Ok So I've done something pretty stupid and now I am in minus isk.
I realise what I did is against the rules and will not be doing that again. I am glad I have not been banned, don't get me wrong but I am pretty much unable to play the game now?
I have 0 combat skills and 0 combat ships, I can mine but I can't sell anything on the market to get back into positive equity in my wallet. I can not even trade with a player to sell items that way.
In this situation, what is a player supposed to do? |

Or make an alt, have it make a corp (since making a corp requires money you need the alt to do this with its untainted wallet), make your main the CEO and give it a 100% tax and live out of your corp wallet....
And next time sell a PLEX. You look doubly stupid cause PLEXes allow legal ISK buying. The Drake is a Lie |

I no longer have the starter frigate, I could leave station in a pod and get the civilian ship back but my god, killing rats in that to get back into positive would take forever.
I broke the EULA, and they took off the value amount out of my wallet.
Even to sell an item or trade an item with a player you MUST have a balance of at least 0. It's a pretty silly mechanic actually. |

I hear what you are saying, but if somebody wittingly breaks the EULA I'd sincerely hope a GM does not cut them an ounce of slack. I understand the OP is repenting his/her evil ways; but really? The negative ISK is what happens when you do something naughty. Thankfully it wasn't a ban.

I understand your arguement Ai but I believe it is oversight on CCP's part. It ISNT a valid game mechanic that is now causing the problem, to be in negative isk shouldn't prevent you from selling things. It was never programmed that way with the intent of further punishing a transgresor.
I don't blame CCP because why would anyone expect you to have negative isk, so the routines where never built to handle the situation.
I believe the extra punishment of being stuck like this was unitentional and not intended as part of the punitve action.
Therefore in all good faith I think 'God Mod' should be used to reset the accounts balance to zero. Should CCP wish to further persue the difffence at a future time I believe that is down to them.

The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

I actually think that not being able to sell stuff when you have a negative wallet balance is a bug and should be bug reported. After all a fast way to recover is to use real money to buy a PLEX which you then sell in game for ISK. But that's harder if you cannot sell in game. You got to use the GTC secure transactions system. CCP employees should never proclaim a feature to be awesome. Only subscribers should. Subscribers can never answer a question posed to CCP. Only CCP can. |

It is intentional and has been since 2007. CCP Guard wrote this blog on the topic of RMT / ISK buying. Note the last section that says:
CCP Guard wrote:I would like to add that the penalty for buying ISK is (at the minimum) the removal of all ISK bought, no matter if it is still in the wallet or not. Players that buy ISK and spend it on cool stuff will end up with a negative wallet balance and in some cases cannot get out of debt. This is a sad state of affairs but in such cases we cannot provide any additional services to help players get their wallets back into a positive status. They either make it out of debt themselves or they donGÇÖt. Our main concern and focus is protecting the part of our playerbase that follow the rules and do not buy ISK.

If somebody wants to "buy" ISK all they need to do is pick up a PLEX and sell it in-game. There is no need to support the RMT industry. So yeah, bad PR?

Not last time it happened to me. I had an alt go negative once because I got popped flying contraband and the fine was far greater than what I had in my wallet. I was also webbed to zero and scrammed by the customs agent and 'stuck' until a GM released me because I couldn't pay the fine. I was told 'good luck, kill rats to get out of the hole'. Not being able to sell due to a negative balance is apparently part of the design.

Sorry, but you are just stupid.
OP was lucky and was not permanently damaged (banned) - all she needs to do is to replace the ISK she stole from CCP in the first place. It is easy, just bring out your credit card and buy some legal GTCs. Or grind the ISK back by normal game mechanics (yes, crazy idea I know, but you don't need to buy ISK for Gé¼Gé¼). I look as it as a random chance of when you get caught, how much you where worth in the first place, what your earnings are. If you want to justify it as some sort of intended variance in punishment cleverly designed to entrap the guiltiest (not sure how spending the isk makes the crime of buying it anyworse but there you go) then thats entirely up to you.
Also the whole concept is highly hypocritical and sad IMO. We are assuming this person got punished for buying isk, which is against the rules, unless of course it's CCP selling you Plex and then thats fine. Talk about open and fair competion in the market place.

Good job CCP. I'm totally against petitioning and then get that deuce his wallet back to 0 for 1 reason only. The OP should have used the proper way to make ISK if he wanted more (buying GTC / PLEX from official websites).
By using RMT he knew he was violating the EULA and he took the risk and lost. So no need to help him out, it was all his own choice and he should live with the consequences.
Helping him out would be like giving a bank robber the money he stole back after he served his jail time. Punishments are there for a reason, to let people know they did the wrong thing and to make sure they will NEVER do that again.

