Yeah, I was pretty accurate about the subscribers:
Originally by: MMORPG Revelations Article 3
The numbers are reflected in their subscriber numbers. EVE disavows the industry trend of holding them close to the vest - or kilt as the case may be - and publicly flaunts them At Fanfest 2005, there were 74,869 subscribers and 13,140 trial accounts in the EVE Universe.
At Fanfest 2006, CCP counted 145,095 subscribers and 20,068 trial accounts.
200% increase in a year. Also the number of users online at peak times have gone from 15k to almost 30k in that year. So... they are doing good, to say the least.

Maybe you could say what is your problem? it's a bit vague as description "can't login". You could link to a thread, maybe summit a bug report with your log...
If so many people are in the game right now, maybe your issue is a little particular so you might need to help find what is affecting YOU. |

The numbers don't represent true figures.
In reality it's not new customers putting up those numbers, it's mainly excessive multiple accounts.. mainly being fueled by timecodes that are putting up those extreme percentage increases.
What would be more intresting, the amount of individual subscribers.. not account numbers.
I doubt very much though that ccp would ever share that one with us
On a personal note, my three and a half year old address book has started to light up with old guys i ain't seen log for a while.... along with there 2nd, 3rd and 4th accounts ______

I have posted in tech suport several times...I have petitioned...I have tryed every voodoo magic fix that people think of as have MANY other people with this problem.
We have recieved NO offical response on the subject...no reply to anyones petition with helpfull information, I hope you have no similar problem as I was under the impression that CCP had a good customer service system, I repeat I am shocked at how little help we are getting on this.
If they are working on the problem they havn't let anyone know, so forgive me if I find the prospect of celebrating how many people are playing the game depressing as I and hundreds of others cannot even login.
Check the Tech support forums for the posts relating to this . You will see the frustration,

The problem is that the login screen hangs on checking status, or alternatively once a hour I may get to loading bulk data dialogue and it will hang there and eventually timeout.
I have tryed deleting cache, I downloaded the full client from scratch and reinstalled after doing a regsitry clean just to try to rule that out but still no success.
I was able to login yesterday for a while but the problem has since came back today.
I understand if this is patch related and am happy to wait out the problem if its being looked into but yesterday when mayn people posted of their login problems there was no official word that it might be looked into etc

during the "geting bulk data" thing you are downloading the static data. any packet losses might disrupt this pocess and cause it to hang. this sounds very much like an isp issue.
press start press run type cmd type "ping 87.237.38.200"
whats your average ping time and did you lose any of the packets from the 4 ping requests ?

The problem is that the login screen hangs on checking status, or alternatively once a hour I may get to loading bulk data dialogue and it will hang there and eventually timeout.
I have tryed deleting cache, I downloaded the full client from scratch and reinstalled after doing a regsitry clean just to try to rule that out but still no success.
I was able to login yesterday for a while but the problem has since came back today.
I understand if this is patch related and am happy to wait out the problem if its being looked into but yesterday when mayn people posted of their login problems there was no official word that it might be looked into etc
Thank you for taking the time to consider the problem.
this sounds very much like an isp issue.
press start press run type cmd type "ping 87.237.38.200"
whats your average ping time and did you lose any of the packets from the 4 ping requests ?

Connection seems ok, my problem seems to be related to this thread > http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=424934

Another old friend! Hi Kylania!
I appreciate that it's not everywhere. =P But I don't like it being where I am. Maybe if they pushed it all the way south where only 1 person lives in those 200 0.0 systems, then we could all get along. Lag whiners and non-lag whiners alike.

I'm sure for those not in Empire space it was ok, however for most in Empire space it wasn't all roses. Still Empire, esp agents, are too thinly spread and it about time CCP looked at this issue since I'm sure a in depth analysis of certain regions won't show a magical 47% load esp in my eyes if you count the annoying traffic control queuing system. ----------- I put on my space suit, sat on the hull and threw my line over the side.....4 hrs later I realised fish can't breath in space. |

Edited by: Prellius on 04/12/2006 10:13:35 Yesterday game was terribly going nuts after ~28-29k people. I wisited Jita with 640 ish people in local, docked to 2 stations for shopping, got black screen after each undocking attempt and CTRL+Q'ed both times, sadly ended up #44 on log-in queue. But we all know about Jita lag, no news here. Wonder why not helping new investments, those uber Blade computers ?
After that returned to (Citadel) and from there went to(2 jumps away). First local was around 130 people and second local was about 30-35. So, population in those areas as usual.
These 2 jumps and docking attempt took my 30+ minutes, maybe more. Waiting on first gate on "Jumping" status for 10 minutes, second gate same status about 15 minutes and "Docking" status about 10 minutes. (population was top around 32k people). I'm not telling some other weird stuff like warping to the gate/station 3 times, ship going back and forth uncontrolled, game freezing a-few times, trying to log-in again on the queue, and lastly can't disband gang because of some node death or something.
That's it. Basically your reports about CPU load or server stability have no meaning for me. I believe what I see and I see servers can't handle more than 29k people. Disabling trial accounts for better game play of paying customers anyone ?
BTW, my connection was OK and game was running OK after 1 hour, when server population was normal (29k).

