Someone Is going to have to explain to me very slowly and very clearly exactly what is happening with this launcher thing. I come from Australia. I'm approximately thick as two bricks.
My launcher did not automatically update. The one I'm left with is completely unusable with the wall of script errors it quotes me every time I open it.
When I attempted to use the repair tool It simply disappeared from the games directory~
I can't seem to find any obvious link to download the new launcher and If I attempt to download straight from the website It wants me to completely reinstall my game. This is not an acceptable choice, because I'm from Australia, downloading EVE would take upwards of 50 hours.
What do I do...? |

What do I do...? Reinstall from the main download page. The download is ~50MB and it reuses the shared cache from a previous install. You won't have to download everything again, even when reinstalling the launcher.
I hope I didn't type this too fast... :)

So I have the new launcher thing... but its not doing its job. I haven't actually used the launcher to -launch- EVE in a very long time due to the fact that when I attempt to screen capture the game all it does is show the launcher window and not the game window.
While the game seems to play from the launcher, any patches that it says it download doesn't apply to the EVE.exe file which makes screen capturing impossible for me. and to add ontop of that pain in the ass all the settings I had have been reset. I don't frikkn remember all those settings. |

If you are bypassing the launcher to start the game, note that the executable lives in a new place. There should now be a tq folder under your shared cache folder, containing the client for connecting to Tranquility. Other folders are used for the test servers.
Your shared cache location can be seen from Settings, Shared Cache Settings.
You can then run the game from sharedcachelocation\tq\bin\exefile.exe.
You can migrate your settings from old installations. Click the cog wheel to the right of your account name, Manage Profiles. See https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6304808#post6304808 for more information.

Alright I can understand all that. I seemed to get all my settings back.. there is just the small problem that my shared cache folder is completely empty.. Yes I've set the folder options to show invisible files. its still empty and its digital footprint reflects that.
In an earlier attempt to fix the problems its had the repair disapeared when I attempted to use it... there is a maintenance tool aswell which simply tells me the game is corrupt and gives me only one option to reinstall. the same thing happens when I attempt to use windows control panel to repair the game. it just gives me one and only option to reinstall from scratch.. Whis is completely un-necessary it still plays from the launcher...
I'm so confuse... |

Use the Show in Explorer button to open that folder up. The game wouldn't run from the launcher if this folder is empty.

I was looking in the wrong place.. I seem to have found all the things but there are still lingering problems.
Logging in with the launcher gives me all my settings but using the backdoor .exe returns to completely blank slate settings. |

You need to add a command line argument to specify the settings profile to use. Add /settingsProfile=Default (or whatever profile you want) to the command line for running exefile.exe.

I am adding 50 acounts per week on eve launcher. Permabug. Add all of your accounts, then just a matter of few days to need to add it again.
For most of them, it even ask for a pilot name, because i never logged in with that IP before.
Make something where we can store our login info, then when theproblem happens, we reroll it.
Utterly annoying Please file a bug report, attaching the logs from %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\Launcher.
Doing it right now. THis time, those acounts were cleared without any previous patterns, i had no logged in acccounts and nothing related to DT. I took a nap, then came back again to login my trader, and nothing there.

CCP Snorlax, the new launcher is pretty awesome for multiboxers, congrats to you and the team.
It would be nice though if TQ status was working again, it has been absent for a while now and having to guess when the server comes back up after DT is getting a bit old..
PS; Having used the new launcher from beta I have been spoilt and now want my TQ status back

Hi,
I just switched to the new launcher and I am having trouble reading the screen. I have an iMac 27', and the font size is just terrible. The launcher should allow the user to configure its desired font size, as most applications do.
Thank you for understanding. |

