We are currently throttling user logins. This will mean queues for most people when they try to connect.
This is in place to prevent node and/or cluster crashes. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA Known Issues Easy steps to bug reporting How to use the log server

Quote: It is no longer possible to launch a probe from a Scan Probe Launcher then use a ship with a Recon Probe Launcher to scan.

It means you cannot switch ships in order to utilize the shorter scan speed of recon probe launchers. If you switch ships after launching a probe, you will lose communications with the probe ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA Known Issues Easy steps to bug reporting How to use the log server

So we will have jump/login queues again? Or just for patchdays?
Because after surviving 1001 node crash, I know game was way more stable when queues were removed. No node deaths, lag cleared out eventually in 30s etc. -------- ..... |

Ok, we have a MAJOR problem!
The patch has removed Stront from the building requirements for the new scanner probes. Stront isn't a Tech2 component. I understand removing Nanotransistors and Hypersynaptic Fibers, but you weren't susposed to remove Stront!
I've invested Billions in Stront to build these probes and have tons of probes on the market that I paid over 80k to build which now can be build for 20k. I don't mind you taking away the Nanotransistors and Hypersynaptic fibers because I can use those for other things, but what the heck am I going to do with billions of isk worth of now useless Stront! I won't even be able to sell the stront for what I paid for it. Now that the probes don't take stront, the stront prices are going to crash. Either way I'm going to loose billions on this goof up.
Please put stront back in as a building material for the new probes.
Patch Notes: "Tech2 components required for the production of the new scanner probes (Sift, Comb, Pursuit, Quest) have been removed. Mineral requirements have also been reduced and balanced accordingly."

Ok...great. Is it possible for us to know exactly how that worked ? Same corp only or could the carrier be from another corp or alliance ? Did it apply to ships in the POS bubble or in Ship maintenance arrays ?
A clarification would be nice since we have had ships go missing from our POSes a few times...

The following was removed from the patch notes because it didn't make it to the patch. We're sorry we didn't fix it sooner and hope it hasn't caused you any inconvenience.
- Mission bookmarks should no longer drop you 90km or further, from acceleration gates.
- The level 4 Assault-type missions have been changed. The encounter difficulty was modified, as well as some object names and gate types. The distance between beacons and gates have been greatly reduced.
- The distance between gate and beacon in the level 2 and 3 'Illegal Activity' mission #3 has been reduced.
- The commodity in the 'Flu Outbreak' mission has been changed from Antibiotics to Antiviral Drugs.

Snowballs were only as big as your head. these took 2 years to melt.
Ice for POS fuel is 1,000 m3 a LOT bigger than your head. Thus takes a LOT longer to melt.
They were removed due to the number of people using them to coax people into shooting back in empire space and thus, getting concorded. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA Known Issues Easy steps to bug reporting How to use the log server

AArrrgh! Tell me this is an unintentional error - although I've not spent as much on Stront as some people obviously have, I have however spent quite a portion of my own meagre wealth over the last week or so buying over 5000 units of the stuff. Since when is Stront classed as a Tech II component?

It was reported in patchnotes that there will be different spawns as far as tackling frigates go in NPC missions, I'm affraid you are wrong here...
EDIT: Also: patch deployment on two clients went smoothly. autopatcher throws no errors whatsoever this time. Clients work fine. I deleted MachoNet even b4 running the patched clients 1st time, so no issues at all. Clean Patch on my machine.

Please try unchecking all the options then rechecking them all and trying again. War targets were showing up for me ok when i turned off "show neutrals"

Office unrented during the DT or before no idea when haven't been on for 24 hours. No mail was recieved. Not so bad, just get the office back and get items out of impound.
However, then went to deliever on Blueprints that were in research at a POS in the system. The BPO's should have been returned to the hanger. The delievery log says they were returned to the POS labs. Checked both POS labs neither show up they arn't in the corp hangers in the station where they should have actually been returned and they arn't in the corp delieveries. Check the corp interface and the items just are no were to be found.
Any ideas. The thing I'm most worried about is all the other BPO's that are still in research or manufacture that were meant to goto the corp hanger.
Any idea's where they may be

Need at least 160 m3 of space in cargo hold before even being able to attempt to salvage a BS in Right Hand of Zazzamataz Mission? Every time I dumped half of my cargo just to attempt a salvage, I got nothing out of the wreck. This is damned annoying especially considering the waiting time between jettisons. Surely allowing a salvage attempt without all that available space, and then simply losing the components there isn't room for is better than this?

