Space... is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mindboggingly big it is...
You might think it's a long way down the street to the CHemist, but that's just peanuts to space.

It may surprise you but space is mostly filled with "absolutely nothing". So if they would remove all that warpdrive/Jumpgate stuff while simulating a "real" universe you wouldnt see anyone of the x-thousand subsribers at all...even if you would play eve for 10 Years. Now thats what i call boring !
AT least they had to find some way to get the gamers in touch with several "hot-spots". Imagine a new player in the midst of nowhere in his noob frigate..."HELLOOO ??? HEEELLLOOOO ???----crap game...going back to Battlefield2"

You have pointed out that you find EVE to be a disappointing experience now. Which is perfectly fine.
Here is what puzzles me, why continue to point out what disappoints you about the game when people actually encourages you to go back to WoW yet you do not. You, in fact, continue to whine what you do not like about the game.
So here's my question to you. I quote you on this as well:

probably the least profitable way of making isk, especially if you dont know the ropes, but for sure the least grinding way.
rifter + mods around 500k one looted strip miner how much?
right.
So a brand new player with a whole 3000 isk can just buy a 400k frig, insurance and fittings, skills to fly it and use said fittings?
Some type of grinding is required.
No - but a noob gets to do run the starter missions - will get 600k couple of implants , some mods and a couple of ships - then they can start worry about the missions being boring -- BIG Lottery, BIG Deal, InEve & RaTTuS Home

I hope you enjoy your next game. EVE is not for the easy street. Everyone will die. Everyone will loose isk.
If you dont you are not playing EVE but a sidenote of my game and you dont exist.

the hotspots would still be there, except you could be anywhere in system and get there within a reasonable amount of time, perhaps even have some kind of i dont know lets call it "radar" to show players within a set distance so you could chase them down or something.

Edited by: Kastar on 14/08/2007 13:20:46 Edited by: Kastar on 14/08/2007 13:18:21 Can you please tell me why you want per se to have the last word and tell every one that answers that they didn't get your message ?
Your OP is very one-sided and gives the impression of someone spilling the beans over something that he didn't even see 20% of.
EG. It's possible you have seen lowsec, but have you experienced lowsec ? tried to make a living there during a longer period of time. If eve is slowpaced for you, you have made the wrong friends and are sat in the wrong environment. It can be that the scenery is a bit dull when travelling, but that's not the point of Eve. Wow seems to be happy fairy land and I think that is supposed to be part of it's concept. It's pve. Eve is dark in multiple senses. I mean, you don't watch out for one tiny second, so you're beaten around in 17 ways instantly. Having a nice scenery is ver much besides the point of eve. It's tough, I don't want to experience though and fly by a flock of spacebunnies holding bright yellow sunflowers in their hands.
Your post was based around two premises that SEEM to imply you only saw a limited part of what's eve about. It's up to you to clarify that, not to the othere to hold back from answering to a very bad and onesided OP.
BTW, one final comment... I've read somewhere once that missions were specifically designed to pass time untill there were more corpmembers online so you could actually start doing sth constructive. Many/most see missions in this specific way. By admitting on doing the same missions all over you practically confirm on using a feature in a way it was not intended.
Missions were not designed to be fun, they're a means to an end, either as a passtime or a way to get isk.
Space is designed in a way, a dark impression of vastness, to create a certain athmosphere. If it were fun and joyful to fly through space I know at least I would be annoyed. Space like it is presented at least looks realistic, if you look beyond the spacecrafts piloted by human beings sat in a eggshaped pod full of goo.
This post became to long.
Can I have at least part of your stuff ?
One small edit: You're obviously not enjoying Eve, more into that other thing. WTF are you still insisting on proving your point by constantly answering and trying to get your right. Step away from the komputarr, take a deeeeeeep breath, go kiss a girl* and then come back. (*boys allowed to, this is the 21st century )
Why do people always have to go whaaaaaa I'm out because of this and that and try to convince the other 260K subscribers... Go, just go... no need to make a point. -----------------------------------------------