I installed the new launcher and I am having an issue now where I have no sound. All other programs have sound and I still have system sounds, but nothing for EVE. I ran LogLite to see if it would show me what was going wrong and I received an error that says "download failed for res:/Audio/Interface.bnk from http://res.eveonline.ccpgames.com/ - retrying from backup server". A little further down I get one that says "No registered file system could open res:/Audio/Interface.bnk". After the first error message I get an error saying "curl_easy_perform() failed: Unrecognized or bad HTTP Content or Transfer-EncodingHTTP response code: 200".
All of that sounds like the audio file isnt being downloaded and that is why I am not able to hear anything, but I am not up to speed on reading these errors. I would think, if I am reading that right, that my audio problem isnt my own hardware or software but an issue with the file I am trying to retrieve from the server? Maybe someone on here can help me out? Thanks. |

I use the google authenticator on this account. When I switched to the new launcher it first errored out for a few moments then it just logged me on without asking for the authenticator code.
Is this not set up yet? Seems like a security issue. Thanks. |

Hi. Just wanted to post some feedback for the launcher.
The EVE launcher is super tiny on my Surface Book. On my 2k desktop monitor it looks fine, but on the Surface Book's 3000x2000 screen it is crazy small.
I assume this is because of the weird resolution of the surface. I hope there is an option to make it larger in the future. |

This is due to Qt 5.5 not handling the scaling correctly. Qt 5.6 handles it better, but there are some blocking issues with upgrading I have to sort out before I can switch the launcher over to that.

After a rather gruesome update of Win10, I had to reinstall my Windows. Turns out that the issue below has not been adressed yet. Luckily, I was able to refind the solution. Not ideal though, as there might be many others starting Eve using a new Windows 10 operating system.
just my 2 cts.
CCP Snorlax wrote:Enrique d'Ancourt wrote:CCP Snorlax wrote:Enrique d'Ancourt wrote:And there we go again. The new (and improved ??) eve launcher update threw yet another spanner in the works.
A started eve launcher is now transparent on my desktop for most part. Top left is a white rectangle with the height of a window title bar. Bottom and right hand side, only the shadow of the window is drawn (1 pix black line).
SIGH !
trying the official installer again, hope that works. If the launcher isn't starting up, or is just displaying a white window, try setting an environment variable called QT_OPENGL, either to 'desktop' or 'angle'. You can set an environment variable by right-clicking on your computer in the Start menu, select Properties, then Advanced System settings, then Environment Variables... In the dialog that comes up, add a new System variable. Enter 'QT_OPENGL' in the name field, and 'desktop' in the value field (without the quotes). OK, set it to 'desktop' I now see the content. A second patch to Eve 1003250 is downloading as I write this (launcher is at v. 1003795, with GUI 1.755). But.... isn't this kinda thing something an installer should do ?? I usually don't mess that deep into the catacombs of my computer. I'm wondering how the previous versions of the launcher were able to show me their contents as this parameter wasn't set then. Yes, but this is a workaround for now. Apologies for making this complicated, but I haven-¦t found a setting that works for everyone.

I definitely appreciate the attention to users (via the new launcher) but I think a few things were missed.
1) when switching servers, we have to login all over again. I realize that account validation must occur per server (and yes I refuse to let the launcher "remember" logins), but I hope the new launcher at least defends against mimikatz attacks and could allow us to enter passwords once, and then login to any server by simply selecting it from the pull down menu at arbitrary times in the future.
2) why isn't the profile selection (per account, per server) saved? If we exit the launcher, the Default profiles are again selected regardless of the profile selected the previous time the launcher was used. Am I missing something? Is there a way to make certain profiles the "permanent" default? And, btw, it would be nice if these selections were saved immediately in case, say, a graphics card thermal even causes the OS to crash...

To finish on a positive note, thankfully we can finally have a profile with music (audio) turned off so that only one instance plays the juke box! (yes I actually listen to [some of] the EVE music :D )
The profile selection is saved, or is supposed to be. For some reason we-¦re seeing reports similar to yours that it doesn't save but we've not been able to reproduce that inhouse. We're still investigating that issue.

I hope to have a fix for that sometime next week.