The issue of locking a lot of BPO's still exists. After about 190-200 being locked anything after that will lock for a few hours and then unlock itself.
Also with a flattened map the colors are dark and you can barley see it. I have my map set to instant/flat/star map. The only way to get the colors back is to open your solar system map first. ----------

Well I for one wouldn't be playing if it wasn't for the (short-lived) link above. Tried to download the patch several times and every time it was corrupted. Tried 3 times (wasting nearly an hour) trying a full client download which just kept freezing at 87% for 10mins before I got bored and restarted.

just a question about the new bill of materials on Exploration Probes:
for example the sift probes have different amounts of each required minerals. that's quite okay, i.e. comparing Radar vs. Ladar. Radar Sift takes a bit more Isogen to build than a Ladar, but also a bit less Mexallon. but compare a Gravimetric vs. a Magnetometric: the Gravimetric Sift Probe needs more Tritanium, Pyerite and Mex than the Magnetometric one, Iso&Mega&Nocx amounts are the same.
shouldn't all the sift probes be *about* equal in bulding requirements, thus their price?

why? all 4 missile types EM, Thermal, kinetic and explosive do same damage, have same properties but cost a decent variation. Edited by: VeNT on 30/01/2007 15:42:43 ok strange issue jumped to system, CTD, restarted client, logged in, launched scan probe from my probes scan probe launcher, nothing the probe LAUNCHED, I can see it in space but the launcher didn't update/show 1 less probe. also my AB doesn't show as running, and when I click my scanner and tell it to analyse using that probe it doesn't change to the counter. also tryed deleting my cash etc but nothing.
no exception showing up.

More of an annoyance than a bug, and obviously to do with the new overview NPC setting options; every time I do a mission where there is an NPC that drops mission specific loot, it doesn't appear on the overview. I have to find it by panning the camera, right clicking, and add it to overview. Normal NPCs show up fine, just the most improtant ones don't.
Very irritating!

Could you try installing a fresh new client into a new folder then try that and see if it works. If it does i can only assume there is soemthign wrong with the install you have on the machine just now.
We're still looking into the issue that's been picked up in the log file though. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA Known Issues Easy steps to bug reporting How to use the log server

I think you can work around this by unchecking then rechecking all the overview options. I'm pretty sure it's caused by the client keeping the old cache instead of deleting it. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA Known Issues Easy steps to bug reporting How to use the log server

Thank you for this clarification, i thought they all have to be about equal in the end. So it must be intended that the Grav Sift needs some more of the same type of minerals to build than a Magnetometric.

well i can certainly try it but i dont see that as a problem because i can log my husband into my client but not my own character in. i also logged him in first n all was well, then myself n thats when it all went BOOM wich is why i find it so weird.

There will be a small patch deployed tomorrow, 31 January, during the normal maintenance downtime. The maintenance period should not be extended to deploy the patch.
The following issues will be resolved:
- The old machonet cache did not expire after patching the client. This has resulted in a number of errors.
- Changing colums in the overview settings can cause the client to crash to desktop.
- In-Game Browser bookmarks cannot be created.

pick the server from the drop down list again try to conncect even if it says unknown if it doesn't work it's likely a network issue between you and the server.

Do you have any software firewall running? Since the patch changes the executable, your firewall may not be allowing the modified program to access the Internet.
I've usually seen "server status unknown" when the client can't connect to the 'Net because of firewall or network access issues.

Started the update and it keeps crashing to desktop while downloading. I have tried several times and it just keeps increasing the download total...now it's at like 129mb. It will download for about 5-10% then crash. It will usually resume where it left off but the last time when it finally completed i couldn't get the autopatcher to actually patch. I'm downloading a new client and will try it again.

I was checking the new Jita->Motsu pathing and noticed that despite you making a Komo gate in Muvolailen, the in-space right click menu doesn't list Komo and still lists Isenairos startgate with no Warp-to option. Just thought you should know so you can fix the fix.
Reproduce: Go to Muvolailen Set Destination->Komo Right click in space Notice that next jump is Komo (and AP will take you there), but Komo isn't listed in the menu, only Isenairos.

Check for the file EVE\cache\Browser\bookmarks.txt
If it's still there, your bookmarks are safe. Save that. If the file is missing, they are probably lost for good.
Thank you, the files are still there but they don't show in the IGB - hopefully this will be fixed as part of tomorrows patch.

