Edited by: ZuN3 on 17/03/2007 11:37:51 As an arty setup in gangs/gate camping I like:
6x 650mm II, 2x 'arby' heavy launchers 2/3 sensor boosters, 0/1 remote sensor booster 1x cap injector 1x MAR II, 3x EANM II, 1x DC, 1x Gyro II
Obviously tech II where ever possible.
Sounds kind of odd but it works well in certain situations
You'll find you get all the pod kill mails too, lol.
And no I don't find that the lack of a tracking comp is an issue, at all. I find it works very well as both an arty and AC boat.

i guess most setups are variations of the same, the most usual being preference on AC size, or using a dcu instead of a plate. I've been trying with this:
6x425mm 2xMed Nos
Mwd+web+20km scram+injector
MAR+3 hardeners+gyro+dcu ___________________ we have explosive. |

Sorry to dig up old-ish threads, but I ran a test: with barage and 220s you can hit a crow or sader orbiting at 16-18km about 20% of the time, which is more than enough DPS to shred them if they don't get out quick. Those that say a hurricane can't fight out of web range and can't handle ceptors make me laugh (thats a 6kms sader and an 8kms crow by the way) ----

This setup is top-notch for solo work, especially if you throw in 2 nano pumps and 1 nano accel rig (fairly cheap). Drones should be 1 Hammer II 4 Hobgob II to maximize your DPS, but other than that its perfect.

Originally by: hobowithin 425's suck, take too much pg, barely any more dps, and crap tracking (only good thing is ammo use)
I would say they add a noticeable amount of DPS if not a massive amount. But yeah they are hard to justify because they use up so much more PG. But with plenty of damage mods, in gang, they are probably viable, just don't get yourself primaried :P.
Also they have gone pretty cheap, like 2m each \o/.

Why the target painter  ?
And, unless you're having CPU problems (in which case perhaps go for named nos) go for active hardeners imo.

Barrage is the key for getting out of about any situation, if you add a falloff rigs it is a charme, but grid increase is a problem to handle with the normal dual repper fitting, with AWU 5 maybe :)
Another intresting fitting for the hurricane that i use often (but require barrage) is using full low slot of speed mods and 1 large t2 shield xtender on med.
It reach 2.5km/s with some gang skills and full t2 fitting, not bad at all :)
Check me out! I'm so badass that i scare off myself! |

Originally by: Cry Havoc Do you guys mostly use EMP, Hail or Barrage ammo?
Barrage: 10.0 (KIN) + 12.0 (EXP) = 22.0 HP EMP: 10.0 (EM) + 4.0 (KIN) + 8.0 (EXP) = 22.0 HP
What's the advantages of using barrage then? Well the damage types do mean something. So the DPS can really differ based on your opponent. However, barrage yield a higher falloff bonus where the emp does not yield any. So you get higher ranges with barrage over emp. Which being matar is everything (Kitting your opponent).
Now for some hints that most pilots do not consider. Keep in mind this is hard to do being the rarity of the product.
Domination EMP: 12 (EM) + 4.8 (KIN) + 9.6 (EXP) = 26.4 HP Domination Fusion: 4.8 (KIN) + 19.2 (EXP) = 24.0 HP
(Using Vaga for example)
Vaga + 3 Gyro II + 220mm Auto II's with Barrage vs 0.0 resis = 368.689 DPS Vaga + 3 Gyro II + 220mm Auto II's with Dom EMP vs 0.0 resis = 442.427 DPS
Hail: 6.0 (KIN) + 22.0 (EXP) = 28.0 HP
Vaga + 3 Gyro II + 220mm Auto II's with Hail vs 0.0 resis = 469.242 DPS
However, using the correct ammo vs the right opponents can be very tricky. Obviously using one of the best EMP ammo in the game can yield awesome DPS. It also can hinder your tactics with the usage of falloff bonus from barrage with such ships as the vaga. Although now with the new rigs/implants you can pull off 20KM falloff with EMP ammo fine.
Hope that gives you an idea on how to learn and pick ammo ;)

Why no EW?
My corp mate jammed me and beat me hands down. He used 1 multi spec. It took a while, but he won. I was using the cookie cutter setup.
I think dampners or ECM drones/mods might be a better option?

1 ECM is to much of an gamble to use now a days. Sometimes it works other times it doesn't. It's just not worth it if it fails and you lose your ship.
Damp wise it's better to use those to support an arty platform to sustain distance between you and multipal targets. Not something really worth using in close hand to hand combat ;0
Drones on the other hand are different all together. ;)

High: 6 x 425mm Medium Gallium I Machine Gun 2 x Advanced 'limos' Heavy Missile Bay I
Med: 1 x Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive 2 x Tracking Computer II 1 x Sensor Booster II
Low: 2 x Inertia Stabilizer I 1 x Tracking Enhancer II 3 x Gyrostabilizer II
Thoughts: This setup has NO tanking capability what so ever but it hits like a madman doing curles while he's drinking a bottle of vodka! Iv ran it a couple of ops now and god i love it
Alternative versions: Well, you want more damage at longer ranges? Sure, you got enough powergrid to fit 6 x 720mm Gallium I Cannon's without a problem. With that you have alot longer range.
Personly i love both versions but atm im running the autocannon version and, yea i dont have to say anything more
Cheers!

I personaly like the more gank fittings with 425mm's but also the more tank fittings with 220mm's. My question is if T2 guns are really neededfor pvp. I know it increases ur dps offcourse, but when ur not planning on using barrage t1 guns will save u millions while u know ur going to loose it sooner or later.

Hurricane is best used as the damgae dealer in a small gang.
That said, full rack of 425's with a single large SB as a tank and a full bottom of gyro's and a DCU or Istab + MWD. Put a disrupter or TD in the mid. Forgoe a tank, its a ganker to the max. ---------------------------------------- Friends Forever

I have flown this setup exactly once and killed a Rokh (with NOS support from an Ishkur):
6x425 Proto's 2xMed Neuts 1xnamed MWD 1x20k scram 2xLSE II 1xgyro II 1xDC II 1xShield-something-or-another for 30% recharge 1xBeta OD 1xBest named i-stab
425 T2's will work with no issues but with the neuts active it may be better to drop down to 220 II's and possibly swap one neut for a NOS.
However fitted...what a beautiful ship to fly .

This is my current setup: 6x Prototype 425mm AC 2x Advanced Limos Heavy Missile Bay
1x Warp Disruptor I 1x Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I 1x Tracking Computer I 1x 10MN Microwarpdrive I
3x Gyrostabilizer II 2x Tracking Enhancer II 1x Inertia Stabilizers II
I'm currently running a combination of EMP and Fusion ammo and the setup is sort've a compromise between a Solo and Gang setup. Any suggestions on how to make things more effective? This is the first Hurricane that I've fitted so I'm curious.

Awesome looking setup this. I've been using ecm (4 ecm300/ 1 ecm600) drones in my Ruppi lately and it has easily owned it's first 1v1's. Two Rax, an Enyo (yeah no biggi but pilot said he was almost perma-jammed) and two Ruppi's.
I haven't been using the ecm drones for long but i'm very impressed with the results which is why i smiled when i read this post. That Cane must be awesome and i will fit mine like such when my kahoona's are big enough for me to take her into PVP.
I can't wait.

lows: 1 x MAR II 1 x 1600mm plate 1 x EANM 3 x Gyro II

This is all gank, no tank. The point is to keep your target jammed while taking him down. Works best 1on1 since you don't have a real tank. If it doesn't work out, just jam your target and mwd your way out of there.
