Even if it will be a lagfest, CCP can at least use their own LogServer to see where the lag is on server side, but probably it is all Client side, so use Logserver that day and send them in if you crash or something like that

Those 40000 are spread over different game worlds or shards. The record tomorrow is for the number of online players altogether in one game world at the same time.
CCP have already hinted that the 6300 people that were online back in June may already be such a record but wanted to beat 10K just to make sure.
I played UO for years on the Catskills server which was one of the most popular shards for that game - and UO is one of the most popular MMORPGs - asaik there has never been more than 5000-6000 players online simultaneoulsy on any UO shard... I never played EQ but I suspect it has different shards also, and as such will have a similar amount of players playing on each one (no more than 5-6K is my guess)... so EVE has a great chance to make MMORPG history tomorrow.

And Thanks to CCP for the Mention in the ingame news - guess thats my 15 Mins of Fame in EvE
Although even if we dont hit 10k I'm sure everyone will have fun , it'll be nice to see the corp channels busy again.

1) Who will be making the official count?
2) Is the official count being monitored the whole day, or only between the 20:00 to 23:59 time frame?
3) Is the goal, supposedly, the most seen at any one time, or total logins during that time frame? I ask this last one as what if someone logs in at 21:15 for an hour, but can't stay til 23:59, and the official high count happened at 22:43, that person would not be counted; yet did log on to try and help. My assumption is that it is total online at any time.

www.eve-i.com look at the number of players loged on once every minutes, and this is 24h/24, so yeah, it's going to be monitored the whole day

The most seen at any one time, in the same world (shard for other MMORPG)
The time of 20h to 24h is because a single time like 22h might not be possible for everyone, so if as much of people as possible do stay online the whole 4h, they will help to get an higher total with those that can't stay online that long...
the goal is not to get over 10k people for the whole 4h but sometime between 20h and 24h GMT, and of course, the longer we keep 10k players, the better!

Yea i have never used ALT's before, but i might make a couple for this.
It would help eve a lot to boast the world record for people on one persistant world

Since you can only use 1 char per account that won't do any good (unless you create an alt to have AFK in a highway system or something).

Yes, you can run two Eve clients on one machine but not chars from the same account.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |
