Actually, it wasn't, because AFAIK their servers had issues and almost all the votes during the time the EVErs were flooding the polls were lost.
If you honestly think WoW beats EVE in any of those categories, you're nuts. The reason EVE won was because they made the vote into a WoW vs EVE vote, in which EVE clearly wins. If they had had some other games on the poll, EVE might not have won.

QFT, and the extra additon of exploration where you can happen upon anything randomly with multiple levels and stages beats WoW and it's grind down a few levels of dungeon to a massive 'End Game' monster where only 1 or 2 itmes dorp for a entire teams of lunatics who think it's cool to grind and where it doesn't actually have an affect on the player driven economy because everyone has one and will never lose it - the end.

After spending 2+ year in wow and raiding all the way in naxx I can say...
Eve > WoW
The Pve in WoW is so Linaer and the fact that you almost always need a full raid of 40 and atleast 4 hours to do anything makes it boring as hell :)
Ye WoW was a great game the first 6 months or so it was really one of a kind alot of twisted humor in it and nice instances but thats all.
I havent really tried PvP yet in Eve played it for 2 months now but Pve aspect in this game is for me better. Sure is still alot of grinding but you have so much more to chooise from, what path you wanna take. The problem is what is Pve in EVE? Only doing missions? Or could it be beeing a Miner, Trader, Industrial Tyccon ect..
So pls Define Pve in EvE

I certainly wouldn't put Eve down for best PvE or best storyline. PvP yes hands down Eve wins.

It never ceases to amaze me how vocally negative most of the forum regulars are. I for one love that EVE swept these so convincingly. I don't have a lot of experience with other games' PVE or background stories (EVE's is the only storyline stuff I've ever bothered to read), but as far as PVP and overall quality I think EVE deserved to win hands-down. Credit was given where credit was due. I'm sure the devs don't mind a little positive feedback for once.
Edit: Sounded like I was slamming the other posters, which wasn't the intent. Good show! A well deserved win.

In EVE there are PvE options other than mindlessly farming a single complex.
In WoW, that's all there is.

I won't debate PvP or best overall game. IMO, there is nothing approaching competition in those categories. If I didn't think that, I wouldn't be playing.
However, I do believe that the ballot is stuffed by people who vote for Eve in every category without thinking, just because they play it.

Until you reach level 60, PvE in WoW > PvE in EVE. PvE in EVE is so bland and is the *biggest* grind I have ever seen. PvE in EVE is the epitomy of grinding. I mean all you do is sit in a belt and dump the ore that you mine into a jetcan every 3 minutes and then pick it up and dump it in a station every hour or so.
plex farming and mission running is better than mining, but I still fail to see how it's better that WoW's pre-60 PvE.
Now, all of that being said, EVE's PvP is infinitely better than WoW's PvP.

Hopefully this gives CCP the validation they need to continue to ignore the issues which need to be addressed, and proceed with developing complex and cumbersome interfaces to accomplish tasks which used to be simple.

Exploration couldn't have an impact on the outcome.
Cosmos sucks big hairy things because you can lose all access to a tiny things out of your reach.
Mining, S&I and research are not part of PvE.
What backstory? The backstory that didn't move in 2 years short of a storyline that didn't follow the rest of the Amarr backstory? (All supporters and members of the order have to be put to death permanently on the spot.)

Trading, industry and to some extent mining ( as you generally need to sell the minerals to someone, be it using sell orders or filling buy orders ) are very far from PvE. The scenario doesnt consist of you competing against the AI, but other players.

Maybe better than WoW, but EVE seriously do not have the pest PvE content out there.
In other news: 2006 sucked in regards to new MMO's and both EVE and WoW profited greatly from that. Hopefully the promished releases for 2007 will fulfill the expectations.

EVE deserves all o those in my opinion, Ive played WoW, Galaxies, Planetside, MU and Guild Wars and EVE beats all of them hands down, on EVERY level, no competition.... i think on some level the fun factor in PVE in eve lies with the fact that its more fun to watch 50 Spaceships of different sizes fire all they have at you, while you take them out with your extrmely cool weapons.. then it is to watch a catrooney elf/man/drawf/orc/undead person use the same attack repeatedly on the stupidest enemies youve ever seen... 
just my opinion
and as usual DS is right.. and your all wrong