Might be a good idea to take a very good look at your patch download page/system then and revise it. After all, what's the point of spending money on developers, QA, etc - fixing the bugs and improving the game if people cannot download the patches. This is a serious issue that you should be looking at, instead of shunning. Some people cannot download patches via your website due to unknown reasons (and the system is far from perfect).
There's no archive of patches (if people went on holiday for 3-4 months, they may not want to download the entire client all over again). There's no mirrors (people need alternates to download - they don't need to be in different countries, just on another server so that they have more options to choose from).
I've said this before, and I'm still in awe that nobody is doing anything about it. You (CCP) need to fix issues with your website, so people can download the patch. The reason people are having their accounts stolen via unlegit downloads and people pretending to host "patches", is because your system is faulty, and they need to go to these people to get their patches. ---

Not going to comment on the rest, but if you go to the EVE Patches page to the left you can download a patch based on your current version. In other words, an incremental patch from the last time you played (pre-holiday) up to the current version.
At least, thats how I remember it working when I went on a five month 'holiday' and came back. I just put in my client version and got linked to a handy download.

I know of that, but it's never worked for me (and I know a lot of people who've been in the corps I've been in have had problems in the past with getting it to work). Like I said in my post. The entire patch download system on the website is odd, and works for some, and not for others (even with the correct browser settings). It needs looking at :( ---

No way! This is clearly a bug. If you look at the other probes sold by the NPCs they have had the T2 components removed from their build requirements but they still require Stront.
This bug needs to be fixed ASAP!
Originally by: Jiekon
Originally by: Glaive
Originally by: Beldaws Ok, we have a MAJOR problem!
AArrrgh! Tell me this is an unintentional error - although I've not spent as much on Stront as some people obviously have, I have however spent quite a portion of my own meagre wealth over the last week or so buying over 5000 units of the stuff. Since when is Stront classed as a Tech II component?
No, this is intentional. All t2 materials and ice products were removed from Exploration Probes.

Edited by: Agem Arees on 30/01/2007 20:07:09 1) It seems thas some mission NPC were moved to "Mission Generic" group, which is not appearing in overview by default. It is possible to add these ships manually by right-clicking and selecting "Add Mission Generic ... to Overview", but I couldn't do it through overview settings - I simply couldn't find the checkbuttons for this group. Maybe this would be resolved if the cache was cleared, I skipped that part for now.
2) Unless salvaging mercenaries was meant to be painful by design :), you should remove the 160m3 empty cargo space requirement for salvaging battleships. This is caused by probability of getting metal scraps as a result, as far as I can guess.

A little bit of a warning would have been nice you oafs; I had 50mil worth of snowballs sitting in 0.0 that I never got a chance to use. Edited by: Akira Zendragon on 30/01/2007 20:49:44 Well... after having all my settings and configs go away, probably because I deleted more than I wanted to, I started to reconfigure my overview and have to point out a few things:
- Cans with mission items only show if I check "Pilot is in your alliance" - Stargates and sentries around gates/stations only show if I check "Pilot has neutral standings" - Mission NPCs only show if I check "Pilot has neutral standings" - Same applies to acceleration gates in missions
Thing is... Mission NPCs are NOT neutral, and the other entities do not have a pilot altogether, and should not be affected by the neutral standings checkbox
Also: - Stations DO show correctly with the neutral checkbox UN-checked EDIT: So do moons, planets and asteroid belts... not sure about beacons. |

Angel Webifiers - Mission Generic Frigate
Also, was the change in salvage volume supposed to help salvagers or traders? B/c now I'm getting drops of metal scraps from Angels where before I was not...resulting in harder to manage volumes of salvage. Traders though get to make more profit even though they don't have to spend 1.5 hours salvaging larger missions while the salvagers just have to deal w/ the same headaches. Just looking for clarification on the target demographic for this change is all. I'll make do either way.

Could you list an example of what NPC's these are please?
Angel Webifiers - Mission Generic Frigate
Also, was the change in salvage volume supposed to help salvagers or traders? B/c now I'm getting drops of metal scraps from Angels where before I was not...resulting in harder to manage volumes of salvage. Traders though get to make more profit even though they don't have to spend 1.5 hours salvaging larger missions while the salvagers just have to deal w/ the same headaches. Just looking for clarification on the target demographic for this change is all. I'll make do either way.

why would angel webifiers be changed? they were fine before as angel small wrecks.

Strontium being being lumped in with "tech 2 items" in the probes.. sorta sucks.. However, for those of you asking for refunds on what you spent. I found a way to get a refund without whining to ccp.
Put it on the market.
Overall, I am happy about it because now I can build and use probes cheaply and not get upset when I spend 10 mil on probes only to find a mission that has virtually no rewards.

