Id like a cargo hold increase in last of the tier class industrials in each race to be able to haul atleast 8 to 10 cruiser class ships with expanders fitted. It could be the new mid range ships without having to introduce a new type.
Currently only the iteron V can haul more than 2 cruisers and would cost over 100mil in mods. Increasing the holds of industrials will cost less to haul more and probably be an incentive to flood the low sec market with ships/mods by small time traders maybe even miners.

Edited by: Andrue on 04/11/2006 15:10:05 No - that's what freighters are for IMO. I would like to see faction versions of Industrials though. Nothing too grandiose but an Amarr Navy Bestower with 10% bigger hold might be cool. Why should all the cool faction ships be combat ships?

Why do we need a mid range indy? If you want to move several large ships, then you need to use a freighter.

You wanted to make a post so that everyone could agree with you?
I'm with the others. The freighter already does what you're asking.

Huge indy/Medium freighters have been asked and debatted by the community for years. A post of 100 pages was in the idea board.
It was finally locked by a mod on the following idea : "Do you really expect no dev seen this 100 pages post ? If they not answered there is a reason, clicky".
I guess you better to forget your idea and buy a freighter and some friends to escort you...

Yes but it took a dozen nerf the stab threads til ccp decided to change it.

Could we get a Light Freighter?

So 1/10th the cost of a freighter, with 1/4th the cargo hold?
Doesn't make any sense.

Trust me on this, there were a lot more than a dozen "nerf stabs" threads. Hell, on some days there were a dozen different ones on page one.

re: the stabs discussion, a vocal minority can get whatver they want if they keep shouting long enough. earlier posts prove that people got bored of responding and just gave up. if you want to disagree with this, read the archives extensively first. i'm neither for or against the nerf.
onto cargo hold capacity, haven't you thought about using a carrier or a dread? nice cargo holds with expanders
while there is an argument for a level of ship that carries a bit more than an ittyV with local hulls, have a think about the game balance caused by the gap. Cargo expanders are worthwhile mods, people needing every last % for their IttyV setups. Industrials are so cheap, that if you have a 500k ship, you probably don't want to take the risk of transporting even 10m of goods there. Even insert latest lame gankers here will pop you in front of the sentries and run away laughing. If you've only got two cruisers, you'd fly one down, take a shuttle back, and fly the other down. With a mwd or ab, it'd probably still be faster too :).
So if you're not just talking about two cruisers, but about four, or eight, then you'd create a new class of ship which would remove the depth and breath of functions the current classes have. You'd turn them into the logistics ships of the 'moving stuff' classes, with other ships doing their job so well no-one would bother using them. And prices? Affordable? I'd be more inclined to give them a tenth of the cargo of a freighter for half the price, and *still* prevent them unloading in space.
Rid****, I can see *why* you'd like something. Expanding the last tier of industrials would do something, but at what price? and what realism? Look at your Itty, then look at a cruiser. How much bigger would it have to be to fit 8?! And at the price you've paid for it, how good should it be?
I'd like to hear your thoughts

A dozen.
Twelve.
Seriously folks, it's probably well above 1200 threads. The need for a midrange hauler has been beaten to death, just as the stabs have... I doubt that there's much of a difference in the influence that 500 threads has versus 1000.

Last i checked i cant fly them in high security and your be using a different class ship for a completely un-intended role.

Please you make it sound like anyone carrying over 5mil of goods is going to get a kamikaze rage raven pilot attack em.
20+ jumps can take a long time i dont want to do it 3 times just to get 2 ships might as well get rid of industrials altogether as they are to weak and flimsy using cruisers with expanders to carry small mods/minerals and industrial players just simply flying X amount of ships back and fourth a much safer and logical alternative in your opinion.

So if you're not just talking about two cruisers,
Not talkin about just 2 cruisers and maybe changing the size of just the last tier of industrial is a bad idea maybe creating a new industrial would be better i dont know but i do know if you can introduce a ship with 1milm3 hold and not ruin the "realism" you could do it with a smaller sized version.
Maybe with the new rigs coming in the next patch we might get something to compress ships packaging even more to fit into the industrials we already have or if not it might be another idea on improving hauling.

