't use it.
Btw, the other races BS are hardly gonna be 'overpowered', they wont shove the Raven in a dark corner in PvP. The Raven will still have a role and will still be powerful. Look at the current Tier1 BS, they still have roles, they're still flown and they can still go head to head with a Tier2 BS without being downright demolished.

Please, no joking. Merlin is crap. Get Kestrel Moa is crap. Get Caracal. Eagle is worst HAC in the game(see upcoming changes). Get Cerberus. Ferox is usually missile platform. Vulture is absolutely useless crap. So what about railguns for Caldari?
Merlin rocks. Moa rocks. Eagle, can't comment, never flown. Ferox downright rocks with whatever you slap on it. It's mostly used as a missile platform because launchers use less grid which in turn allows for an awesome tank. Vulture is a fleet command ship. It's not built to dish out, but to field gang mods and take a beating. And from the few I've seen in action so far I'd say the Vulture does her job pretty damn well.
Yes, all Caldari Railboats are currently a bit underpowered and could use at least 1 more turret hardpoint to give them a little more damage output, but to say they suck is just a plain lie. Look, for example, at the tank the railboats can field? Yeah, Caracal is nice and all, but a Moa can outtank it any day. Oh, the Moa can also reach weapon ranges in excess of 150km with the correct setup and T2 rails. Yes, it wont hit hard, but it's cheap, faster than a sniper BS and has a faster lock time.
Railboats aren't the easy way, and for PvE I've found them more often than not lacking, but they certainly don't suck.

Why Gallente, Minmatars and Amarrs get tier3 for freee, but Caldari for millions of skillpoints? To be good as Caldari you have to use Raven. Never talk about Caldari being skill heavy and Minmatar having it easy in a single post. Look at their Typhoon, needing missile, gunnery and drone skills. Then their BS are also split in armor AND shield tanks. Please, just stop complaining, be happy you get the Drake and ignore the Rokh.

Hmm, maybe I should open another thread for the poor gallentes that are drone-specced and get a tier 3 BS that is really for caldari since every caldari who has large hybrids trained up will get to use it faster?
I hate to break it to you, but every ship is for every player, regardless of race. If your training is too focused, thats your fault, not the game's or the devs'. Narrowmindedness 4tl.
The only real argument that might count is that there will be three market battleships for hybrid users while there is really only one for missile users. But imho the fix for that is not making the CNR obsolete with a missile-Rokh, but to give the Typhoon 5 or 6 missile slots. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! Just wrong.
I can be good as a Caldari Pilot without a Raven (I've not owned one for the past 10 months).
When I had a Raven, I was good in it with less than a million of SPs in missiles (but much more than that in Engineering, shield skills).
A time investment in skills is never useless, nor obsolete.
Granted, I don't do any PvP (I find that more boring than mining), I'm a mission runner, high sec based carebear that hasn't a clue about fleet combat, but I've learned a few things, among others that DPS is not the only factor in PvP ... tactics, teamplay and such play a bigger role than raw DPS.

"Dude", I backed up my points as well as you did, but ok, here goes. Merlin makes an excellent heavy tackler that just wont die. With built in resistances and a good slot layout it's definetly a great ship to have in the gang. For the Moa, see below, and for the Ferox... seriously, everyone knows it's a real fitting friendly ship, whatever you put on it, however stupid it may be on other ships, on the Ferox it'll just work.

480 damage per salvo, every 3.5 seconds at 152km optimal. Two of those at a gate will pop every frig and every industrial. And that for about 25m total investement for two sniper Moas compared to a Sniper BS 150-200m. Obviously, this ship must suck.
Yes, in a straight one vs one the Moa often is clearly underpowered because it doesn't have a damage bonus and because it has too few turret hardpoints. That however doesn't mean it doesn't have a role. ALL Caldari ships are pretty sucky when it comes to solo PvP (if you ignore ECM) since they have to sacrifice tank for tackling, since they're all slow and as agile as a pregnant cow. Still doesn't mean they suck, they just perform other roles than the standard 'MWD in range, web, scram and pound away'.

