Dear Keiron & CCP,
Thank you for taking the time and considering the needs of the players and the current contract & in-game market situation. I am sure that it was not easy to go back on something that you guys, apparently, really want. But, this was not the time to take away the sales forums - not yet.
Hopefully sometime in the future the contracts and in-game market will be improved sufficiently to justify the removal of the forums.
Some suggestions:
Contracts:
Should have same functionality as a market, where the players can see the "averages" on given items and categories, split/difirentiated by Region/Price.
Should be claimable from any part of the universe.
Interbus should be re-activated, for a nominal fee & some period of time later, items should be deliverable.
Players should have an ability to set minimal bid increments & sniper rules.
And, there has to be a way to sell the Super Capital ships via Contract.
Also, players need to have an ability to set the reserve prices in Contract.
Thats about all I can think of, I am sure others will have more ideas for the improvement.
Anyway, thanks again for listening to the community.

So... why the new thread? So we can congratulate you for avoiding a monumental mistake?
HELL, YEAH.
Say thank you for the fact that the EVE team will actually retract his decisions and correct the mistake when the player base gets into uproar.

First the mineral compression nerf, and now this, 2 flip-flops in one week. Glad to see you're willing to backtrack when 'less-than-ideal' decisions are made, but the real question is what were you thinking in the first place?
Still, good job on your reconsidering the issues. No such thing as bad press! |

We use the sell forums as eve's advertising service. It's the only one we really had (short of ponying up for E-ON or an ad at Eve-Files), I'm glad you decided not to nerf them.

I do not even remotely understand why the channels would be closed in the first place. Why on earth would a company intentionally take away something that its customers use all the time and some consider an essential part of their game play.
I can see that the forums would be a lot less used if Contracts actually worked like they should and if the market itself was ever updated to be even easier to use. But until the forum becomes less popular why close them? The sell forum is EXTREMELY busy. Until it is barely used CCP should realize their market/contract system is not good enough.

CCP needs to implement ways to advertise your services in-game if they ever consider removing the WTS/WTB forums. Either that, or they open a service forum for specifically that. How can I advertise my research abilities to potential members without any tools available to do so.
Unless CCP directly accept and prefer we spam secure containers at every station and gate in Eve. Now, think of me doing that with 300 gates. Then picture 3,000 other people doing the same thing.
Please don't force us into this kind of scenario CCP. The game is laggy enough, and a lot of us use these forums whilst at work etc.

Most excellent. I am very, very pleased with the retraction of this decision. :)
As someone had already mentioned, I do hope that when the decision to pull the plug on these forums comes up again and is made 'for real' that an area is created for the sale of Services.
But that is a bridge to cross when we get there, I suppose. :) ---

No I don't think you understand, We don't want the market forums taken down ever. If we don't want the forums taken down now, we aren't going to flip flop a few months down the road, unlike a certain game developing company we know :P. (Just kidding, seriously. :p) The forums are used to sell services, shares, and items you can't put on contracts. ATM, I can't think of a way contracts could be fixed/improved to include super capitals, shares, and advertising services without breaking contracts even more. :/

Good decision, you can be proud of yourself!
Listening to the playerbase is always good and seeing that you do is good to know. Now it is easy again to point at CCP and say 'look, they are closely working together with the players and change their game if the players voice too much concern'. Not many companies do so, stay special like this

This announcement and the removal of the ability to create new posts in the Market channels were both premature. While the Market forums will eventually be closed, this action will not be taken until the in-game market and contract systems have been made more robust and useful.
I got a few questions which i hope some1 from CCP will answer:
1. Why do u want to close the forums at a later time when u see ppl complaining about it...as they said services can't be offered the way it is in the forums. MS or bigger can't dock so can't be sold except in direct trade in space which is already a problem and will be even more after that. So why make it harder for them?
2. Without the forums sooner or later away many many ppl who bid from work on auctions or who look for items for sale can't do that anymore as 99% of them can't use EVE at work which is logical and well let's say usefull for the work their But at least the forums helped them with that! So why make their game experience with shutting down the forums worse?
3. Pricechecks as also many ppl said from the last year etc will be lost in a matter that u can check a while the old forum as read only but while the time passes u can't check how prices evolved in the contract system! This is bad for economy. Also it's way harder to browse the contract system than the forums and if i want to look for lets say T2 BPO's i can do easy on forum but need to look through every item to find maybe something on contracts. Why do that??
4. Many ppl don't have that much time to play and don't want to waste most of their gaming time to find offers and maybe a good deal on contract system which takes a lot to browse while they can just recheck quickly what happened on the forums. Which means u guys make their game experience worse and not more fun or usefull for them. Why u wanna do that?
5. As an EX SWG hardcore fan/member i can tell u that except the combat revamp which killed the game by gameplay the second biggest mistake of SOE was that the Devs didn't talked to the players about changes....they made them like u do in the latest time and so SOE changed a lot without user feedback and lost all to this! Don't do the same mistake! Wanna change something make a poll and let users decide what changes they want which of course u consider to implant! Don't make the boss figure and do as u please! Big mistake from a very huge game which drowned!!! (A comment would be nice on this point!)
Pls any1 from CCP could offer us for these questions some responses would be surely welcome by the players as u say always this is a discussion but we always discuss without any response from CCP like the initial post for the forum closing!
So get back to earth and talk to us here right at the problem CCP!

Thank you! While I still rather not see the forum close at any time, this at least gives us more than 2 weeks to adapt to future changes.
For me, I use the market forums (especially Sell orders) to browse around for items and auctions that might be interesting without having a set goal what to look for - this is something that not can be done 24/7 if it was turned in-game as there is downtime, times when I am not able to log but but still able to surf. I am probably not the only one doing it this way (judging from the number of pages in the threads...).
Keep up the great work and thank you for listening and returning the forums, for now.

Thank God!
Closing the Trade sections on this forum would have been a mistake of Titan proportions.
Actually the trade forum section for each game -EVE included- is one of the whole forum SUPPORTING PILLARS.