I'm 100% against bigger haulers (not including faction ones mind you, thats'a good idea), as it would just make mining ops easier, ore theieving easier, loot collecting easier (well, I jest, how often do you fill in about 5-7km3 on mission loot?). Saying that Amarr, Caldari and Min need their lvl 4 and 5 haulers.
However, smaller freighters I wouldn't mine seeing, say in the range of 100-200km3, but with the same limitations as freighters (cant pickup cans, only pickup/offload at stations etc), just need to lower the skills req's, or...have them as lvl 1 freighter and put normal freighers upto lvl 3 to use. Price of course would be reflective of cargo hold, could have a freighter carrying 100-200k3m for about...say...150 mil? 200?, rather than over a billion. Probably would see alot more of them in low sec as well, and it would be just pure sex for small industrial corps.

A poor mans freighter, 2-3 times the cargo of a transport but less than 1/4 that of a freighter. And without the 1 BILLION isk price tag.
This is a ship that is needed, buying a freighter is overkill for most peoples needs whereas current haulers just cant cope with the amount of stuff that needs moving about. Not to mention freighters being far too expencive for a ship that wont get fully utilised. (dreadnaughts for lvl3's anyone?)

To me it doesn't seem to make any sense that ship builders would be building ships for years that can hold 25000m3, and then all of a sudden decide that it is WAY too little, and make a ship that can hold 1000000m3 as the next step up.
"Well, my pickup can't quite fit haul my load, so I'm going to upgrade to a supertanker"
There should definately be some more graduation in the sizes.

If you make a class that's slightly larger than an industrial but smaller than freighter, then suddenly all the Itty V and T2 hauler pilots get the shaft....do you really want that?
Logistics SHOULD be difficult. The time investment in logistics is a serious cost in moving things. This is as it should be. I fly T1 and T2 haulers, and I know to bring the right ship for the job. And if you want to move multiple cruisers, hire a freighter.

Faction industrials sounds nice hows about hybrids as well like the macherial requires gallente and minmatar skills, maybe we could get an industrial with the speed of a prowler and the hold of a iteron V :D.

Couldnt of explained it better myself, like another poster said going from 30k m3 indy to a million m3 frieghter seems like a big leap wheres the gradual progression.
To get that sort of m3 you would need to pay 120-150mil or more. Gankers are more likely to kill you for the expanders alone! To get 20k m3 id need to invest in (assuming i have lvl 5 in industrial) local hull expanders just to fit 2 cruisers in and only the iteron V is capable of this.
Originally by: Daos Leghki If you make a class that's slightly larger than an industrial but smaller than freighter, then suddenly all the Itty V and T2 hauler pilots get the shaft....do you really want that?
Actually most t2 industrials have smaller cargo holds compared to their t1 counter parts what seperates them and makes good are their awesome resists. I think the rest of what you said is a slight exageration after all the wreath/sigil/badger/ity 1 are still being sold and they all have smaller holds than their bigger brothers.

Move the current Freighters maybe to Tier 2 and introduce a Tier 1 Freighter. Smaller capacity and cheaper then current ones but a little bit more agile and faster.

Dont we have transporters as middle indy atm? Shure its not the 70k m3 OP wants but you should make a difference between indies and frieghters.
Indies are like trailer-trucks compared to frieghters being the biggest cargo ships out there (those that can handle 500 containers)
With the transporter you can carry almost 3 cruisers in one slow go if fully fitted and skilled to the max. This should be more than enough, if you want to be a big time seller you should get a frieghtship aswell. . Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

I'm surprised people are being so unoriginal in this thread.
In this thread most people want the added cargo space so they can carry multiple ships at once. Others don't want the space because it would have unintended side effects, such as making mining ops easier/thieving easier.
So, don't change the capacity at all. Instead change the packaged size of cruisers/af's or whatever else people would like to carry a few more of. This fixes the exact issue without indirectly impacting any other issues (for the most part).
