Huh... I don't quite get it: all this thanks and praises are for what? For letting forums run two more weeks? And what then? Is there any decent chance that during this two weeks CCP stuff will manage to add all hundreds of missing items (implants, ships, faction loot) to market; add possibility of services advertising through contracts; add possibility of finding something good without knowing that this thing exists in the first place and actively searching for it; add dozens of other functions which ARE trade in Eve and which are not supported by limited in functions as well as in range of goods trade engine of Eve? I don't think such chance really exists.
From my perspective this all looks like a bone throwed to satisfy community's anger while intention to kill Eve trade remains intact, just postponed for 2 weeks.

I agree
But Im not sure If anyone here can read either.. Im not liking the "New CCG" Read only archive.
Screw adding more to the game CCP just keep it out of game. Less chance for the database to mess up even more.

Actually, I've removed my rant you quoted as I realised that it comes out of my inaccurate reading: I thought at first glance that they were still going to close trade topics after two weeks, but as I re-read OP post I understand that it was about old, cancelled cours of actions, so, sorry for misleading you :)
Of course, things mentioned still could remain as an issue when CCP will comes again with an idea of closing trade forums, but I hope it would be somewhat later then 2 weeks :) If they will indeed close forums only after they will make in-game trade mechanics as handy or at least close to forum trade, that's fine with me, as I believe in this case forum trade will live forever

Thanks for listening.
I think if you continue to improve the ingame system, it will get to the point where you can remove the out of game.
BUT there is one BIG thing to think about. What about those of us who peruse, buy, and sell from work where hopping into the game is a no-no, but reading a forum is ok? Maybe a smaller market program that could search and create within the contract system from outside of the game?
Anyway thanks!!!

no need to change anything, this forum is part of the game, i log in with my char here i trade with my char here. You already created a perfect working "ingame Marketplace". So do us all a favour and focus your work on something else.
some proposals: - test new feature longer and better, include as many Eve players as possible in the process of changes. You could simply avoid massive protest like we had here or when you wanted to change the mineral compression system. It often looks for me that nobody in CCP really thought about some steps and they were simply announced. If you integrate more players in these kind of decisions, it will be more confident for all of us.
- search for bugs and fix them - balance the amarr weopon cap problem ...

Well I never have seen such a ******** proposal in my life.
You make the forums, you want to close the forums, and now, because WE (The player's) have made a statement against CCP, CCP bends to our will.
Hmm, How about undoing some nerfs? How about making no lag? Work on the important aspects of the game and worry not about the forums cause you want all ingame trading.
*Shakes head at CCP* What next?
Oh, Congrats on fixing your wonderful error. Try to do it more often :)

i'm sorry, but this **** is getting really old.
it's as if you guys want people to get upset and spam the forums. what other logical, well-thought-out and WELL-INTENTIONED reason is there for locking thread after thread of civil discourse?

no matter what you do with contract system, people won't see it as the replacement for some kind of trade forums - for the simplest reason possible,
FORUMS ARE MODERATED.
CONTRACTS ARE NOT.
so you'll have a tons of scam contracts at any given time while on any decently moderated forums, next to "only" legit deals will be represented... because, come on, no one wants to scam on forums - any marginally obvious scam attempt will get spoiled right away, or simply banned if it goes with scam spam approach (the only possibly effective way to re-use old scams)...

"Based upon community feedback, as well as the premature closure of the Market forums before the completion of the in-game market and contract systems, we will not be closing the making the announced changes to the Market forum channels. The CCG forums will remain in their read-only archival state."
Three cheers CCP. You listen afterall. I only hope that folks like me, who made sure to scold for bad decision making, are also willing to give respect where it is due.
Thanks, (as well as prolly 3/4 of the player base)

I just noticed the "premature" in the OP. So the intent is to close the trade forums after all, just not yet. Tell you what, you close them in the future and I'll take my 3 paying accounts elsewhere for online entertainment.
There is no plausible reason to close out community forums. At least not any you have disclosed.

you shouldn't close down the market forum untill people start making threads about it, or it actually starts getting very little hits.
untill then, upgrade the contracts system as much as you want. ---

Thank you for listening to us, CCP.
Originally by: CCP kieron While the Market forums will eventually be closed, this action will not be taken until the in-game market and contract systems have been made more robust and useful.
I'll look forward to the upgrades to the market/contract systems that are alluded to here. But unless you intend to allow visibility into the markets/contracts via the web (which I don't see as likely) I don't think that the market forums *can* be made obsolete, especially for big ticket items.

Hope forums will never close. I love to browse em and find myself interesting things. This is not about the item or price, but about presentation and service the offeror puts into his offer. I don't think such things will ever be available ingame, so let the forums stay. Another point... I browse those boards from work or mobile, this won't be possible with ingame markets only.
Let it sort by itself; if your players find the ingame functions better than oog, they will use the ingame things much more.

Edited by: Leandro Salazar on 23/08/2007 11:12:37 I sincerely hope the 'premature' and 'eventually closed' are only CCPs way of saving face. Otherwise we will just see the same outcry all over again.
But they DO deserve Kudos for going back on their error. Most companies I know turn errors into features rather than actually having the spine to admit they made one.

TBH the rapid closing, then the just as speedy change of hearth makes me think this was some attempt to either test the responses and or appear to be listening to the playerbase.
Ofc it may just be my tinfoilhat doing its thing.

It doesn't really matter how robust the market/contract stuff gets, the forum should stay.
At any rate, your current market/contract systems are not substitute at all for the forum. All you'll do by cancelling them is send people to scrapheap challenge or something, and nerf industrialists, especially researchers.