Useless when you're inside a Rokh, yes. As when you're in a shuttle, too. Obsolete ? Hardly.
Quote:
2. To get Rokh Caldari needs more than three months of training.
I'll need all of 10 seconds to click buy on the Market before climbing in a Rokh, Caldari BS at 3 is really fast to do, and all the new players rush to BS level anyway.
Now, flying it competently is another matter, but you don't need T2 guns to fly a ship, with Large Hybrid 3 and support skills at 3, something that takes maybe a couple of weeks, it will be good enough ... and will not need more than three months of training.
Quote:
3. Gallente will enter fleet battle on t2 equipped Rokh, but Caldari t1.
I highly doubt that, since they are already in T2 fitted Dominixes and Megathrons, that work pretty well, why would they cross-train to another tanking method just to have a range advantage while losing a damage advantage ?
Quote: I do not believe in this, it is Eve fundamentals.
Nope, fundamentally wrong.
Specialization is a myth spawned by the e-peen factor.
I have 33 millions of skillpoints, I'm not specialized, I can fly on every T1 ship except the Capital Ships plus a few T2 ships too, skills at 3 in every weapon systems (again, with a few skills at 5 for a few specs), and guess what ? I'm having FUN.
Of course, if all you see in this game is the competition, and if that is your idea of fun, we'll have to agree to disagree ...

1. I certainy will still use mine on my Raven for missions and small gang work. How does the Rokh make them useless and obsolete? 2. No it does not, read a few posts up... 3. Still better than entering fleet battles in a Raven I think...

Oh yes? I know a few more 'EVE-fundamentals':
1. You need 10 million SP to even begin to think about PvP 2. NPCs never scramble for more than 1 point. 3. Every lowsec system is camped by cutthroats and you will never make it in and out alive. 4. You need lvl5 in every relevant skill to be even remotely effective 5. There is an 'n' in turret 6. All devs have alts in BoB

Oooooooooh, I think I know ... eBay right ?
Even if you are talking about ISKs and ingame character sales, here's a secret for you : those prices are NOT the basement of eVe, and are NOT a reflection of how good the ships and skills are ... they are the prices some people are willing to pay to have a character without having to spend the months needed to make it yourself, it's a convenience factor more than anything else.

Obsolete.
2. To get Rokh Caldari needs more than three months of training.
I'll need all of 10 seconds to click buy on the Market before climbing in a Rokh, Caldari BS at 3 is really fast to do, and all the new players rush to BS level anyway.
Quote: Now, flying it competently is another matter, but you don't need T2 guns to fly a ship, with Large Hybrid 3 and support skills at 3, something that takes maybe a couple of weeks, it will be good enough ... and will not need more than three months of training.
You may fly without t2 guns and be live frags(as did Forsaken Empire pilots when crazy RAT decided to give few lessons). I am flying only with t2. And I will toast you.
Quote:
I highly doubt that, since they are already in T2 fitted Dominixes and Megathrons, that work pretty well, why would they cross-train to another tanking method just to have a range advantage while losing a damage advantage ?
Hmm, ever heard about armour tanked Ravens? No? Strange. It is real pain in the ass. So, think a bit more. Armour. Tanked. Rokh! Excellent. You win main prize.

Oh, no, yet again person i-dont-know-math.

Bla-bla-bla. Specialization is method to kill effectively.

Oh, e-peen?
Quote: I'm not specialized, I can fly on every T1 ship except the Capital Ships plus a few T2 ships too, skills at 3 in every weapon systems (again, with a few skills at 5 for a few specs), and guess what ? I'm having FUN.
Of course, if all you see in this game is the competition, and if that is your idea of fun, we'll have to agree to disagree ...
And specialized Tempest pilot(abour year training - 15kk skill) will trash you anytime anywhere. Do you understand now meaning of word specialization? It is BIG ADVANTAGE of Eve over other MMORPG, specialization gives chance for noob to beat vets pretty well.

A specialized pilot will do at best 10% more damage than a non-specialized one. Usually its more like 5%. That piddly amount will mean nothing whatsoever in a gang fight. If you only do 1v1s there might be some (still very little) merit in specialization. Missile skills obsolete because you fly a rail-ship ? Well, Gunnery, Missiles and Drones skills were made obsolete when the Freighters came out then ... by using your logic, when a new ship comes out, all the other ships magically cease to exist, and so their skills are obsolete ... right ?
Yes, I've heard about armor-tanked, mids filled with ECM Ravens, but if you would think a bit, you'll realise that armor tanking a ship with SHIELD resistances bonuses and less low slots than mids is a nightmare, and maybe a bad idea.
About your comment about trashing me, OF COURSE, I hate PvP so much that I won't even defend myself ... not that it matters, we're still playing a game, virtual word, pixels and all that ...

