I installed the latest Realtek Drivers R1.51 to see if they resolve the issue. They do not. Also tried again after yesterday's patch. Problem still exists.
The workaround of disabling all sound acceleration works fine for me

I disabled sound acceleration but it did not solve it for me. It is kind of unplayable atm as whenever NPCs show up I crash. Disabling sound entirely is not an acceptable option.

Its the same for me - i can only avoid crashing if i disable sound entirely.
Thank god im in trial mode only and i can assure you ccp wont see a penny from me until this is fixed.

Anyone that says this is only Realtek's problem is not understanding the headache we have gone through when it comes to getting ANY kinda answer from CCP about the problem..I still have an open ticket and 2 completely useless suggestions for fixing the problem. Until I found the answer on the forums for turning down the acceleration, nobody from ccp knew what was going on??? I understand they have a lot of stuff to do especially after installing this latest update, but they could at least tell us what they must have known. As for whether or not the hardware manufacturer or CCP fixes the problem, I dont care..as long as its fixed.
Good luck all

Using onboard sound and video cards for gaming will just lead to problems. X-mas is around the corner... pickup an Audigy 2 sound card.

I'm sorry but that last comment is just ignorant. While onboard video is nothing to write home about, onboard sound is actually quite good. I'm not going to debate if this is a CCP issue or a Realtek issue, but I have never had a problem like this with any other game, or with Eve before the revelations patch.
CCP if this is a Realtek driver issue, how about some advice on what we should be asking them. thanks.

The issue is occuring in many games and it is the Realtek driver. The solution is to disable the Realtek chipset and install a quality sound card or wait for Realtek to fix the problem. Not complain and call the developers names.
Anyone using this particular Realtek chipset is going to have problems. I've had to delay upgrading my computer with a new MOBO (ASUS M2N32-SLI Delux AM2 socket) until this is fixed or Asus moves up another revision and installs a different sound set.

That's YOUR assumption. That they knew. And it's a dumb one at that. There are way too many possible causes, including all the lies by Realtek to hide their bad chipset/driver.

Same Problem here, Realtek Sound Onboard. I played til yesterday without any problems, today my comp freeze if i wait some minutes in space or jump to some NPC-Pirates. Nothing changed on my comp, so that cant be really a realtek driver or the chip itself. now im playing 2 hours again, and it seems all ok. I tried new drivers but only disable sound helped me. Now i reinstalled DX9.0c and i can play...........dont know why DX9 had a problem since yesterday, but for me it works now.
Maybe it helps others too. (i hope so)

Based on reading this article, and having gone thru a minidump win-debug session with a corpmate for this issue (don't think it will work, as havn't heard back yet), and I ask you to try the following which MIGHT work?
Get hold of the latest Realtek HD drivers from the realtek website,
and roll your NVIDIA drivers back to the latest WHQL ones (or 78.xx as suggested in the above post).
Failing that, do a system check for the location of your latest minidump file (should be in a folder called minidump inside the windows folder itself, and named after the date the crash occurred). and also disable automatic restarts in the control panel: this will allow you to see the BSOD info, and is disabled by opening the control panel, selecting 'system' icon (assuming classic view), and then selecting the 'Advanced' tab, and under the system recovery option, deselecting automatic restarts in the pop-up. Make sure 'small' 64k dump is selected, or you will be there for ages whilst it wrotes a dump.
If you can upload that to a file server, and post a link here, some-one might be able to do a debug on it, and give you the results back, and perhaps help CCP track the issue down.

When I disabled hardware acceleration it works, sort of. At least no BSOD. But in the dmp-files one file is in every one Kmixer.sys
I did a search on the internet and found countless threads from other games and products that has problems with this file. So it might be a MS issue aswell as Realtek. Maybe some MS update was incompatible with Realtek? Or both. Who knows. Anyone else having this file in their dumps?

Its not the drivers , its not a microsoft update its something in revelation. If CCP wants the minidump file i have it .. but i they are not even answering here and last time i petitioned i got an autoreply.

Well yeah, to be honest I did not have this problem before Revelation. For me it is connected to starting the armor-repairer or be in the vicinity of someone that does. Be it NPC or PC.

Does armor rep'ing have a sound? Could it be related to Eve trying to play that specific sound?

Same problem here, Realtek HD audio on-board Asus P5W DH Deluxe, new Realtek drivers DID NOT fix the problem, Microsoft are useless at fixing anything unless it makes them money. I did not play Eve before Revelations (noob lol). so i cannot say whether the game crashed or not, turning sound off kills the atmosphere and the whole point of PAYING for something is being looked after as a valued customer. one or more of the parties involved in this (CCP, MS and Realtek) who we have all bought something off (maybe not first hand, on board audio and system builders etc.) all have earned money off us yet we have to suffer, to the person who thinks they are in close contact with Realtek why haven't they sorted it out yet? (I am now moaning at you because you deserve it after that comment and nobody else will answer our complaints)
somebody fix it! its not fun for us people! pvp is ruined if i want sound, reboot within seconds of exiting warp get a bad nam for 'running away' and get haf of my ship blown to bits when i dont fire back or use shields, its not on!
FIX IT SOMEBODY!

I'm having the exact same problem. I have an EVGA 680i Motherboard with Realtek HD Audio onboard and everytime a specific sound plays (I'm not sure which one but seems to occur in combat), I get a BSOD with a 'STOP: 0X0000007F' error. All other games on this machine run perfectly. I downloaded the latest drivers from the Realtek website but that didn't solve it. What the heck is going on here with Eve? I can play Eve for hours without any BSOD's as long as I disable sound. But that's not acceptable. I've posted messages on the EVGA forums with no answers so far.
