So i just cancelled my WoW account and resubbed to EvE for a month and i'm regretting it already. as much as i love the idea behind eve i just find it too slow paced and unresponsive i spend most of my time watching a screen that is mostly black.
if i compare WoW to EvE it would be like in WoW you have to take the Windrider/Gryphon to go anywhere, whati mean is you click i want to go here then spend 10 minutes watching your character do something, its unresponsive, if i had freedom of movement in eve it would make it so much better. to me it seems like jumpgates/auto pilot are the biggest mistake made for eve it takes so long to do a quest.
to give you an idea i started worlds collide about 45mins ago, since then i've watched an episode of mind of mencia and browsed the web for chinese food recipes...who would have thought im playing a game? can't wait for a new sci-fi mmo to come out, one where i actually get to control my character instead of f1-f7/watch tv.
and no, you can't have my faction fitted/tech2 cnr

I think that without 0.0, politics, and "playing for a greater corp oriented goal", it's just not fun.
You should give pvp a try before you leave, join a corp that fits your style.
Eve wasn't designed as a PVE game, they stated it repeatedly while it was being developed.

Oh the irony. A mission runner complaining about Eve not being fun... a big DOH comes to mind. :) Missions are not the game, they are just a way to make isk.

doesn't anyone think the game would be better if it was just one giant map and you controlled your ship and went wherever you wanted to go?

Umm no. 
Listen... Eve is not like WoW in space, with quests. The game is built on the foundations of intergalactic conquest. Think of it as a 3D strategy game, not capture the flag.

it's funny how many of you pop into my topic which in my opinion was well written and had a point concerning a game i've tried to like and enjoyed the concept then reply with one liners and call me a troll.

He means point and click a solar system to get there right away. Like with the flying gryphons (is that spelled right?) in WoW that takes you across several areas.

it doesn't though, in any other mmo, i can run around i'm free to move, moving doesnt involve pressing one button and coming back 5 minutes later and being where i want to go.
/edit, yes jim i mean exactly like that, in wow the gryphon is the most boring part of the game and to me, autopilot/travelling in EvE is exactly the same, except i have to do that to go everywhere.

No, in WoW you have to keep your button pressed to walk, thats true. :)
Eve is not the perfect game for questing, WoW is. So why are you playing this one?

Well...at least i could also fly worlds collide, while watching a whole episode of Home Improvement and browsing the web for the biggest bo.obies....BUT...chance are high i will find myself in the egg after that...
At least i must say that EvE is everything but boring. Normally if i do have a few jumps to go i don¦t use Autopilot (which actually is a modern form of suicide) and while in-warp i study the market, chat with other folks in the corpchannel or i do something else. There are always things to explore.
I guess you just cannot compare EvE to WoW.....
So my last suggestion may be : Take it or leave it

strange... i felt the same, when i cancelled my eve sub and tried wow.
i felt the urge to pry my eyes out after 3 days (first two were just normally painful)

you missed my point, i left wow to come back to the game i like... i keep coming back to EvE on and off since i started but as much as i like the idea i cant get into it, it takes to long to get things done and never feel like im actually doing anything.

Missions are boring. Try to join a 0.0 corp, get friends, work together, and you'll like the game. Its my gut feeling that almost everybody who quits and comes back all the time are just doing their stupid missions all day long, totally missing out on the multiplayer part of the game.

Join a corp/help n00bs/gank n00bs/PvP/Trade etc....there is plenty to do in EVE. Hell i log on sometimes and even though i don't have time to play i chat in corp/local and/or TS to whoever is around (you would be suprised how chatty MMo's players are...seeing as they are starved of human company in their moms basement).
