I still love this idea, I prefer 'Idea 2' but both are really good. If we get a new Drone UI I think a new drone ship or 5 would be nice. Drones play a big part in EVE and yet have a really odd UI. I hope this gets done.

Expanding on the idea:
Attempting to launch Group-B while a Group-A is in space will automatically recall Group-A while launching Group-B drones as Group-A drones dock.
A drone group could have more than 5 drones in it. But the top of the list would be launched first, and dock on the ship in the same order.

Awesome idea, but better yet why they heck do they not make the UI user customizable, Honestly its one of only a handful of modern MMOs that have a static UI.
Nothing against CCP, but your user base can and would create far better UIs then you could ever dream up. Its not an insult its just a fact, this is why MMOs want their users to create their own UI.

Very good ideas and it would really help the situation we're in. The drone controls right now are so arcahic.
So CCP, if you're planning to make changes in drones anyway, why not implement these changes?

I love the idea of drones, I love drones, I use them as my personal minions... and they get crunched like a 'roid under a Hulk's hungry strippers...WHY!? Because the present UI is very difficult to navigate and uses up space like a sun going nova. This would be a welcome fix, and make my nightmare of drone control a pure dream.
You could even add that the button changes red as they take damage. Simply knowing they are under attack would help in redirecting them.
