Guys I dont know what to do, I was in dodixie and someone asked me to help them. He ganged warped us and two player bs were waiting for me. They webbed and scrammed me and asked for a billion which i dont have. I have logged off as i didnt know what to do. Any advice etc please as i didnt expect that at all.

this is why YOU make the gang if you're trying to help someone, so the other guy can't invite his alt with an active war after you're in warp.

Did you take anything from a container in space? Cause I don't see how else they would be able to do that in high-sec.
By the way, logging off doesn't save your ship if you're warp scrambled.  When you log back on, it will be destroyed.

sucks to be you bro, yeah its a known issue... i don't see why ccp fixes the gang system to prevent this type of loss, but petitioning would result in a "you're sol" response. its a real shame, as this type of issue prevents people from helping the random n00b. sorry for your loss, but from eve's point of view it serves you right for trying to help out.

Apparently the "Lofty Trick" has been going on for at least nine months. There was even an extensive set of forum posts about it in the last couple of days.

Id only ever join a gang with people I trust in high sec mate. If someone randomly asks for you to join a gang for help, check them out 1st or jsut dont do it people prey on the kindness of other people. And they rarely ever expect it before its too late

how this "issue" works is that the person who asked you to gang, and the other player in the gang are war targets... by adding you to the gang, it allows them both to gank you. it's ****ty, i know, but you can't really do anything about it except for picking up the pieces and learning from the process... that is until they fix it... if they ever fix it. 
edit: in my opinion, war targets should never be allowed to gang each other.

I dont think you get that box if they invite you first then invite the waring members. You are kind of at their mercy. Lesson learned, which is a sad lesson, if someone is in need of help just ignore them unless you know them.

i would have to agree... just because the game mechanics allow something that is rather stupid doesn't mean that you should flame him for it. they should fix the gang system so that war targets can't gang together. plain and simple.

I could not fight back, theey drained my cap and I was set for mission running. They were experienced players too. I didnt know what else to do

i don't think it was your fault... just pick up the pieces and go on your daily routine... i know you lost a ship and maybe your pod, but until they do something about the gang system that is all you can do... try to pretend it didn't happen.

If you are going to help someone try to make sure you are gangleader and they aren't in a war.
If you must have them as leader, leave IMMEDIATELY if anyone else joins.