Oh my...what you want is some fast paced kind of BattleArena added to the already existing EvE-System. Log in, check the radar and then start a killing spree. Well i just guess eve wasnŠt meant to be this way.
"oh, theres somebody flying at 2AU away from me.....iŠll jump him and give him Hell"...
Hmm....i like the EvE-World as it is now. For me no need for adding some extra spice to the game. And...for the part of realism...it would take you a lifetime to even leave one Solar-System : "Alea iacta est" |

look. at this point you just DO look like a stupid troll because of several reasons. that is not my fault, really.
read my post about the t1 frigs and the SCANNER ?
no i guess not. still you chose to go so far of saying i didnt give you any piece of advice about anything that could make eve more fun for you. along with telling me to read your stupid drivel, without even having read mine.
dont try to argue on that, you just prove in several posts that you didnt, and any arguing on that would make you look even more stupid. ("if there was some sort of radar"... sheesh )
i really dont enjoy calling complete strangers stupid, i dont even know why i get worked up over you. right, i remember. because people like you remind me of how the world is run these days.

i dont want the "last word" this is a discussion forum, i said something and now we're discussing it.
i've been to low sec, i've been to 0.0 its all the same, you still find the same things in the same places, just right click and they're all there handily waiting for you to fly to. when i asked for "scenery" i wasn't asking for fluffy bunnies and space fairy's.
i just imagine EvE as so much more than it is now, with each system buzzing with people all over at random places just waiting for me to fly by and discover them instead of all clustered around a few specific places, true most systems would be empty but systems with specific resources would have more people and if they were more mobile and not limited to a few set locations i think it would be more fun.

Only because you choose not to. You choose to WTZ, following the most direct route between missions, then doing the missions in the most boring way imaginable.
Try going to 0.0 and learning pvp. Then say the game is just autopiloting between missions.

Except that they would still be clustered around those few locations, since there's nothing they could do in the empty space. Of course, if travelling was hideously slow, then that wouldn't be true as people would spend lots of time crawling through space, but that would simply murder EVE.
Also, for free travel not to be hideously slow, either you have to increase the ship speeds thousandfold (which would have real interesting consequences for PvP), or seriously reduce the size of space. I'm not a realism freak, but having a star 150km from colonized planet would be simply too stupid.

Originally by: Etheral Queen Edited by: Etheral Queen on 14/08/2007 10:23:56 So i just cancelled my WoW account and resubbed to EvE for a month and i'm regretting it already. as much as i love the idea behind eve i just find it too slow paced and unresponsive i spend most of my time watching a screen that is mostly black.
if i compare WoW to EvE it would be like in WoW you have to take the Windrider/Gryphon to go anywhere, whati mean is you click i want to go here then spend 10 minutes watching your character do something, its unresponsive, if i had freedom of movement in eve it would make it so much better. to me it seems like jumpgates/auto pilot are the biggest mistake made for eve it takes so long to do a quest.
to give you an idea i started worlds collide about 45mins ago, since then i've watched an episode of mind of mencia and browsed the web for chinese food recipes...who would have thought im playing a game? can't wait for a new sci-fi mmo to come out, one where i actually get to control my character instead of f1-f7/watch tv.
and no, you can't have my faction fitted/tech2 cnr
The reason why you are bored is because you are trying to apply WoW/EQ principles to Eve. If you want to enjoy Eve, you should approach eve with eve principles. Eve was not designed to be "quest driven" it is a "player driven" model. Join a corp. Move to 0.0. Blow someone up.
You see, you are so used to do things in games that you don't like that you continue to do it here, even though it isn't necessary. You don't like running missions? Stop doing that and so something else.
Besides, eve isn't meant for everyone. If what you require is a step by step quest, then perhaps Eve is not the game for you.