Word. I have over 6 mil gunnery points, fly Caldari and I'm actually planning to train for the Tron. It'll be cheaper than the Rokh and does equal of not more damage as well.

LOL! ...this is a joke thread right? right??
....well just incase I'll feed the troll!
Firstly Zixxa, POST WITH YOUR MAIN If this is your main, get some experience (of playing the game) before whinning on the forums
Secondly, Think how i felt when the raven lost its railgun bonus. For several YEARS I've wanted a caldari rail BS and its finally here! And this time its not a change, the missile king still lives.
Third Why are your missile skill points wasted? Wheres the raven going? did i miss something?
Fourth Caldari are not missiles only. my Eagle rocks thanks. I'd slap anyone who tried to swap its bonuses for missile ones. Its great for what it does, nothinging else snipes like it can. PS I fly vagabonds and Ishtars now too, but I'll happily take my eagle out when the circumstances fit.
Fith Tier 3 BS are not supposed to be "tier 2 plus" they are going to be slightly better all round: cap, shields, armour etc because thats the general progression. but in the same way that tier 2 is not just "tier 1 plus" these wont be. they'l each have their role I'm sure. Rokh is the caldari fleet damage dealer. the gallente have one already so the Hyperion is said to be close range blasters.
[Quote=Zixxa]Yes, also train for BBird and fly in fleet. To be good as caldari you have to fly Raven. And even with raven and maxed missile skills you rather has no chance to be good in fleet battle. But you will rock in small gang pvp.
....did you not just argue against your original point? ATM yes i agree the raven sucks in "fleet battle" but the rokh wont. and the raven will "rock in small gang pvp" as much as it always did....

Quote: Not enough dps == crap in Eve PvP. Period.
Come say that to my rook. When you cant lock ,move or warp and nossed and i use my crappy little guns on you all day im sure youll think differently.
The point is you dont NEED a raven to be 'good at caldari', a statement which is in itself flawed. I for one welcome the rokh, i want a rail boat. Missiles have advantages and disadvantages, the latter of which can be made up with rails (ie time to dmg, ammo size, explosion velocity etc)
One thing i dont see the Rokh as being is a gallente ship. Why should it? Its not geared for blasters drones and MWD, its geared for long range sniping with rails and shield tanking, thus a Caldari ship through and through. If you have somehow changed what caldari is then thats your loss but i dont care its more rokhs for me.
I also take umbrage do the idea that caldari rail boats suck. You obviously have no idea how fleet battles work and so lack the wisdom to effectively wield and eagle or harpy.
But all in all its a game, if your gonna **** and whinge about stuff the whole time you aint havin fun so go away, care factor zero.

Weird as it is, I complete my level 3 missions faster in my rail-Ferox than in my missile-Ferox ... my "average" skills mean that I do roughly the same damage with both weapon types, but the flight time of the missiles make the difference ...

Originally by: CKmobster Zixxa, have you ever been to fleet battles?? Raven is usualy not counted as a fleet ship, as missiles are so slow, while all other guns are "insta-impact".
Yes, and what? Every caldari pilots know this sad fact. Now we have BS less or more affordable for fleet combat. For price of 4-5kk skills. Why Gallente, Minmatars and Amarrs get tier3 for freee, but Caldari for millions of skillpoints? To be good as Caldari you have to use Raven. To use Raven well you have to invests many millions of skill into missile branch. ow this investment is obsolete and useless.
Zixxa, if you've been strictly training for missiles and haven't touched hybrids, then the Rokh isn't for you, enough said. Tux has designed this ship because Caldari do not have a rail boat. Nobody is making you train millions of skillpoints. It's not a Gallente ship, its Caldari. If a Gallente wants to train up Caldari BS to multispec, thats great. I am Minmatar, does that mean I have to stick with Minmatar ships because Caldari ships don't have projectile bonuses and aren't made from scrap metal and duct tape? I am multispecced into Caldari and will be training up larger hybrid skills for the Rokh. This is a decision I am choosing to make, you don't have to make the same decision I am, and as such, you have NO right to complain. Go fly a Raven with your Ub3r missile skills and stop complaining that you won't be flying one of the sexiest ships to be added to EVE.

