The reason why all my chars are female is because the female character offers more freedom of choice when it comes to customising appearance. The only male character that's even remotely close is possibly the pure amarr and civire. For those two I don't really mind it.

LOL
* I am female. I'm also a mom of a kid who is also a gamer.
* I am a geek.(took cs ages ago, starting tech school this fall as an adult learner, self taught on unix, amature radio license, etc)
* I'm a gamer and have been since Atari had pong and my brother built a keypunch computer.
* If it was a thong uh no of course I wouldn't want to wear something that gives me a continuous wedgie. It's like the mens boxer brief discussion you know. Though ok more speedo or swim trunks maybe. Btw ever heard the song "Walking 'round in womens underwear"? Radio station has been playing it for years at holiday time.(something of your post -first post on this- reminds me of that)
* I have never in any game I play hit up another player for stuff using my being female. I don't think much of those that do. My son has had to contend with such in the MMORPG he plays. :-P
* I don't exactly hide I'm female in the MMORPGS I play but then again many men play female characters(thinking they look better so one guy told me) and some women play men(figuring they'll get bothered less). So nobody knows unless someone asks or they know the player offline.(my ex who is my friend plays this game and he's why I started playing it)
Despite the cross gender playing I tend to think of the person as the gender they are playing. This has left me confused in one MMORPG because one friends real name is also one that is used by both genders. lol Knowing the gender wouldn't change a thing about our friendship in or out of the game(we do talk elsewhere too)
I had one guy I met in one MMORPG warn me I probably shouldn't mention my gender to people as I will get bugged. Ironically he then proceeded to sexually harass me. He just didn't want someone else to as well I guess. LOL But at least in some MMORPGS there is the /ignore <username> for that issue.
* I did try playing the opposite gender in one MMORPG. It ended suddenly when one day this cute(gnomes are all cute) walks up to me and says how she loves guys with long purple hair.(I just couldn't quite RP that and well male elf death animation was overly annoying and well at some point you do die)
* PVP in real life? Oh sure actually. No I don't really harm them but I am a self advocate and I have "dealt" with people. ;-) So their hp was low mine was at full, and I did get some reward for the effort. Contrary to how that might sound I actually don't like confrontation and prefer trying to reason with people.(I don't really PvP too terribly much in video games)

I wonder what she'd make of us. I have a few male characters that I made without really thinking along with the female ones I have.
Originally by: Zee Zen If you don't want to wear women's underwear in real life, why do it here?
You cannot draw parallels between female and male underwear and playing female or male characters because the underwear was specifically made to accomodate female and male physical features and cultural standards. Characters in EVE are not made specifically to accomodate males or females or to any cultural standard. It is not like you are required to act any differently if you got character of opposite gender. In EVE very few people roleplay and most treat other players equally despite what their icon is showing. So there is no point of asking this question in relation to EVE really. It is totally wrong comparison.

I play female character because I can! I'm also not sure what does the player gender has to do with character gender. We play a game character not ourselves, geez... some people take games too serious.

Gee, is it that time of the month alreay again? I could have sworn I saw this topic come up only a few days ago...
To me the realy question is: If people pretend to be space ship captains firing giant weapons that throw volkswagen sized projectiles onto other imaginary space ship captains, in an imaginary universe far far away that strangly enough has completely different physical laws from our universe, then why exactly is it their pretend gender that bothers you?

When my son was little he had the BabyBop doll. Now actually it was to his benefit. He was into sports very much and all that but at preschool age BabyBop got the chicks... I am giggling away but actually also serious.
As a little girl I used to chop up and flambe Barbie. I hated her plastic perfection. I wanted the science toys but was happy when my parents got the hint enough to buy me a battery operated Transformer. :-D (though ok I admit it I did also have an easybake oven...)

Usually males prefer looking at females more than looking at males, and in MMO's where your view is third person all of the time I'd much rather look at a females behind than some male's behind.
It's just my preference.
Dunno... in MMOs, I rarely look at my toon so it doesn't matter to me what it is or what it looks like. "Looking at a female's behind rather than a male's" is usually a rationalization, I believe, since in any significant session of playing a MMO, watching the surroundings (raids, travel, etc.) and chat (should) occupy much more of a player's time than staring at some pixellated butt.

Your post makes no sense. There is no attribute differentiation between males and females in Eve. Then you say you choose female over male because of looks.
I am a min/maxer to some extent, and if there were an attribute differentiation between male/female in a game AND the stats favored the style of play I wanted (suppose females make the best ninjas because of stats) then I'd play a female ninja. Otherwise, I couldn't care less about the pixels.

Its hit or miss for me, some games I do, some games I dont. I played a dark elf chick in lineage 2 because...well, for a cartoony, they were pretty racey. Huge plastic ******* and a black leather thong. LOL! I would show my wife and laugh my ass off. Then I would type the /stretch command and we would watch her bend over! LMAO! I cant believe 13 year olds played that game, and it didnt end up on talk shows or something.
I made a girl alt on SWG, but she was soon deleted when some dude offered me cyber. YYYYYIEEEEEE OK, **** THAT!
Mainly, I guess I probably do it because I think hot chicks with guns or other destructive powers is hot...I dont know. _______________________________________________ RuntimeError: ChainEvent is blocking by design, but you're block trapped. eve encourages alts, like me. I have a good few accounts and many alts. Many of them are male, many are female. It's a choice I see that's the exact same as to if I should pick Caldari or Amarr or if I should pick Khanid or Achura. It's purely down to whatever is going through my head at the time.
It's never made a tad of difference to me, though I have had fun with people on occasion to see if they react to a female or male character being a man or woman in real life. Guess what? Sometimes you can avoid a podding by promising to come on someone's teamspeak...
Should it make any difference? No. Have I given it any thought before now? No.
is the original poster's friend a bit emo about the whole thing? ..... maybe?
Why would it matter to anyone when in real life you have loads of far weirder stuff, like adults that act like babies, men who dress as women and vice versa

he wants the super achura stats, but he doesn't want a butt-ugly achura male.
I wanted a gallente for some reason, but I didn't like how the males looked, so I made a female. today was the first time in my three years that someone thought I was a girl irl.