As has been pointed out, last night wasn't that glorious a record at all. The reason was that we had in total of 19 node deaths after the peak, which after investigation is involving bugs causing performance problems before they eventually crash, not actual performance problems due to a lot of people. The amount of simply people make it more likely to that the loops of death start without the nodes being able to recover.
All hands are on deck getting TQ into shape. As people have stated here, TQ around 25K is quite nice except for the congested solar system (That's you people in Jita), which we'll also address in addition to the crash bugs.

Edited by: Natasha Starlight on 04/12/2006 11:48:53 Sharkbait. Myself and others are having a different issue regarding not being able to log in. I have downloaded a fresh client and patched the old one both to no avail. The Eve client will crash after the Revelations splash screen. I won't even see the login screen. I have run the Log server and it says the following:

In addition, I have bug reported it with more detail including DxDiag output. Others have reported the same issue in the patch thread. For my part I have tried all of the obvious things. Updating every system driver, disabling AV software, disabling firewalls, traceroutes, Eve reinstalls etc. etc, all without success. I can provide more information if so require.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Or perhaps you could look ahead and treat trials as actual people, since they're the EVE Players of tomorrow. :)
Perhaps you shouldn't stick around Jita during that kind of a mess, as the hardware is known to have issues with so many people. I was out in 0.0, with zero lag even with fifty or sixty people in a system during the height of the 30k+ connection.
Just let 'em work. Running such a big, single-shard game isn't an easy thing. ~~~ Action! Suspense! Jita!

Noooo, let the trial people burn in hell (j/k) . Of course I like this game and it will be better with more population but NOT before servers are ready to handle this crowd !
Maybe you and some others did not experience last night's nightmare but alot of people did. As Oveur explained, this can be some technical problems which caused 16 or so nodes dead in chain reaction.
So, problem is not important this or that, basically servers can't handle the job or not ready to do it (hungry hamsters? )
Anyway as you said, better wait and see, I hope they will find out asap.

plz, don't say that this was such a great success and that CPU load was only on 47% capacity, ppl all across the EvE space were kicked out of the game with connections errors, there were so many lag that i had to open each wreck 30 times and reload each gun manually, i wouldn't take this as an success if you cannot maintain a game without problems for every paying customer. I know that revelations needs tweaking and it's new and we have to be paitient, it doesn't matter to me i know your work and what you have to take, what made me write this is just this article on the main page coz it lies:
4.12.2006 07:00:26 A New PCU Record - Close to 33,000 Users A new peak concurrent user record was set Sunday, Dec 3rd when 32,955 users were logged into EVE Online: Revelations. This would not be that significant if not for the outstanding performance the Tranquility server demonstrated under this enormous load. According to preliminary log analysis the server cluster was at 47% capacity - A clear indication that the new Revelation expansion along with the accompanying hardware upgrades has brought the cluster to a new level.

I lost connection twice yesterday...I'd try to relog but got stuck at "Character Entering game" screen...so I'd restart the game. A friend of mine gave up and relogged a few hours later.
My lag experience has mostly been "Market Lag"...no matter where I am. Was in Vaurent yesterday with only 8 players in system, and had a terrible time.
Also had to wait in queue to enter game a few times on Saturday.
I've moved all my assets from Korsiki to Vaurent, because trying to carry on any kind of merchant activity in Jita is a real pain....trying to get in and out is like HELL! Now selling stuff in Oursalaert...making a lot less ISK since there is less trading going on.
Hope things change soon!

Nothing to be proud of guys play was not good, and I was in deep 0.0 As for filing a petition? you have to be able login to do that (yeah I know you can go on the Web but see my next comment)
Besides it seems most people don't file petitions because they get no answer (uncounted number of posts here reflect that), True if theres no petitions how do you know there a problem? But if folks don't have faith in the system they won't do it. And don't pass it off as some kind of World wide ISP issue... BF 2142 played just fine
Keep working on it though! Threv

If you had 10 Gbps, it wouldn't make a difference. It's the latency that is killing you.
And have you noticed that your path to LA is a lot slower than from LA to London? Looks like your provider and the upstream is taking a lot of time to exit Australia.

I had trouble loging on (got stuck in 200 person login queus... to a 0.0 system with 20 alliance mates in it?) CTD on most jumps and most undockings, took 10 minutes to dock, got caught in jump queus of 25 people... when it was me and an aliance mate stuck at a gate in 0.0 jumping into an empty system... So no, server performance wasn't that great. I hear lag was nonexistant in Jita. All I have to say is "HUH?!"

Sharkbait, I have a slightly different problem logging in. I actually get to the login screen, however, when I type my information in and click connect I can hear the sound freezing, and eventually I get a windows error message: CCP Blue Framework has encountered an error and must close now.
I've done tracerts and pings and seen nothing unusual.
