Do CCP realize that their latest attempt to 'force' players into low sec is going to lose customers?
This last change has resulted in NO Ice in the 'Verge Vendor' region at all. Well there is ONE belt in a 0.2 system, but that's it.
I will go to low sec (since WTZ) when I choose, I'll not be forced to go. I don't mine in low sec as I can't stand all the wannabe pirate/griefers in low sec.
Simply put, if I'm unable to mine Ice in high sec to keep our POS's fueled then I'll close down our POS's. With no POS's then as an industrial corp we are severely limited in what we can do. EVE becomes a waste of time, therefore CCP lose subscriptions.
I've always said you can't force players to do things, you can only encourage them. This is forcing players to mine in Low sec or quit. I'll choose option two if that's the case.

its not to force people into low sec, its to force macro miners into systems with rats in. stop crying about it and go mine ice in another region. and yes, eve is a pvp game. the whole game is based around pvp.

We picked the location for our POS after a LOT of searching. We chose it because there were Three Ice fields close. It was the only low sec system in the area (0.3), so all jumps to it were in high sec space. The location of the POS is close to our main mining.
With these Ice changes we have so far been unable to find ANY Ice in high sec space. The map doesn't allow you to search for Ice.

In my opinion, The only reason CCP would want to do this is to drive up the price of Ice and encourage people to haul more Ice into Empire from 0.0/lowsec.

Yes a TRUE pirate is one with some honor. Someone that doesn't steal from a can to get an easy kill on another player who stands no chance of retaliating. Someone who kills for profit, not just to grief. But that discussion is not for this thread.

With those links we have found ONE Ice belt thats relatively local. However, corp offices there are 2400% more expensive than any of our old options. With prices like that and the scarcity of Ice we'll be driven out of EVE, even if we wanted to stay.

Why don't you just move or something. There are still plenty of .7, .6, and .5 systems out there with ice in them. It will definitely make things more difficult as far as logistics is concerned but there are still "safe" systems to mine ice in.

We were talking about low-sec. No need to steal from can to get aggro etc there. But you're right this is off topic.

We have no problem with moving if needs be, but we see it as being forced to become targets for low sec gankers.
I'm not here to be entertainment for some CCP dev pirate. I'm here for MY own enjoyment. This change has made it less enjoyable, and therefore less valuable as a pastime for me.
We spent many months finding the locations we are in now. This change has made them all useless.

Edited by: Shagrath Neptune on 22/03/2007 18:24:10 I have to agree with the OP although I am not sure if their agenda is to force people into Low sec/0.0 or to discourage Macro mining.
Either way though, they are punishing the High sec miners.
Incidentally, they also nerfed Scordite roids in high sec. They last as long as Omber roids now. Funny how that happened at the same time Pyrite prices went through the roof. It may stop macros from making a fortune from mining it but it also insures that the price of Pyrite will stay high since it is more tedious to mine it in High sec now.

If their intention wasn't to force miners into low sec to be targets they would have moved the ice belts to 0.7 - 0.5 system. They wouldn't have just deleted them.
It's clear to me that their intention was to devalue High sec.

I agree with you. This coupled with the high paying lvl 4 missions being moved to low sec makes it pretty clear what is going on here.
I am not as upset about it as you apparently are but I hope they start taking measures to make low sec safer or at least more habitable for High sec dwellers if they are going to continue to move the money makers out there.

My point is I'll NEVER be a resident of Low sec. I'm not a pirate. I mainly mine, research and manufacture. I travel to low sec to manage our POS, and travel through it to collect things, but I never stop there.
When High sec becomes unappealing to me I'll leave the game for another (yes I play other games. Always have and will continue to do so).
High security nerfs will simply lose CCP money. If players don't want to goto low sec then trying to force them will never work. Make low sec more appealing, but DON'T remove content from high sec to achieve that.

What a loser
- From Oveur post, CCP are monitoring the ICE situation and will add ice fields in high-sec as needed in such cases were the recent removal unbalanced things
- Meanwhile, you can mine your ICE in another region
- Meanwhile, you can buy your ICE
- This have nothing to do with low sec

Yep but now you can expect 40 or so forum gerbils to invade this thread and lecture you on how this game isn't meant to be played solo and how you need to grp to do everything and if you did, Low Sec wouldn't be as dangerous and that you must be anti-social....blah blah.
Personally, I am in a nice growing High Sec corp that is getting bigger by the week and may soon be moving to 0.0. However, many of the members do different things and they aren't going to spend time guarding me while I mine in low sec unless it is a corp OP. It just isn't going to happen too often.
Not to mention a lot of people like to just log on for an hour, mine or run missions a bit and log back off. These are the people that these changes hurt the most imo. They also happen to be a big percentage of the paying playerbase too.

but yeah, low sec/0.0.. Pew PEw all the time...its gets boring fast...

LOl, of course removing the majority of high sec Ice belts has unbalanced things. Anyone with half a brain would know that instantly. It doesn't need any 'monitoring'. But what is this 'monitoring'? Are they going to look at my account usage this month and compare it to last month to see how much Ice I mined in each? Are they going to monitor my Ice product reserves to see if they go up or down? I think not.
Likely the only monitoring that's going to be done is of the price for Ice products on the market, and the amount of flak they get on the forums over it.
Well this post is flak, and a call for more High sec Ice belts. I don't care if they are all in 0.5, it won't affect me one little bit. I just refuse to mine in low sec, especially for Ice.
As for mining my Ice in another region, I've searched three regions so far and found NO location that even comparitively suitable. They are all either way too far from the POS's to haul or the Office prices are extortionately over priced.
Buy Ice...like hell. I've spent hundreds of millions on mining equipment and skills specifically so we can mine and fuel our POS's.

Actually, I go to Low sec a lot to cause trouble. I am not afraid of it at all like a lot of forum warriors believe High sec players MUST be since they are "carebears."
However, I would never mine in Low sec solo. It just isn't worth it. Even ratting there isn't very profitable. I can make more mining in High Sec than i could ratting in low sec. Even in 0.1 systems. Low sec is nothing more than a place to pvp as far as I am concerned unless your corp is based out there.
If CCP wants to move some better pve things out there that is fine but I don't think it is a good idea nerfing High sec to do it.

Edited by: Petrothian Tong on 22/03/2007 19:07:14 oh yeah, I am pretty sure all of us have alts/mains that are naughty boys and girls in low sec...
just saying low sec/0.0 isnt all of the game.... (which seems to be the idea of CCP to push people into the deep end...)
...high sec is richer in content....(well CCP been moving nerfing them since CW/RMR...)
and that the fact that not everybody you run into is an enemy and can have a conversation is a major plus to me...

Gindar, all those are 0.8 systems and NONE have belts anymore. Fluidorbit lists them as being 0.7?? something. EVE has tham as 0.8.
There is only ONE ice belt in all over Verge anymore, and thats in a 0.2. But thank you for trying ;).

How about we play where the hell we want, and CCP stops playing referee? You cannot make players go somewhere they have no interest in, all you do is force them out of the game and into other games (not owned by you, so no $$$ for you) whose developers don't meddle with something that isn't broken.