Again. Nighthawk was total crap before patch, nighthawk will be WORST command ship after patch. WORST! It still lacks raw dps. Cerberus is missile boat and "missile boats suck at pvp most of the time."
How does 25% more dps to the Night Hawk make it the "WORST"? It will then be tanked as a rock, have better dps than a cerb (same dmg bonuses +1 launcher) and still be able to kill smaller ships, although not if they move really really fast. Only thing the NH will be worse at than the cerb will be range. I just can't wait (I think that post alone is proof enough that Zixxa has no idea what he/she/it is talking about) And the rokh is a pleasant new ship for those of us that are tired of flinging phallic symbols at others , but like shield tanking.

Hey, I got 12m sp in general and hybrid gunnery. I also got some of caldari BS lvl 5 trained.
Do I have a point? Nah, I just wanted to rub it in a bit.

please give it a drone bay so my skills are not totally wasted
12.9mill sp gunnery (hybrid and lasers)
13.2mill sp missiles
7.8mill sp drones
caldari bs 5
amarr bs 5
gallenti bs 5
now i will be able to have a cheap fleet setup using 350mm ll's with spike and still get over 200km takes about 100mill off the cost of fitting a fleet BS so i am happy

Also, if missiles are becoming pure crap, why do we see so many missile boats around, and even a few RAIL ships (Ferox ...) with missile setups ?
Maybe because they are good, even a bit too good considering the skillpoints needed to be effictive with missiles ?

Every race has 2 weapon types. I fly gallente ships and i had 2 choices, invest my skillpoints in hybrids or drones. I chose hybrids so i cant fly ships like the dominix, ishtar, vexor or ishkur to there full potential. If i wanted to fly these ships to there full potential i'd have to invest 3-5 mill in drone skills to get T2 heavy drones. Same goes for the caldari ships. If you want to use all of your races ships to there potential you have to train hybrids as well. Its nobody's fault but your own if you've only trained missiles and you have no right to whine about it.
Quote: Above everage Gallete pilot requires up to 10 days to get Rokh(Caldari BS 3-4 lvl - thats all Gallente need to catch best Caldari BS). Above average Caldari pilot requires at least 90-110 days to get Rokh.
Yeah but the gallente pilots also spent 90/100 days training for large hybrids. What were you training? If an above average gallente pilot wanted to fly a raven then they would have to spend months training for missiles.
Quote: Merlin is crap. Get Kestrel Moa is crap. Get Caracal. Eagle is worst HAC in the game
Riiight.... Merlin is one of the best t2 frigs in game and will easily beat a kessie if you know what you're doing. Cant coment on the moa/caracal cos i havent flown them enough but the eagle is not one of the worst hacs. Its an excellent sniper ship and is better then a deimos when fitted with blasters. (before upcoming changes at least)

the merlin is a T2 frig???? right. (And its a split weapon system "2 launchers, 2 turrets)
and while I disagree with the OP on the Rokh issue (its gona be awesome for caldari piolets)
I do agree pound for pound Caldari railboats just Suck at PvP Slow , low Dps, mid slot tanked, snipers. where practicly all PvP mods are mid slot mods and to stop anyone warping away you have to be under 20k's !!!!!!!

As far as the merlin, its a good t1 frig, the harpy is a good AF considering the whole class is generally pretty sucky...
The problem with the Eagle/Moa is common to *ALL* sniping cruisers, and the reason why the Muninn (which in theory is an artillery platform, soon-to-be-resolved grid issues aside) is most often used with Autos - cruisers dont have the DPS to kill stuff before it warps, and so sniping cruisers are inherently unsuited to antyhing but fleet support, and then it becomes tricky because they die so fast. Unless, that is, camping gates to kill frigates is something you consider a worthwile past-time.
Its also the reason why amarr cruisers are suffering right now - since the DPS and tracking of the guns got toned down a bit to be more inline with what a "midrange" gun should do, and the stacking nerf, ganking laser cruisers dont cut the butter as well as they used to, bringing to light all the weaknesses that were hidden before - when your advantage lies outside web range, cruisers end up sucking. It starts working again on Command Ships, but thats because field CCs do BS-level damage.
The Rokh on the other hand, while it wont have the zomgawesome alphastrike of minnie BS, or the dps of the sniperthron, will make a pretty good sniper thanks to the range it can hit at. The range bonus would be more useful if it wasnt for the equalizer hat is T2 ammo tho...
Certainly, itll be a much better fleet ship than the raven, one area where many caldari pilots feel their race is sorely lacking. Thankfully (or not, depending on how biased you are) unbonused EW doesent work at 425mm II + 50% range bonus + Spike ranges... ----------------

