I am not a pirate but i have been using a hurricane for low sec ratting, and i am curious how it would be fitted for PvP. You can post small gang and solo fittings.
My best guess for solo would be:
6x 425mm AC (yes i know, the boat becomes a bullet hose, but short range is more versatile for pvp.) 2x diminishing nos
1 warp disruptor/scrambler 1 MWD 1 web/tracking disuptor (web for small ships?) 1 cap recharger (maybe a sensor booster for fast target and disrupt/scramble)
1 MAR 1 Kin hardener 1 therm hardener 1 expl hardener
What in the other 2? Should i put a second repper on it? I would maybe like to put more cap mods on it so as not to suffer the cap nerf from the mwd thats a sheep, a fighter used by amarr carriers

6 425 II 2 arb heavies
MWD 2 LSE named 20k
3 gyro II 2 tracking enh II 1 DC II
2 falloff rigs, one free.
More of a gang fit, but 600DPS at 18km is not to be sniffed at.

In response to the OP, put 2 gyros in there. Its a born gank ship and with that set-up you can shred a t1 cruiser in about 10 seconds.

use dual 180's/220's
425's suck, take too much pg, barely any more dps, and crap tracking (only good thing is ammo use)
use 2 med rep's, cap injector, the spare lows fit gyro's

hmmm, so autocannon setup on the Hurricane for small gang or solo pvp? That seems to be the concensus so far.....
Do 425mm AC's really suck when put up against 220/180? I would think against a cruiser the 425's would do well. Though the tracking on the 180's against say an interceptor would do well too. What about a mix of AC's?

Edited by: Tearavygh Quillam on 15/03/2007 15:46:07 I use:
High: - 6*180mm (T2s are very cheap) - 2 med nos
Med: - 10mn mwd - 1 large shield ext/med injector - web - 20km scram
Lows: - 1 mar t2 - eanm/2nd mar t2 - 2 gyros - explosive hardener - T2 dcu
- 6 small drones.
It works very well if the target doesn't run away, lots of damage, good enough tank and not so bad speed and agility. Fitting is around 25mil. Pretty awesome for a 60 mil ship.
Of course, don't go alone against nano BS :(

They cost 3 times more than a 180mm, have 20% less tracking and 10% more dps. There is not much difference between a 220 and a 425 except the 20 more dps for a 6*425.

6 220mm IIs, 2 nos (you don't need diminishing, t1 is fine)
mwd, disrupter, web, injector
2 MAR IIs, 2 eanm IIs, 1 dcu IIs, 1 gyro II
6 warrior IIs
rigs: explosive resist rig if you want, or a combination of armor repair amount/damage/rof rigs. falloff rigs aren't worth it imho since you will be fighting in web range most of the time. ------------------- NFF Recruitment

I cant see how that would work well. Im assuming that pdu tII in the low is in order to fit your 650s? Which wont track at higher transversals. Assualts missile launcher? why? I dont know why your stuffing 650mm onto an Ac setup.

Edited by: Mortuus on 15/03/2007 19:08:14 Actually, the cane is better at arty and ac's, but thats not the point.
Because you can orbit a BS at range, avoiding things like webs, while still doing full damage. You can pop smaller ships (interceptors, haulers, af's, dictors, etc.) easily before they get within their tackling range.
Can AC's do some things better? Yes, can AC's do everything I want to do, no. Why Assaults? Because they still tear down frigates (more than one wannabe tackling ceptor has found that out) and add that little extra whack vs bigger stuff. Its an extra 200 damage or so every 7 seconds.
The other nice thing, is you can get a brace of 650's for less than 10mil, and a 5.6 RoF with a 13.5 damage mod is still not something to sneeze at.

Edited by: Zalathar on 15/03/2007 19:56:03 how would u pop an inty (sig radius inferior to 40, ie 3x less than gun sig radius) when they are moving at 2600m/s+ ? by the time u lock, they are halfway at u.

If they use a mwd and coming straight at you, it will get popped. It's when they orbit at 15km that arties are useless, but so are ACs on the hurricane.
No use comparing bery fast ships with slow ones in 1v1.

6x 220mm II 2x nos
10mn MWD, 20km scrambler, web, medium cap booster with 800s
2x medium armor rep II, 1x EANM II, 1x dmg controll II, 2x gyro II
4x warrior IIs 1x hobgoblin IIs
Makes mincemeat out of everything cruiser sized and smaller and easily owns any equivilant battlecruiser as long as they don't deal purely explosive damage. Even then the tank isn't bad vs explosive, especially because almost half of its tankable HP is on hull with 60% resists. When I can afford it I'm adding an explosive hard rig, which will gimp my speed a little but greatly increase survivability. ----

Easily, I'm moving at 2500m/s away from them, and turn to lower the transversal. Its something you learn to do after flying Minmatar for a while, always watch transversal.
I've popped many many small ships with arties, and many large ones as well. The only ones that are hard to escape, are things bigger and faster and fast locking. So very few enemies.

Not on purpose no, but its a thinky type of ship, and you need to keep manuevering to fire at lowest transversal.
Though I suppose its more complicated than ACs to kill small ships, it still works. Just because people think it won't, doesn't make it so. I ran off a Nanophoon, Stabber and killed the Raptor that was tackling for them earlier today. Can a good ceptor pilot evade the guns? Yes, are there many of them out there, no.
Also, where your AC setup gets webbed by a Huginn/Rapier and dies, mine does not =)