Ok, I shopped around and got a mission against mercs.
That works, unchecking Mission NPC and then rechecking, the Merc Elite Fighters showed up on the overview saves that I hadn't already right-click updated.
But it made me notice that Merc Commanders are listed as "Mission Minmatar Republic Cruiser" while the frigs were generic mission frig. and the merc commander wrecks say "angel medium wreck".
10m3 mostly worthless metal scraps are not good. you expect them from crappy player wrecks, not missions. I'd rather get nothing than those things.

A clarification would be nice since we have had ships go missing from our POSes a few times...
Not even a comment ? Ships disappearing from POS for no apparent reason should be a hot topic. Does this mean then that ships that have gone missing can be petitioned for reimbursement as they have been stolen through an exploit ? _____________________________

Well, if I can sell it for the 5k a unit that I bought it for that's great. If not then I'll be whining to ccp like everyone else.
Instead of making the sites worth finding, they decided to aggrevate the players by making their items worth 1/4 what they paid to build them. Why not just put warp beacons on them to make the probes that I built totally worthless!

Well, then give me a list of what else requires Stront to build besides npc probes.
I need something to build to get rid of this stront and competing with a npc that has infinite supply isn't the answer.
I don't fly dreads, I don't have POS's that go into reinforced and I'm not going to sell it on the market for less than I paid for it.

I am having a problem with the new patch with respect to the in-game graphics. When I am docked in station my ship skin is no longer visible except for the blue flashing lights, this seems to happen at different levels of zoom also. Another part of the issue is that all the character portraits are corrupted for both NPC's and players.
I have tried the following to resolve the issue: Deleted the cache folder. No fix Deleted the MachoNet folder. No fix Uninstalled the old Client and downloaded the Full New Client from CCP Rebooted and installed New Client and insured all old directories were deleted prior to install. No fix
I've submitted a screenshot to the bug report, but if you need more info drop me a mail. Is there something else I can try or should have done?

technically from a roleplaying standpoint how can snowballs melt when ice for pos fuel not?
Snowballs were only as big as your head. these took 2 years to melt.
Ice for POS fuel is 1,000 m3 a LOT bigger than your head. Thus takes a LOT longer to melt.
They were removed due to the number of people using them to coax people into shooting back in empire space and thus, getting concorded.
When did EVE dev's become carebear lovers
Atleast give us a heads up on this kind of stuff next time. I can't even go into high sec but have been carrying these snowballs around forever incase I ever wanted to have some fun. I would of used them up had i known you were just going to take them.

Rigor Catalyst rig is not giving an explosion radius decrease to torpedoes. It is increasing the explosion velocity. According to forum posts, it works correctly for cruise missiles (previous to build 29239).
I do not know if the rig was not supposed to affect torpedoes... if that is true, the description needs to be changed (and it IS affecting torps, just in a weird way).

POS low-fuel notification evemails appear to be sent only to those who have been explicitly granted the "config starbase equipment" role.
If you have that role only because you have a title that grants it, or because you are a director, then you do not get the notification. That also means that directors can't ever receive notification, because you can't individually grant roles to them.

Ok So why Did the Patch notes not mention Ice Products being removed...
I am relatively new to manufacturing with my alt char, but he has nearly 4500 probes on the market. If I had known the Strontium was going to be removed I would have Reprossessed the whole lot and waited til the patch and made some more..
Thanks CCP you just lost me every Isk I have made from Manufacturing and left me with alot of probes which cost me nearly 400mill to make that are now worthless...

Sorry all but quit whining about the stront on probes issue. If ccp had announced it there'd have been mass whining from all the probe producers as well as jacking about with the stront prices before it hit. Also we all know that ccp has said things aboout alterations to costs and build reqs of certain items before and then failed to go through with it leading to alot more whining... tractor beam bpo's anyone I still got 50 of them. Its not gonna be a total loss you might have to sell off your current stock of probes at a small loss just to get the stock out and reclaim what you can to start building more and recoup the costs in your profit else where.... frankly your own fault for specialising in one product diversification is security in the trading world... egg's in one basket and that crap.
Always assume that the next day things could totally change, a good forecoming possible example of this is whats going to happen when/if they decide to make all asteroid belts exploration only content. Prices are going to be far more volatile from day to day simply because theres not a garunteed supply or someone might hit the motherload of a particular ore that makes prices drop through the floor.
Infact I think I quite look forward to mineral scarceities where big alliances reel in their ambitions and cautiously avoid war for fear of not having enough minerals to support losses.