No it doesn't JUST depend on wether you spent the isk or not, as I said there is a lot of factors involved, how much you had to start with, how much you earn, how much you can make of the isk you bought, when you get caught. It's not just Spend bought isk = automatic negative wallet.
And what are you on about 'illegitamatley gain access' it's not like CCP got hacked and the isk suddenly appeared, someone somewhere made that isk ingame. Therefore CCP where reinbursed in the usual way for it.

In order to get into negative wallet, you would have had to have less legit ISK available than the amount you spent (hence why you RMTed) and then you would have had to spend that illicit ISK. If you didn't you wouldn't arrive at a negative wallet.
Oh, and both those steps are your choices, so again, you decide to go into negative wallet. It is about as far from arbitrary as it can ever get.

+1
The OP clearly used RMT to buy something he didn't have the funds for. So buy buying those ISK he bought something he shouldn't have owned in the first part.
If people get ISK from RMT and then have it removed by CCP and still have a positive wallet, why would they used RMT then. This clearly means they have the means to make ISK the proper way.
Also if you look at the OP's profile, she is just 5months old. So like many many pilots (including myself when I started) she wanted to fly a ship which is way to expensive for her at this time.
Again, I'm not against using real money to fund your ships if you can afford it. I'm against stupid (sorry if people feel offended) people who CHOOSE to disobey the rules and buy ISK from non legit third parties and then whine when CCP punish you as they have stated in the rules that you should have read before you accepted them.
People who don't like that shouldn't play EVE in the first time, it's a harsh world where your actions have consequences and you should only fly stuff you can actually afford to buy legit. J'Poll Recruiter - Imperial Legi0n

Random and arbitary.
Different actions, different outcomes, different consequences. That's not random or arbitrary.
I guess the take away is if you're going to "illegally" buy ISK makes sure you use it to make back more ISK in your wallet than you bought in quick enough turn around time to beat the clock for it being removed.

What are you on about?
Removing ISK purchased through unapproved means has been CCP policy since 2007. I linked the dev blog earlier if you are interested. That dev blog also explains the implications of the unapproved RMT and the effect it has on us, the players. Remembering as many as I can:
1. ISK spam in our chat / mailboxes 2. Account hacking to obtain ISK for resale
Those two alone are worthy reasons to be ******* annoyed at the OP for taking a dangerous route instead of a very much CCP sanctioned route. The OP has endorsed ISK spam, endorsed account hacking and supported that industry instead of using the legitimate channels to do it.
CCP did not force that player to break the rules.
That player did it themselves.
Nothing unethical about it. The punishment is known. |

No, they are not. CCP does not steal accounts to obtain the ISK you gain through selling a PLEX. Nor does CCP run bots to help fund their ISK source so they have something to sell you for those PLEXs.

I remember seeing a post somewhere about a open mining op where the fleet commander pays 2 million isk for each filled jetcan. Paid via "give isk" which can still be done to someone with a negative wallet.
If you can find this op and are willing to mine 1000 jet cans, you can mine your way out.
But it looks like your best bet is to buy time codes for real money and sell them for isk.
And I still say its a bug that you cannot sell something when you have a negative wallet, assuming what you sell covers the tax and broker fee, especially as there is a valid in game mechanic (customs fines) that can result in a negative wallet. CCP employees should never proclaim a feature to be awesome. Only subscribers should. Subscribers can never answer a question posed to CCP. Only CCP can. |

Right, it was not ISK I bought but the PLEX themselves, as for assets, I used most of the PLEX to sub my account and sold one to buy and fit a HULK with some change.
I would never buy ISK itself, and I should never have bought PLEX from an illegitimate source either but I did and I am being punished for that. I just think PLEX from the EVE store are over priced. EVE in itself is an expensive game compared to other MMO's.
If you look at the maths I can see why they price it the way they have. With 15 major content expansions (obviously if they were to be sold as an expansion like other MMO's they would be far less often perhaps with more content.) The extra -ú5 you pay per month is a good offset for this.
Still, -ú18 for a single plex is a high price to pay!
Don't get me wrong, I know what I did was wrong and I won't be doing it again, but surely you can see the allure of something that is LESS than half price for the same item just from a different source? |

Since purchasing RMT creates a demand for bots, and bots are wrecking the game, I don't think the -2B ISK is too harsh.
In fact were it up to me, RMT participants on both ends (buyers and sellers) would get an electric shock from the game client program the next time they logged on. At best it would kill them, or at the least destroy their reproductive capabilities (as if it could be worse for the kind of neckbeard that RMT's) .
If that's not possible, CCP should send a group of guys over with little baseball bats.

