Hey pilots.
Me and CCP Karkur, have been poking at the fitting window. Adding the ability to test fit with ships and modules you don't own and see effects of modules when active or overheated without undocking. In short a lite version of EFT/PYFA inside client.
Some of the information in the stats panel is just raw data and not very useful in context. For example Inertia Modifier might be more useful as an Align Time attribute, a combination of attributes to give you relevant information. A sort of a 0-60 mph. concept that can be easily understood without knowing anything about the engine under the bonnet or other tech of the car.
We are planning to add Alpha in the offence panel and more information for drone users.
It would be nice to get some feedback on what would be useful for you guys to have in the fitting stats and if we see some recurring patterns in your feedback we might implement your suggestions as a part of the feature set.
This projects is just a Skunkworks endeavor for now but hopefully it's to enter production SOON tm.

I'd add EHP for given common damage profiles: omni, weakest resist overall, weakest resist on primary tank, and certain common damage profiles such as 'laser' or 'hybrid,' though I acknowledge those are variably mixed. :x
Also, projections with links are lovely, but I see how that could be harder to implement. :x

Really looking forward to this feature. Align time should definitely be in there. Maybe a tooltip for the DPS stat to break down your damage in to types (just like resistances are displayed) also perhaps a Damage/Range curve would be useful for the newbros so they could visualise their optimal and falloff.

Hopefully you'll include the ability to actually switch modules on and off rather than having to online/offline them as you currently do. It's impossible to get an accurate picture of capacitor behavior with a MWD fitted when using the current fitting tool since you can only "turn off" the MWD by offlining it, which modifies the capacitor directly.
For the DPS estimate, let us pick which drones are counted instead of always using the biggest/most damaging ones. If I have a flight of ogres and a flight of warriors, I have to remove the ogres from my drone bay in order to see what the warriors are capable of.
If it's possible to clean up the capacitor simulation in general so that it's a bit more accurate (I haven't used EFT in a long time but there were several fittings where EFT's capacitor estimate was the correct one) then that would be excellent as well. |

Having a think about this some things have already been suggested, such as inertia to align time to take out some stats that are not immediately obvious as to what it effect, ot, keep the stats and show it under a tool tip when you hover over it?
One thing I would love is to be able to hover over items fitted or certain attributes and have a tool tip that shows skills that have an effect on it, so we could right click on the skill and add it to our queues so we can train specific skills just for that ship. It will also help identify skills for a fitting that may not be included in the usual mastery of the ship. |

Among other things, can we please have tank displayed in DPS for the highest value? No more messiong around with odd amounts for differing units of time.
Have you thought how you're gonna treat phased armour reppers?

Correct calculation of attributes for ammo, drones, probes and whatnot is a must. And it's not only when fitting a ship but also out in space when probes/drones are deployed. I am really tired of having to check stats on drones before I launch them or - what's worse - being forced to recall them into drone bay to see real stats with all my skills and ship's bonuses and running mods not just base numbers.

(Re-)Cloaking Delay Targeting Recalibration Time (time from un-cloaking until you can start to target) Effective Targeting time (frop box with typical ship types, please)

You could also stream line it just a bit more. If you didn't know what you where looking at it can be a really confusing window. I know that when newbros join my Corp I really have to explain the fitting window quiet a lot. |

In short, the idea is to cycle on module click idle / active / overload / offline (might have offline in a separate pattern) ONLY showing stats when the module is ACTIVE in the fitting window. We might put the state to active on fit (in the window) The fitting window module state is completely decoupled from the HUD, activating your autocannons in the fitting window will not blast a hole in the station or the object closest to you.

As stated above, the ability to ghost "fit" drugs and implants, just include the positive effects for simplicity. The ability to switch to an "all skills at V" character. The ability to view a linked list of required skills (simply a list of the skills that you can then r-click to train/view market details etc). It would also be nice to see tracking for turrets without having to go into the information window as you normally do with fitting. Also may be worth looking into being able to "over-fit", beyond the PG and CPU of the ship, this makes adjusting fits easier as you don't have to adapt the rest of the fitting every time you want to check if it would be worth the sacrifice of lower PG/CPU mods to fit larger guns or a bigger tank for example.

in this fitting tool I would like to be able to get a list of the skills I need and how far to train them for the ship and all of its modules and I would also like the option to edit my skills just in this ghost fitting to see how much they make a difference on the modules and the ship, this feature is something you can currently do in Pyfa and EFT. |

Thing is you cannot just go half way with this feature. Either you go full balls deep and give us functionalities we have in 3rd party tools or it will just become another stub of what it might have be but somebody wasn't ready to **** off few 3rd party slaves.
I said it long time ago, game client should be all that is needed to play and discover game world up to very specialized stuff like efficiencies of production or very custom tailored excells or meta or whatever. But of course 3rd party devs loving crowd always jumps in and cries 'oh no, poor 3rd party devs make community rich and awesome, you cannot take that away'.
I really hope ghost fitting will be more about fitting less about ghosts.

Having seen it at fanfest, you've done a good job on it so far.
Heres a few things
Will the fitting screen when it use's your modules and those that are ghost modules work from POS hangers, divisions and cargo hold.
Batch fitting of ships if you have the ships and parts.
Information for modules that you have fitted for things like timers, effect, strength etc when you roll over them.

Batch fitting is an awesome idea that has been requested by many and is high on our wish list

I've not seen the fanfest presentation, so (here's hoping) most of these are already there, but...
Turret range and tracking with tracking computers on (and scripts applied). Lock range and lock speed with sensor boosters on (and scripts applied). I'd like to see a "lock time on preset", or even better - a graph (we all love em, eh?) with lock times vs sig radius with several typical datapoints highlighted.
Drone speed. Sentry range and tracking with omni-link on and scripts applied (this would benefit the drone window as well)
Align time with your choice of prop mode on (Yeah, I still sometimes fly dual prop).
Missile explosion velocity and explosion radius.
Allow to set a "neut strength" on the cap, to see how long it lasts under extra pressure.
A slightly odd one: Setting two points on the capacitor to see how long it takes to restore it (say, you expect to exit a fight with your "optimal" capacitor at 30% and need to calculate how long will it take to regen/cap boost to jump cap, or what's the "worst case" if your were neuted to 0 in the fight).

A way to use the fitting window without the massive ship model in the middle, maybe a little collapse/minimize button to only have the stats visible. Screen real estate is already hard to come by, the fitting window makes it a bit more painful. We can live without it, but it would be a wonderful option to have. I love EVE for how much we can customize the interface, embrace that, not the other way around.
In any case it looks great! I post in the newbie forum section regularly and fitting can be a problem for many newcomers, especially if the first bit of advice we give is "go download this 3rd party app yesterday". More pertinent information, available in client, in a concise form will do more for new player retention than anything else IMO.
