I do not want to open any more discussion about "the events". Well, I do, but not in this thread since I know full well what the moderation will be if I do.
However I'm sure a lot of people are very interested to know what actual effect has been seen over the last 2 weeks or so on the number of cancelled accounts. CCP are one of the few MMORPG developers who are open and honest about their subscription numbers.
In the interests of maintaining that honest relationship with your customers I'd like to respectfully ask that we're given some indication of just how many people have cancelled their accounts in the last 2 weeks and how that number compares to the normal number of cancellations.
I know better than to ask the community not to flame or spam, I'm sure there will be several "IBTL" replies within minutes of my posting this, not to mention several "OMG move on!" posts, however I think my question is valid and not breaking any forum rules.

No doubt the number of people claiming they cancelled their accounts (invariably they have 3 or 4 or 20) exceeds the number of actual cancellations by a factor huge. =AFK=

Undoubtedly.
I'm also sure that things aren't over yet with respect to this.
But CCP have never been one to allow idle speculation about subscriber numbers in the past. It'd be good to see them maintain that now, in the face of adversity.

No, GM's handle in-game issues, not things such as subscriber numbers. Historically those have been released to the commuinty by, well, community liaisons, such as kieron, AFAIK.

No. your question is not even valid regarding the case you claim not to bring up even if the Mods and devs told you not to. Just a sideefect.
What more, what you take up is just a flamebait indirectly connected to the case not to speak off. So all in all you are bringing back a topic you are not to write about and add a tad flame to it.
Pathetic.

I don't care, personally. Corruption is in every game, and CCP did what they thought was acceptable. They will take a PR hit regardless of how they play the hand they've been dealt. Only sycophantic players will end up leaving; those that were on the edge for a while b/c they cannot handle ingame losses or not being the "OMFG-PEW-PEW" kings/queens of EVE.
If you want a game full of corruption, go take a look at Simutronics' Dragonrealms. The producer of that game got into a fight at a PLAYER-HOSTED event with another player about him hitting on a 17 year old friend of his, shoving ensued, and the producer permenantly banned the player from the game.
Oveur = Pope compared to that stooge.

I'm not intending this as "flamebait" in the slightest. I'm making no attempt to discuss that which may not be discussed.
I actually think it would go a long way to ending the continued attempted discussion of this issue on the forums if CCP could turn round and show us categorically that the net effect of it has been negligible on the game.

Subscriber base.. ~160,000ish.. Posters on the forums demanding CCPs head.. ~40ish including alt posting to back up the mains line of reasoning.. Yup.. The players of eve have spoken.. And to those saying the ingame playerbase had no clue thats a lie.. All through this affair i've been in the npc channles asking for opinions.. noone cared even though they had read the threads.. And this from supposed alliance alts on both sides of the conflict in the npc corps who were directly involved in said affair..

Then you should have not have started this thread. It IS a flamebait, no matter what you say.
Also, CCP with its mods and devs have repeatedly told the forums player base NOT to start more threads about this topic. You do.
To sum it up, you start something which the devs told you not to and then make it a flamethread in addition.
Can you all leave this bloody topic now? CASE CLOSED! FINITO! GAME OVER!
Oh ye. this is what I have comed to call "Lockware"

Another fun fact about the cancellation game is that the vast majority of posters who are claiming to have quit are less than week old npc alts..

I've never seen a thread so full of retards. So far, everyone's either told the OP to shove it, or told him he's a moron, basically.
"ooh the player base has spoken" said one person - **** off please. Not everyone who quit would have made a big spectacle and announced it, and there is probably a damn load more people who don't even know what is going on who might also quit if they fully understood.
STOP being sarcastic, STOP posting ****,
START posting constructively even if that means saying something negative about the OP's post - just don't be a **** about it, please. otherwise you're no better than the 13yo smack tards of WOW :-P

Edited by: Raven DeBlade on 15/02/2007 23:54:46 Problem is this is NOT the first time "they" used aid/help from "you know who" to do things ingame, or get advantages, nor is it the first time "they" used other shady tactics to aid in wars vs alliances etc... This has gone on for a LONG, LONG time, difference now is now it is out publicly for the first time.

One way of looking at it is that its just a game, another and in my opinion, much more accurate way of looking at it is that we are paying for a monthly service.
Try expanding your scope, or looking through a set of different glasses once in awhile.
BTW, I would very much like to know the number of cancelled accounts as well, though CCP doesn't seem to have any transparency whatsoever as of late.

So true, thats why this account runs out 13th of march and i will probably not re-sub. 2 of my other accounts have already run out.
As ppl say, its just a game. I see it that way also and spend my money on games that are fun. EvE is not fun anymore.
Would be nice to see if the recent events even touched the subscriptionnumber. If not eve is no danger and ccp can breath out
And No, you canŠt have my stuff. Someday i maybe be back

server numbers are clearly crashing since last week....
Even if we were told, unless your given an exit poll to say why you cancelled. A lot could be down to nothing more than the usual moving on or taking a break. Certaintly if people are 'not logging on' en masse to protest, the number is marginal/unnoticable in the server stats.
a case of the vocal (very) minority.

Seriously....why is everyone complaining so much. This just started WW3! PVPers are gonna be happy because there are gonna be some massive battles, industrialists are gonna be happy because with all these ship losses prices are gonna go thru the roof. Mission runners will be less so even though faction stuff will probably go up to. But then again how did the whole scandal affect them in the first place?