I'm not going to call you stupid.. I'm not going to say you are wrong.. I'm going to say simpley put.. You don't need to fly the Rohk.. if your skills are only viable for shield tanked missile boats, then only fly the shield tanked missile boats.
Unfortunately as caldari to fly all of their ships well, you must be spec'ed in everything well.. EW, Armor, Shield, Hybrids, Missiles & Drones.. ohh hang on.. every race has the same? Ever noticed there is a bunch of Gallente ships that require missiles, or a bunch of Amarr ships that need drone skills? Or Minmatar ships that require Armor Tanking? If you are a newer pilot and you don't have millions in each branch of skills which allows you to fly the ships well, just don't fly them. Your game will be no more gimped than anyone elses, sure your not spoiled for choice.. But I can't fly every ship available with T2 guns. Its a very small percentage of people in the player base who can.
I was annoyed as you when I had to fly Gallente to actually play large fleet sniper wars and my Raven was useless (I had abysmal EW skills so the Scorpion was out and EW wasn't the I-Win it is now). So I had to train Gallente and build my skills in Hybrids. It was a great choice .. it took probably a few months.. but it meant I opened the second part of the Caldari Tree.. the ships that use Hybrids. Training my EW opened the 3rd tree.
All that cross training payed off, I'm spoiled for choice in the way I fit the ship and they way I use the ship, I can choose to armour tank any of them, shield them, turn them into snipers or short range damage boats. So the the Rohk completes the tree, and makes all that training I have done pay off. While I agree 90 days is too long.. Everyone has either been through it.. or is planning it. If you dont want hybrids.. ignore the Rohk, the only effect it should have on your game is.. either Caldari/Guristas will have some new looking Rats or you will have Rohks on your killmails

No, it is fact. Highly specialized raven pilot(about one year or even less) is costs the same as vet with 30+kk skills separated in Amarr/Gallente/industry. Not such versatile, but costs the same. It is basement of Eve, dude.
Caldari pilots have complained forever for not having an active role in fleet combat because they use missiles. Now CCP give you a turret ship that allows you to compete in long range fleet battles almost immediately using tech 1 equipment. Now your mad because you specialized on one weapon system? So instead of starting to train to use this tech 3 BS or just keep specializing using the raven you want CCP to change the ship to fit you
Hmm should I just pity you or ignore you......

I agree, there both good. but a long way from "the best" for any kind of pvp, except maybe...fleet support
* shudders imaging a merlin in fleet battle....*
and the harpy is one of the few Caldari rail boats with a damage bonus! (none of the tech 1 rail boats have any)
where damage bonuses are universal.....range bonuses are purely situational

agreed again......but all caldari ships with bonuses to hybrid weapons are snipers...Mid slot tank sniper to be more precise......
other races have the abilty to get in a short range specalised ship and tank with low slots leaving mids free for ECM
hey im not a caldari whine fan...i like the race and it has its advantages just like all races....PvP just aint one....

Zixxa, you're also forgetting about the Cormmorant (7 turret, 1 launcher) which is a very good destroyer if not the best for anti-frig imo although I personally like the thrasher for my own uses . But I digress. Dps and Range are usually always a trade off (blasters vs rails). To say that all Caldari rail ships are pointless in using when they have a missile equivalent ship is in itself missing the point that missiles and rails are used differently. Missiles can hit out not as far as rails but still a ways out and do great damage but they give up the instant damage factor.

some have mentioned the lack of damage bonus on caldari ships... well, since our ships dont do low-slot tanking, we have the option of fitting more damage mods in there for damage... ofcouse, if the other races decides to screw tanking and go pure gank, we cant quite match that, but at that point, damage from sniping actually becomes useful (since they dont tank...)
Ofcourse... sniping when they can get away if they're over 20 km away, is still pretty worthless... thats why caldari blaster ships ftw! :D Sig pic too old... and lost the template during reformatting (doh!)
Goal: To blaster-fit every Caldari ship that has a turret slot.

Eagle sucks? Where the hell did you pick this up? Sig is not eve related