and to those who say the GM was being nice.... lol, the GM gave the player a fate worse than banning, if you think about it, it's probably the single most vindictive move I've ever witnessed against a customer.
might as well have stuck the player in a system with no exits. Sorry, but no matter how much I dislike botting and RMT the action taken against this player is pretty unethical.
ban accounts if you want, but don't cripple them just so some poor hump can look at an unplayable account for 6 months. that's pulling the wings off the flies, and not swatting them.
What are you on about? Removing ISK purchased through unapproved means has been CCP policy since 2007. I linked the dev blog earlier if you are interested. That dev blog also explains the implications of the unapproved RMT and the effect it has on us, the players. Remembering as many as I can: 1. ISK spam in our chat / mailboxes 2. Account hacking to obtain ISK for resale Those two alone are worthy reasons to be ******* annoyed at the OP for taking a dangerous route instead of a very much CCP sanctioned route. The OP has endorsed ISK spam, endorsed account hacking and supported that industry instead of using the legitimate channels to do it. CCP did not force that player to break the rules. That player did it themselves. Nothing unethical about it. The punishment is known.
sorry, but either the executioner has the balls to throw the switch or he don't, you shouldn't ask the condemned to do it themselves or try and offer them a buy-out to escape the chair. (IE purchasing plex from CCP to make account viable again)
2 wrongs don't make it right applies to ethics too
The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

Like I said, I realise the errors of my ways here. For want of a better metaphor its like buying homemade moonshine and ending in the hosiptal or jail. Things are priced the way they are, and it's a classic case of "If it sounds too good to be true".
Clearly a case of the risk greatly outweighing the reward. |

Lol, partly true.
If you buy plex straight from CCP you get 1 Plex for I believe 15 Euro. But you can always use ShatteredCrystal's service, this is 100% legit and confirmed by CCP. On there a GTC (2 PLEX) cost you about 25 Euro.
So next time, do some research first, and clicking the first link you see on google isn't research.

Biomassing my char is not my ideal choice. WIth 5 months of skills already trained, I would easily be able to grind my loss back before a new character would be on par with this one. |

You two appear to be blatantly ignorant of the fact that there is a "bit" of a difference between buying PLEX from CCP and buying isk from the "gold" farming sites. Where exactly do you think the isk from the gold sites comes from?
As you obviously don't know, let me enlighten you. It comes from the accounts of other players! RMT or hacked.
A corp mate had his account hacked a while back and all his ships and assets were sold and according to the GM, the resulting isk was sent to other players... namely, players like the OP who thought that buying isk from a gold farming site was ok.
So yeah. Isk from some poor sods ruined account = $ for a hacker or some RMT scum. Or isk from CCP = $ for further EVE development... damn, this is a tough one. |

I have 0 combat skills and 0 combat ships, I can mine but I can't sell anything on the market to get back into positive equity in my wallet. I can not even trade with a player to sell items that way.
In this situation, what is a player supposed to do?
run combat missions or rat in the belts...this will refill your wallet without the need to have isk for taxes also your noobship should be good enough for l1's
OR you could create a new toon on the same account (you got 3 slots) and use that to make enough isk to buy a combat ship (destroyer) and fittings then contract it to your main toon Everytime you buy something that says "made in china" you are helping the rising unemployment in your own country unless you are from china, Buy locally produced goods and help create more jobs. |

You kind of answer your own question I feel. Where does isk for 'gold farming' sights come from , well 'gold farming', with bots. CCP 'turning a blind eye' the whole time.
Is this 'right', well no but as long as CCP want to monopolise the market and artificailly inflate the price of there commodity while refusing to make a seious effort to rid the game of 'bot abuse' . Then there's nothing I can do about it.
Isk for cash should be a free market economy like everything else as far as I'm concerned.

yes it was. that is why the ISK fine for RMT is double the amount of isk acquired from RMT
OP was an idiot, but i appaul them for fessing up to it and sticking it out. OP should follow the suggestion of making an alt, using the alt the make a corp, and using the corp wallet to do transactions to earn their way out of the hole.

Frankly, until it's me that gets hacked or whatever, this is the only thing I care about. Iceland's economy was one of the first to fall in this recent debacle. If I want EvE to continue existing, and I do now (2 months ago I didn't really care anymore), then I need to pay for it. Some BS game like WoW or whatever that has a billion people playing it...ok, who cares...but EvE probably actually needs the $$ to continue.
Besides, why buy from RMT when you can sell bookmarks as plexes in Jita and CCP doesn't care? There have to be a billion ways to make illegitimate ISK in this game that's considered "as intended". You shouldn't need to buy farmed ISK. |