The bigger problem is that there isn't anything else to build with our stockpiles of stront. It's one thing to change the build requirements of something. It's another to not give you any other production use for your materials.
Sure, you can build the other probe types, but then you are competing with npcs that have unlimited quantities and unlimited sell orders and there is no profit margin.
You can't even sell your stront on the market because CCP caused the stront price to crash.
There have been plenty other build material adjustment that have been done and we have all lived with but at least we could use our supplies to build other items when it was over. Not this time though. CCP just leaves us with a hanger full of useless building materials.
So what is there to do but whine and complain? If I can't use it to build, I might as well use it to complain. Both have the same results which is just a big waste of time.

Don't know if anyone else has experienced this... but since the patches, when I initially log on, it takes at least 4-5 times longer to get to the character selection screen. It just sits on acquiring bulk data for an extended period of time. *shrug*

I'm not happy with the patch
Since the patch today my frame rate has plummited. Before todays DT I was getting minimum 40 fps even in the most densely packed missions in terms of structures and NPCs.
Now when I encounter any structures my fps goes down to 12 fps. I've tried clearing my cache folder and still no change, I've even uninstalled and reinstall the Eve client. I tried altering my prefs.ini before the reinstall to try and improve performance.
The camera also rotates in a series of jump unlike before when it had a very smooth pan.
My PC is not a high spec system but it could run Eve at a very respectable fps even with the gfx settings at high. The only thing that has change since this morning is the Eve client build, so I'm leaning toward that being the culprit.
Has anyone else encountered any similar issue or can anyone offer a solution ?
Thanx

I use Vista on two of my systems without a problem.
What is the error message you get when you start EVE? And have you downloaded the mini-patch from today's downtime, and applied it?

bugg...
you broke invention of modules:
max run modefier on the decryptors are now added, so a job that should give a 40 run bpc now only give a 14 run bpc.
This got to be a bugg, as if it isnt, invention was just made totally useless, and there was no mentioned of such a change in the patch notes.

This was a weird one.
I was out fighting in a Stiletto and took some shield damage. I warped back to the station and docked, switched into a Brutix and undocked. I still had the Shield damage.
I haven't been able to reproduce it, but it really freaked me out.

any hints on why invention was changed to be totally unprofitable?
module invention we were getting 40-90 runs depending on decryptors. now getting 14-19 run so it does not even pay for the datacores. Adding more interfaces to the game is fine, but there was no notice of a change to invention. so the early inventors who paid billions to aquire the bpc build parts now have a useless expensive item. module invention is not profitable @ 14 runs per attempt and datacores wold have to drop to next to nothing for it to be worth it again.
All the new interfaces that are going to be built because drop rates for bpcs increased by a factor of 10 still are not going to fix the problem that invention is broke as is. your just adding to the demand for datacores.

You are adding to the demand for datacores by introducing more interfaces. yes datacores are dropping from the exploration now but they would have to drop in such huge numbers to completely tank the market for them to fix the problem. So I don't see how you see it as a self fixing problem

Confirmed, i have the same problem :-/
Keyholder/Overseer respawn time (6/10 in my case) is broken. Friend of mine was waiting more than 6 hours today and the last stage still didnt respawned...
sidenote: Loot table's seems to be nerfed since first kali patch
I had done 2 complexes after the patch, i waited 6 hours for the first key befor he respawns. Finally i was in the last stage and the boss didn't respawn after 7h. Befor i done a run in 1h 15min this run takes 3h in the plex and normally i have better things to do.

Edited by: Tasuric Orka on 01/02/2007 17:07:03 Since the patch my Raven started dancing randomly.. or at least i noticed it, a corpmate of mine has the same "problem".
Basically, when orbiting an item, or speeding up for warp, the ship will bank 90 degrees onto its side, do a 360, return to level, and never lose any forward momentum, its not being bumped by anything, nor does it really effect gameplay, it's kind of "funny", but i figured it was worth mentioning.
I have fraps, but it will be a ***** to get it online, so if you are aware of this issue, please say so. :)

Is there a sticky thread with a list of known bugs ? I think there should be. You could just post up the known bugs and indicate a status, eg. reported, need more bug reports, fix pending, etc. Would make things much easier for us.
So about the star/system map etc. Surely these bugs must be easy to fix yet we are at 1.3.1 already and still no fix.
