It was a real pleasure to read something that put CCP's view (actions) on customer service/relations in this sharp (and humorous) of a contrast, and yet was NOT a flame. It was a true pleasure to read. I am very sorry to wish this on you, but if you keep posting like this, I can only hope that you have more of "those kind of days" and continue useing your friendly Eve community as therapy. That error message is along the lines of the description of the new ECM enhancers which says something like: "Does something so that ECM becomes better".

Well the best error message i ever got was on a DB system tool to operate along oracle. During installation it gives a nasty error message: "Critical failure at verification of .. a lot of rubish.. Code Error oxED34AF56" "Abort" Retry" "Ignore" "help"
I press help. in the hoep something explains -me what that error was about.
Then i get the following on the help dialog: Abort- Will abort the installation "retry- will try to install again" "Ignore- will ignore the error"
Wow, what a help!

for me personally, that new year started well. I spent a lot of time in december to get the change of taxes in germany done, our computer system needed quite a bit work to handle the new settings. finally, everything works in january now much better than expected, I haven't had crying users on the phone yet. but I know the situation that you are in when supporting, so - you are not alone out there. ;)

I'm sorry, I didn't think it was very funny. But it could be me.
CCP shouldn't waste time producing detailed trouble reports, they should be doing actual troubleshooting. Demanding for more information would make us your 13th caller.
Just leave those CCP engineers in peace for once in a while. I'm sure they were working their butts off. Nightly upgrades ain't funny on a regular basis. Also their families didn't think it was funny that their husbands/wives had to work again for 24 hours straight. (And yes, I speak with the experience of someone who did router upgrades in the night, jammed between two 19" racks and a laptop actually on your lap. Oh, did I mention that some server rooms have been aiconditioned to 18 degrees Celcius with a steady breeze blowing in your face?
Anyway, people whine too much on the forums, if you want to get things better then hop on the test server and deliver some good bug reports. That will save the programmers some searching time.
Before I forget, the best error message comes actually from Linux: "lp1 on fire".

I didn't mean it as a dig at CCP at all. Please don't take it that way. It was just an odd little thing that struck me as far more funny than it really was because of the day I had had. That's all. It was more just poking fun at software in general since I see both sides of that topic.
As to CCP and their upgrades, my hats off to em. They do very well at keeping us informed and I knew the downtime was coming well in advance. I've pulled my share of 16+ hour shifts trying to meet rigid deadlines and I know it's often a thankless effort.
So /cheers CCP! I wasn't making fun of you. Thank you for all your hard work!

Nice post, I really liked reading it.
However, I would expect something better from the CCP. It is nice to have a joke on screen, but they should have the real story in a corner for the people not aware of it. Personally I was not aware it was a 24 hours download, and would appreciate if the web page had a little footnote reminding that, under that old line about the amarrian fetching minmatar slaves. By the way, I think it is a very bad idea to bring down the game AND the web page at the same time.
